Caffe Nero in Hambleton

This is a pleasant Nero on North Alperton high street. The decor is pleasant and our coffees were served quickly and very good. Prices are reasonable.

Went midday on a May Saturday for an iced drink The shop has run out of ice and no made or obtained any more. Left without a drink, unlikely to return.

Always a Pleasure to return to Northallerton, not just for the Joe Cornish Gallery (see separate review). Morning coffee taken at the High Street Caffè Nero. Short queues, good service and delicious Cortado (with premium Peruvian coffee). Ditto Cappuccino with Soya Milk. And two of the freshest Pain au Chocolat we can recall eating. And no sign of empty tables piled with dirty crockery - such a common feature of ALL coffee chains. "Well done Team"

We probably visit Northallerton a couple of times a month and always come here for our coffee. The location is right on the attractive High Street and the window seats give a good view of the town centre. The premises are roomy and are kept very clean. The same staff seem to have been here for a while, which is good as service is friendly and very efficient. Always a pleasure to visit.

Visited today for a takeaway drink. The very friendly and efficient service stood out today, hence the review. It had been so difficult for staff during the pandemic, but it is so lovely to see a friendly face, genuinely wanting to give good service. The 2 staff serving this afternoon were just lovely. Thank you!

The visited started well, our little dog was welcome. Being vegetarian we were delighted to see a veggie sausage roll. My wife ordered one. It arrived at our table in a brown paper bag, on opening it this was not what we ordered. My wife went to take it back and seeing the guy who served her commented that this was the wrong item before continuing to the counter. The guy then turned to a nearby table and said "she asked for a chorizo parcel". Being veggie that was quite simply a lie. When challenged about why he complained about our perfecyly polite complaint he insisted that he had been expressing concern about the signage. Again, quite simply untrue. We won't go there again!

We have always loved Caffe Nero coffee and have recommended it to all our friends. We visited the shop today for the first time since lockdown, looking forward to excellent coffee. Unfortunately the Americano was so weak it was undrinkable. We understand about the throw away cups, but I think the amount of actual coffee used was intended for a much smaller cup than the large cartons that were served to us. The social distancing arrangements in the shop were fine and the staff were friendly. We won't be visiting again until normal crockery is back in use.

We love Neros coffee and almost always pop in when in the town. The staff are consistently good too. Just hope they soon return to porcelain cups like their rivals have....

Great COVID-19 set up, tables spaced out. Dog friendly and great service. All drinks served in take out cups for better hygiene as they are binned after use.

Went in to this caffe nero store in Northallerton and the place was kept clean by the staff members who made sure that the tables were regularly getting cleaned up and tidy ready for the next customers to sit at that table. The service in here was quick and the staff members made sure that they got the queue down quickly. The drink I ordered in here was made how I wanted it and the staff who served me while I was in caffe Nero had good listening skills.

Visited for the first time after reading it was dog friendly and after visiting other Nero’s which had always been nice and welcomed dogs. The lady who brought our lunch to the table said she didn’t like dogs and was scared of our two small yorkies. She then came over again to say could we take our small dog water bowl away with us which we would do anyway. She then came over again to say could I take my small dog off my knee. Felt most unwelcome. Coffee lukewarm and had to be sent back. The area we sat in was unclean and floor filthy. Definitely Not dog friendly or welcoming and will not be visiting again.

I love the coffee and the staff are friendly, but the toilets are disgusting. Looking back at reviews the state of the toilets has been going on for years.Apparently the staff serving coffee are meant to clean the toilets as well as serving. Well I for one do not expect staff serving coffee and food to be cleaning the toilets.Nero’s are all about making big profits when they could at least employ a separate cleaning to clean the whole establishment.

Good location - plenty of on-street parking even despite School holidays. Fast service - not the cheapest cup of coffee - the food is very much overpriced as normal. However, the coffee was excellent. Staff friendly and efficient.

Great place for coffee in my opinion the best tasting and expertly made coffee around. Staff are very efficient and pleasant and make people feel that bit special by remembering there regular orders....nice environment and great atmosphere ...

