Cake Cafe in Bath and North East Somerset

Have enjoyed their coffees and ice creams and had no problems. The staff were helpful. The service was efficient. For a small area on Quiet St, the layout was very good and a lot of work had gone into it.

Visited for a coffee today. The place felt grubby and needs a good clean, Cutlery and crockery felt like it had only been wiped clean. Toilet area very unclean. Not a nice experience.

Visited today. Staff were not particularly enthusiastic but the panini was ok and the tea was good - served in a pot and tasty. However, the place felt like it needed a good clean. Everywhere was just slightly dirty, but the toilet was awful. Not just from use on the day, but the back of it by the seat hinges can’t have been cleaned for ages and the rest of it wasn’t too sparkly either. Cafe looks nice from the outside but the experience was disappointing. Shame, as it could be a little gem.

Been here few times now nice baguette s ,lovley little place, delicious lemon cake , and a nice lady who serves .

We stopped by for a quick coffee and cake and the place was practically empty. The coffee and cake were nice, but the lack of a/c was rather annoying.

we saw a couple of Cake Cafes in Bath and tried this one for a light lunch. It was ok but nothing special. Not much else to say about it.

We grabbed some stuff for lunch about 1030 and selection was not great. What we ordered was nice and we enjoyed it when we finally got to eat it. Not sure I would seek the place out to visit again, in fact I wouldn’t. It is not bad but not inspiring.

Lovely break from the daily grind. Visiting Bath for a few days and stumbled across this little gem. Chilled and relaxed atmosphere, a sneaky muffin was delicious so managed to offset any guilt with the fact it was actually worth it and my flat white was great. Recommend it here for a coffee and cake.

Popped into the Cake Cafe on George Street in Bath one Saturday afternoon and the coffee was lovely and the cakes are amazing. The Chocolate Short Cake is amazing and the Vegan/GF cake was so nice. Would 100% definitely recommend this Cafe, the cakes are made on site and you can tell, so yummy. (support the local community). The pricing was reasonable and will be popping back in on my lunch break or on a day off to catch up with friends. Friendly staff makes all the difference in this day and age. Thank you Cake Cafe, see you again soon x

The cakes on display in the window were fairly average. Inside was the deepest fruitiest cheesecake I have ever had in my life....and I'd ha a few!. A warm welcome and an excellent coffee too ! What a find !

Enjoyed the dark hot chocolate drink. Cornish pastry was tasty. The children enjoyed their chocolate fudge ice cream. Bit expensive. Small place. Nice ambience.

Popped in here on the 14th Nov. The filled baguette I had was good and very filling. I think it was chicken and salad or something of that ilk. The cake I had was a decent size and tasted delicious too. The service was friendly and while I didn't have a chance to try their coffee I'm sure it was good and if I'm ever in Bath again I'll be making a return visit.

Stopped for coffee but waitress clearly not keen on customers. Passive aggressive. Not a good morning or a or a smile. Coffee ok. Nothing available to eat that’s ready at 9am. Won’t come again. Plenty better in Bath.

Had panini, baguettes and pasties followed by a couple of cakes. Bill was under £30 for 3 including soft drinks. Staff friendly and service very fast. Quality of food excellent-very tasty.

We only needed something quick to eat as we had just arrived in Bath. Husband enjoyed his Cornish pasty and I had a nice baguette. Wish we'd had space for a cake because they looked wonderful.

We were passing this establishment and thought we would pop in for a coffee and cake.. Outside was a surly looking women phone and fag in hand.

Popped by for a quick lunch on-the-go and picked up their baguette, drink and cake takeaway lunch deal (it was less than a fiver, I think £4.80). They also have a shop on George Street which had a slightly different selection of fillings left.

Bij toeval kwamen we hier terecht. Ze serveren diverse zoete lekkernijen en ook wat hartige lunchgerechten. Het was vrij warm dus onze kids hadden zin in een milkshake. Deze waren ronduit teleurstellend: niet koud en niet dik genoeg. De caramel shortbread was wel lekker. De koffie en de thee waren prima. Vrij prijzig. Vriendelijke bediening.

Found it by chance today, good choice of tea & the lemon drizzle cake is a must! Stop here for lunch you will not be disappointed.

