Canton in Wealden

Just had a delivery was 20mins early so wasn’t ready for it…. Not sure what type of chicken was used in the chicken curry as it’s slimy and a very weird texture, chicken went in the bin. Chicken chow mein was lovely tasted like proper chicken. Has fried seaweed as can’t resist this, big mistake it was so covered in granulated sugar it was disgusting that also joint the chicken in the bin. Waste of money but at least I had the chow mein. Expensive to charge £5 delivery as their prices are expensive for the produce they use. Won’t be using them again.

Canton used to be really good. But recently they have seriously gone downhill. The food is okay although not cheep, but their biggest issue is the delivery. The last few we have ordered have been over an hour late. If you complain they don't seem to care. Today I thought I would go and get a takeaway only to get there and be told the contactless machine does not work and I did not have my wallet. Also, while waiting for my food I heard several other people phone and ask where their order is. They have become really unreliable recently and I don't know if we will be using them again.

We have ordered from here several times and only once has the food arrived at the time they said. It’s good food but unfortunately the final straw has been tonight’s late delivery - 2 hours late and no one is answering the phone. It’s a real shame.

Ordered a take away for collection. Food was hot and really tasty. Had hot and sour soup, prawns with cashew nuts and yellow bean sauce, crispy shredded beef, mixed veg and special rice. I’m fussy about my Chinese and thought this place was really very good. The man in the shop was friendly -! Id definitely order from here again!

I have used this take away for years however on the last phone call to put in a order at 5 pm we were told could you phone back in 20 min!! I said sorry I thought you opened at 5pm he said yes we do can you phone back it 10 min.err no! So clearly we didn't even bother placing an order and went elsewhere. Stey well clear if you want to eat on that evening.

Ordered then went to shop after two hours wait found food on table in bag all dishes gone cold paid on line for delivery but was refused refund

Food took 2 hours to arrive from ordering so 1 hour late. When calling to find out where the food was there was no answer even though tried numerous times. No apology when delivered and no complimentary prawn crackers as described. Literally got a leg of duck so you have to prepare and shred yourself. Terrible service, expensive and the last time we’re ordering from there!

Terrible service at canton. Having paid online and told our order would be delivered by 8pm, when calling at 8:15 we were told it would be 15 minutes, at 8:45 we called again to be told they don’t know where our order is or whether it’s been made. Shocking and won’t be using again

Just don’t bother - have a piece of toast instead - this is an absolutely awful establishment - trust me don’t waste your money.

Extremely poor and unreliable delivery service. Long overdue delivery. Shame add this has happened now on the last 2 occasions. Sadly won't be using service again as too unreliable

what a load of rubbish. i odered on line at 6.30, told it would come at 7.20. It didnt . called at 8pm and ir was eventually delivered 30 minutes later. it was cold and half missing. I called a d the rudest man told me I had got the on line order wrong. I said okay please just deliver the missing items and he said okay but it will be a hour a5d a half. Do t bother . they are horrible

I used the app to order a vegetarian meal. Walked down to collect it, came home to discover meat spring rolls and chicken balls, instead of veg spring rolls and chips. The rest was correct. Called them expecting them to deliver the correct portions, but was asked to walk down to collect again. Finally re-united whole order 35 minutes later, when original portions were cold.

Being used to shredding the Crispy duck with two forks - having to attempt to carve it with a serrated carving knife was disappointing. The duck was grey and as hard as nails. Inedible and straight into the bin.

I ordered a takeaway to celebrate my partners birthday with my two children. It arrived 2 hours later after being told it would be an hour. Not impressed at all this is ridiculous. I wouldn't reccomended or buy a takeaway from here again.

First time trying Canton, pleasantly surprised considering other reviews. The food was delicious, nothing wrong with anything we ordered, portion sizes are good to feed 2, reasonably priced, quick and friendly, only downside is parking.

