On Saturday 18/5/2024 - I looked up on Google the opening hours of Cafe Nero in Petersfield as I was not in town earlier in the day. What was to be my only trip to town to visit Cafe Neros (which I was looking forward to) was a wasted trip. Google clearly said the branch closed TODAY at 18:80. Arrived at 18:00. The Branch was already closed. The closing time on the door did NOT match the advertised closing time online. This is NOT acceptable and wish to warn everyone and complain!!!

Good coffee but a dirty run down coffee house. The floors are dirty and damaged, all surfaces need a deep clean, windows are grubby, there is insufficient staff meaning that the queue is long and tables are not cleared or cleaned and the floor mat at the entrance is coated with dog hairs. It is the dirtiest coffee shop in Petersfield.

Been here many times since 2010. Sadly it has deteriorated recently. Long queues because the online ordering has priority over shop customers. Pastry items sell out before 11am and are not replaced by fresh ones. The coffee menu is too long so preparing all those fancy drinks takes longer. The store is dirty and run-down with numerous tripping hazards. I go rarely now but none of the alternative stores have coffee of equal quality.

a nice location on the square - can sit outside on one of those too rare sunny days! Staff great. Choices of food and drink really good. A "must try" if a visitor

We visited Nero’s in Petersfield today and we’re shocked at the condition of this coffee house. The floor in the entrance area had been repaired with plastic tape, the rest of the flooring would benefit from a deep clean. The state of the walls and window frames is appalling - both in need of total redecoration. The two lady baristas were fairly overwhelmed at times with the number of customers which meant they had no time to clear tables let alone clean them. But even when customers want to clear a table for themselves there is nowhere to put used crockery etc. We use Nero’s very frequently and without doubt this is the dirtiest branch. There seems to be no effort to refurb or even clean the premises. With so many other local coffee shops offering clean and pleasant premises I don’t feel we’d visit this Nero’s again, despite the good coffee.

This Nero’s has been up and down over the years. Sadly it’s fallen off the cliff after a good few years. Most of the experienced staff seem to have gone.. they gave the place a bit of cheer and warmth. The guy (Steve?) who used to work here was great.. Tracey and many of the others of that era gave what is normally a pretty average chain a more local coffee shop feel. The new recruits are terrible. Miserable faces, ‘can’t be bothered attitude’. Long queues, part baked pastries and dirty tables and floors. They also don’t know how to make drinks. I’m not sure if any of the good people remain.. if they do I hope they’re empowered to sack all the new ones and try to hire better people!

I got in the queue to get my coffee which wasn't too long. I sat inside. I overheard the customer in the queue ahead of me asked by the Barista behind the counter if they had the Covid-19 NHS Trace and track app. So I prepared my mobile phone in anticipation of scanning their QR code. Sure enough, when I was served I was, quite correctly asked to scan the QR code. Sadly I wasn't able to locate the code which I was told was behind the perspex screen. I looked at the perspex screen in front of me but it had no QR code. So I asked the male Barista where the QR code was..........he was clearly exasperated by my request and told me in a very patronising way......"There is one on the screen to the left..........One on the screen to the right......another one on the wall behind you and two each side of the door when you came in. His female colleague joined in with his exasperation as to how stupid I was to not to see it. In response to their exasperation at my perceived stupidity, I simply remarked....."forgive me for my ignorance". That drew no response whatsoever. I sat inside and could see how popular he was with his regulars. Well I'm sorry - I may not be a thirty something and I may not be the sharpest knife in the block.....but I am a customer and deserve to be treated with a modicum of respect. Not the exasperated contempt I was shown today.

In the town for the day, we called into Caffè Nero for a light lunch before walking to the Lake. All the usual range of products are stocked and it was nice to eat inside, looking out at the Market Square with a busy market in progress.

A dump that serves vile coffee and stale pastries. Plenty of alternatives in Petersfield, which will appreciate your custom.

A cozy & relaxing little cafe that is ideally situated close to the town centre with limited parking around the Square just outside, there is indoor & outdoor seating plus they sell a wide range of hot & cold beverages as well as cakes & limited hot snacks. I was served by a really nice welcoming member of staff who made my mocha to perfection AND it was hot, unlike my previous visits which is why I have avoided the place for almost 3yrs, a great place to warm up, or cool down depending on the season in this very stunning area.

One of our fave Sunday places in town for a tea and hot choc plus an occasional pastry. Always friendly staff even if the queue is long on a farmers market Sunday.

Well it’s a chain and not one I usually frequent. This visit confirmed that. Lots of uncollected crockery so not a good look—I put this down to not enough staff. Had a hot chocolate which was just too, too sweet. And a cake, which again was too sweet. No wonder we’re all so fat. Come here, fatten up. Time to adjust those recipes for taste rather than a sugar-fix.

