Caldesi Campagna in Windsor and Maidenhead

The food is always exceptional, always!!! The sea bass ravioli is light and delicious; the calves liver out of this world… and to top it all the doughnuts to finish. Heavenly. Staff wonderful.

A firm favourite for all family members, we visited for our 22nd Wedding Anniversary. Dishes were exquisite, arancino amuse bouche very tasty, scallops excellent as was lamb shoulder. Lovely Sardinian Vermentino too. Georgia and Tom looked after us very well, Amelia very grateful for their friendly service manner. Thank you also for the anniversary plate at dessert. It is always a pleasure to meet Giancarlo who makes a specific effort to go round and greet all his guests. We very much enjoy Caldesi in Campagna and look forward to returning again.

I attended a pizza and pasta making course today in Bray. It was an absolutely fabulous day, Giancarlo was our Chef tutor. An inspirational, interesting and passional advocate of everything that is positive about good quality authentic ingredients. I cannot recommend this course enough. I am so impressed and so enthused I am planning to book another 2 courses. Mia was a delightfully helpful assistant, Lucia demonstrated how to make a pizza, which she made look far too easily for us to copy. Another Chef, (my apologies, despite him being great I cannot remember his name) provided an insight into how the the pasta dough changes the longer it proves. So much information to take in, but all delivered with humour and love. The day flew by, it was so much fun whilst learning so many tips and techniques. Thank you all including the other 7 course attendees, for a fantastic day, one I shall remember and will no doubt recount many times to anyone who will listen!

Despite having lived not too far away for over twenty years, I have never heard of Caldesi until a friend enthused recently. The atmosphere at the small bar on entering started us well, even if I did wince when the girls ordered a bottle of champagne! The menu is very inviting and we all loved our choices. Attentive but not OTT service. Really , really good and Caldesi is now on my five star list ( along with its near neighbour on the river). Yes, it is pricey but it is real quality. The only downside, which they cannot help, is the parking if if is raining!

We wanted to meet up with friends and this was half way between us, which is why we chose it originally, but if I had known about this excellent, welcoming restaurant, would have come here before! Absolutely lovely staff, really relaxed atmosphere and yet exceptional food. We had lunch, shared some starters and deserts and for the quality of both the food, ambience and service, it was absolutely value. I have severe allergies to nuts and shellfish, and really appreciated the care they took over this. We were first to get there and last to leave! And so lovely to speak with chef Giancarlo Caldesi what an exceptional, interesting and lovely person he is.

Visited here on our first night of four in Bray & this was the best meal of the break. I went for all four courses & was highly impressed with every one of them. The sauce with the veal parcels was a highlight along with the seabass & the scallops. The sambuca jam with the Italian doughnuts for dessert is a treat if you love the taste of aniseed. If you are in the area this is a must visit.

Went today for a Sunday Lunch to celebrate birthday and wedding anniversary. Pushed the boat out and had four courses!! All our food was of the highest standard and very tasty. Probably some of the best food we have eaten for a long time!!! We had quite a few drinks which added to the bill but have no regrets at the cost when the atmosphere, service ,food and drink are so good. They also provided a little desert to celebrate my birthday. A nice touch is that the owner comes round for a socisl chat and he has convinced me to go to Tuscany for a holiday! If this food is anything to go by, I cant wait!! Will be bacK!

I have been a few times and it has always been a lovely very warmly hospitable Italian evening. Last night the food was really excellent around the table however and I really wanted to mention the lamb which was some of the best I have ever had. Lamb shoulder slow cooked and falling apart and a lamb cutlet which was incredibly tender and flavourful. Perfect. I am very much looking forward to my return.

Excellent food and service. Having just recovered from stomach surgery I wanted to treat myself to a super meal. Caldesi's menu was spot on and I couldn't fault the attentive (but not overly so) service. My husband and I had a lovely meal and would certainly return.

Excellent food and service again. Waiters and waitresses very attentive and nice touches with bread basket and amuse bouche. Food was all superb served piping hot. The only thing that let the whole visit down was some guests near us bringing a dog into the restaurant . Not only was the dog not on a lead but there was no regard for other diners or consideration of allergies or hygiene.

This remains a firm favourite. Excellent Sunday lunch which we thought was good value. Friendly, diligent service. Great to see Giancarlo chatting with his diners. Ragu is still the best I've had in the UK. Grigliata pesce is excellent.