Called in here today mid morning while shopping in Northallerton. The toilets were unbelievable dirty considering it was mid morning. The outside of the bowl and the rim was disgusting and it wasnt 'new' dirt either. There is no window and the stale smell was bad! Whoever cleans those toilets should be giving more time to clean them properly and leaving them clean and fresh smelling! Go to Barkers upstairs toilets and see how clean they are. I had to come out and use the disabled toilet but that was even worse. There was a signature on the checking sheet saying they had been checked at a certain time but seems that's just a formality and not worth the paper its written on.......

Not bad as coffee shops go, but getting more expensive. Pleasant staff and comfortable seating but looks a bit scruffy from the outside.

We often come to Nothallerton for a Sunday stroll, and invariably pop into Cafe Nero for coffee. It is a good size, so seating has never been a problem and we have always found the service to be polite and reasonably quick.I note the previous comments re the toilets being dirty, but I must say that I have always found them to be clean.

Always serve a lovely americano for me and latte for my wife, staff friendly and helpful too. When looking for coffee in Northallerton, this is the best in our opinion

Excellent decaf coffee and always polite and cheery staff, wish it opened for longer hours. decaf coffee is best of all the big chains. especially recommend for service, they remember customer's orders

Couldn't believe how dirty this place was, especially the toilets. Absolutely disgusting! Surely this is a health hazard and needs dealing with immediately. I can't believe the place is allowed to operate with such filthy amenities.

Popped in with family for a nice drink. Service and drink was fine but the toilets were in such an utterly filthy disgusting state that it really put me off my hot chocolate in a big way. This needs sorting urgently because when some things are unclean customers start asking themselves questions about hygiene in the whole place. Eugh. Horrible experience.

The coffee was good but not remarkable. Two factors let the place down and need management attention. 1. Furniture is ripped and damaged and needs replacing. 2. Hygiene - counter staff moving between serving behind the counter and cleaning the toilets without any obvious signs of gloves, hand hygiene or basic H&S; practices.

The atmosphere is welcoming the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. Coffee is good as well.

Manager was rude, Cafe is looking tired and dirty and furniture is worn, stained ripped and in bad condition. We won’t be back

I go to Nero's at least once a week and the staff are always warm, funny, efficient and helpful. The coffee is delicious and the atmosphere is great.

Of the chain cafes, this is probably my favourite. Here's why:I'm greeted with a friendly smile and staff seem to make an extra effort to make you feel welcome.The coffee is good and consistent in taste and quality (taste is always subjective... but if you like Caffe Nero coffee you get that flavour in any one you go in around the country.... not something I can say for Costa).Coffee is usually made with a double shot (not just here, most places seem to do that now) so if you like your coffee LESS strong... simply ask for a single shot instead.There is iced water available to the side and you can just help yourself.There is a good atmosphere in the cafe.That's the impression I've had from my visits to Caffe Nero cafes. Costa does not have the consistency and some of their staff do not seem to know how to make a genuine flat white. Never had an issue with Caffe Nero.This Caffe Nero branch in Northallerton seems consistent with my experiences elsewhere.Yes, some of the lounge-style chairs are old and could probably do with being replaced or cleaned but apart from that this is a good spot to enjoy some refreshment.

we loved café nero when it first opened,but this year have seen the quality of latte coffee become undrinkable coffee beans taste very bitter.The seats have become shabby,crumbs all over the floor, under the chairs,dusty all around..i can tell it is not getting regular cleaning....shared toilets need cleaning more often..always smelly.. went in last week to see if improvement... coffee prices increased!!!! 2 lattes £5. place still as grubby coffee no better.....will be going to costa now.... also noticed less customers visiting when I pass nero,when costa is so busy...not rocket science.....

Nice place and friendly staff but they have not been trained how to make flat whites. It was nothing more than milky coffee, no crema. Having wasted £5 between us, went down the road to costa for the real thing. I did politely point out to the staff that their product was not a flat white but they seemed oblivious. Training needed, owners!!

Always a great coffee on my visits... Staff have changed since my last visit, but we're still friendly.

Nero's have great coffee and cakes and the atmosphere in the few we have been too is very relaxing and friendly, and the coffee is really good.

Well known coffee house situated in a central spot on the High Street. The usual hot and cold drinks available together with biscuits and light snacks. Handy stop over.

