Caffe Bardolino in Calderdale

Food excellent as always. Lunch booked at very short notice, restaurant busy but food served quite quickly. Lasagne is a good test of an Italian restaurant and this was first class.

Superb little restaurant, the food is delicious and reasonably priced. The desserts are a must. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Especially Katie. Definitely a place to try if you haven’t already.

Today was the second time that we have visited Bardolinos. The first time that my husband and I went we agreed that the food was impressive. Today we took our daughter there for lunch and we were not disappointed! A lovely greeting when we arrived and made to feel so welcome. The food and service is absolutely fantastic and the garlic mushrooms were the best I have ever tasted!!! A big thank to all the staff for a memorable lunch. We will be back!! Highly recommend!!

Great meal on a busy Friday evening. Fish platter and King Prawn + Chorizo risotto were a particular highlight. Staff brilliant and very friendly. Would absolutely come back 👍🏻

Decided to try here after hearing good reviews for our monthly night out with friends. Sevice was a little to be desired with wine just dumped on the table and not poured, drinks taking a long time to arrive and when asking for a drink it was almost a sigh from the staff. The food although myself and friend enjoyed ours, our husbands used the special sirloin. This came with salad leafs and for £25 seems extortionate. Not only that but when they both came they were not cooked as requested. By this time the sides which all cost extra had been placed on the plate were all taken away albeit the staff dealt with this well. When the steak came back it came back with just the steak on. When asked if we could have some more sides we were told we would have to pay for these. We were not happy about this so the men just shared our sides. Not only that we were charged for them all despite not having them. The tables are also packed in and do not move as they are fixed down which doesnt make for a comfortable space. All on all it tainted our view on the place which is a shame given some things were lovely. We wont be in a rush to go back unless things change.

Sadly the chicken was raw in the middle so much so that a lady sat on the very near next table to me saw it and said it looked like jelly. I asked if they could butterfly it. The same piece came back cut in half but still looked undercooked and I was put off by it by that time. The waitress knew when I showed it and offered me something else. I had the linguini which was quite tasteless but I did eat some as I was hungry. It arrived just as my husband had finished his dinner! What a shame on Valentine’s Day. There was a nice waitress who offered a free pudding which helped but we will not return. On a positive note it is very clean but too bright for evening dinner, think it might be ok during the day for tea and cake

Love this lovely little cafe bar, the food is always plentiful, tasty and to a high standard. If its lunch or evening dinner there lots of choice and food is fresh and delicious. Wine list is good too. Staff are friendly. Always have an enjoyable visit.

Bardolinos was a first time visit from us and pretty much spot on food and service wise. Whilst not totally full for a smallish restaurant, they were fairly busy. Booking in advance is I would imagine strongly recommended. Our party consisted of 7 of us for an adult family reunion meal just after Christmas. Everyone very much enjoyed their meals with no complaints or concerns. The dinner menu is varied enough to please most diets and palates although there were a couple of dishes unavailable on the night. The 2 staff were attentive and gave great table service. The only let down for us, having booked the table for 5.45pm was that without any warning and before we had a chance for deserts, we were politely asked to vacate our table at 8.15pm so that another party of 10 could be accommodated before their weekday closing time of 9pm. This was a shame but otherwise much to be credited to this Italian style establishment and we would definitely pay a return visit on a similar occasion.

We visited here as friends for a catch up, my first time visiting. What a beautiful restaurant! Very friendly staff (although a little slow sometimes, and not very busy when we visited). The food though was amazing - so fresh and tasty! Really enjoyed our visit and I will definitely return. The chicken and mushroom penne was to die for! Beautiful desserts as well. Very clean and pleasant atmosphere. My only qualm was that we were seated by the window and there are no blinds or window shades - so the sun was in our eyes the entire meal. But still, will definitely be back! Thank you 😃 🍝

