Only outdoor seating (but we were lucky with the weather) and not much of that. But the coffee and croissants were great and the service excellent.

This intimate family run Coffee House & Patisserie at 131 Richmond Road, Kingston Upon Thames, KT2 5BZ is off the scale, its so good. Patisserie Chef Elif baked for The Four Seasons Hotel for 18 years and now caters for locals and we love what she prepares fresh every day. Elif, Emre and Eray are part of our community. They know everyone, what you like to eat and how you like your coffee. Their Covid protocols and hygiene are the best we have seen in Kingston. They, like many, have been hit hard by the Covid closures but are determined to stay open during the new lockdown and tell us they will operate on a `Grab & Go` basis. The opening times are the same:- Monday closed, Tuesday - Sunday 9am-3pm. Please support them. The best way to describe them is "Going for a coffee and a snack at Cakewalk is like visiting my mother and enjoying delicious home baked cooking and catching up on family gossip, it feels just like my home." These are troubled times and everyone needs to help each other through to the other side, so why not do it for you local coffee shop and enjoy a great coffee at the same time. Now mainly serving through the big front windows for take away or outside seating (with heaters if necessary) they are doing their bit to safeguard customers. The coffee is excellent and, having finally tried the homemade lentil soup, having always had the chicken noodle soup, I can tell you that they are both lovely and come accompanied with some nice and warm French bread/baguette. Run by a lovely, friendly, couple, everything here is spot on, coffee, cakes, scrambled eggs (oh yes, the scrambled eggs), bagels and soups! We live down the road and love it - pop in, you won't be disappointed. For sure!

The coffe is great and the bagels are excellent - New York with pastrami! And having been told the scrambled eggs are amazing, tried it this morning for late breakfast/brunch - and they are indeed amazing and a very substantial serving too. Plenty of beautifully cooked eggs with some salad leaves and small tomoatoes dressed with balsamic and three slices of lovely toast. And the home made cakes etc look really good. I had scrambled eggs and my hubby had chicken soup --both were phenomenal. I also had panna cota for dessert, you need to try it and see for yourselves! The owner apparently worked as a chef in Four Seasons, i guess that explains the quality and the service of the food. The atmosphere is so cozy and chic and the employees are attentive. Great cafe in Kingston, and the prices are cheap compared to the quality of the food. There were some vegan options that i wanted to give it a try as well, but i guess ill give it a try next time! This place does a lot of things right but it is a very small space, so its not great for kicking your heels back and having a long catch-up which is a shame. So what's good?- Gorgeous selection of enticing cakes, bakes and pastries, all really well presented- Big selection of wares so there's something for everyone- Clean, modern and quite chic decor- Good quality coffee- Very clean and hygiene-consciousWhat's not so good?- the inside seating is cramped so you're quite on-top of each other- The tables are tiny and quite low with stools instead of chairs, so it's not comfortable- Basement seating section is an attempt to maximise seating but is a strange space- Staff perfectly professional but lacked warmth and friendlinessThe lack of space really is a great shame because this place could easily attract swaths of patrons who are after a longer, more relaxed visit.Would I go back? For some take-away coffee and cake - definitely! For a very quick coffee and cake meet up - yes if I was in the area. For a long overdue natter with a good friend - no, unfortunately not.

Dear Everyone. I have been going here since day 1.I love the special teas, the soups, baguettes, cheesecakes to die for... I work in this industry as well for the last 10 years. I appreciate small, independent places like this. I'd rather buy my food and drink here than in a Starbucks or Pret. Yes, it is small, but there is nothing to do about it, just pray that one day these beautiful people will be able to get a massive coffee shop! I can say I am a regular costumer. To be very honest, yes maybe they raised their prices but I haven't ever realised till I read one of the comments here. I am not rich, not even close to it. But I know my food, I know my drink, and I respect myself enough not to buy some factory made cheap, bad quality items. For me it is worth that extra few penny. Will be always going back!