We have wanted to visit this restaurant for a long time. We’ve all got Giancarlo’s books, so we chose to come for a small family event. The atmosphere is perfect for a meal. Neither noisy nor silent. The food offerings use fresh ingredients and offer a reasonable range. My only criticism in this respect was the number of non meat or fish secondi choices. I would have like to have seen one or two more. Service was excellent and friendly. Giancarlo put in an appearance which added to the evening as he greeted the guests at their tables. My choice of dessert was a little underwhelming. It was a little on the bland side which was a surprise as all the other food was flavoursome. The wine list is broad with a good number of offerings by the glass. However, it felt odd that there was a huge leap between the house wines and the rest with regard to price point. While I appreciate you pay for quality with regard to wines, some more moderately priced options would have been welcome. Overall, the experience was pleasant and the service was excellent. But some of the pricing felt a bit high.

Visited with my mother for lunch over the Easter weekend. Fabulous friendly service, beautiful flavourful dishes, the lobster ravioli absolutely fantastic, a personal favourite. Thank you for a wonderful lunch.

I will keep this short and sweet. I can’t fault it. Great staff, food, cocktails and atmosphere. I think what I liked most is the restaurant has managed to take all the positive elements of a Michelin star restaurant but without being pretentious and ‘stuffy’. Can’t wait to visit again!

Beautiful authentic restaurant with a good selection, and good vegetarian options. The service was immaculate, the wine was great and the head chef (Giancarlo Caldesi) came around to say hi and ask everyone how they were enjoying the meal. Worth noting people tended to dress up even at lunch time, but it wasn’t too fussy.

We hadn’t been here for a long time but as it is local to us we decided to book for a birthday dinner. Service was excellent. Very welcoming and attentive throughout. Menu had good choices for all with specials of the day. There is also a comprehensive wine list with varying prices from reasonable to more expensive. We ordered the specials fish starter which was really good and it followed an amuse Boucher which was also tasty. The main of veal was a classic and very good. As it was a birthday celebration, my partner was presented with a birthday plate of chocolates. A lovely touch at the end of our meal. Thank you to all the team.

Absolutely 5* location, service, food, ambience. Came here for a work meal and came back the following week so my husband could try it out as the food was so spectacular. No constructive feedback whatsoever. Brilliant all round and will be returning.

First time at Caldesi last night. We had a lovely meal served by wonderful staff. Very relaxed and without a doubt the best authentic Italian we have had outside of Italy. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening and delicious food. We will most definitely be returning.

Let me start with an apology. I’ve lived in the area for over 20 years, and last night was the first time I visited Caldesi in Campagna. I feel like an idiot, because all this time I was missing out on the experience of dining there. I visited on a Saturday evening with my partner, younger son and his partner. Right from the off, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. We were greeted as we walked in by the proprietor, Giancarlo. Shown to a nice table in what was a full house. The service was incredible, politely attentive and friendly. It’s clear that there was an appropriate level of FoH staff, no skimping…. And the food was amazing. Simple as that. My partner and I had the special for mains, chicken, wrapped in ham with a cheese filling, and a subtle truffle sauce. It was delicious. The chicken was so tender, the flavours brilliant. We had sides of broccoli and green beans. Simple, but beautifully cooked, seasoned and flavoured. We had a great time. And will absolutely be back. Try it. I promise you you will be blown away with the food and hospitality.

Special dinner with a set menu of dishes from the owners area in Italy. All really nice and the evening drifted slowly on. Very smart and friendly place. Our favourite in Bray which offers very stiff competition. It doesn't need a Michelin star as it is excellent already

We haven't been here for a while so it was lovely to return and to such a warm welcome from Giancarlo and his team. The food, as ever, was excellent. I was pleased to see the Champagne selection has been increased. Highly recommended. Service is good and all the team are friendly and welcoming.

What can I say- This is possibly the best italian restaurant Ive dined in the UK. I have dined in fancier places in London but nowhere have i come across the warmth, service and truly magnificent food coupled with wonderful friendly staff. Truly outstanding! Not often I say that. We went for Sunday lunch - fixed price menu…3 or 4 course. From Anti-pasta to Desserts - the choices were plentiful. The pasta dish (mushrooms) was one of the best I had ever eaten. The whole meal was faultless. Service was attentive and nothing was too much trouble. My only criticism would be and given it was a Sunday lunchtime, so perhaps a little leeway should be given - if you are bringing small children, this is not a playground! Parents…control your kids!

Conveniently located with parking the restaurant has a modern upmarket feel. Giancarlo Caldesi welcomed us warmly. Our meal comprise an arancini ‘amuse bouché’ followed by stuffed courgette flower then lamb two ways. My companions had escalopes, an sea bass & pasta followed by grilled king prawns, sea bass and various other fish. The food was perfectly cooked and the service non intrusive yet impeccable. We will definitely be back!

