Caffe Nero - Broad Street Reading in Reading

It was unbearably hot and no working Aircon when we tried to visit over the summer Most recently I needed the loo before placing a drinks order . The male staff member with red / brown hair , when I explained this and asked for the code, refused to let me have it, insisting I had to queue and order first despite being quite desperate for the loo !!

what I got was hot coffee with on top a chemical foam made from powdered mixture at room temperature served with a straw. no way i could suck that dense mixture. with the price I payed I was expecting genuine cappuccino with genuine ingredients.

This is a well sited branch on the corner of Broad St and St Mary's Butts. The service was a bit slow (understaffed). The coffee and cheesecake average. Not a bad experience by any means.

Absolutely no cleaning of tables when we were there, just cleared !!! Not busy either, so NO EXCUSES !! However, my hot chocolate was nice.

My latte was alright and the hot chocolate was adequate but it was let down by the atmosphere and the fact the windows were dirty. I would rather go to Costa than go back there. Not for me. My partner did say he liked his danish.

Popped in for a coffee as we was passing. Staff polite enough and asked us to scan the track and trace. Sat in the seating area and was just looking around like you do. The place just looks old and grubby. Needs a good overhaul On a separate note the coffee was hot and ok

Covid signs and hand cleaning gel and items to clean the table yourself, excellent. Staff are polite and instructed "most" sit in people to scan the NHS check in barcode. However, whilst we were sitting having our coffee, there were at least 4 people who came in with no masks on and they were served, some were takeaway, some were sit in. The government rules are clear. You wear a mask whilst entering and you can remove it once seated to eat and drink. The staff NEED to enforce this or Reading will have the same Covid issues as Slough and Maidenhead. The Government have given the public and businesses the rules and guidelines. . It's up to us to follow them.

We have recently moved to Reading and worried about finding a great coffee shop with friendly staff but we didn't need to worry! From our first visit we were impressed and the staff are fantastic, always friendly no matter how busy they get. Paulina and Alicja (and the other girls) are lovely and we always find the cafe clean and well organised. In this difficult time with covid all the girls ensure everything is cleared quickly and kept sanitised. Thank you to them all.

Normally ok in here, however today, a Saturday at 11.30am, it was loud and overtaken by about 5 foreign language customers. They were so loud and I think they thought they had booked the whole place for themselves. One of the cafe Nero staff was obviously friends with them and did nothing to quieten them down. People come in here for a quiet chat and drink, it's not a place for this loudness and the manager or supervisor should have done something about it. I'll go somewhere else next time...I've finished my drink and leaving and they have taken over the whole place !!!

I stopped in for coffee and chat with friend, grabbed a chicken and bacon toastie for lunch...picture attached. Absolutely laughable! Shan’t be going back

A cold October day, we entered the cafe for a warming drink and a light snack. The decor was a nice Italian style, coffee and snacks available, all looked delicious. The staff were attentive and helpful, and not expensive We will viisit again.

Nice quiet café to sit and relax with a good coffee, served by a team of experienced and friendly staff. They are also helpful and will carry your tray if needed. My tip would be don't sit near the door because it can be very draughty with people in and out a lot.

This is my favourite cafe in England! The coffee is always amazing wherever you decide to visit. I live nearby this one and I love to go there early in the mornings, have my cup of coffee and do some work or just chill. The personal is amazing! Because I am a frequent customer they all have remembered what I like and I don't even have to bother ordering. The app is amazing, too! And now, during Christmas you win a free coffee with almost every order you make. Definitely a nice way to get you in that good Christmas mood!

Anche se è una catena con il nome italiano non ha nulla di italiano, il caffè espresso (single o double) da loro chiamato è acqua colorata. Le paste sembrano artificiali. L'unica cosa decente è il latte che viene consumato dagli inglesi in quantità industriale come la birra ed in qualsiasi parte della giornata. Prezzi comunque carissimi per un espresso (chiamiamolo a loro dire) 1,98 GPB (più di due euro). Comunque per fare una colazione decente a Reading ci vuole una magia. Mi dispiace tanto che come al solito viene inflazionata una catena di somministrazione come italiana ma che di italiano non ha nulla. Nota positiva è la tranquillità e la rllassatezza della location, con una minima consumazione puoi rimanere quanto vuoi e non solo puoi studiare, collegarti ad internet con il pc, allattare i bambini, conversare, leggere ecc. ecc..

The most relaxing Nero Branch with the most friendliest staff. The place is cosy and cold in the summer.

Si cambias de tren en Reading y tienes tiempo, te recomiendo esta playa de Caff Nero, que está a solo unos minutos a pie de la estación. Gran café, tarta y panini. Y con una taza reutilizable, obtienes 2 sellos (de 9 requeridos) para tu próxima bebida gratis.

Usualmente voy aquí cuando estoy en la ciudad. Se llena bastante, pero la cola normalmente no tiene más de 2 o 3 personas, a veces es más silenciosa. El servicio es bueno, una persona prepara el café y otra para tomar la orden de la siguiente persona en la cola. Son amigables y eficientes, y para una cadena de café los precios no son demasiado caros, especialmente dada la buena calidad del café.Aunque está bastante ocupado, siempre puedo encontrar un lugar para sentarme. También es tranquilo, puede pasar su tiempo en una atmósfera relajada y nunca se siente con prisa por desocupar su asiento. Mucha gente parece usar esto para instalar sus laptops, leer un periódico o un libro, o simplemente sentarse y relajarse.

Visited on a weekday afternoon, the place was quite busy but it's spacious and good for a mum like me with a pushchair.

Had a really nice Latte from there yesterday. Ok, it was free with the O2 app, but the staff are always really friendly and the drinks are always very nice.