I like Cakewalk and have been on many occasions to enjoy to home made produce. I always thought that although it was a little more expensive than other places around the quality was worth the extra. Of course there are limits to what I or anyone will pay for quality and a smaller portion for 40% more money is beyond what I am willing to pay. It's a pity as it was a really handy place to go but then the Bike Warehouse place next door does excellent coffee too which is every bit as good and they haven't put their prices up 40%. It's a no brainer. Please Cakewalk, think again.

Was planning to sit in but cafe so small - there's only 3 mini tables and stools to sit on.....so after placing my order and paying... I elected to go downstairs following a sign indicating that there was more seating there. Ha ha ha! 2 mini tables to the left (with stools to sit on)(no natural light) and the toilet to the right. So changed my mind and sat outside where there are 7 tables under a canopy....fine if you like sitting outside adjacent a busy road. Tea and cake excellent. Service good.

I took my daughter here for a treat on a Sunday morning. It all seemed lovely and the hot chocolate and panini that she had were great. However, they didn't stock Rooibos tea which is the only tea I drink so I asked for a cup of hot water so that I could use my own teabag. This was fine and I was served a nice pot of hot water very promptly - so far so good. However, when I asked for the bill I was appalled to see that I had been charged £2 for the hot water - ridiculous. I quite often ask for boiling water and 9 times out of 10 I'm not charged - when I have been it's been a nominal 20p and I've been told that I'll be charged and the amount at the time. It's such a shame - otherwise it's a sweet cafe but I definitely felt like I'd been ripped off.

I also go sometimes during the week to work on the laptop while sipping the fantastic coffee. You can order anything on the menu and know that it will be amazing, prepared from scratch and with such attention to detail. I work a couple of doors away from this cafe and wander over to get my lunch maybe 2-3 times a week.Any establishment like this should strive to provide the best food, at a good price with friendly courteous service. Cakewalk nails all of this. Great tasting sandwiches and cakes (which are always too tempting but that's my problem), a good price and with fantastic, friendly, service with a genuine smile.Although I always get takeaway they also clearly value their customers comfort. It's not the biggest place inside, but the outdoor seating is fully covered when needed. An expense that most other cafes don't spring for.

Cakewalk is an appealing little blue and white cafe on the Richmond Road. And I mean little. It is tiny! There is however plenty of room on the pavements where tables and chairs are nicely placed. To its credit (though I doubt it's intentional) there are also bike racks nearby so you can, yes, tie up your fixie and come in for a flat white. Not that there is anything hipster about this place. It's amiably run and has just celebrated its first anniversary (hence the balloons about the shop).Cakes are home made, coffee is excellent from good sources. I had: apricot bakewell £3.60, small americano £2.60.

Lovely cafe in surbiton! Stopped here for a coffee and a sweet treat. Friendly staff, it was a little cramped when it got busy though, but still great

I recently visited this charming café and was absolutely blown away by the experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The café has such a lovely, relaxed vibe – perfect for enjoying a leisurely breakfast or brunch. I ordered the Full English breakfast, and it was nothing short of outstanding. Every component was cooked to perfection. The sausages were juicy and flavorful, the bacon crispy just the way I like it, and the eggs were fluffy and runny, just as they should be. The tomatoes were perfectly grilled, the mushrooms had an earthy richness, and the beans were served piping hot and delicious. The highlight for me, though, was the perfectly toasted, buttered bread that tied it all together. You could tell that a lot of care went into preparing each part of the dish – it was an absolute joy to eat. What made the experience even more enjoyable was the service. Peter, who served us our food, was an absolute delight. He was not only friendly but also attentive and thoughtful, ensuring that we had everything we needed. It’s rare to come across someone who genuinely cares about making your experience memorable, and Peter did just that. He added a personal touch to our visit, and his positive energy made the meal even more enjoyable. The café itself is a lovely place to spend time – clean, cozy, and full of charm. It’s clear that the owners and staff take pride in what they do. Whether you’re popping in for a quick bite or settling in for a relaxing morning, this spot has everything you need to start your day right. I can’t recommend this café enough! If you’re a fan of classic English breakfasts done right, served with a side of fantastic service, this is the place to be. I'll definitely be returning soon for another round of that delicious Full English – and I’ll be sure to say hi to Peter when I do!