Came in for tea/coffee and cake. Drinks were fine but cakes were rather dry. Previous comments re staff can sadly be endorsed.

This place is shocking. Visited a few times , cakes dry, limited sandwich options, terrible coffee...looks like a dirty puddle and tastes bitter. Staff if not by the door smoking are miserable and to be honest I don’t blame them, they have no shame in talking to one another like utter crap. Customer service ? Non existant, no smile what so ever. Complained one day that my coffee was cold and cake was dry and was looked at like I just stepped off a spaceship, maybe an apology or a replacement would of gone a lot better. Anyways won’t visit again.

With the intention to stop for breakfast ahead of a Saturday shop with the other half we decided to try somewhere new for both us, upon entry the cafe it was welcoming with plenty of space around what would most likely be a quiet cafe even if it were busy with potential options for additional room upstairs but this was closed off so unsure on that.

Went for a quick lunch prior to the theatre. Was o.k. but not overly impressed. The baguette i had was tasty but could have been crisper and have a little more of the chicken filling. I asked for an Americana but only got half a cup of coffee in a fairly wide cup with cold milk, which I have to admit is usually o.k., but with this small amount of coffee was cold when I added the milk. The others in our party seemed fairly satisfied though i thought the fruit cake looked a bit dry. The staff were efficient but not very friendly. So we are unlikely to go there again.

Great service, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Fair pricing, nice variety of food and drink. Great for a quick snack or lunch with a friend. Would recommend

Paramos aquí para tomar un café rápido y nos sentimos tentados por los pasteles que se ofrecen, no nos decepcionaron, eran muy frescos, sabrosos y de tamaño generoso. Los cafés eran buenos, tomé un café negro helado y fue genial, mi familia disfrutó su café con leche y capuchino.

On the opening day we saw staff smoking in the street outside the cafe and throwing their fag ends down on the pavement .... Very poor first impression to make ...,,

Grotty por dentro. Personal perezoso Tomé un café y una baguette aquí. Las bagettes se ven bien en el gabinete, pero después de calentarlas son muy poco apetecibles. No había nadie allí aparte de nosotros y las mesas no estaban limpias ni borradas, y el piso parecía que necesitaba un buen barrido. 2 miserables miembros del personal de la planta baja y luego apareció otro de arriba, así que no hay excusa para el estado del lugar. Entró una familia y, mientras la madre se tomaba su tiempo para elegir qué baguette tenía para que el personal pusiera los ojos en blanco y se sonrieran mutuamente.

We order cappuccino and Late. Were ok. Cheese n onion patesry was not bad( but over heated). It looks Outside better than inside. They have display fridge full of boxes( should b in kitchen not in entrance)

This cafe has a wide choice of cakes and all things sweet !! Very hard to choose as all looked delicious. Lots of seating with space upstairs too . Friendly and efficient service.

Popped in for a coffee and cake before a concert. Ordered a brownie as it looked delicious but it was not well cooked and felt ill for the rest of the day. Coffee was ok.There was no music and as tables are so close and it is quiet it was not very comfortable to have a chat. Staff did not seem happy to be there. Do not recommend at all.

Mmm ice cream OK. Cone was stale. Wanted a bowl not given an option. Quick turn over of visitors, continental style. Pop in for a morsel during your day. Not the greatest ambience.

Happened on this cafe by chance, liked the look of it so tried it. Although spread over two floors, it was very quiet when I was there, with only the ground floor open. Served efficiently by friendly staff who brought my coffee to my table. Cakes on display looked tempting but chose to forgo these due purely to being on a diet. Decent cup of coffee, enjoyed whilst reflecting on the day in the large ornate mirror.

Come here often on a lunchtime as it is near my place of work. Always good food and coffee, and staff are polite and friendly.

This cafe was a bit of a lifesaver when we found a visit to Bath on a very wet and cold day coinciding with the Christmas market (which we had no idea about, at least until we found ourselves parking in a field a few hundred metres from the park-and-ride). That meant the city centre was even busier than usual, which meant that most cafes were packed by the time we were in need of coffee and cakes (one dishonourable exception being the Ask Italian around the corner, which despite being almost empty wouldn't seat our group for some reason). While the service was a bit chaotic (not too surprising, given how busy it was), the cakes were good and so was the coffee.