My fellow diner has been here many times and has always enjoyed their very good food. Today 16th August, I has the same pleasure of tasting the very good food but our waitresses were terrible. We asked for extra time to chat before ordering but then we waited and waited whilst other diners had their order taken. It seemed that the servers were not interested in catching our eye and coming to take the order. In the end I went to the bar to ask to order our food. I had to insist as the server I spoke to was very keen for me to sit down and wait again for her to take our order. Eventually we were served but the same thing happened when we decided to have a dessert. We waited and waited again and watched as other diners got served. Again we felt ignored. We just gave up, paid and left. We were in the not very busy restaurant from 12.15 to 13.30. It was a very disappointing experience as my fiend and I don't meet very often and obviously like to chat and eat. It was clear that for some reason our servers were not keen on serving US. I won't ever go back and neither will my friend. More hostility than hospitality I'm afraid.

We went on Wednesday evening. There was a large party already there when we arrived and it felt like we were gatecrashing a party especially when the speeches were being given. Service was fast, friendly and efficient and we both really enjoyed our meals . An enjoyable visit

This was our first time at Bardolinos and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were great, the atmosphere was typical Italian and the food was excellent. We'll be back!

I had chicken chaser salad but the chicken was overcooked, so very dry. My husband had a burger & said it was delicious. The staff were lovely apart from one young lady who was very snarky & it wasn’t just me that thought so. Customer service is everything, perhaps some training would be beneficial.

4 of us visited this lunchtime and all really enjoyed our meals. We each had a different main course, all of us clearing our plates. I had chicken, 2 had pasta dishes and the other member of our group, risotto. It was our second visit and won’t be our last. The place has a friendly buzz about it, but not too noisy that you can’t talk.

Just had lunch here. Once again it was delicious. Always worth a visit. I have the sharing fish platter. No chance of sharing that it was too good !! Highly recommended

Lovely restaurant with great food and atmosphere. Good menu and always a decent selection of specials on the board. Went with family for a Mothers Day lunch and we weren’t disappointed. We found the staff really friendly, helpful and attentive, even though it was busy. Will definitely go again.

We had a bad experience this time. We’ve been before and had a brilliant time. Service was very slow, they didn’t accommodate for kids no kids menu and zero empathy. Felt like we was a burden to their day. Asked for service charge to be taken off, young girl was very rude and didn’t say thank you or bye to us. Will not be returning which is a shame, as we live so close.

Great food but served in a noisy cafe-style premises. Felt more exclusive a few years ago but doesn’t feel like a special place to go now. Booked by phone for 7:30pm and was told that we could have the table until 9:15pm. Heard some customers being asked to leave their table in five minutes. Nice staff. Mid-range prices.

Middle way meeting point between friends. Greated by staff who were really friendly and great knowledge about the menu. Service and food arrived at great timings and all the table was happy. With a clean and bright environment we will definitely be back again

We had our wedding reception here this weekend just gone (29/05/21). The staff couldn't do enough for us, the food was amazing and every order came perfect and in great time. Thank you so much for helping towards what was a perfect wedding day even under the current Covid climate!

Very friendly and attentive service.I was surprised to the about the Covid comment in an earlier review. Not sure what happened when they were there but I am happy to say from my experience they are as safe as anyone could make it. Bardolino's seem to be doing everything they can to make the place safe and still welcoming. We went the week before the 1st lockdown was announced and I thought they were very good then...returned last Saturday and as they have now been living with this for most of this year they have added even more.. good notices, reduced tables. good selection of wipes/gels immediately inside, staff cleaning down tables/chairs/back seating as soon as tables are vacated, cleaning their own hands very regularly, wiping door handles regularly. It is amongst the best I have seen during the Pandemic both here and overseas...well done Bardolino's. You continue to deserve peoples support for all you are doing and the quality you are delivering!!

The meal we had was fabulous and the service is excellent. It is a gem. Unfortunately we felt uncomfortable as there were parties seated who appeared to be flouting the COVID-19 restrictions. It’s challenging for restaurants to police these matters however we felt at risk in this restaurant.

