Caffe Ritazza - Asda Living Customer Cafe in Newport

Couldn’t fault the manger today she was overworked trying to run a cafe and kitchen alone. Disgusting for such a huge company she was so upset having to turn customers away because there just wasn’t enough clean cups etc and the queues still coming constantly meant she wasn’t able to get around to most things. Limited menu because of this. This is Christmas and that poor woman was thrown in at the deep end. Christmas is busy and should be an enjoyable time for both staff and customers but today that lady was let down by the company she works for. She deserves better from you. Shocking to see someone struggling to provide a service alone she couldn’t apologise enough. She was in from start to finish alone. That’s wrong !!!!

Disappointing Half-Term Experience – Unacceptable Customer Service I recently visited during half-term week, eager to treat my children to the hot meal deal they were looking forward to. We arrived at 2:35 pm, expecting to find it open as per the 10 am - 4 pm hours posted. However, a sign indicated the staff were on break and would return by 3:05 pm. My kids were disappointed but willing to wait, so we took a short walk and returned to the café just before 3:00 pm. When the staff member came back at 3:05 pm, I politely requested the children’s hot meal deal. To my disbelief, she informed me there would be no hot food available because they were closing at 4:00 pm. I was stunned—there was no indication that hot meals would stop being served well before closing time, and we’d waited specifically for the return of the staff in hopes of enjoying the advertised menu. I understand and respect that staff need breaks, but if the establishment is open until 4:00 pm, it should serve the full menu until that time, especially during the busy half-term period. Waiting for 30 minutes with four children, only to be told that the café wouldn’t fulfill the advertised menu, felt like a complete lack of regard for customers. When I expressed my frustration, the staff member defensively replied, “Sorry for having a break,” missing the point entirely—my issue wasn’t with her break but with the café's failure to provide adequate service during posted hours. It is certainly not the customers fault that the cafe is understaffed.

Popped for tea and bite to eat lunch time today - the girl who served us was so miserable it was beyond -had no customer service skills -burnt the first tea cake had to wait further five mins for mine so technically couldn’t eat together - my Mothers tea was stone cold and way too milky- her attitude stank will never return - mass disappointment when a person cannot even be civil and even force a smile on a miserable face.

Stopped off for coffee. Disappointed to see how empty it was - think retail park has too many choices for a coffee and that’s affecting customers.

I felt so strongly that my breakfast was not even half as good as my last one that I deleted my previous so I could re review. What a shame. After the last breakfast I was looking forward to this one. My usual veggie breakfast with no eggs was ordered. No offer of adding anything instead of the eggs. Unlike last time. So I'm paying the same money for less food. Added to my annoyance, was the fact the toast I ordered never arrived. I paid for it. However, I thought 60p wasn't worth asking for back, instead I'll leave a really long review. I could understand if the cafe was busy. Sadly that excuse can't be used as everyone else had been served. Poor service, and a list custom. I will be heading to Newport more often now, but will have to find another place for my breakfasts.

Good place for a coffee and bacon roll while shopping. Friendly staff. Pour your own tea and coffee from machine. Lift available to the cafe. Noticed oaps get 10% discount on a Wednesday so might be worth a try for light lunch.

Friendly staff, nice food and clean. Situated upstairs in the store, access is via stairs, escalator or lift. Had coffee and light snacks, all freshly made and the latter served at our table. Well worth a stop if you are in the area.

We had to visit the passport office so arrived in plenty of time. Stopped in here for coffee beforehand and then lunch afterwards. Standard open plan shop café with good disabled access and toilets. Staff were friendly and the place was clean – choice of fare was limited but very fairly priced.

Not much to choose from but stuck with the old favourite sausage chips and beans. Small portion but just enough. Beans just how I like them. Cheaper than a baguette

Stopped by here for an iced coffee/frappe but sadly it did not meet expectations as the staff did not seem sure of how to make one and I ended up with what actually tasted more like a milkshake.... I was thirsty and should really have complained but it was clear the staff were in training so I didn't bother on this occasion and can only hope they will get it right in future, if not, I will definitely complain next time!

Not a bad café has the basics ,clean ,not to pricey , good to take time out from a busy shopping trip

Upstairs above the retail shopping area of the store, great for people watching, many thanks to Amy for the perfect capuccini, just back from Italy and better than any we had there and with a lovely smile.
