Caffe Nero in Hastings

Took my elderly mum in here for a lunch. Paper signs up everywhere saying they would be using takeaway cups due to a leaking dishwasher - the same signs have been up for almost a week ! Anyway I wasn’t ordering coffee so didn’t think anything of it. I ordered two toasted sandwiches and a bottle of juice. The sandwiches were plonked down on the table in paper bags with no napkins or cutlery. I questioned the Barista who simply said “you’ve read the signs “!! Wow - the customer service in this place is terrible - email sent to Head Office! Incidentally this was NOT the trainee barista but the fully trained one!!! Not good enough! So much so that I will definitely not be returning to this which is my local Nero! For this dreadful service I paid £14.30!!!! Ps the sandwiches were actually quite revolting and not like some I have recently had in Bury St Edmond’s Nero.

Always busy but you get served quickly. Staff are friendly and drinks are well made.

If the Baistas concentrated more on making coffees than messing around with their colleagues it would be a half decent branch. As it stand they got my order wrong three times today

First pistachio frappe - excellent with pink bag of popcorn

Amzing place to go and revise while having an iced pistachio latte. I live how there's different types of seating. Arm chairs, sofa, plastic chairs. It's so nice and cosy and the drinks are great

Good coffee on the rare occasion that they actually make any effort but usually just talking to eachother all the time.

Mess outside . Every table unclean. One person serving and making drinks alone. Plenty I can see that needs sorting but not with just one person. Dirty glass. Drink sour. Sticky toffee pudding cheesecake Base no flavour. Cake dry. Cream and toffee nice. Coffee is good. This could be so much better with more staff cleaning and serving

The customer service in this store is absolutely shocking. The staff stands around chatting about their personal lives. May I add inappropriate details at times, whilst people stand in the queue, very patiently anticipating to be served their coffee. Half the time there’s three of them behind the counter and only one person is taking the orders whilst also making the drinks which makes the wait time. Absolutely ridiculous. today, whilst the girl was making my coffee with only one hand, she had her phone in the other whilst reading out personal messages, to be honest it’s very disappointing as the coffee is actually quite nice really let the store down. You’re never greeted as you walk into the store Nora, you ever thanked for waiting, and I’ve said previously whilst one member of staff is often serving the others are almost nearly chatting or just pottering about doing nothing and it’s very frustrating when you’re standing there in a rush. So disappointed, I’d rather just go over to Costa which is literally opposite step it up guys.

Great hot chocolate and wonderful pistachio chocolate Mousse cake. My friend ordered a flat white and the waitress did a wonderful job with presentation. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Well worth popping in just for their amazing pistachio and chocolate Mousse cake. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ service and products.

Absolutely lovely,the staff are so nice and friendly.this is my favourite spot to revise and the drinks are worth it both hot and cold.the food is abit overpriced but what isn't nowadays

Don't bother they put the air conditioner on so it's freezing cold, inhospitable in here go elsewhere or bring a duvet

The staff do try but clearly they are understaffed. Place looks messy and definitely not the usual Nero experience or standard.

Appalling customer service. Very young waitress, didn't catch her name, was very stroppy and rude to both me and the lady in front of me. It was a quiet Sunday, so she wasn't that busy. She rolled her eyes at my child's order, completely messed up the drinks and said I'd have to come back during the week if I wanted a refund, even though she'd overcharged me! Pity really as the food was nice, but we won't be going back there. She said that there was no manager to complain to - what a joke!

We love the coffee at cafe Nero but today was a bad experience. Staff who were totally inefficient chatting together and obviously unfamiliar with the system.short-staffed as evidenced by someone helping out who had come in off the street with family.

Don’t bother ordering frappachinos they just send the liquid. Happened multiple times. This cost me 6.50 when I asked for cream and syrup frappachino. She said she “made it herself and definitely did it properly” when on the phone but when I continued to complain she then admitted they ran out of ice? Don’t take the order then and don’t lie? Honestly I wouldn’t mind mistakes happen but just own up to it and don’t pretend the customer is lying.

Lovely staff, they were so kind to my autistic son, who wanted to try 'proper' coffee for the first time and he loved his latte. Thank you ladies, your kindness and patience made his day.

I give a low rating as the place is filthy even behind the counter tables were dirty as was floor however the coffee was good and the staff who were probably understaffed were pleasent and efficient

Nero is never my first choice of coffee shop and after today's visit, it will remain that way. Every table was piled high in dirty cups and crockery, took me over 15 minutes to order a simple iced coffee and staff were miserable and couldn't care less. Won't bother again.

