The primary goal of any restaurant that claims to be a higher end eatery in the middle of a city centre should be the quality of its food, but sadly, that's where the calcutta club fails. First of all, the portions are tiny, and I mean, tiny. They come in either very large size dishes with a minute amount of food or a tiny bowl that's filled to the brim that wouldn't even fill a growing child. We were a hungry group of 4 and ordered the following: Starters Chicken platter Vegetarian platter Amrtodari fish Mains Chicken Rogan Josh Punjabj Karahi chicken Lamb biryani Paneer karahi Sides Garlic naan Peshawar naan Tandoori roti Plain naan Pilau rice Desserts Gulab jamun with pistachio kulfi One Indian tea The starters were piping hot, juicy and flavoursome with spice and garnished well. So expectations were high. The mains were spiced well but not enough to share, let alone fill a stomach. The meat and chicken has all been pre-boiled and then thrown into masala to disguise it's damp, limp-wristed flavour. The rice was not long-grain basmati, which for ANY Indian restaurant owner or frequentir will tell you, should be a punishable offence. Then there's the prices. The average main here costs around 15 pounds and sundries like naan and rice cost £4 to £5 EACH! The Desserts cane and I couldn't bring myself to even try it. I sipped on the authentic tea which... wasn't. The service was good. The manager greeted us on entry, took our coats and we were promptly shown to a table.The service team themselves were polite, professional and knowledgeable and seemed to know the menu. £155 for 4. That's about £39 each for what was spectacularly average fayre disguised in authentic settings. If this is what passes for a decent curry house.here in the East Midlands, well let me tell you Nottingham, you have MUCH to learn and see.

Fantastic food. The Specials Lamb to start, King prawn purée followed by King Prawn Karahi and chicken tikka Rogan Josh amongst other things were the highlight. The service is second to none and can safely say this is the Best Indian I have been to. Our serves as always were superb!

Customer service is awesome. Also they very accommodating for the last minute arrangements. Food is superb. They made our special day more special.

On Wednesday evening 3 of us enjoyed an excellent meal before going to the theatre, taking advantage of the discounted rate for early customers. We shared 3 starters including a "special" of tempura binding which was exceptional with a good sauce. We also had salmon tikka and a chicken dish. All the mains were lovely too, each with distinct flavours. Chicken Saag, King Prawn T Masala and butter chicken. All accompanied by rice and garlic Naan. Another great meal served by welcoming friendly staff.

Very disappointing visit this time, very disorganised. Had a very big table in more interesting in them!! It was my husband’s birthday and not a mention of it nothing. Chicken was very dry and poor quality in the curry, garlic nan very greasy. Been before and never had such poor service and quality of food!

The food was fantastic and the service was great. The staff manage to strike the right balance between fun and professional. Very accommodating and looked after our large party really well.

What a wonderful find the Calcutta Club restaurant was to celebrate a family 60th birthday. From the moment we showed up to the moment we left the customer service was second to none. We were made to feel so welcome by host and the team. I had left a little note on the online booking to say it was a special birthday and so I was really touched when we were seated by Sonia who had decorated the table (I didn’t ask for this, which made it all the more special!) it was fab! Sonia looked after us all evening so much so that we didn’t have to ask anything. The food was sublime. Beautifully presented and I want to say pleasantly different to any other south East Asian restaurant we’ve been to; Light, flavoursome dishes without the oily heaviness or overly flavoured dishes. An absolute MUST is the dessert - Gulab with Pistachio and Rosewater ice cream. Simply beautiful. The flavours were divine and all home made! Perfect restaurant for date night or a family evening with so much choice for vegetarians too (which was perfect for the birthday girl). Thank you to the wonderful chef and his team. Dana

10 of us came for a meal on the 30th. From the minute we walked in the staff was very welcoming and attentive throughout the night. Our waitress was so lovely and smiling all the time, we had a laugh with her too, didn’t catch her name but she made our night very rememberable. The food was amazing as ever. Definitely will be going back again. Top marks to the chef & all the staff. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

3nd time dining at The Calcutta Club and even better than 1st 2 times time. We were a large party but got the same level of service and care as if we were just a couple. The staff went to great lengths to ensure we had a great time, even getting the chef to adjust a dish so a first time curry eater could be introduced to Indian food in the best way possible. Great food, great staff, a must for curry eaters !

Amazing food and service. Good vegetarian selection too. A new favourite for us and you get a discount before 6.30pm (can't remember if this applies every day, so it's best to check) Definitely recommend.

I booked a little late, so I almost didn't get in here, but I was messaged back quickly when there was a cancellation, and I'm happy I got to go. The food was terrific. They even did a dish for me that wasn't on the menu. Service was brilliant, and I cannot praise this place enough.