We called in several times in the last week of September.

On the visit to this Nero, which is not my normal one, I found it very disorganised. There was only a trainee at the counter, and I felt very sorry for her, as she was left all on her own, with out any support. she had no way of getting equipment from the store, and so had no trays etc.

If you happen to be shopping in The Broad Street Mall why not drop into Neros for a quiet coffee and a chat. The staff are all friendly, courteous and helpful and the coffee is great.You can sit in peaceful surroundings and listen to some classical music rather than the loud stuff you hear in most coffee bars. Also, they keep the place lovely and clean.

I'm a o2 customer and I have a free coffee a week and I go to Nero, nice coffee, nice staff a shame they're don't have almond milk or coconut milk. Nice and clean with a large number of tables.

The atmosphere in here was warm and cosy on a not so nice day and the staff were friendly and efficient. the coffee was really good.

Usually I got to Starbucks for coffee. But just wanted to try Nero Coffee we went here. It was not that great. My preference is Starbucks

As is expected with Caffè Nero, the coffee is excellent. Very spacious and the temperature in the seating area is comfortable.

We casually went there for coffee. We had latte. But somehow I didn't like the coffee.We usually go to Starbucks for coffee. Which serves the best coffee.

Mi trovo da pochi giorni in questa stupenda città,dopo un gran camminare ci siamo fermati in questo locale abbastanza grande, una posizione strategica , arredamento datato con tanti divani in pelle che sanno di vissuto ma che danno tanto relax mentre ci siamo dilettati a bere due caffè con panna , ottimi.

I hate to say that this is a typical Caffe Nero; but it is and there is nothing wrong with that!. Called in for morning coffee,they weren't very busy at the time. Service was quick and friendly and the coffee was up to the usual standard, which is good. Friendly welcoming atmosphere.

I have visited the Nero in Broad Street many times, most recently yesterday, which was a typical experience. The impression I have is the effort from experienced team members to trainees is high, and they seem to be trying very hard to deliver a good standard of service. They move fast and multitask, and most of the time it is with a smile on their face. However, they run out of cups / plates in lunch hours, tables are dirty and all whilst there is a long queue of waiting customers. It is difficult to grab a relaxing lunch break due to the mess and frenetic atmosphere. The coffee and food is to Nero standard and comparable with other Nero outlets (generally average!) Again, the team there do seem to battle on and are apologetic and really seem to work hard. I do hope they get some extra pairs of hands soon.

The best branded coffee shop in Reading.Lots of places to sit, great service and the best coffee.If you are an early riser it opens at 6am.5-10 minutes from the station.They have won a number of awards and they are well deserved.ForgetStarSucks and Costalot

Stopped with wife and daughter for two coffees and a tea whilst walking through the centre of Reading. Service was prompt and drinks very nice.

The best coffee shop in town by far ( the only other contender for the title would be Nero in Friar street). The coffee is lovely rich and strong, snacks and cakes are good but the best thing is the service. There are a number of good staff members but the black guy with dreads is great as is the foreign girl with auburn hair, sorry can't remember the others but they are all pleasant and chatty. Great service in a busy environment many other coffee shops would do well to watch and learn how to serve.

The quality of coffee is alright and sandwiches are standard.For us the speed of service was important (as it was busy and we were worried to be late)! They've passed the test with a speedy service (plus friendly staff which is important for the morning)!

Staff are always willing to help an out of towner. I go back because of the service. Always made to feel welcome. The Wifi is also very handy for travellers.

It's a nice, warm cafe in Reading center where I always meet up my friends. Cakes and coffee were great but some seats are needed to be replaced, a bit too old.

I always enjoy Caffe Nero's coffee but I called in for a drink this morning and having purchased my drink looked around for a seat. The cafe was a real shambles with dirty cups and crockery stacked up on tables and chairs by disgruntled customers looking for a seat. I eventually found one by the window having spotted a lady getting up to go.Such a shame.

As an Italian i can say that this isn't really authentic Italian coffee. It's too strong when Italian coffee is more smooth. The pastries are lovely. The sandwiches are English, not Italian. It's really a themed Italian style coffee shop and that's about it.

Of the chains Cafe Nero is usually the best place for coffee - and this branch was no exception. But if you also want a fruit salad for breakfast then this is not the place. They are too small / too expensive for what they are.

I stopped in here as I hadn't booked breakfast at my hotel. It was good food with excellent staff and service.

Tea more or less OK (no better than that) but cramped seating and slow, surly, insolent staff. If you're heading from the Oracle back to the station in the rain and feel like a cup of tea, keep on to the station, where they're more cheerful.

There are actually 2 Caffe Nero on Broad Street, one smaller than the other, but both offer a nice coffee, and you can use wifi for free with Cloud. The only less positive thing I can think about : they should clean the tables not in use anymore more often, as I always seem to enter when all tables are covered with empty saucers and cups.

While the coffe at cafe Nero is always up to standard, the location isn't as nice as others I have been in. The place can sometimes get cold if the door is left open, and the floor often dirty of muddy people walking in of broad street. However it's the coffee that couldn't and you can't fault cafe Nero.Tip: cafe Nero in House of Frazer is a lot nicer and more relaxed setting.

Whilst the coffee may be great, and I appreciate that on a Saturday afternoon that this place is extremely busy, there is no excuse for the amount of dirt and grime around the taps in the public toilet sink. It has been there for a VERY long time. I would expect far more from a "chain" coffee shop.

This branch of Caffe Nero is conveniently located on Broad Street, overlooking the Broad Street Mall. The seats are very comfortable, and it's the ideal place to have a coffee in town and watch the world go by. As usual for Caffe Nero, the coffee is good, the pastries not so much.