Not the best Cafe Nero I have visited. Needs refurbishing and found the coffee not as nice as I have experienced in others within the chain. Bit disappointed to be honest

I have run out of time waiting to be served on my brake. Male member of staff complaining loudly about making one coffee to take away (not for me - for delivery) quite rude and unpleasant. Took him forever to do it and then he vanished leaving girl on her own serving long queue. I can't even rate the coffee as it took so long, that I had to go back to work.

The woman that was on june sunday 25 at 10 am is a rockstar. She was the cashier, hot coffee, cold dinks, cook, waiter and never losing her kind attitude. Frankly if I was in her spot I would have not lasted long. The employees of this store deserve a lot more and I hope Nero is meeting their requests and being a good employer. My drink was very very tasty and although the place required more attention, the staff were absolute rockstars.

Normally go to Costa for a salted caramel fappe, decided to try Caffe Nero, what a disappointment, definitely not worth the money not really a frappe not sure what it was. It was also in really small cup almost thrown at me. Not very friendly atmosphere. Won't be going again.

Dreadful service. The staff (3 of them!) were huddled round the 'Frappe' machine trying to work our how to use it!! One of the 3 women didn't appear to be actually on duty as she was constantly on her phone & making herself a drink!! The queue was so long that it almost reached to the door. My husband was 4th in the queue & it took 15 minutes before our 2 cortados were made!! We only waited that length of time as we had a Gift Card to use. The girl who served my husband didn't understand how to use the Gift Card. The service in this particular Cafe Nero is never good, but today beat the usual indifference. Please train your staff before releasing them to the public!!

I would avoid this place unless you like arrogant staff that would rather chat than serve customers, absolutely disgusting behaviour from your staff on Sunday bank holiday weekend

Waiting 10 - 15 minutes just to get a cup of coffee, it's a joke only 1 or 2 staff serving in this busy town centre coffee shop.

Lovely coffee bit of a wait came in on Sunday but could see they was understaffed guy behind the bar that was working today deserves a lot more credit where credit is due was positive with customers and hard working girl that was working with him needs to have a better attitude and help didn’t seem like she wanted to work at all was just stood there moaning about being there and needs to be more aware of her surroundings and what other customers can hear. Overall a lovely coffee shop !

Slightly slow staff I went with my mum who's in her 60s and was disappointed they were slow with her food. Fairly clean and good location though.

I can only imagine the offering is awful as I judged it from the outside…

Staff are incredibly slow, an got my drink for it to be burnt milk an scalded my mouth. Not happy.

The coffee is fine, but the shop and the entire building are in a terrible state. A major brand like Neros should lead regeneration of communities, not their degeneration, as in this case!

The cappuccino cake is an absolute delight there, and their lattes are lovely. Just gets very busy quickly in this one with limited seating so make sure to come a bit early!

I like there Caffè latte, mugs and glasses clean, I just enjoy the whole experience. Good atmosphere.

Nice location, good seating both inside and out. Was a bit of a wait for drinks, but worth waiting for! Outside seating gets the sunshine nicely

The passageway and stairs up to the toilets is dark, steep and really grim. The whole place needs a bit of a refresh.

Coupled with the 'Three' offer, coffee never tasted better!

We arrive at 4 o’clock in the Cafe. The toilets were closed 2 hours before closing time. My pregnant friend ask them to use the toilet and they said that the toilets are not available because they cleaned already. When my friend ask what I should do, the waitress rudely replied “Go to Costa”, when we spent the money at Café Nero not at Costa. We do actually are regular customers at Nero, but not anymore from today!

The worst serving with incompetent staff . For two frappe we were waiting 30 minutes . Just here can give us frappe without Caffe when asked to make another they told us the caffe is already in. Sorry I didn't make a picture to the white staf . The boys were brilliant now is a shame what Caffe Nero become 😡😞

I will first off say I'd give this a negative 5* review if I could. Myself & my girlfriend have just left the shop after recieveing abismal service from the two ladies behind the counter. Myself, my girlfriend & approximatley 8-10 other customers were made wait without sevice for 15 minutes without warning, without a heads up whislt one member of staff was washing up & another was talking. These ladies were more focused on the cleanliness behind the counter than engaging with customers, printing off "apologies for inconvience" posters entailing the early close (2pm) of the store after talking amongst themselves into shutting early. Once we were finally served we revieved a shockingly fake & plastic apology that wasn't heartfelt at all. We will not be putting our money into this store again due to the pure laziness & disrespect of the staff & would much rather recieve the quality service that Costa opposite the store will happily give. Worst Cafe Nero we have visited & it will be our last.