Visited Tuesday 25th Aug for a late lunch and enjoyed our visit very much. Tables spaced out, service was prompt and the food very tasty. The menu is reduced but still a good selection to choose from. It normally isn’t a cheap option but with the eat out scheme meant that we bagged ourselves a bargain for 2 courses of quality food. Thanks to the chefs and waitress’s for a lovely meal

Our first visit and certainly wont be our last!Super friendly staff and felt completely safe under the circumstances.The food was absolutely delicious and enough time was left between courses as to not feel like we were being rushed. Not overpriced for the amazing freshly cooked food that is received.Well worth the visit!!!

The food was nice but felt that something was missing. Some bread to accompany our starters would of been nice and some veg with the mains would of been nice without it been an extra.

We visited on a Saturday evening, not long after restaurants reopened due to lockdown. The food was the usual fantastic quality which we enjoy at Bardolino. We were also so impressed with the high level of infection control which we saw staff doing in between customers. We felt very safe here. Well done Bardolino.

Wonderful food and have eaten there many times. The waitresses are always lovely. The food is excellent and they've taken great care to distance tables during this pandemic.

We popped in on Sunday morning and thankfully there was a table free. Tables are well spaced and good hygiene measures in place. Food was great as always and friendly staff, high chair available for our toddler.

Had my wedding reception here and it was fabulous, Katie and her team were brilliant, the food absolutely delicious. This is an ideal venue for a small intimate wedding. All guests could not praise the food enough.Well done and thank you for making our wedding so special.

I visited Caffe Bardolino on a Saturday lunch time. It was busy on arrival, but a nice buzzing atmosphere. Definitely a ladies that lunch sort of vibe! I went for the tuna jacket potato which was lovely. It was served with a nicely presented side salad and was a really big portion. Well worthy of the £6.50 price tag. Washed down with a beautiful glass of Pinot Grigio rose. My friend had the mozzarella and red onion toastie which looked equally as good with a portion of hand cut chips. The service was good and the staff friendly and professional. I would definitely return and would like to see what it’s like on an evening. A really enjoyable couple of hours.

First visit over the weekend. Staff friendly and professional. Service good. Food good. However some mains expensive for what you get. For example halibut steak was very small with potatoes.

We visited recently in the evening. I think £18.90 for a piece of fish with a side dish is way too expensive. We live locally and visit regularly but sadly we won't be going again. The food is delicious but the prices are ridiculous! It's such a shame. It's Hipperholme not Chelsea ha!

We were in for the breakfast menu, the only ones in the restaurant! It took 40 mins for 5 ‘pretty simple’ meals to reach the table! Once they came they were unsatisfactory and as for 4 out of the 5 of them I was astonished they were even served!The scrambled egg were ridiculously peppery, arguably inedible! The omelette looked more like a crispy Yorkshire pudding. All this accompanied with burnt toast! Been to this restaurant several times, however unfortunately the standards seem to be slipping! Very disappointed but hope the restaurants takes in the feedback on the food and it can be improved for future customers.

Just had Sunday lunch here.Bardolinos is nothing like ordinary Sunday lunch, this is Sunday lunch Italian style. The food is superb, the service delightful albeit as everything is cooked to order, the wait can be a bit lengthy.Garlic ciabatta with mozzarella starter is wonderful. So simple but so perfect! Fillet burger with caramelised onions and a peppercorn sauce, just brilliant. My wife’s pollo suprema was also great with a delightful mushroom sauce.Mille feuille with cream - oh boy, that was good!!

Been here twice now and it’s good value for money for good quality food. It’s a small busy restaurant the menu isn’t huge (a good thing!) quality is always excellent I so wanted to given it 5 stars and should really I was just annoyed when we booked to be told we can only have the table for so long; I mentioned they would be more than happy with our bill/bar bill to which on the night we spent a lot; but we drank a lot too!! Not a complaint about how much we spent in any way I might add we had a lot - to which we were left alone and not rushed on the night. Will definitely also add we will go again - we all had starters and main couldn’t fit the delicious look deserts in even if we wanted too... big thank you and see you again soon.

