Food is always prepared well and always tasty and enjoyable. Definitely a taste of the Caribbean. I visit often and am yet to be disappointed. Not a place for a sit-down meal but definitely worth visiting

I'd leave less than 1 if I could. Customer service is atrocious, they have signed up to the too good to go service so I ordered a magic bag the night before to collect 23rd Nov between 10-10.30. I arrived bang on 10pm and the shutters were being closed so as he saw me he opened the door and I told him I'm here for the collection etc and showed him the cfm on the app. He says well we close at 10 so I said I don't know that my window is till 10.30 kept going in circles then he says he's cleaner and owner gone home when i asked to see manager, what made me laugh was he kept saying 10pm close and then said look on the door it says 10pm i was like are you having a laugh coz your door says 11pm closing! Omg so rude shouldn't be in customer related business if don't know how to speak to people or run a business. Rant over STAY AWAY place smelt funny or he the apparent cleaner needed a shower!

Not the best place to spend your Friday evening before/after grabbing some beers. The food is not great and it's microwaved.

Ordered curry goat, rice n peas and 1/2 jerk chicken, rice n peas and a salt fish fritter. It arrived bang on time, although it said it has left the restaurant 45 mins before, the estimated delivery time was as predicted so no complaints and the food was still pretty hot. The goat was so delicious and much bigger portion when on the plate, it looked small in the pot but buffed up nice. The jerk was delicious and I love the chargrilled flavour, well seasoned maybe the sauce was a lil sweet but loved it anyway. Rice was a bit dry but very saucy dishes made up for that. Delivery driver was really sweet and apologised for the delay, even tho it was on time (it was Saturday night so delays to be expected). Love you Calypso Grill 💚 looking forward to my next feast!

Great food, friendly staff. Travelled 20 miles for curried goat and it was well worth the travel.

Ordered a Jerk Chicken and Sweet Potato Chips. Paid £16.50 for takeaway and had to throw the whole order away. The chips had hair on it and the chicken was gross and burnt so just couldn't eat. I would have taken it back to him if it wasn't so far. Threw all the food without eating. Such a waste! Reply to the owner: the chip had hair as soon as you open the lid, what are you on about? If you looked while packing, obviously you would have taken it out. I didn't expect you to take the responsibility anyway looking at your other reviews and how your service is in general. The jerk chicken is made over coaI, its not coal itself. And if you read the review again , you'll see that I already said that I couldn't come as you were too far for me to begin with. But even if I had come, I can see that it wouldn't have made a difference cause your customer service is non-existent.

Was looking forward to the order, usually love this spot. 2hours later no food. Collections from now on will probably be the best option.

Not to bad ,some things was good,the sweet potato chips very good ,but the portion is so small I ordered LARGE and I get little bit of chips. I'm glad I ordered a rice but the rice was very dry and not fresh I think. The size of coleslaw OMG please the cabbage is cheap so plz put little bit more for Large - it was tested very good I give only 3 * because the portion was like for kids and rice not nice. The jerk chicken was good ,soft cooked well. Propably not going there again .

I ordered food from them as I'm a regular customer in the shop so this was the first time I I asked for home delivery and was told a hour for delivery I called 1hour and 30 mins later and was told it had left the shop and was on its way a further 45 mins later after my 2nd call to them and saying my food still hasn't turned up and then 10 mins later I have the delivery driver call me so in total I waited 2 hour and 25 mins for my food which take them 15 mins tops to cook and im exactly 10 mins drive from there shop on Google map so realistically I could of gone and collected my food on the bus from the shop quicker then they can deliver food I drive it in 10 mins my self so I don't get why 2 hours and 25 mins for delivery I will never buy from this shop again the servise is s!#t

Ordered over the weekend and order was 23.50 ordered again today said 27 pound same order. Even quoted on the phone 23.50 jokers. Sort your prices out and stop scamming people. Will be finding another Jamaican place from now on bad customer service

The food is good. Some of it is great, but some of it is really not. The portions are far smaller than I would like to see for the price paid. They are terrible for order accuracy as things are often missed off, and unavailable food is sometimes substituted without them ringing up first. All in all, your typical Caribbean place.

Delicious Caribbean food, it's a must if you are in Leicester

Food was very dry and had coleslaw missing, had no salad but was not informed. Rang them and the lady told me that the coleslaw is different on there system even that it was in the order description. And she hang up on me. Definitely would not recommend.

Don't think much of the food. Or the quality and quantity.