Tried two cakes (rhubarb and victoria spongecake) both very dissapointing in taste and size. Also very pricy for what you get. Good coffee though. Tip: put the name cards of the cakes INside instead of OUTside or put them at both places.

Cakes where either very mediocre or just plain disgusting. Victorian spongecake tasted like fish. Also very expensive for what your get. Would not recommend. Dirty but cosey place though.

We used this venue as a place to have breakfast or lunch as we were in the Travelodge next door. The menue is a bit limited, but what they do is tasty and freshly made.

This place could be great but unfortunately it lacks good customer care and cleanliness. When we got in, we tried to order but were told to find a table first. We went downstairs to ‘additional seating’ which was in fact just four extra tables. We sat tucked away under the stairs on a table that wobbled like a see-saw. We ordered food and the panini only had filling on one half. Service was poor and the whole place needs a deep clean

Pass this cafe by chance and attracted by the ice cream sign at the front door. I ordered a tuna panini, which turned out I like it a lot, to take away and also a mixed berries cheese cake. The cake box was too large and the whole cake turned upside down. But the cake is nice, sweet with a little bit salty flavoring. Will Visit there again for these deserts

Visited for a quick stop during the Bath markets in December. Nice find , very sweet. Nice cakes. Nice place to relax

We popped in here for a coffee and cake to escape from the hoards in Bath for the Xmas market. I grabbed a table while my husband placed the order at the counter - after ten minutes of sitting there were still no signs of the ordered coffee. We asked when the coffee was coming and they had obviously forgotten or lost the order - it did arrive after another five minutes but it wasn't worth the long wait.

Came here for a hot drink and cake, all looking good when we walked in but...

Went there today for a quick drink before heading home.

Yum! Lovely warm scones with cream. Shame jam is now served in little plastic packets :( Decent pot of tea and americano coffee with it. Friendly service

6 of us popped in here for a coffee on our way back to our holiday house - a break from walking the hills! It was late afternoon, but we were given a warm welcome, and there was an excellent choice of coffee. (The cakes look great too, but we didn’t give in to temptation!)

We stopped on our wander around the town. The cakes were lovely and it was a great little place. The toilet wasnt the best but was serviceable.

Used it twice. Lovely fresh baguettes, generously filled. Order at counter and table service. Fresh clean and pleasant.

A small cafe on one of the side streets in the city centre. Looks quite nice from the outside but inside it's actually totally lacking in any atmosphere and service was lacking any interest. Scone, clotted cream and jam was nice as was the rooibos.

Sin embargo, llegamos más tarde de lo planeado y no tuvimos mucho tiempo. Vimos el cartel fuera de Cake cafe que anunciaba pasteles y excelentes ofertas de comida de sandwich. El café es pequeño y terminamos abajo en el sótano fuera del baño. Los sándwiches eran pobres al igual que las bebidas, pero estaba lejos de ser barato. 5 bocadillos y 3 bebidas fueron 45. 00! ! ! Definitivamente no lo recomiendo! ! !

Damn good coffee and damn good cake. Worth dropping in to even if the service was from what seemed a teenage girl devoid of personality.

Sometimes it's really nice! My Mum swears by their rock cake and won't go anywhere else when she comes to Bath. I've been in a few times and find it very hit and miss. Sometimes the staff are (as another reviewer put it) "surly" and seem to have quite poor job satisfaction but other times they're nice as pie so it's like a lucky dip as to whether you'll get good service or not. Bath is very competitive for little coffee shops like this so I can't give it more than 3/5 given the alternatives available.

Good place for tea and cake. Nothing out of the ordinary good or bad. Very generous slice of lemon cake and 2 pots of tea under £9.

Visited for lunch. Counter full of dirty crockery and staff didn’t look up or acknowledge our presence and continued with her paperwork. Not busy so not really any excuse. No atmosphere or friendliness and extremely disappointed. Food delivered at different times, which is always awkward. Cakes in the window uncovered, which always puts me off. Maybe it was an off day.

Called in for lunch. Waitress gave no welcome and barely looked up from stirring her own coffee. My wife saw sourdough crumpets on the menu and asked for them, the waitress seemed to have no idea what she was on about.