Dropped in for lunch on a Sunday. Surprised to see that it was pretty quiet at 1pm. Friendly staff, wide ranging Italian menu. Very well presented food,a good range of wines. Certainly value for money for food of this quality. Will be back having moved to the area.

I try and visit each time I come back from Australia, as much for the amazing hospitality, as for the food. That said, the meatballs were good, and the prawn and chorizo risotto was excellent. And you can't go far wrong with a Valpolicella to accompany it. Great work.

I've visited Bardolino's a few times and I'm always welcomed by a warm, friendly atmosphere and attentive, well mannered staff. They have a great menu (including good vegetarian options!) and wine list and it's also a suitable restaurant for families. I always enjoy my meals and would recommend to anyone in the area.

My partner and visited recently one Saturday . The food was absolutely excellent . A very busy place and was very noisy at the time but we enjoyed the food never the less . Waitresses were lovely . Service good. One negative however was that some lights were turned off around 10 pm , so we took that as a sign that staff wanted to go home and we felt a bit hurried , although we had finished our meal . We would return

Visited today for lunch ,waiting staff very friendly as always but the food was very poor the starter was cold but our main course crab spaghetti was swimming in oil ,we were unable to eat it , I did tell the waitress and she said she would pass our comments on to the chef.

Amazing food with friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely visit again. The only thing that could have improved the visit was if the heating had been turned on as it did get rather cold half way through our meal.

We have visited Bardolinos on several occasions over the months and whilst the food is always tasty, and staff helpful and polite, unfortunately the waiting times are really becoming a problem. I don’t want to be over critical as everything else is good but they really need to improve these waiting times, particularly for lunch times when often people have limited time available. Nearly 2 hours to be served and eat sandwiches is not appropriate

I have visited this cafe a lot over the years as I live locally but generally during the day not in the evening. The staff have varied over the years but at the moment they are very helpful & attentive. My main obervation is that the breakfast choice doesn’t vary from eggs,eggs & more eggs! So you can’t have a traditional breakfast, bacon sandwich or sausage sandwich. I wish they would vary it more so that the food options are as good as the lunchtime & evening choices. Other than that, its a pleasant little cafe to visit anytime of day or evening.

Visited for a special birthday lunch but extremely disappointed. The restaurant was busy and we knew some waiting time was inevitable but we were completely ignored for over an hour. When I politely mentioned to staff that our order hadn’t yet been taken she literally bit my head off and snapped back at me to the extent that I wanted to leave the place immediately. Her attitude was arrogant beyond belief - like she was doing me a favour serving me. She actually raised her voice to me - I didn’t know where to look. However,not wanting to spoil the birthday mood and sense of occasion, I felt obliged to let it go. Not once did any staff member explain or apologise for the wait - or even ask if we needed anything else.

Fantastic anniversary meal. Goats cheese carrozza to start was beautiful followed by rigatoni Manzoni which was beautifully tender and tasty. Great vegetarian menu also.

We ate here on Sunday. I had the meatballs to start which were very nice and a generous portion. For mains I had the prawn and chorizo risotto which was very tasty and would definitely have again. Service was friendly and fast.

Called in for a meal at lunch time last week, it was quite full but they found us a table. The food was Excellent and the staff were excellent too

Visited at lunch time with 2 friends. We booked but one of us was late as parking is a big issue and she couldn't find anywhere near. Place was buzzing, quite noisy so difficult to have a conversation. Drinks order was taken promptly but meal order took ages, in fact we asked twice to order as we saw three other tables had their orders taken and they had come in after us! They told us we had to wait as we hadn't all been on time!!!!