Never seems to be open always states unforseen circumstances. When it is open certain staff can be quite rude.

All seat's and tables that were put out were taken, and the rest were piled up in a messy heap with no intention of supplying them for eat in customers. Staff were very moody and my coffee sat there for a good 10mins before I asked where it was, I was pointed to the cold coffee on the counter. Whilst my friend sat and drank there's separate to mine as mine had to be redone with attitude from staff mentioning its her colleagues fault as she's in training, explanation was said with an eye roll too. Dirty messy tables and even found cups and trays on the floors. Not a good coffee shop environment at all. Think I'll go to the Costa opposite from now on.

Cosy, eclectic, great coffee (and they have sugar free syrups). Really enjoy this place. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Four flights of stairs to the loos so plan accordingly!

By Cafe Nero standards this place was dirty when we visited. Even more so when an old fella staggered in cleared his throat and spat out the contents of his throat in a used cup on an empty table. Coffee was OK, but we find the nearbyCosta better.

Consistently slow lines, but other than that exactly what you expect from a Caffe Nero.

Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Always really polite and friendly.

I live in Hastings and like Nero. But this is by far the worse Nero I ever go in. Staff just stand and chat, with one serving (out of 3) all the while there is a massive queue - it’s always the same and consistently this way. Staff are unfriendly and frequently rude. Tables rarely cleared. Avoid it and go to Hanushkas or The Cake Rooms instead - brilliant venues.

Queue très longue, nous avons fait la queue pendant 20 minutes avant notre prise en charge. Légèrement déçue par rapport à d’autres Caffè Nero car le goût du café n’était pas top.

I ordered a cheese n ham croissant toasted. In all the cafes previously this means it gets squashed n toasted in a griiddle. I thought just before I received my "toastie" I heard a BING! Only after leaving with my takeout did the truth dawn on me. Indeed the "toastie" had been microwaved. This brings a new meaning to the simplest concept in cooking, toasting or not-toasting?

Visited on a sunny Sunday afternoon, fairly busy which is always a good sign. Excellent selection of drinks, hot and cold, including a lot of iced coffees. The cakes looked appealing. Good staff and plenty of seating inside and outside.

We were looking for somewhere to have a cuppa outside as the weather was so beautiful and noticed seating at Caffè Nero. We ordered the Grand size drinks which were a decent size. They were made fairly prompt and tasted good. Only let down was the cake selection, nothing jumped out and made us want have a nibble!

Usually get exceptional coffee/ hot chocolate here but today as my coffee was hot i took my first sip once nearly back to the car. Unfortunately it went straight in the bin . I asked for a single shot decaff latte which was extreamly bitter and VERY strong.not sure the lads head was in it as he served it at first to drink in not takeaway and i also had to remind him for the babychino. Very disapointed i hadnt tried it sooner because id have taken it back.

Usually ok but Lyn does not like my face apparently the next day Bexhill swimming pool reception new about it maybe its the NHS and Sussex police

They do vegan hot chocolate with vegan whipped cream! I will be coming back... Regularly! Really impressed. They also allow dogs and have super comfy seating. The only negative thing I have to say is that the condensation on the windows was a little bad and maybe they should invest in a dehumidifier.

The cafe was poorly stocked with food but a lot of this was due to lack of staff , covid and delivery so not their fault. But the staff were friendly and helpful and the shop was a nice location to people watch . I would go back

Trying to not use plastic and was told that coffee is only served in takeaway cups. Sigh. Okay. Then I sit down and see that lots of people have china cups....what??? Very frustrating.

Nice cafe and the staff were welcoming. Saw someone who was homeless be served water by staff, who treated the gentleman with the same respect as anyone else. Was great to see and certainly worth recognising as excellent customer service

This Nero has taken over as my favourite. Both their classic hot chcoloate and flat white are exceptional. I do often find the tables are dirty, either with crockery or not wiped but the staff are great and very friendly.

chipped glass. state of disrepair. sewage leaking in toilet. plaster hanging off. rubbish everywhere. avoid! I can almost guarantee Nero won't respond to this. can't defend the truth I guess?

It's a chain but that was made up for today by the fact that it stays open til 6.00pm and has very nice staff.