Stopped by on the usual tourist trail looking for a good place for coffee. The cafe was quiet and did not have the feel of some of the trendier establishments surrounding it but the cakes looked so good we decided to give it a try. Had the lemon drizzle and oreo cake. Both were delicious and tasted homemade and fresh...The only criticism being that where the cakes are displayed and therefore exposed to air the outer edges were a little dry but the rest of the cake was absolutely amazing. Shame we're not local otherwise this would be my favourite place to go for cake!

Walking by we dropped in for tea to escape a rain shower. Initially asked for cream tea but they were all it of cream. So asked for nice looking chocolate cake. Tea came first then reminded the staff about the cake. A minuscule slice arrived shortly. I complained twice comparing it to a slice of another cake served to a customer. “ I didn’t cut that slice” was all I got. £8 for two teas and a mini cake not good and not responsive to a customer.

The Cake Cafe is a gem of a place with helpful friendly staff. On a recent visit to Bath we tried the Croissant and Latte breakfast offer at just under £4.00 which was delicious. We also had afternoon coffee and cake , I’d definitely recommend the almond and apple sponge slice. The cafe is comfortable and clean and we will certainly visit again as I noticed they serve so scrumptious looking baguettes which unfortunately we ran out of time to try

Called in a few times on the past month, choice is always great, service is always friendly so I am surprised by other comments! The rocky road is an absolute must marshmallow gooey chocolatey greatness. I will definitely be calling in again thank you!

My favourite stop off for coffee and cake when shopping in Bath. There is always a good choice of impressive looking cakes in the window and counter to choose from.

I visited for a coffee. Both of the assistants were Eastern European but spoke good Englush. However, they were both cold and so unfriendly.

I'm never leaving this place, the cake looked fantastic, the coffee was fantastic! But the smoothie ice creams are insane! Go and try them, I'm not wrong!

Popped in for lunch snack. Hit chocolate didn’t taste good and the chicken and pesto ciabatta was incredibly dry. Not enjoyable unfortunately. Peppermint tea was good though.

Popped in for tea and cake after being tempted by the cakes on display in the window. However, when we came to taste them they were not as good as they looked, being a bit hard and dry and the tea was just ok. We sat there for some time and noted that the service was not very good. Tables were left uncleared, even though staff had time to clear them. I wouldn't recommend.

We popped in for a light lunch, we both had the tuna mayo baguette. It was delicious, generous filling and came with free crisps. My friend had a coffee which she thoroughly enjoyed. The service was ok, nothing bad, nothing outstanding. And the selection of cakes was amazing, I went for the triple chocolate brownie which was delicious.

Underwhelming. Table was dirty and they refused me an extra cup to share my (mediocre) tea. Not recommended.

We had very nice cake here and the service was fine. However- as it was close to closing time we saw the staff binning loads of perfectly good food. It’s -3 outside and Bath has a huge homeless population, there’s a food bank/shelter within walking distance, we cannot fathom how anyone living in Bath could do this. Would love to see a change. All the best.

I visited the cafe at lunchtime to get a coffee and cake with my boyfriend.

Tried for second time. Cream teas very nice but place still looks grimy! Uncleared table and it stayed like that until our order came. Young staff are uninspiring and not particularly friendly. Place could be a gold mine with few simple improvements.

Came across this cafe whilst on a shopping trip. The display of cakes in the window were what caught our eye. Good selection & all very tempting! Carrot cake, rock buns & chocolate brownie went down nicely. Tea was lovely & so was the hot chocolate which my son informed me! Only downside was that inside could do with a refresh as the furniture looks a bit worn & the toilet was a bit abounded.

Interior is a bit less swanky than the exterior, with the rather steamed up windows and scrubbed floor, but the cakes are really good with heaps of choice and delicious when they arrived. We were heading to the Spa and had to get something to eat on the way because we were on a tight timeframe, so we nipped into the Cake Cafe to get something to take away. It was the cakes in the window that initially caught our interest.