I can’t speak highly enough of Giancarlo Caldesi, he treats guests with the ultimate care and kindness and went out of his way to make sure we had a perfect lunch recently, even offering to sign a book dedicated to our child! The food is superb, and the wine list is also fantastic.

We went for an anniversary dinner with our best friends, and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, although trying to eat four courses was perhaps a bit over ambitious. The freshly made pasta was beautiful and I would have been happy to eat that all night. We were seated in the back room in the conservatory area which meant we could hear the rain come down which made the evening all the more romantic. The staff were attentive and helpful in explaining the menu to us.

An amazing day with Giancarlo, from the moment we arrived - very relaxing and inclusive. Learnt a number of dishes but moreover had an amazing experience and a lovely lunch; even had Alain Roux pop in to say hello. Higher recommend a visit I have already booked another day for later in the year.

We had a cooking class with Giancarlo and had a fun and delicious time. We enjoyed learning how to make some traditional dishes, and enjoyed eating them even more. After the class we had a lovely 6 course meal (we prepped 3 of the courses in the class) with Giancarlo. The food, service and company were fantastic.

Burrata and tomatoes straight out of a very cold fridge rendered the dish tasteless. The fistful of salt in the potato cake, which the chef acknowledged was a mistake, spoilt the otherwise good lamb dish. The seafood stew was full of dead or broken crustaceans apart from a few clams and one mussel. Staff were pleasant and attentive but that is not enough to compensate for the basic errors in a relatively expensive dinner. Highlight was the sea bass ravioli.

Pasta starter was good and full of flavour. Selection of seafood for the main course which was poor and certainly not worth the money. Two king prawns over cooked and bitter. Small piece of seabass and mackerel accompanied by one piece of squid and a selection of lettuce leaves. At best should be served as a starter. Two drinks, one starter and two mains £170 including service charge (had this removed as it certainly wasn't justified).

Just amazing. Every single course was spectacular. Wonderful staff as always and perfect surroundings. Tasting menu out of this world. We were sorry not to see Giancarlo because it's always fun when he's there, but a fabulous evening nonetheless. Thank you everyone!

I signed up to Giancarlo's Lowcarb Seminar having transitioned to a low carb diet I wanted to get a chefs perspective and in this case his own personal journey. Giancarlo is very open and honest with his journey explaining how, why and where he is now (which is in a better place health wise). Included in the Seminar was a low carb lunch consisting of low carb focaccia, braised beef cheeks with vegetables and to finish an amazing chocolate cake .... I enjoyed every dish but most of all the fact that in his restaurant menu there is an option to eat Lowcarb and still enjoy being a foody.

This is high class Italian cooking delivered with style and charm. My beef carpaccio, sea bream ravioli and tiramisu were each delicious and well executed. My wife’s burrata with heritage tomatoes, and fettuccini with wild mushrooms was equally delicious. Service is excellent, efficient and friendly. Strongly recommended.

Rude Italian Georgie on arrival, felt the need to try be funny and make my wife feel awkward. Delivers wine menu and further plays in front of the guests and continues the awkwardness. Arroncini pre starter, lacked salt and was unneeded as let me down from the off set, a sign of things to come unfortunately. Starters arrive, carpaccio is underwhelming, no beef flavour and completely over powered by the rocket and balsamic, although was fresh just lacked the flavour as costing 17.50…Scallops were cooked well, seasoned well but very small in size, more when scallops than actual plump scallops, about the size of my thumb nail almost. Again well over priced at 18.50….Secondi fettuccini and Ragu, bland, underwhelming and lacked any Seth for a ragu, prized on being Italian I would’ve expected ted this cooked for hours with various herbs etc. Again over priced. Saved simply by swapping this for the seabed ravioli. Sea bass ravioli was well cooked, good filling, good flavour. Herbs came through to start finished with the subtle sea bass flavour, complimented well with the sauce. Would recommend this. Mains.Lamb shoulder, cutlet and potatoes. Lacked seasoning, which let the whole plate down, lamb was well cooked but very small in size, couple of mouthfuls per item, pea purée was two dots on the plate with no other veg. Sauce was lacking depth as well. Very over priced at 28.50.Belly of pork, this should have been called porchetta, as it was a rolled belly stuffed not belly of pork traditional, again lacked seasoning, although the pork was soft and herbs came through it just underwhelmed. Sauce was lacking depth again and was expensive for what it was. Canolli with pear, 9.50 for a single compliment and a price of pear, the cannoli was Rock hard and could’ve been used as a weapon, filling was too rich and elements did not harmonise. Overall for a total of 234.89 I felt robbed coming out of this place, chefs need to understand seasoning and more attention to detail, seems they were out numbered and struggled o give the experience expected for such a place. Seems they are out of touch with surrounding establishment and think they can charge prices that others are doing also without delivering quality

Venturing out of London to meet with friends for a break, this little gem was the highlight of our time in Bray. The food was delicious and so fresh. I very much enjoyed the fish and the home made pasta. So, so good.

