Such a valuable place in Gorran Haven. Village shop. Post office. Bakery. Eat in. Outside seating. Dog friendly outside NOT allowed in the shop. Stones throw from fish & chips and the beach. Grab a coffee to take to the beach then a hot chocolate on the way back to the car. Staff always lovely and friendly.

Returned as a 58-year-old after holidaying in Gorran every year as a child. Cakebreads is still going strong and the Cornish pasties are just as fabulous and still made by the same family. We also stayed in the flat above once! They now have a little area at the side to sit and enjoy drinks, cakes, cream teas etc. We sat on the beach and dived into our piping hot pasties. They are truly the best ever. Thank you Cakebreads! The Mayes family.

The staff have no idea who is doing what with a system in place (if you can call it that) which doesn’t work. You order hot food & drinks in the actual shop but then wait outside to collect your order. The person on the till still serving customers after I put my order in couldn’t get off the till to make my order. 3 other staff members wondering about & filling up shelves. The person on the till could have asked the other 3 staff to take over the till OR make the order. No this didn’t happen so I wait. They then serve 2 other customers and proceed to make all their orders before mine. Am I the invisible customer who floats along with my debit card and then seemly I doesn’t exist. Total lack of team spirit at this place when I heard the older lady say to the girl ‘it’s whoever gets to the coffee machine first’ how childish. So it doesn’t matter how long you wait the order system in none existent! I wonder if it’s volunteers that run this place? Allocate a job & rota to each member because at the moment it’s the customer that suffers. No improvement in recent years. Use the shop as a shop use the outside area to take and pay for food & drinks. I’d expect the older staff to lead by example not be rude and mean to other staff.

Despite the well known staffing issues in Cornwall over half term and being very busy every time I visited, the staff were helpful and full of cheer, positively welcoming visitors back to the village. A good selection of food options and a very welcome bar with separate serving so you don't have to queue with the 'shoppers' - can't wait to go back for a little more Rattler :-)

Visit Cakebreads most weeks. This little gem of a place is the most amazing family run business. They go above and beyond to serve the community we have especially during covid achieving more than anyone could’ve wished for. There are pizza nights and alcohol evenings and the best G&Ts in village. If you’re lucky enough you’ll get to meet the owners grandchildren who are often seen helping and greeting patrons they see on a regular basis. This is what makes this business successful-amazing staff, fantastic atmosphere and the hub of the community❤️You will be made to feel most welcome- As for the outrageously inaccurate and hurtful comment below from Nottingham you ate obviously someone who delights in trying to ruin small businesses so hopefully the village will never see you return!!

Think it not possible to provide first rate cafe/restaurant service under a tarpaulin? Think again! Cakebreads does the lot: teas and sweet stuff, excellent soup and good beachside food all round. The breakfasts (which we didn't have but wished we might....or at least I did!) looked generous and pleasing. Service good...You order from the little village shop and then the food appears from the back door. Little more to be said, really it is simple food, very well cooked and presented in a family run business. It is reliable, unfussy and good. The shop is also good for everything you might need or didn't even know you might need. Popped in for a cream tea as it was our last day in Cornwall and I believe it's actually illegal to *not* have a cream tea. The surroundings could do with a little attention - you are basically seated in a make-shift tarpaulin marquee style area with garden furniture...but the tea itself was fabulous. Order at the post office/cakebreads next door and take a seat. Waiting and serving staff friendly and made sure all was ok. The tea itself was just lovely. Tras una larga caminata por la costa entre Gorran Haven y The Dodman llegar a Cakebards y probar sus expecialidades locales es una muy buena opción. Platos típicos locales, bien preparados y muy ricos.

Such an amazing place with very friendly staff selling so many delicious things! Amazing bakery items, fresh bread, Cornish pasties and doughnuts but to name a few. Everthing we have ever ordered has been so tasty. We love their homemade takeaway pizzas on a Friday night and delicious crab sandwiches. Guy also makes beautiful birthday cakes to order, his chocolate cake is unbelievably good! The post office counter and all the staff here are so efficient and helpful. Cakebreads always makes our visits to Gorran Haven so enjoyable.

Superb lunch at this lovely 'one stop shop'. Had to try the crab baguette. Cost jut under £9 so pricey but it's well worth it. You can literally smell fresh sea air as you bite into the lush fresh white crab meat. Our girls had bacon baguettes which were also good and large! Well recommended. Staff are helpful and shop is very busy but service is swift.

Nice small local shop. We spent holiday near Gorran Haven. Our son had his 10th birthday and we needed to get a proper cake for him. The owner of the shop was really nice and she prepared on her own the best cake we could have dreamed of. We made a small party on the beach then. Beautiful.

Absolutely wonderful visit. The cream tea was the best I think I’ve ever had. Warm scones, huge pot of cream and delicious jam, must be homemade. The tea was piping hot and came with an additional tea bag should you like it strong.

Haven't stayed, but excellent range of well-kept cask ales including normally a couple from Penzance Brewing Co in Crowlas, near Penzance.

What a gem! We had no idea where to go for lunch but chose the shed; a great choice! The steak was so good and the sole cooked to perfection. Great wine, appetisers and dessert to boot. Fantastic value and the service was great Thank you so much.
