Thank you so much to James, Caffè Nero, Foregate Street, Chester for the truly excellent service and perfectly prepared drink. James, you're a customer service superstar, you were incredible with all your customers, you really brighten a cool, grey day into rays of warm sunshine. Keep going, you're awesome.

I usually like Caffè Nero as the coffee’s good and service is efficient, though quite often tables are left with plates etc uncollected and tables dirty. On this occasion, despite there being only one person in front of me, I waited ten minutes to be served. There were two baristas on duty, but only one was serving. My coffee was served in paper cups as “the dishwasher’s broken”. There were uncollected dirty cups on the table. I went to the toilet. The ladies was out of order. The gents’ consists of one WC. When I gained access, I found the floor flooded, with toilet paper on it, the WC with no seat and looking dirty. I shall give this Caffè Nero a miss in future.

Out of the Caffe Nero Outlets in Chester I always pick this one! Why? because not only is there plenty of room and very comfortable seating, the staff are incredibly warm and welcoming and every time I visit they are always on hand to help!

Arrived ordered coffee went to pay with the Nero app was then aggressively asked to track and trace with the nhs app said I don’t use have not been asked before in any of the other Nero shops the Barista turned nasty and said “Do one” to which I asked for refund and left under a lot of duress. This is a failing on Cafe Nero’s behalf to which I have sought out during my trip from Bath city up to Chester.

OK, so it's just one of a chain, but the barista was a jolly chap and the corner site has amazing high ceilings and a very deco interior. More room inside than at first sight too.

I am a big fan of cafe Nero , but not this one. I have been several times and always had a problem with coffee orders not being right. The staff spend to much time talking to customers and each other they forget to get your order right. I ask for an extra hot wet latte. Never have I ever (4 times) got one on the first go. Have stopped going. Sorry.

Café Nero is café Nero. Excellent coffee and good snacks. Our favourite is the Cappuccino cake. It goes down really well with a flat white. What did impress us about this one was the décor. Interestingly curved frontage and pictures of Chester as well as the usual Italian scenes.

Family visiting from Yorkshire decided to have a coffe here, initially went to sit in soft seating area but decided not to as seats very well used and had food crumbs on them plus the table had dirty used crockery on it. Moved to back of cafe to middle 'booth' sat under air-conditioning unit which was blowing COLD air on a chilly frosty day. 3 male members of staff, long queue, cold and dirty place decided to leave.Needs more staff to cope with lots of customers and keep the place clean and tidy.

... but there's more. You get the Nero experience and today was very good customer service, great coffee as usual, great wifi connection and gentle background music, Italian decor and leather seats making this an enjoyable time.I confess I took in my own cake and ate it. I'm not into paying £1.45 for two small shortbread biscuits. Charge 45 p and I will, it's not the money it's the principle :) enjoy!

We regularly come to this cafe Nero as it usually has such a relaxed atmosphere but today was such a let down. One of the members of staff had her child being looked after by a relative and to say she let her child run wild would be an understatement. Her daughter was running barefoot and screaming from one end of the store and then back to the other in a repetive cycle, screaming and crashing a prism mechanical toy to the ground every 10 seconds, giving myself and my partner a headache every time it happened. Her colleague looked dismayed but he was far to polite to say anything to her as obviously this would put him at odds with her. Managers take note cafe Nero is not a crèche for unruly kids to run a mock, even if it is the staffs children, please promote tranquility and a place to relax.

Great coffee, although sometimes they put the water in first in the americano which causes them to leave some coffee to waste to avoid spillage. This means that you get an overally watered down americano. This however is rare. Generally like most coffee shops, there is a long queue, with 2 people behind the counter but only one making coffee, therefore slow. Clearing and cleaning tables is also slow, with customers often completing the feat. Costs compare to competitor chains, but are expensive compared to locally owned coffee shops. Nevertheless, quality is generally good, seating is available, and free wifi. I go there a lot, but never to eat!

The cosy atmosphere, and the staff who in which work here, make this a perfect little coffee shop. The staff members act like nothing is enough trouble for them. The staff member who served me knocked my drink a little when she was making it, and made the whole drink again! All I thought she would do was wipe the spilled bit off the tray, but no she made the drink all over again; This went a long way! Great coffee shop and I will now use this more often. 1st time there and wow a fantastic little place

We initially went to have coffee and cake in the Crypt, Debenhams, Chester this morning after a longish train journey, but the man behind the counter was SO sarcastic and condescending (because we had dared to take a seat in a restaurant that only had 3 other customers, rather than wait to be seated) that we walked out. Across the road the greeting at Cafe Nero coudln't have been more different. We were warmly welcomed, served with nice coffee and delicious apricot croissants - and we were allowed to sit where we wanted!! - we found the chairs to be comfy and newspapers were available for us to read, so much more welcoming. We won't be visiting the Crypt again but we will be visiting Cafe Nero, thank you and well done to the staff there, you clearly are much happier in your jobs than the middle aged man at the Crypt!

Went here for a nice little coffee. Was served by a youngster called Dylan who dropped it all over the table. What a silly sausage. The cafe itself stunk, the surrounding houses smelled of sewage. The north of puddington smells worse than the south. It's really not worth the pain. Stay well away

We have eaten here a few times now with our little dog, staff very friendly, there are obvious signs about the parking with a tablet at the bar to enter your reg number, the pin is displayed next to this. Good range of food quickly served, twice when we came they were recovering from disastrous floods so the menu was slightly limited, the food was still good though. Lovely setting to sit out by the river and regular entertainment at weekends. Keep it up Red Lion!

My visit was for a lunch with friends. The pub was their local, not one they frequented but it was convenient. It was a memorable visit for all the right reasons. I was welcomed at the bar with smiles and I explained that one of my party had allergies. The checking of the ingredients was really thorough, the food came and it was hot, fresh and delicious. I appreciated all the effort that went in to ensure we had a great time and felt safe. Totally worthy of recommendation and repeat visits.