Went with friends. Booked table in advance as it is a very popular restaurant for good reason. The wine was very good and the food first class. Look forward to another visit ... soon!

Love this little cafe, great food and so handy to have in the village. Went again for lunch last week and boy oh boy was the service appalling - they weren’t even busy. The waitress was unfriendly and could hardly be bothered to serve us to the point of being rude. It was such a shame because it made us feel uncomfortable. Sadly the owner wasn’t there that day or we would have mentioned it to him.

Two friends and I visited this place a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. The choice of food was great and had some classic Italian food in without being all pasta and pizza. I ate risotto which was excellent. A friend had the steak burger which she said was really good. Not too bad prices, good considering the quality. Service was okay, a bit dull but speed was fine.

Food was excellent, fish sharing plate was more than we could have anticipated for 4 of us, fab. The mains were also fantastic, 2 x crab spaghetti, and 2 x steak with pasta, all excellent quality, Great atmosphere and friendly staff. We had a great conversation with the owner after our meal, he took the time out to find out a little about us and made us feel really welcome.... we will be back soon x

Myself & some friends tried here, what a lovey surprise. Food really tasty and cooked well, staff very attentive prices ok. Slight downside is it can get a little noisy as it echoes a bit but did not spoil the experience. Well worth a visit I will be going back

My sister and I generally walk past this place to go for lunch to a local pub. On this occasion the pub had stopped serving food so on walking back home, we decided to look at this restaurant menu and decided to give it a try. I can honestly say I am glad we did! Lovely staff, nice atmosphere. We sat outside in the sunshine with the babies in the Pram’s and felt the stress of the day disappear. We weren’t rushed and the servers had just the right amount of contact.

Doing other shopping in the vicinity, we were recommended to Bardolino's. Obviously very popular as the place was still almost full at 2:45. The surroundings were clean, bright and welcoming, the staff smiled, drinks were quick -- but the lasagne--- to die for. SUPERB. I have eaten all over the northern hemisphere from Kyrgyzstan to Canada and this was one of the best I've tasted. Wife had Caesar Salad, well prepared and presented. Not too expensive, but worth it. Even though it's 40miles from our home town, we'll be back for more.

We really enjoyed our meal here last August and on this visit the food and service was as before. Perhaps the service was even better.

Two for breakfast. Asked for macchiatto coffees and two lattes in espresso cups arrived. Asked for two double espresso which duly arrived minus anything approaching a crema. Ie a thimble sized Americano served tepid. At this point we gave up and wondered why a cafe awards itself an Italian moniker when it can't produce a decent coffee. Clearly the equipment is badly maintained and or dirty as there was insufficient pressure. The juvenile staff were oblivious. We had already ordered croque madam and eggs Florentine. The eggs Florentine was ok but the croque madam was terrible. No sauce whatsoever simply badly made eggy bread with cheap ham and an over cooked poached egg on top. Really really poor and indicative of inexperienced staff and are devoid of any hospitality skills. Not once even upon paying the bill were we asked if everything had been to our liking. We were extremely dissappointed as the menu was tempting and we had hoped to dine here on an evening. Needless to say this will not be happening. The two star rating is only in recognition of the ability to wilt spinach proficiently. Good god!! Do not spend your time and money here as both will be wasted

Dined here many times and always enjoyed the experience. The food is always very good and the service efficient and friendly. The place has a relaxing ambience and a nice busy feel to it. Although there are several blackboard specials, as someone who visits regularly, it would be nice to see a few changes to the main menu from time to time.

We eat here regularly and are always delighted with the food. As the name suggests this is a vibrant, busy “caffe” and an atmosphere we love. The food is sublime. From pasta dishes that are the tastiest around to fillet steak that is to die for, the menu is varied and interesting. We had the mozzarella starter, an Italian classic with flavoursome tomato sauce and fresh basil oil. I had the Bardelino Ragu which is absolutely fantastic and my wife had the king prawn and chorizo risotto which was really good.