I live locally and have been past here many times, didn’t want a huge meal so I thought I’d give it a try. Hot and sour soup was acceptable, and that’s as far as it goes. I had a chicken dish, a beef dish and special rice. I can’t really comment any further as the food had absolutely no flavour. I don’t think I have ever had a meal that tasted of nothing. Even some of the bad food I’ve had tasted of something. I even tried basic ingredients individually. The beef, chicken and prawns all had zero flavour, how can this even be? Threw the lot in the bin and made a cheese sandwich. Probably okay for those with no taste buds.

Have used Canton regularly for years though have noticed a definite decline in food quality recently. Although we can’t prove anything, we are fairly sure that Canton was the source of a fairly serious recent bout of food poisoning related to undercooked chicken. This has been reported to Food Standards Agency. We then had cause to complain about a completely separate issue at the weekend, only to find that the perfectly clear guy on the phone, who I had spoken to for 10 mins suddenly had very poor English!! Infuriating!! All in all I would not return until hygiene, food quality and customer service improve. It’s a bit of a journey but the Wok in Crowborough is very good!

We have used this takeaway since it opened.On Saturday (18th Nov) we had a takeaway for 4.Very disappointed all 4 dishes looked and tasted similar.All very greasy and the crispy beef was not crispy and had a sort of fatty substance covering any little bits of meat that was hiding underneath. We looked forward to this meal all week and were very disappointed.My son made us a turkey mince noodle dish on the Sunday which was both tasty, different and non greasy.If a very amateur chef can do this shame on the "professional chefs" at canton.Please raise your game.I think the problem in Uckfield is that this restaurant has no real competition in the High St-and it really showed in the quality.Sadly I must advise to avoid.

Great service and Food, make a phone call, order your food, go and get it, take it home and enjoy a good meal. Perfect.

Satay pollo ordenados por esposa, llegamos a la casa para encontrar pollo rosa y totalmente poco hecha. Llamé para quejarme y buscar dinero, dijeron pollo dieron se supone que es así y luego me puso en espera para servir a un cliente! ! ! Le dije que me llame agencia estándares comida y colgó.

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal from here. Cooked perfectly. Great service. Food is amazing. Best takeaway in uckfield. If you are stuck for places, I'd highly recommend this.

Sadly there seem to be very few Chinese restaurants left, this one is mostly ok and they deliver from Monday to Thursday. Fine for a Chinese fix, but not great

Ordered for 4 people, staff were very rude and unwelcoming, food was appalling, chicken balls undercooked and doughy. Beef tasted like seafood, chicken in lemon was dry and well over cooked, noodles were bland and rubbery. Overal wouldn't feed to the dogs

For collections and 'cash' payment they are reasonably priced and the food has always been good.The surcharge for card payments and delivery charge to Buxted are the only things that let them down a little.

I lived in Uckfield for 10 years and used the Canton Chinese takeaway regulary having found it to be excellent quality and the best barbequed spare ribs I ever tasted. My family had many meals from Canton without complaint. Three years ago I moved to Crowborough but continued to use the Canton despite the 15 minute drive to collect. Recently I have noticed a slight decline in quality and some mistakes being made with my orders but I was prepared to give the benefit of the doubt. Last week, my order for special fried rice turned out to be CHOW MEIN! I gave them one last chance yesterday 13th April 2015. The food was disgusting - my wifes chicken with cashews was cold and obviously UNCOOKED! The special chow mein was cold and absolutely tasteless and my barbecued spare ribs were chewy and hard. £15 wasted! CANTON has gone downhill rapidly and is now off limits to my family as serving uncooked or partly cooked chicken is dangerous in the extreme. Despite former comments about quality food from this place - forget it! Don't risk it. A very disgruntled formerly good customer.

Picked up a takeaway in the week for two. Place was freezing cold no heating. Food was quick but not good value or taste.Rice was thick and stodgy, noodles tasted like cardboard.Won't be going back

Go here quite often, and the food is very luck of the draw. Sometimes it is excellent, other times, the food is incredibly greasy, and sometimes half or under cooked.If the food is delivered, it can sometimes be cold.But, if anything is under cooked, they are more than happy to take back the food and offer money back or a replaced meal.

