One of the better Caffé Nero's in York. Decent coffee, friendly team. Often is too busy.

Our last visit to this dump. Its dirty, understaffed (long queues), dirty pots everywhere not cleared (you have to move them away) and today the toilet was dirty and had no toilet paper. The sheet said the lady toilet check was Tuesday 14 May today is 16th on my visit . Often get paper cups and cake put in cardboard box. Today was the final straw!!

Not dog friendly. Business lost.

After lunch drinks stop while out and about. Ordered on the app, but still not ready by the estimated time. But not a problem, as at least we knew they were freshly made. Very good coffee, and a nice location accessible via an external door, and internal one through Next!

Only Cafe Nero I've been in that's not Dog friendly. Travel all over UK and never been refused until now. Staff say that's because it's in a Next store and it's a Next rule. They watched me walk in, take my coat off and when I got to till told me " No Dogs". Maybe a sign in window would help? Will try others in York to see if this is a "York thing".

Went in at 4.10pm to change my babies nappy and get a to go drink. They close at 4.30 but had already shut the toilets and wouldn’t unlock for a quick nappy change. Never known anywhere close their toilets so early and refuse for a child.

We have been visiting this particular branch for many years with our lovely cockapoo Betsy. But today, we were refused entry by a very official young lady, saying dogs are not allowed. I said to her but we've always been coming here with Betsy, but she just reiterated that dogs are not allowed and asked us to leave. We were so disappointed as we had been travelling for several hours and were so looking forward to a lovely coffee. We have never witnessed any incidents with dogs in any of the Nero branches, just very rude customers at times. People and staff have always made a fuss of Betsy so just can't understand what s changed. Won't be visiting there again or the Next branch.

We went to caffeine Nero but it was over the Christmas period my gran had to sit down and I got the coffees but I waited 20 mins for them and there was only a few seats left the food is overly priced and I wanted one of the festival hot chocolates but they only came in one size which put me off my gran also said that the coffee was only hot not boiling

Always enjoy a light bite and a Cappuccino for me and the missus. Though, it was my turn to pay. Boo Hoo! Coffee always good, followed by something chocolatey. Just the treat to enjoy!

Good place to get quality coffee and tasty sandwiches when at Monks Cross.

This branch always seems painfully slow. Queued for over 15 minutes yesterday and hardly moved, could see it bein another 10 or 15 minutes before getting served. Wouldn't have had time to enjoy the drink so we all just left. Won't be back!

Very short staffed but the two colleagues worked so very hard under such difficulties, really busy. They are a credit to the company.

Efficient and courteous service with good coffee

The panini and salad were good. The issues are that the cafe feels unkept. Staff have hair dangling everywhere and don’t appear to know what they are serving. Coffee served in unclean cups. The toilet today was pretty disgusting! Needs some love and attention.

Coffee is good. Staff pretty good. Fridge closed (supplies?) Wet surfaces, chairs on tables over an hour before closing. No milk except skimmed (supply issue).

Called in Friday 1st September on a truly dismal damp day. Great for snacky bits etc,can't go wrong with a chicken and bacon toastie. Good range of drinks, hot or cold. Very popular place.Definitely recommend a visit

Saturday morning 10.15am, the place is rammed and only one member of staff, she's coping fantastically still smiling and cheerful (what an asset)but people are walking out because of how busy it is. More staff required

Mixed.On a click and collect I was told there was no coffee to collect and that I didn't understand the app? A team lead then called me back saying that they had the order after all. I complained that I had been patronised by a junior member of the staff but the team lead gave me the drinks and ignored my complaint. Poor customer service but usually no problems , I used to visit here every lunchtime but have started now using next door M&S, always top drawer.Staffing is poor. New staff again, dishwasher broken - everything served in takeaway cups

We visited on a very busy day, long queues and nowhere to sit. The staff were working as fast as they could and if i had to deal with some of the customers that they had, I tell you, I would not be so polite. They would be on the pavement outside. BE KIND.

Excellent staff friendly and good service would recommend it to everyone.

Amazing customer service from Barista Charlotte today when I was trying to get my app to work and connect it to a voucher I knew I had in my virtual wallet. Thanks so much 😁

I was greeted and tended to with attention by staff members Wendy and Alfie. I enjoy an Americano. My drink was made promptly. This was not my first visit to this particular Cafe Nero store. Under new management, with staff very interested in making customer service improved and of a good standard.

We love this particular Nero. It's our Friday teatime routine to start the weekend off with a lovely americano with hot skimmed milk. Today we were greeted by Charlotte who was very happy in her work and friendly. She helped us figure out where to find a promo cake offer on the app. Charlotte also loves to sing! We enjoyed listening to her wide repatoire. It's so lovely to see someone so happy in their work.

Fast and efficient today and good coffee.

Nice coffee & Chai Tea but seating is limited as quite a small place

Please please sort this cafe out. I come here after work often as it’s one of the only places still open and I don’t know if this is why my coffees are always bad (being closing time soon) but I do notice there are often trainees working here. Which is fine but coffees are very expensive and should be made properly… I have a signature drink that I always get at cafe neros but here it always tastes meh. I’ve lately been getting iced coffees and they always seem to be made lazily. The one I’m drinking down had 5 small ice cubes in it which melted very quickly leaving a slightly cooler than room temperature drink. :( I love cafe nero but this one doesn’t meet the standard of others

My first visit for awhile as l stopped going because the place was filthy the service was terrible and atmosphere not relaxing I have to say everything has improved 100% slight niggle the tables aren't cleared quickly enough and while l appreciate they are still short staffed its no good serving people when there isn't any clean tables to sit at

Waited 15 mins while the 2 baristas were having such fun behind the counter. Customers were second fiddle to their convo. Finally got our drinks n they were lukewarm. Sorry won't be heading there again.

