Visited Wednesday 10th July. Two male staff working. The place had ten to twelve seated customers. Empty tables were covered in used cups, saucers, paper, coffee spills. The floor on the raised level had litter and discarded crisps on it. The place feels really dirty and not a place to enjoy a coffee. This is a shame as their coffee is good.

Caffè Nero in Hull city centre is ideally situated just off Victoria Square. On a midweek visit it wasn’t overly busy so we were able to find a nice window table with comfy leather seats in which to relax and watch the world go by. The coffees and service were of the high quality we expect of Caffè Nero

Service was good, Coffee was nice but very disappointed with the cleanliness of the place, should have realised on entry as the glass door was very dirty and the floor and tables not cleaned and the toilets and entrance to the toilets where disgusting so we left and used the council toilets at Victoria square. Don’t think I’ll return even to see if it’s improved especially in the times we’re living in, I don’t like giving bad reviews but the cleanliness warrants it

Drinks now served in single use cardboard cups, customers encouraged to clear their own tables- all presumably because of covid. Strange then that only one disabled toilet was open - this required a good clean, no toilet roll and soap dispenser empty and laid on its side at a time when advice is to wash hands using soap and hot water. Cafe Nero seeems to be picking and choosing which procedures to follow.

Thankfully we're not tourists, because this place certainly wouldn't give a good impression of our city. As a family, we stood at the counter waiting to be served (no queue). Two members of staff (not sure what they were doing) didn't even acknowledge us, a smile or a "we will be with you in a minute" would have sufficed! After what seemed an age, we started to feel awkward, so we left and went to Costa down the road, where thankfully, we actually got a hot drink!

Called in for a coffee with my husband yesterday around 3:30 PM there were a few people in and I thought it was really bad that a lot of chairs had already been stacked on top of the tables so it really cut down where people could sit. We managed to find a table but it wouldn’t have been the one I would have chosen if the tables and chairs hadn’t been the way they were. Coffee was nice & the female barista very pleasant but seeing as it doesn’t close until 5 pm I think they were a bit early stacking the chairs as It did give that unwelcoming feeling

Caffe Nero is a smaller chain than Costa, but offers better products in my opinion. The coffee is slightly on the strong side and may not be to everyones taste. You can always ask for a one shot coffee. But the pasteries are far superior in my IMO. This Nero is quite small and cosy. In busy times you may struggle to get a seat. Hope this is helpful.

This Caffe Nero location in Hull is in a beautiful old building. I love catching up with friends on one of their comfortable couches. It is centrally located in Hull, right across from the city center and loads of shops and Prince's Quay. The coffee and desserts are amazing, and customer service is outstanding. The barista on duty this morning (5 June) was super helpful to my vegan friend. She ordered a chai late with soy. She informed my friend the chai mix is milk based. She was extremely grateful. I was impressed because I have seen her take a lot of attitude from staff because of her beliefs. It was so nice to see a staff member be friendly and helpful like that. We placed an order for tea, coffee and cake before trying to find a place to sit. There were plenty of empty seats but every table had piles of trays with dirty dishes and mugs. The floor was littered with wrappers and crumbs. One lady was sat at a table and the one next to her had 12 mugs, 8 plates, and a plastic carton as well as spoons etc. Two men wearing Caffe Nero teeshirts were seated having a very intense conversation but ignored the chaos on the tables. They left and a waitress started to clear some tables but gave up after clearing 3 and then began to serve at the counter. The tea was a bag in acup with nowhere to put it after you have let it steep. Coffee OK but cake expensive for what it was. Will not go again.

We took our drinks to a table and waited for our breakfast to arrive. What a disappointment when it did.The photo does not do it justice, that is a tea plate it arrived onWe shall continue to frequent Caffe Nero for their coffee and cheesecake but definitely not their breakfast sandwich which at £3.75 each was a complete rip offAND it you were to temperature probe test it, I feel it would not have passed the heat test.

There are two good reasons for visiting the Café Nero in Hull. First, is the reliably good coffee and pain au raisin that the chain serves. The second is the building. Known as the Aspire Building, it stands on the site of the original Leeds General Infirmary (built in 1771). The Infirmary was demolished in 1893 and the first head office of the Yorkshire Penny Bank was built on the site to designs by G. B. Bulmer and opened in 1894. It is a grade II Listed Building. It’s a delight to sit under the high Wedgewood-blue coffered ceiling and look out over Queen Victoria Square savouring the coffee and watching the world go by.Oh, and there is a third reason for visiting – the friendly, smiling Humberside welcome.

We recently visited after countless positive reviews and recommendations from friend & family, and overall I would say that we left the restaurants feeling rather disappointed. The menu choices were great (plenty of meats, fishes, seafood, vegetarian/vegan options, etc.) and the staff were friendly and helpful. The vibe was chilled, and you felt comfortable at your table. We ordered 3 burgers (2 with meat, 1 with Halloumi), and had to wait for almost 40 minutes - yet there were only 2 other tables dining in. When the food did arrive (finally), it was only just warm and the portion was stingy (no more than 15 chips per portion). The Garbutt's Burgers: great flavour, very meaty, good quantity of onions, gherkins, etc., but the Nduja overpowered the beef burger flavour...... The Hot Honey Halloumi Burger: lacked in flavour, there was no 'hot honey/spicy flavour whatsoever, the Halloumi was anaemic and the portion looked charred and the temperature of the burger was luke-warm at best.My son's girlfriend has just re read the menu and realised she didn't get the caramelised onion or chill jam - 1st photo is what she got (2nd stock photo) was what she was expecting? Overall, 3/5 stars. Atmosphere, food & drinks choices, quality of ingredients, etc. are all very good. Portion sizes, speed of service, prices, etc. all need to improve...
