Caffe Nero - Hove in Brighton and Hove

Not sure why they have the adverts on TV for a place like this.. there is mo care to the food its just somewhere that's wants your money for very little in return..

I recently complained to Nero's London by email concerning the situation with the disgraceful toilets. You will see that I've rated this 5 stars - why? because Nero are working on the complaint as I type - you can't get better than that! So let's hope the place will soon open up again (in a couple of days). I wouldn't go the George Street branch as they won't allow dogs in but will put up the screaming children. Whilst typing the staff in Church Road are continually changing which given their normal good service is such a shame.

The place is in need of a deep clean and sanitisation - the toilets in particular were revolting. There is no excuse for black skirting boards and grime everywhere in the loos and who would want to change a baby there? This is long term dirt and grime and not hygienic, especially if it's used by the staff too. I can't believe this was checked in the latest Food Hygiene Rating - filthy toilets must be included, right? Will not be going back until there's evidence of a proper improvement in the cleanliness of the place. It would be good to see charts showing when it's been cleaned and what is included, because it must be just superficial in the minimum amount of time. Employ a cleaning company if the staff don't have time.

All I wanted was a Coffee. Instead I received an education on how NOT to do things. The Staff do not give a dam. The tables are filthy. The Staff leave dirty Plates and Cups on the tables for hours and in doing so do not make it an attractive place to visit. Several tables were dirty when we arrived and later in the day the same rubbish was piled up on the same tables. The chairs and furniture were so dirty they were actually "sticky", I cannot image what hygiene level they apply to the stuff they sell. Crates and empty boxes are stored by the counter, the Toilet is from another planet. People are allowed to walk in buy nothing and use the free wifi, I was astounded by the whole package. Goodness help us _ do they represent Cafe Nero, or as a franchise can they do what they want. I have written to CN Customer Service, did they reply [?] you have two guesses. I am so used to going to France and Italy where the tables are cleared and cleaned as soon as you go to leave. This is done so that everything is ready for the next customer. Unfortunately the standards in the UK do not match those of other countries.

Such miserable staff. And it was only 9:30am. In my mind there is no excuse, you are the face of the company and the first person a customer sees. No smile. No greeting. No nothing. Just what can I get you. Very disappointed.

Left a wet tray right beside my table causing me to slip on it and sprain my knee. They even didn’t even flinch when I told them.

A trainee gave me a Peru blend cappuccino which was incredibly weak and too milky. I actually felt sick after it. I avoided ordering coffee on subsequent visits when he was behind counter. One day I really felt like coffee when he asked what I would like and I politely mentioned that the last one had made wasn’t right and I had felt sick. He took it as a personal insult and rushed off. His collogue lectured me that I shouldn’t had said anything. I explained I only mentioned it as he had approached me and I was feed up not being able to have coffee when he was on duty. So if the coffee makes you feel sick it’s probably best to not say anything. Avoid.

Love cafe nero but disappointed every time that they do barely any veggie or vegan options! Not only that - you can only have a breakfast deal if you eat meat!! Not one Vegetarian option in the deal? WOW - living in the stone ages Nero!!

Have been going to this cafe for years off and on. This was the worst. The staff are in desperate need of training, the coffee was abismal, and I certainly will find another venue the next time I visit Guilford.

Love this coffee stop. The coffee is always great and so are the chocolate brownies. The staff are the main reason I stop here, they are always so welcoming and up beat.

I was treated like sh*t by a lady who works here. She was rude smug and she needs to work on her people skills. I visit cafe Nero everyday and today decided to go into this one which I will never do again. The food was crab the drink was crab and the hostility of the workers makes me not want to come back here ever again

First experience here was not a pleasant one. Barrista seemed less than interested and my beverage too did not taste great.

This is a large, modern, bright and airy Nero I came into to dodge a hail shower. I usually have coffee but today had breakfast tea which was very good.

Friendly nice coffee , not even 9am come in for a quiet coffee but no ! faced with load classical music way too much this early its giving me a headache .

Friendly staff . Cleaned space. Tasty coffee . Loads of different fresh cakes . Nice place to chill out with friends.

Good place for those with prams and small children. Loads of seats and roomy. Staff are hit and miss in friendliness.

Always good service and lovely coffee. The photos on the walls remind us of holidays in Italy. The cakes are good too!

This is a good Caffe Nero branch, with outside seating for good weather and smokers and well-spaced tables and banquettes inside. The hot drinks are usually well and carefully prepared and the food good

Pedimos un gran café y por el tiempo que tuve la oportunidad de conseguir la app para que ella tenía sellada electrónicamente cerrada la factura. Pedí que me quería que desliza la app y ella dijo que era demasiado tarde. Su forma no se disculpó de amable. Me huelan bien si evita esta rama de Neros. Es una pena. Pero hay al menos 12 ofrecen tiendas de café a lo largo de esta calle corta.Palabra de la gerencia. Contratar a trabajadores extranjeros, cuando ellos en un campo de servicio al cliente y enseñarles sobre cómo tratar con los británicos y no como si ellos todavía están en su propio país.

Friendly and welcoming staff make this the best Cafe Nero I've ever visited! I don't normally review chains as they're much the same and people know what to expect, but these guys really go the extra mile to help!

Stopped for breakfast on a Sunday morning when little else was open in Hove; coffee and bacon sandwich were at their usual standard, and the staff were pleasant and efficient.

Often call in here and have never had a bad experience. It can get busy, but if you get there at the right time then enjoy the seats by the window. Also well worth trying the hot chocolate range as they are very good.