Very busy but service was quick. It felt quite cramped seated inside at the back. We had coffee and a muffin each, very tasty.

Staff very helpful with adding a special limited-time voucher to the app. Shame app has bugs and didn't then correctly use it, so I'll probably lose it now. Had also sold out of most vegan deserts too 😞

Love popping into Caffè Nero for a White Chocolate Mocha and a chat. Lovely service, good coffee. Comfy sofas could be updated but won't stop me from getting my coffee there.

Lovely toasts and tasty coffee, clean and nice place.

Service was prompt and cheerful. Had enough food options to choose from. Although furniture ( especially armchairs) could be a bit cleaner , as it doesn’t look great from customer’s perspective once you’re sat down.

The furniture in this branch is very tired and worn looking. It's also a bit tightly laid out, so noisy when at capacity. However, the coffee is good and food/treats look lovely.

Love Cafe Nero coffee - always a shame that they are not particularly clean and the toilets leave a lot to be desired - all that said, they should employ cleaners to clean and barristers to serve coffee.....

I visited the franchise, which is located inside Next, at 3.15pm with my wife for a usual mid-afternoon tea break. The cafe was practically deserted & there was not the usual queue so we were quickly served. The layout & offers were typical of all Cafe Nero shops.

This used to be our favourite coffee shop but they have discontinued some of their best products like maple pecan pastry twists and Italian meatball paninni which was what customers appeared to like very much.... So why??!!!!

Nice coffee and cake, although as is usual for these places - a bit pricey. Everywhere was clean though. One comical moment - I ordered a brownie and the sales person said to her colleague, when getting it, "these don't look very appetising" - apparently her home made ones are better 😂. Not the best thing to say in front of customers. Fortunately it just made us laugh...

The sofas and the chairs looks as though they bought them from a second hand shop or Steptoes yard absolute filth, health and safety need calling.

I found the interior very tired and dirty, the tables and floors were not cleaned and cleared regular enough. Very disappointed.

I enjoy going to Nero but since my last visit to the one in vanguard. I am less than impressed. I ordered a tea cake which came in a paper bag, which made the bread really soft and moist, ended up leaving it, wasted my money.

Have been using this Cafe Nero regularly for a long time but it has deteriorated recently in service and cleanliness. The coffee is quite good but some of the staff are so rude and condescending, they make you feel like you are a inconvenience making them do some work. One girl in particular with blue hair actually barks orders at customers. There are plenty of other options close by M & S, Costa, Starbucks. I will definitely be buying my coffee elsewhere.

It really does need a good clean, moving tables and chairs for a start. The dirt and cobwebs in the corners are unbelievable. The tables are never wiped.

All products are good and plenty of comfortable seating. Tables are not cleared very quickly so you may have to do it yourself, as we have on several occasions. Conveniently located between M&S and Next.

Been going here for ages. Great coffee and cakes not to mention toasted tea cakes. For the first time it missed the boat today. I had to clean the table with sanitiser and serviettes? toasted tea cakes were chewy. Dissapointed !!! Come on Caffè Nero you can do better than that!!!....

Very disappointing - coffee bitter, Yorkshire water is hard, machine filters needs cleaning, or changing frequently. Toilets absolutely dreadful, & not that clean, smell made me feel ill. I won't be going there again.

It's a cafe nero. It's exactly what yoh would expect.

Like all such coffee shops they are expensive and there is a bit of a wait with a lack of staff. Sandwiches were tasteless and indistinguishable from each other. Two large latte and two sandwiches was nearly £15.

Had to wait a while to be served, staff member was quite abrupt, didn't even realise he was waiting for my order for a minute because he was just looking at me no yes please or what can I get you.. The coffee was nice though.

I often frequent Caffè Nero in either Coppergate or Kings Square in York centre and always have a good coffee, food and friendly service Sadly this Caffè Nero stuck inside a Next is one of the worst I’ve been to. Some of the staff are positively surly, none of them appear to want to work here. I’ve been ignored whilst they are carrying on a conversation between themselves. The cafe is often in need of a clean, even more important in these Covid times. I’ve given it several chances, as I am often in this area, but can honestly say I won’t use this Caffè Nero again. Head into town for a great Caffè Nero experience at any of the York centre cafes.

This Cafe Nero branch is unusual as it is situated at the front of the Next clothing store. As such, it feels a bit of an “add-on” as opposed to a proper cafe, if you get my meaning, and doesn’t have the cosy ambience I normally associate with the Cafe Nero chain. Having said that, it is handy to have a Cafe Nero in an area that is otherwise rather short on alternatives. Service has invariably been good when we have visited and we will certainly continue to use this “branch” when we come to Vanguard.

Really helpful staff. My first time scanning test and trace. They took the time to show me what to do. Did 1 of my cappuccinos with 1 shot. Super staff.

Good service and coffee. Barista did have to take my card out of site which could be disconcerting for some people.

They do great flat whites. The brownie although tasted really good, it was extremely dry.

Worst coffee I have had there, cream with Americano was off. Always go to Nero in the York centre as first choice of coffee bar. Door keeps opening as people outside walk by so very cold and windy, not a relaxing place to have coffee. You have to clean tables and chairs yourself, so it must be understaffed.

The staff here are always friendly and helpful,my favourite drink is the Caramel specialty and they always make it nice also try their caramel shortbread delicious 😋