Booked this restaurant as I have heard it's a good place to eat. Well... I'm not sure where to start! I specifically asked for a quiet part of the restaurant as I am hard of hearing. When we arrived we were a little early. No issues, the meet and greet a perfect gentleman showed us to our table. For two, in the quiet part of the restaurant. Considering it is Christmas and the restaurant was full and buzzing, it was a perfect place for us as it was a meal for my wife's birthday. We have had many curries in our time. This absolutely 💯 is our #1, we were in Amsterdam last year and an Indian restaurant there. We rated #1 now #2. If you like traditional service, good tasting curry you HAVE TO EAT HERE. We had king prawn Puri and Lamb chops to start, and it was delicious the prawns were divine. 2 mains naan and of course chips 🤦🏽‍♂️bottle of wine £86 worth EVERY penny. Another good thing here they DO NOT add a service charge, which in this day an age is a blessing, I chose to tip 15£ as it was an impeccable experience.

First time dining here, will certainly NOT be the last. Food was excellent and service was great.

Always recommend Calcutta club. Every time I have visited the food, service and atmosphere have been faultless. On a recent occasion I organised a work Christmas meal with my team and they provided fantastic service and food as usual. The waiter made conscious effort to put us on a round table alongside providing great recommendations. Will definitely come again soon!

Stumbled on The Calcutta club , out of the three Restaurant’s all in a row. It was a great move as it was friendly , busy fabulous service . The food was amazing . The wine not over expensive and a big thank you to the waitress Puja. Friendly professional and smiled , a massive plus . Worth a visit folks!

We were fortunate to get a short notice reservation here due to a cancellation and I am so glad we were able to eat here whilst in Nottingham. Located opposite the Park Plaza hotel the restaurant and it's interior are beautifully decorated and when you step inside you get that premier feel and know that you're in a high class establishment. The restaurant was packed to the rafters with customers and Christmas parties and was hive of activity as staff flitted from table to table swiftly and efficiently taking orders and delivering food. Our waitress was superb and kindly drew our attention to an earlybird offer that had escaped our notice. The menu is quite extensive with plenty to choose from, when the starters arrived the aroma of the food was mouth watering and the taste was superb. This was only surpassed by the arrival of the mains we ordered, with each dish being full of flavour and chilli heat. Overall from start to finish our visit was incredible, none of us had any complaints or issues with the food, drink, service or atmosphere. If you're in the area and you like high quality indian food, you should visit the Calcutta Club.

Very nice food but very busy. Had to ask a few times for drinks so only had 2 drinks all night. They forgot a part of the meal so had to wait for that to be made. Very, very noisy, could hardly hear yourself speak. Don't think we would go again on a weekend.

Great experience at Calcutta club overall. My friend took me there once and I took my friends there again. Food was great and special mention to Sonia, who was amazing, her food recommendations were on point. All the other staff there were really friendly and great hospitality. The Garlic naan, Karahi paneer and Salmon Tikka were amazing. Would surely got there again to try more of their food.

Sensational service and amazing food. Booked a table for 5.30 on a Saturday as we have a 16month old boy, and were a little nervous as to how it might be received. We were taking out some visiting friends who have never been out for a curry in Nottingham. The waiting staff were simply fantastic. Making a special effort with our boy and also making the rest of us feel so welcome. The food was also amazing. The boatman’s fish curry is one of the best I’ve ever eaten. Can’t wait to go back.

As always the food, service and evening was great and Vegetarian meals were excellent. Highly recommend.

This is my favourite Indian restaurant EVER! A little extreme you may say, well allow me to explain. From the moment you enter the door your experience starts. The welcome is wonderful and warm. The food is just simply unbeatable. We eat here often and from time to time our friends that join us fancy a change of venue, and every time to attempt to find another restaurant to even match the quality, service and choice in Nottingham we fail miserably. We’ve been doing this now for almost 7 years and still on accession we try other places and still no one in or around Nottingham can beat these guys. The whole experience, the staff, the owners the venue are just so amazing, top of their game and have been for many many years. Highly recommend you give it a try, you simply can’t be disappointed.

Out of this world, I’ve wanted to visit the Calcutta Club for some time but with a general busy schedule I have struggled .. when I saw they had the Diwali evening I simply had to make it and WoW 🤩 was it worth it .. I will be back again very soon 👌🏼 The food, service and overall food being was magnificent, thank you ☺️

Unfortunately, my experience is not positive. I don't know if it's right to rate all as 1 star, but the waiter left a terrible impression on us. These 2 reasons. The Indian waiter did not find our order sufficient! We ordered small quantity for 2. The guest may be on a diet. The guest may not have to fall in love with Indian food. Does everyone have to order a table full of food? What kind of approach is this? Can't you teach your waiters to be polite and humble? The only note I want to say to the waiter here is; If everyone eats as much as her, we won't be able to stay fit! and asked us for a tip. Do we live in USA? I don't feel obliged to tip in the UK. I think the waiter's job is to serve and ensure that guests are satisfied. Not bossing us around all the time and not being too loud and not to disturb tables! This behavior that no Nottingham resident deserves. I am sorry to experience this awful approach.

Absolutely stunning !! We have wanted to visit for some time but other commitments have gotten in the way. But having received an email with regards a special Diwali themed evening we simply had to attend and WoW am i glad we did.. Every single mouthful of the food was divine. The staff were lovely/ polite/ prompt without being pushy and finished off the whole event beautifully. We will be back soon