Though the food is good, it took over an hour for it to arrive; I was quoted 40 minutes when placing the order but it took 65 minsThis is the third time in a row where the time from order to ready has been more than 45 minutes; rather a long time for a take-awayI'll go elsewhere for now and maybe try again in the Spring to see if the service has improved and the time got shorter

We have been coming here for a while now and we have always been happy with the choices we have made however last time our food was a little below average. The rice was a little cold and the lemon chicken wasn't so lemony. Not sure if we have a choice to retune.as not many decent chinese take aways around.

As per title. Then driver became aggressive on our door step when we refused to return the food as it is destined for the environmental health department. They did give a refund but at no point apologised for serving uncooked food. The manager even hung up when asked nicely if we could resolve the issue. AVOID

We ordered a meal for five to be delivered in advance and were pleased again with what arrived. The driver was early and the order was correct. We had ordered a mix of meat and vegetarian dishes and all were delicious and hot. No faults at all. We have become used to good food from here and have always been pleased.

The staff never smile! Impolite manner in person and on phone. Gave this place a second chance after bad experience with food in the past. This time we asked for sweet and sour prawn balls, got chicken instead. Also the food was cool despite arriving on time to collect it. Sorry, won't use again!

We don't often have Chinese but when we do we always come to Canton. The food is really good and is put into plastic containers to stop the food from getting cold.We have never had any bad food from this take away and the food is ready more or less when they tell you to collect.Best chinese in Uckfield.

We love this Chinese we live right near another Chinese takeaway but we always use this one the food is great the staff are very good on the phone. We've never had a meal.

Average food. Was made quickly. Usual cheap decor expected of a take away only place. Food was ok, nothing amazing.

I use canton once a fortnight roughly. I have always been very pleased with all the meals. Great portions. Best black bean sauce around. Highly recommended.

This was our first ever Chinese delivery and was not disappointed. Very efficient when ordered on the phone after giving our postcode and arrived 20 minutes later. Food arrived very hot and very tasty. The portions were very generous in size. I can definitely recommend them and will be using them again.

We use the Canton regularly and find the food very good quality. They have now started a delivery service which is even better - though I can not use the excuse that I burn off the calories walking there and back to collect oit any more.

Quality food and reasonable prices.Always prompt when telephone orders placed first (otherwise may be a long wait - especially at weekends).They now deliver - but only during the week.Recommend their beef in cashew nuts and yellow bean sauce and their chow mein.

Having used the Canton regularly for our Chinese take-aways for many years we felt it was finally time to write a review.Now, don't expect a warm reception, today's newspaper in the waiting area or for your credit card to be accepted, however if you are looking for great Chinese food to take away and you are carrrying cash you will not be disappointed. Fortunately there was no need to try to make conversation the last time I visited as my girlfriend was greater company than the fuzzy TV playing on the wall and the frosty reception I received - at least the food was hot and she had put wine in the fridge for when we got home!In summary, if you haven't pre-ordered your cheeky chicken balls, take your other half to help kill the time - that is of course unless you haven't read yesterday's paper!

Have used Cantons ever since we moved to Buxted 4yrs ago.We have never had a bad meal, food is always good quality and good value.The public area and the kitchens are clean and tidy (though the seating area is cold so wear a jumper & coat when collecting your food!).They don't deliver and don't take cards - but there's a cashpoint opposite the shop.Recommended dishes; beef with cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce, Cantonese sweet and sour chicken & just the best chicken satay.

Woman behind counter eating while serving u, but doesn't seem happy to take ur order as ur interupting her food. I get the food and spring rolls RAW in the middle!!!! Awful service awful food

I fancied a take away meal as last minute and decided to try this place. I was not to be dissapointed and I knew the food would be great even before trying it. whilst waiting at least 20 orders got placed by peopel coming in or ringing.Portions are large and could easily do with one rice between two. The Lemon Chicken was one of the best I have had and so was the Beef in Black Bean Sauce. Pricewise it was very reasonable and I for one would be returning now that I have found a decent Chinese takeaway.
