Cairo Cafe in Reading

Visited with work colleagues for lunch after reading the review from Edible Reading and we weren’t disappointed. Ordered the King Tut ultimate breakfast and received a platter with Egyptian Moussaka, Flava beans, falafel, baba ganoush, humus… all served with warm flat bread and Egyptian tea with mint. Delicious, served with a warm smile and pistachio baklava to finish. I’ll be back again and bringing the family :)

Just discovered this today and what a gem. I’ve ordered a samosa, and a beef shawarma. The flavours are really good, lovely spices and the meat is delicious. Cheap too, way better than Greggs. If you want a delicious sandwich and a tea look no further

I found this place today and I was absolutely amazed. Spectacular all round for such a low price. The quality of the coffee is fabulous, best I've had out and about in a long time. AND THEY TAKE CASH!! Cairo Cafe boasts a 5* food hygeine rating, and all their food is made to order so they can cater for any allergies, or other requirements. I tried shakshuka for the first time, and while the texture was a little soft for me, the taste was impeccable and the flatbreads it was served with were spot on. Their other food is also brilliant, I heard no complaints and many compliments from their other patrons. I also highly recommend their lemon and mint juice, which I'd never had before, but was a true pleasure upon the tongue. Especially brilliant to chase down my eggs and mug of coffee. The mugs are a good size too, and a nice shape in the hand (I don't know why, but a mug of the right shape just increases my enjoyment of coffee). Thanks for a wonderful experience!

Have had several deliveries including King Tut. Always good, especially in hot weather with a mint tea or one the yoghurt and honey drinks.

Excellent local little cafe with amazing food, superb service and great selections. The staff are so friendly and hospitable, that you would come back just for them. They have a great selection of traditional British and Egyptian food too, ALL 100% HALAL, and their Egyptian dishes taste like you're eating in Cairo. Their prices are VERY reasonable too with some great offers thrown into the mix, you'll get more for your money. A great range of drinks that they make themselves and tasty halal British and Egyptian dishes, this is the best place in Reading and I'll be coming back for more.

This hidden gem has an array of Egyptian dishes to offer both to dine in or take away. Authentic food prepared fresh and served by the caring and welcoming proprietors Mo and Hisham. Great menu choice, authentic Egyptian food, to eat in or take away. I had the King Tutts breakfast (see photo) great flavours , good portion size and lovely to experience little bit of Cairo in the town centre of Reading!