I should of checked these reviews first, food was warm dumplings were cold and delivery was over 1hr late, first and last time I give my money to this place.

Very disappointed! Hard rock dumplings, ordered arrived late, got a call when was late to tell me no steamed veg. Sent jerk chicken with hardly no chicken on. Food was 1/10 usually it's fine but not today! Will be calling tomorrow.

Authentic Caribbean food!!! Saying this with confidence as my grandfather was from Jamaica, this is the same food he used to make. Reasonable prices and they're right off the city center. Unprecedented in flavor and authenticity.

Was excited trying carabean food as I love it but as soon as I got there they warmed it up in a microwave. Service wasn't great either, felt like I was wasting there time eating there and the shop itself is filthy.

This place deserves less than 1 star. Absolutely terrible service. staff are rude. Every time I order I get a phone call back to say things aren’t available. Once I get my order there is always something wrong or missing. Food is average (that’s if it’s still warm). Really need another Caribbean restaurant in Leicester as this one is a shambles.

Food was okay, service was poor!

Food took over 2 hours to come. Plantain was stone cold, dry and tough like it had been sitting around for 2 hours. Coleslaw was runny and just tasted like salad cream. Jerk sauce tasted like they'd used all the tomato ketchup or just added spoonfuls of sugar. No spice to the jerk chicken & was pretty cold. Curry chicken was seasoned nicely but dry and lukewarm. Saltfish fritter was stone cold and sooo greasy. Rice and peas were the only really good bit. Had to call the restaurant up 4 times, never ever again, someone recommend a proper Caribbean food shop to me please.

STAY AWAY! Without a doubt absolutely THE worst takeaway I have ever recieved! I recieved my food and over half my order was missing and all of it was cold! On top of that it took over an hour and a half to get to me, I called the shop multiple times and I was told the driver was 5 minutes away from me but then had to wait a further half an hour since I called to see where my food was. Because of all of this, I was told they would send out my order again... this time it took over an hour again, I once again called the shop and was told the same "driver will be there in 5 minutes" so I stated that I would not be paying for the food if the driver is longer than 5 minutes more and the food was once again not up to scratch. The food FINALLY arrived after placing my orginal order 3 hours ago! and once again was cold, undercooked, soggy and was not what I ordered. Therefore, I did not pay anything for the food as I explained I wouldn't, to not 1 BUT 2 of their members of staff, so they were aready aware and agreed it would be fine for me not to pay. Later, I then recieved calls from one of the drivers insinuating I was lying about the mistakes they made, threating to to blacklist me on just eat and saying I had no choice but to pay the bill. I then recieved over 5 phone calls from the shop, the drivers, private numbers etc. I have never experienced such low customer service and been treated so poorly by an establishment!

The food was quite good. It’s a quite a ways off for tourist, but the food was worth it. Oh, the view was beautiful, as well. The service was where it went down hill. I gave them American dollars and they gave me back their currency. So, I gave them back the exact change and asked for what I gave them originally and they made such a fuss about it.

Good food but not good enough to get again .a bit later then I'd have liked and forgot my main which then took ages to come bk .kids answer the phone. And poor customer services. Not really happy with them

Best city centre takeaway for Caribbean food

Food isn’t too bad. BUT the customer service is absolute S*** while I was ordering the girl was randomly just flirting with one customer, then when I ordered even though the food was in front of me they turned around and said they ain’t got none. Who allows kids to run their business. Joke of a restaurant snm

Collection time was 20min from call order. Food was not ready 20min after arrival. Food was heated in polystryrine containers that had melted hot spots at the bottom- ? Into the food Had to reheat food at home as was only luke warm Colesaw was missing from the order Salad was limp old, not worth a penny. A Bag of salad would have been taster and gone further Unsure if the rice was off or flavour masked by a coconut taste Have eaten from here before, curried mutton not goat was ok.

Delivery takes 2 hours plus and they always run out of stuff you’ve ordered but foods great if/when you get it.

Terrible service, first time I tried to order online they cancelled my order, second time going into the shop I ordered macaroni and cheese and got a tiny slither ! Food is very delicious but the portion size and service is appalling

Honestly the food is amazing. The one star is for all the times my order came without the plantain, or the drink or it was 2 hours late or they cancelled my order or they gave me plain rice instead of rice and peas. The food IS GREAT. The customer service needs to improve dramatically.

I ordered a medium size curry goat meal with fried chicken and plantain. The meal looked like a children's meal and it arrived without the plantain. I'm not satisfied with the service. I will most definitely not order again.