My family and I stopped by whilst sightseeing in Bath today, for a quick coffee/hot choc and cake to give us an energy boost. The cafe looks so promising from outside and is in a prime location. I felt compelled to post this review in the hope that the owner will see it and realise just what they are missing out on! We went in and there were four young ladies standing behind the counter. Not one of them smiled or said hello. This immediately riled us but we were in need of sustenance so we persevered. We ordered and then looked around for a table to find there were only tables of 2 available. We asked if we could push two together and they said we could but no offer to do it for us. I noticed the stairs and asked if there was more seating upstairs. They replied that it was shut! Perhaps there was a valid reason for this but what a waste on a busy Saturday to not have upstairs open. When I ventured up to the toilet later it looked very comfy up there and I was disappointed that we had sat at a very bare metal legged table and similar chairs when there were snuggly sofas upstairs. My husband and I wondered if it was closed so that the girls' lives were made easier by not having to go up and down. We just got the impression none of them could be bothered. Our coffees were very nice and well presented. My husband had a flapjack which was tasty. My daughter had a hot chocolate which was good although we did notice after ordering that there was actually two different hot chocolates on offer but we hadn't been asked which one we wanted, just given what we'd got. We still don't know which one we ended up with! As we left no one said thank you or goodbye. I just feel it is such a shame that this attractive cafe is not reaching its' full potential.

This is a small café over 2 floors, selling snacks and a huge variety of delicious looking cakes. It was difficult to know which one to choose, but the Belgian hot chocolate we had was a winner.

We had a pit stop here after a busy shopping trip! Decided to go a bit of main high street as busy with the Christmas market. The cake was Devine with nice tea. Only downside was the toilets that could of down with a better clean up but overall a nice place to have a treat and cuppa whilst shopping/sight seeing.

This place felt like it was on the way out! The place was dirty, the crockery had the residue of previous coffee/tea users, stained. I asked for a clean cup - not much better. Don’t bother with this place - too many other really nice places to eat!!

Myself and partner stopped here for lunch after exploring the Christmas Markets. Seeing as everywhere in the main streets were rammed it was a relief when we found somewhere that we could sit. We both had a baguette and a drink, prices reasonable. Used the restroom and agree with other reviews on here that it's in need of a good clean.

4 x cream teas were decent enough and staff happily swapped the stated tea for coffee but the place is dirty! Toilet disgusting and no loo roll. Big improvements needed here on hygiene

There is lots of choice in Bath. However we were looking for small and unassuming. The trump card was the cakes displayed in the window. Service with a smile and home baking, a winning combination!

I visited this cafe on Sunday after spotting it from the park and ride bus. What a disappointment. The floor was filthy as were the bottoms of the tables. The toilet was disgusting - dirt on the bottom of the wash basin and the toilet pedastal. The skirting boards were filthy. I had the treacle cream tea - no taste to it at all. Plenty of staff all standing around looking board - no customer service what so ever. What a shame as this could be a lovely place.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon and found the selection of cakes and other desserts to be quite modest and disappointing even. For a cake shop, shouldn't there be lots of different cakes to choose from? Service was great but the selection needs serious improvement. My cherry rhubarb "cake" was decent but nothing memorable (I can bake this at home!). My friend's treacle tart was quite bad -- breadcrumbs with sugar in a rubbery consistency??? This is a dessert??

We popped in for breakfast had some teas croissants and a bacon roll. The food was lovely and very tasty but did find the staff a bit spacey and didn't seem particularly bothered, don't think they smiled the whole time we were in there. Felt like we were a bit of an inconvenience but the food made up for it.

The selection and quality of the cakes and sweet treats on offer is wonderful -- seriously good sticky toffee cake, nice and moist, and the slices they offer are very generous -- but the staff seemed a bit spacey (on their phones, not really responsive). I didn't really mind as we were the only people in, but it might be a bit of a nightmare if busy...

Popped in for lunch. Nice cafe, friendly staff. Think we would have been better going for their take away deal. Ordered 2 panini's and 2 hot drinks. Food was nice but we felt it was a little expensive, none of the usual side salad/crisps. Had a slice of Bakewell cake which was lovely. Would go back again but for takeaway.

Went in new Cake Cafe on George Street just for a drink and snack. We had the morning speciality coffee and croissant for £2.80 offer - very good quality and value! Just need some new images of George Street café.

Bobbed in for a quick bite as spotted an empty table. Very busy with lunch time take away trade, they have 2 meal deals. Settled for coffee, earl grey tea, toffee flap jack and scones. Scones very small and reheated, tea at least 3 cups out of the pot. It seems to get a reasonable split of tourists and locals. Would we recommend perhaps not to sit in as the best deals were the take outs.