I started popping in to Caffe Nero a few months ago. Having been very unwell and unable to leave the house, the loyalty card was a great way to track my progress and I now go every day. The staff are always friendly, remember my order, and the coffee takes some beating. I get a take out and it is the perfect temperature when I get home - I live a ten minute walk away. My only complaint is that the cakes and pastries are kept together which means I cannot treat myself - I have a nut intolerance and the almond croissants are touching the other pastries.

Pleasant environment. Friendly staff. Nice cuppa. Some furnishings a little shabby. All in all a good place to stop n refuel!

Visited a number of nero caffe's in the regionCoffee is great as always. Staff obliging and trained better than other coffee chains. They always know how to make customers feel appreciated. Plenty of seating. Shame not more comfortable leather seating. The day we visited it was a little messy. Some areas too bright and other spaces dull where bulbs were out. Won't put me off Nero's and mentioning the lights may get this right for my next hot choc or latte.

This is s nice place to come for a chill, meet friends and with family.The coffee is nice and strong unlike the rubbish in Costa. They do not recognise forces discount and the snacks and cakes you can buy are over priced hence only 4 starsThey do porridge though which is a nice touch

You know what you're going to get with Caffe Nero, nice coffee/tea & not as pricey as other chain coffee shops. Very accommodating for our baby (didn't mind warming her food up for her at all) & the ladies behind the counter are very helpful & polite.

Had a quick coffee stop whilst in Northallerton. A typical Caffe Nero with good quality coffee, plenty of seating and toilet facilities.

Had a shot at the hot food now on offer at Nero. I had the bolognese pasta which was actually not bad at all. Otherwise it's just another Nero. I do prefer the coffee here over Costa or Starbucks so I had nothing to complain about on this visit.

This is a typical Cafe Nero Coffee shop in the High St. There are many better local coffee shops in the immediate area that serve far better coffee and should be supported! I have never liked Cafe Nero and this one is no exception!

The coffee is excellent, the service is fast and friendly and the food is reasonable in terms of choice and quality. We used to frequent other establishments in Northallerton [and Darlington] but Caffe Nero fast became our firm favourite whenever we are in town. The staff in particular are very friendly and get to know what coffee you want and exactly how you like it - great service. A recent refurb has smartened up the coffee house in Northallerton with new couches and chairs [see picture].Being an old building I know that there are occasional problems with the toilets but personally I have never felt the need to complain. The fact that my wife has no hesitation in using the toilets speaks volumes in itself.Keep up the good coffee and service and, yes....make sure the tables are regularly cleared and the toilets inspected to avoid any further negative comments from others who are less satisfied than we have been... and we visit frequently and have always been satisfied.The Northallerton café also welcomes well behaved dogs and my spaniel even drags me in when we pass as she loves Caffe Nero so much!

Caffe Nero please, please clean your establishment. The toilets are, to be honest, the most filthy in the whole of Northallerton. I cannot believe nothing has been done about it? The rest of the place is fine and actually could be so much more inviting if only the place was given a good scrub and a clean.

Our first time in a Caffe Nero and could be the last judging by this branch! The coffee and cake were ok. The table we sat at hadn't been cleared or wiped but since there wasn't much choice we moved the trays etc onto the next table to make room for ours. Neither table was cleared in the time we were there. I couldn't believe the decrepit state of the leather sofa, no support left in cushions, 'leather' picked off arms and so dirty! Likewise the dirt-ingrained, originally ivory- coloured chairs which are mentioned by another reviewer. This was in the window, which gives the customer the first impression, I wish we'd looked first as we wouldn't have gone in!I agree with the other comments about dirty toilets, it had been raining but wet floors certainly weren't the only problem. We usually find that small independents offer a better service, I'm off now to check the reviews for a recommended one in the Northallerton area... (Many thanks to those who post)

With Caffe Nero, you know what you're getting irrespective of it being Northallerton, Harrogate, Leeds or London (unless it's a new store such as Thirsk which is finding its feet and I'm sure/hope that it gets there)?My biggest bugbear which seems to happen at all Nero sites and potentially other counter ordered/serviced establishments is the lack of etiquette exhibited by some customers. The people that come in and see a queue but take the vacant comfy seats or the seats in the window or the last seats.....I have raised this through Nero surveys and directly in a different location and yet nothing can seem to deter this practice.

After a day on my motorbike, I spotted Cafe Nero juts along the road from my hotel. Staff were friendly and didn't mind me coming in for a coffee 20 minutes from closing.