Really enjoy our after work coffee in Caffe Nero and find the staff really nice and helpful. If I had to put negative comments, one would unfortunately be the cleanliness of the toilet and some of the tables. It is such a busy place and obviously at busy times you cannot always keep on top of cleaning when you are serving. Also it would be lovely to sit in the front of the cafe and enjoy the view of the square and now the christmas decorations, but the seats are always taken up by the same people that don't seem to be drinking many refreshments! All in all a nice place to visit.

Every time I visit this cafe the manageress is doing no work. Regardless of length of queue... if there there is generally one. Other members of staff are left to cope. They do a great job but without fail are doing ALL the work. This as I say is pretty much every time I visit, which is two to three times per week.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Quick break from some shopping on a cold day. Its situated on the square in Petersfield and we had been looking round the Sunday Farmers market and popped in for a tea/snack. Lot of seating inside and some outside but it was a really busy day although we still found some seats.

We probably visit here more than other places in town for a Sunday drink and maybe a slice of something cakey.... Nice to sit outside in the Summer or in a window seat when it is cold just watching people get on with their lives. Hot chocolate is nice and then so is a mug of tea. Cake choice is good. Have to say I love the small panettone plus the brownies are great.

I love Nero coffee and the cafes, but I have had cause to complain about two other Caffè Nero, the old one in Chichester and the one in Havant. My biggest argument is the lack of cleanliness in the toilets. Petersfield Caffè Nero disappointed in the same area. The hand dryer did not work and on reporting this I was told that “they” will not come and repair it. COME ON NEROS in this day and are we have a right to expect excellent hygiene in toilets offered by places where food and drink is served.

I like Cafe Nero's coffee better than that from the other big chains and, usually, their cafes are pleasant places to be. This one was grubby, with messy tables and uncleared debris. It's also a weird shape which gives the deeper recesses a stygian gloom. The shape of the building can't be helped but better lighting and decor could make a difference. Not impressed.

I would rather spend my energy writing positive reviews and glowing recommendations of places to enjoy refreshments but in this case a double dose of bad service and a grubby café have made it necessary to come clean, which is more than this Caffe Nero does.

I really like Nero's coffee but visiting this cafe is depressing...it's always been scruffy to say the least (sometimes the loo is dreadful!) but when I looked around this time I thought I may never return...there were 2 plants ( just recognisable Poinsettias- not in planters) on the window sill ..one dead and brown the other almost dead. Many light bulbs out so it was dark and dingy and on the walls areas of paintwork touched -up with completely unmatched paint. Is there no manager or someone to care about the way this place looks? The staff are always pleasant but management is missing....a facelift is long overdue

This is in one of the best spots in town, an outside area, hides places to escape in, so why, when your usually busy, can you not be quicker, am tired of clearing a table ourselves & your hidden charges (40p for aerosol cream !) A travesty. Use one of the town independent coffee houses/cafes.

As other coffee places seem to cut the number of comfy battered leather sofas, the more I gravitate towards Neros! Best range of food I find (although could do with a few more vegetarian options)Tomato soup is delicious, even youngsters like it.Lots of tables outside, under cover of awning so nice on a crisp day even when chillly.

Earlier reviews of this Cafe have been mixed and I was not sure what to expect. However, in essence, this is a perfectly good branch of Cafe Nero. Friendly, efficient staff on duty and although this is not high season, tables were cleared regularly. All the usual range of products are carried, there is an excellent range of different seating types and the regular free wifi. It may not be for the gourmet coffee drinker, but provides an enjoyable experience nevertheless.

I tend to go to Neros in Petersfield rather than Costas as the location is better in the Square, the terrace area is bigger, and they have cheese twists which Costa no longer do, so if you are not keen on sweet things and only want to pay £2 or less, then it's a better choice. There are several leather sofas and chairs which are more comfortable to sit on too.Staff vary from very friendly and helpful to frankly offhand and disinterested. Free wifi with the Cloud is handy.

Come here a lot on a stroll around town. Yes service is slower than costa - but the drinks taste nicer (subjective, yes). Staff are always friendly, sometimes not up to speed on clearing tables - but no worse than most other busy places we go to. As with all nero's, sandwich selection could do with a broader range.

We liked the look of this place with its tables both inside and out on the pavement facing the square, and went for a coffee at the end of the day. Closing time was 6.00 pm but when we went in to order at 5.50 pm we were told service was over. No explanation, no apology. Not customer friendly at all. It left a very poor impression.

Revolting food we gad to wait 45 minutes for. Order was wrong, was sent back to the kitchen with a backdrop of loud swearing from the ‘’chef’’ for his mistake. Waited for another 15 mins for an undercooked jacket potato, no apology no nothing. Once ready ‘chef’ loudly announced here is a jacket potato with no butter in a mocking voice… on leaving I was clearly charged for 2 jacket potatoes and the burnt panini but felt the lady behind the counter who did the maths in her head, was too passive aggressive for me to challenge. Safe to say we wont be going back.