Stopped off for coffee before an appointment in town and was shocked to wait over 10mins to be served. Staff seemed more engaged with their own arguments and whinging than serving. A new trainee took my order and made a mistake (I ordered a skinny flat white and she served full fat) not a problem as she corrected but this took another 5minutes of me standing at counter. I had a voucher which she didn't know how to use and it was obvious she didn't want to ask the others for guidance after trying several times and failing to put it through she reluctantly asked for help and I understand why after the reaction she got from her colleagues. My coffee was burnt and done don't even fill half a cup when it finally arrived and my partners hot chocolate was barely passable as hot milk. When the previous empties were finally cleared from our table I said to take mine as I would not be drinking. The gentleman kindly to replace with another unfortunately this was just as shocking. Wrong milk cold and again tasted of burnt coffee. Needless to say we both left without finishing our drinks. Thankfully baked out cafe over the road can produce a beautiful cup for a similar price and with much better service.

Feeling cry ready to relax, this Caffe Nero was very welcome! Good service. Relaxed atmosphere. No rush to vacate as there was lots of seating.

Realmente lucha con esto. Me refiero a una gran empresa que aes necesario tomar responsabilidad no impuesto dodge lo siento por la gente que trabaja allí trabajan duro para nada. Es una pena que tenemos que soportar estos sitios quitaran el público fuera

Otra tienda de café que 'cumple lo que promete'. El personal es agradable, buen ambiente, etc. No hay mucho más que decir.

Nos tres visitamos el domingo por la tarde. Pedimos dos Macciata que servían en vasos grandes, así que se entregan media taza de café. Yo pedí un café descafeinado blanco desinflado que sabía muy sólida para descafeinado pero como no he estado nunca en Nero antes de que yo había supuesto erróneamente que era más fuerte café que utilizan. Me pasé el resto del día sensación muy enferma. Los baños estaban cerrada así que utilicé barreras. No había jabón disponibles, suponiendo que el personal utilice este estaba muy contento, no estaba en la cafetería. Mis compañeros me pareció el Machiata sabor extraño. Dudo mucho que volveremos.

run of the mill chain coffee shops. Nothing special about any of them. This one is no different. Plenty independent coffee shops locally and ALL so much better.

Excellent service, great staff. With a vast range of coffee. Would recommend the Mocca with cream..... :)

First time in this particular Nero and definitely the last! Ordered two cappuccinos and a Tuna Melt. Male member of staff would have been fired immediately if he worked for my business. It was almost as though customers were just too much trouble for the guy. First thing he did was threw a couple of dirty spoons onto the saucers and I mean very obviously dirty, they had wet coffee stains on them. I asked for replacements and he put the two dirty spoons back in the container he had taken the "cleaner" spoons out of! I had to clean the replacements myself.Coffee "appeared" ok but tasted like something wasn't cleaned properly. My guess going by the state of the toilets and the general shabby look of the place is they don't thoroughly clean anything at all! Certainly not the grills they heat the food on. The Tuna Melt tasted decidedly odd and looking underneath you could see where food from previous grilled panini's had been left there. The chilled water had bits in it and only one of the jugs actually had any water in it and not much at that. All in all not a pleasant experience and one we shall definitely not repeat. I see there are plenty of glowing reviews for this place but I can only assume either we visited on a bad day or other people have some very low standards.

A lively coffee shop on the busy Church St but well worth a visit if you're out shopping and have earned a treat.

My husband and I had a panini each and a coffee and sat outside this morning. It was very nice, good service and exactly what we wanted. Very nice.

We were very happy that we found an open caffe in Hove in Sunday afternoon. Its a nice place but we came half an hour before closing so staff wanted to go home, so our lattes were not as good as usual. Will be back :)

We ordered two cappuccino's and one portion of what turned out to be a rather stale portion of cake, however the coffee was fine. The staff were not particularly friendly and certainly did not appear to wish to hold any time of conversation. What was most disappointing was how untidy the place was, the floor around our table was covered with empty sugar sachets, a number of tables had not be cleared of cups etc, copies of the local free paper were also all over the place. We stayed for about 10 minutes and left, not the visit we had hoped for.

They are all over the place, have great coffes, and snacks and priced better then a "Starbucks"!!! Friendly Staff, if the weather is good... grab a table outside... another great place to people watch!!!

I love my coffee. I spend most of my day in coffee shops. I meet people and work out of them. But, it's a shames that they don'r see the value in having clean spacious toilets. In this place there seems to be only on cubical which is dark, dingy and a little uncared for. the coffee was OK though.

We were aiming to go to an independent cafe but they were all clearing their tables and chairs and made it obvious they were finishing for the day. So at 16.35 we went to Cafe Nero, had a great coffee and cake (gluten-free) and used the free Wi-Fi to check the times of the next train home. A good experience.

I have been to this coffee shop on plenty of occasions and never been disappointed. The staff are always really friendly and knowledgeable can answer any questions you have about the food or drinks. The coffee is always tasty and hot and the food delicious (as well as the cakes - yum!)

Being a chain coffee shop you always know what to expect - okay drinks ad food, nothing more or less. The location in central Hove is its strongest selling point but, to be honest, there are several indie tea rooms within easy walking distance that are better for product and service.

I love a cup of good coffee, Caffe nero have the best cafe mocha in town, their cakes are amazing too. its got a good prime location, however I think the furniture needs to be changed, as some of the chairs are ripped, in poor condition. As for a coffee chain i think they need to make this minor improvements as there are many competitors in the area.

This is one of the best Cafe Neros. The staff are usually on the ball and the place is well cared for and the products are good - hot coffee, lovely hot chocolate and tasty cakes and sandwiches. Nice to sit inside in cold or wet weather; also great in summer you can sit outside