Service is consistently good and efficient. Coffee is excellent as are the pastries. Atmosphere is relaxed and convivial and it is in a\ good location.

Not impressed one bit, took forever to get served, simple orders in front of me. Servers faffing about and talking, didn't know how to stack pots or trays. Pleasant, though completely unaware of the chaos they had created.Went to sit at the window, there was a disgusting number of filthy ingrained leather chairs, absolutely black. I asked the waiter if he could wipe the arms. He started to rub it with the same cloth he brought from behind the counter. The floor was also filthy, obviously never washed for days.I told him the chair " was years of ingrained muck", who is the cleaner? His response was "We have been waiting for new chairs for ages". I said that's not the problem. He just shuffled off. The ladies was closed so one wc for all. Well I have reported this to the Health & Safety, months/weeks of urine stained tiles, congealed faeces on seat, soiled nappy stuffed behind pipes, sink stained full of dried black scum, hand dryer (i'm laughing now) settled black dust. Toilet Pedestal urine sprayed inches high and human hair stuck to pedestal. WHERE DO THE STAFF WASH THEIR HANDS AFTER USING THE W.C. I took photographs.I went back days later and you guessed, its all exactly the same level of cleanliness. Nothing had been done and I took updated photographs. I had been to this café months earlier and although poor hygiene then in wc its surpassed all levels now. Unless you want some serious stomach bug go elsewhere I shall.

We normally go to Betty's in Northallerton but thought we would give cafe Nero a goCoffee was lovely not too bitter like you get at Costa Sandwiches were very tasty

I normally go to Costa's but thought I'd give Nero a go..Served a lot quicker than Costa, a lot more seats than Costa, coffee as good as Costa..An all positive experience.

We visited Northallerton as part of a holiday to the UK and were delighted to find such good coffee in such a nice venue. The baristas produced great coffee and were really friendly, the food is good, they have free wifi and the cafe is peaceful and comfortable.

Nice staff, good coffee, plenty of room and no loud music. Full range of different coffees and tea. Food is pretty restricted by what's in the cooler which is a shame as it gets repetitive and therefore in the end you'll pop elsewhere for lunch.

We like this place, we find the baristas very helpful and friendly. The coffee is lovely - I like the Americano and my husband the cappuccino . The chicken arrabiatta panini is great- lo cal and lo -fat! The muffins are also lovely but the scones are stodgy and decidedly un- crumbly!! The setting is very pleasant- can't comment on the WCs as never used them! We return regularly.

By the 3rd time I went there, the Baristas recognized and greeted me with warm "Hia's" and "How has your stay been?" -maybe they remembered because of me being an American in a wee tiny North England town.. Free WIFI and loyalty card makes me come back time after time when I'm on holiday. Granted, sometimes it's a bit messy but I return my cups/plates to the counter which is appreciated.. If everyone did a little of their own tidying up, then nobody would complain..

I have always found staff friendly chatty and am here at least one or twice a month for three or four fixes! Well a guy has to build up the loyalty points. The loos are always clean wg2n I use them. I qm a coffee addict visit qnd taste many and Nero brews good.

Coffee nice and strong, fast service, only draw back it always seem very noisy. Coffee tastes like coffee and not just milky froth! Overall service good, would go back.

Sadly, many of the Nero Cafes we have visited the staff are only there to do their job. It was hard to find a table that had been cleared and even the table we sat at didn't get wiped or cleared while we were there. Coffee is very average. Obviously, we are used to more of a personal touch when it comes to choosing a cafe as many people frequent these places.

Despite living locally I've never used Nero, went with a friend the other day. Drinks served pretty quickly, they were nice enough. Decided to sit on the comfy chairs - which were fine but so close the the coffee machines I felt like I was shouting to make myself heard! Both toilets were out of order and when we checked, staff laughed it off! I guess these things can't be helped but it put me right off!

Im a regular visitor of neros whenever im near one and the coffee and cake was up to the usual high standard which i like but the toilets were absolutely filthy with dust and muck in the sink and hand dryer and what could be described as hairballs and fluff all over the toilet floor. I called in here at ten one morning so this cant of accumulated through the day but to be honest this was more than one days worth of muck, dust and hair!! The staff were also giving the impression that they couldnt be bothered being there.