I booked this restaurant months in advance, then had to change the booking a few times and the staff were very helpful with this. We were served arancini with compliments from the chef to start. I had scallops, seabass ravioli and tiramisu. My partner had the selection of meats and beef ragu and bomboloni. The food was amazing and the staff were very attentive and helpful. The owner, GianCarlo was also there and kept us entertained with his stories and recommendations. Cannot recommend enough!

Fabulous lunch - loved the food, presentation, decor and service. Will absolutely come back. It was a higher end business lunch and certainly up to standard. We sat outside the n a sunny day but as it is a covered area it was not too hot. I had two starters and a selection of sorbets. All very good.

I visited with a family group at an anniversary celebration - the whole restaurant was booked on 27th June. I have suffered a stroke and i use a wheelchair. M y meal was prebooked with a request that it was liquidised. My meal arrived not liquidised. I could not eat and it was therefore returned. it was replaced by an individual cheese flan which was tiny. I was then bought three tiny spoonsfull of icecream for my dessert while everyone else was given tirmisu which I was not offered. I therefore hardly ate a thing. I had to visit the toilet and the campartments were tiny and made no provision for anyone with a disability. I had miserable experience where I felt like a third class citizen with the restaurant making no effort at all to accommodate my disability.

In a village with such other renowned restaurants there is also this excellent Italian. The menu has a good number of choices for each course. The better restaurants cannot have a large menu like so many Italians as the food cannot be of the necessary quality and freshly cooked like here. I started with an excellent calamari in tomato and garlic sauce. Then I had the sea bass ravioli as my main, again excellent. There is seating indoors and semi-outdoors in a conservatory extension out the back. This was the first time we had eaten there. Everywhere is nice though. Service is good and friendly. There is limited parking at the front but there are places along the road. If you like good quality proper Italian food this is a place for you.

we ate here at the weekend - my husband booked it for my birthday weekend.the food was amazing but i've taken a star off or a couple of reasonswe both had scallops to start but one of mine was half the size of the others - very noticeable - i even made joke but it fell on deaf ears! so please check portion control.mains again were delicious i had the halibut and my husband had the veal.we both had tiramisu and were very underwhelmed - it didn't taste of anything very disappointing considering the cost of it. i think my husband was disappointed they didn't do anything for my birthday.overall it was a lovely place, lovely staff and great atmosphere had to mention all the above especially when you are paying good money you expect everything perfect.

Decent food but mind bogglingly overpriced. You can eat far better in London for much less. Oh yes and the owner is very handsy with the female guests which is very creepy. Stick to the Hinds Heas

Absolutely love this place. Amazing Italian dishes prepared by Gregorio. Excellent warm and friendly service given by Georgio and of course the whole of the caldesi family. Throughout the lockdown they have continued to support the locals and I think in return they have captured the hearts of the locals.. simply an awesome family. Love the new garden area and the Sunday coffee gathering is such fun! Well done guys

Great food, wide choice of options with excellent service at a reasonable price for the area. In a a COVID safe environment.....booking recommended.

Wonderful lunch at Caldesi, well done on the outside arrangement, very well organised. Fabulous food from start to finish.

My favourite restaurant. Staff are fantastic, service is always very good. Sat outside but the heaters kept us warm.

My husband surprised me with a lovely dinner at Caldesi. We have occasionally been going to this restaurant for the last 9 years. It never fails to go beyond our expectations. The chef dazzled me with genuine Italian flavours, not the mere adaptation of classics but culinary journeys to Italy while being in Uk.The staff, lately guided by Giancarlo and Giorgio are always friendly and highly professional.The effort to comply and quickly adapt to the latest regulations is unbelievable, the covered outdoor space together with the service guarantee the excellent Caldesi style and quality.Highly recommended ( I am Italian, my grandad opened a restaurant in 1947 in Sorrento and I am used to quality of the gastronomy of Capri and Amalfi Coast )
