Banging. Visited during restaurant week when deals were on, however price of tacos is very affordable and worth it for the portion size. OBVIOUSLY a wide range of options for veggies! Between the two of us we ordered 6 tacos, our favourite being the Pastor and Banana. Corn ribs and nachos obviously a must. Will return!

I was staying nearby and having walked past Cantina a couple of times, I was tempted in by the amazing looking Mexican food I could see through the window. So in I go, speak to the lovely bird up the ramp, she shows me to a seat and makes me feel at home. And that’s when it happened. The error. An oversight if you will. But a problem nonetheless. She tells me it’s vegan. My naturally smiley disposition breaks. I’m in trouble here. I’ve sat down, we’ve had a good chat, I’m in too deep. How can I, an avid meat eater, stay and eat… vegan food? Now I’m panicking. Well I make a deal with myself. Luckily the tacos are only four quid a plate. So I’ll order a couple, push them about a bit and then make my excuses and leave, less than a tenner down. I order one “chorizo” and one “chicken”, to not look to inconspicuous, like. After a few minutes, the food comes over. And it looks like….normal tacos. So I give the “chorizo” one a bite. Oh. This ain’t bad. I’ll have another bite. Not only is this not bad, it’s pretty good. Bite three. Not only is this good, it’s bloody excellent. I crack on with the chicken taco. It’s better than the chorizo one. What the bladdy eck!!! So now, the meat eater who was too much of a ninny to walk out is cracking through the tastiest tacos I’ve eaten (meat or not) in yonks. Honestly, the flavours are pinging about me mouth like a pack of tangtastics. Seriously, there was not a scrap left on my plate these tacos were so tasty. So there it is. I made a mistake going here. You’d make a mistake NOT going here. Signed, the biggest meat eater in the UK. I just put nine girls in a sprinter.

After a couple of years of pop-ups and market appearances, great to see Cantina open up in permanent premises on the Quayside, inside Zerox bar. Delicious food, a cool venue, authentic Mexican flavours and great varieties of tacos and tortas (sandwiches). All the food is plant-based but non-vegans will love it too. 10/10 food and atmosphere! The food was out of this world (as it always is!) - the venue is such a vibe as well. The art and big windows just give amazing holiday vibes! Warm and welcoming as well! Can’t recommend enough 😍

Next to Zerox on the quayside in Newcastle, the location is unbeatable. There is a wonderful relaxed vibe that you can settle into while sipping on cooled beers , cocktails or whatever. I'm not vegetarian, however the plant based Tacos were simply out of this world and cheaper than chips!!! A must visit while meandering along the quayside. Absolutely loved it.

Utterly shambolic service and food from this establishment. I came in as a walk in on the afternoonon 1st March, clearly heavily pregnant with my 4 year old daughter. We were advised from the start that there were no tables inside and that we'd have to sit outside, however, the male member of staff did say he'd let us know as soon as a table opened up. Fair enough. As it was freezing, and I was evidently pregnant and had a small child with me, we did ask if we could wait inside at the apparently two "booked out tables " until our food was ready, however we were advised we could not wait inside Fine, so we waited outside. There were four of us in total. So we sat outside in the freezing cold with barely working heaters (after being told they were strong enough to keep is warm) and watched as three tables opened up and no one came in for the "booked out tables" over the course of about 45 minutes. We realised at that point that the staff probably just couldn't be bothered to clean the tables before their later booking. This combined with the staffs can't be bothered to deal with new customer attitude reinforced our logic. The bill for three burritos, three soft drinks and a small portion of nachos came to a whopping £55, this was our fault as we probably should have skipped the measley nachos and over priced gauc which I could have made better at home. I ordered the shrimp burrito, and sadly after I consumed it I felt severely nauseous all day, I'm actually atill nauseous as i write this out. As I was eating it, I do member thinking the shrimp texture seemed abit undercooked but at thay point I couldn't feel my face from the cold and my 6 months pregnancy hunger took over. All in all, I would not recommend anyone to eat here, go up the street to Mascalzone or even better, visit the choppy across the road to save yourself paying for potential food poisoning.

We were the first people to try out their bottomless brunch and the food, drink and service were all amazing! Staff were so lovely and were so quick - and food portions were HUGE so well worth it!
