Cafe Zio in Brighton and Hove

Having visited today my wife and I had the all day breakfast.the food and service was good however ,hygiene was extremely poor tables and chairs still had crumbs and. It’s if food is n them nobody wiped tables after clearing plates . I noticed 8-10 flys flying around and walking on the ceiling. This only comes from poor hygiene. I asked to speak to owner or manager and was advised no one here today. Perhaps this is why today there was no hygiene. Won’t be eating here again. Sorry to say this but I speak the truth and explained it all to the waiter on the day.

a party of 6 went there yesterday for coffees and cakes, (after being turned away by incredibly rude man next door at Bella Napoli), it was wonderful experience, the lady who runs it was so lovely and accommodating, made amazing coffees ,staff very friendly,we even bought dog ice cream for our dog and they sold a lovely selection of cakes. would highly recommend

Popped in before going to a local cinema for a couple of milkshakes, strawberry and vanilla. How disappointed we was .When they eventually arrived, it was obvious that the flavouring had been added just by using a squirt of flavouring syrups like you used to get on your 99s... So very disappointing. 90% spray cream

Stumbled across Zios and so happy we did, the owner was SO friendly, the food is locally sourced and delicious and the coffee….. yum!

Nice welcome and quick service. Breakfast was really nice and hot, freshly cooked. Good selection of cakes/pastries. Seems really popular with lots of outside seating in the sunshine!

A superb little cafe - really friendly staff from the moment we walked in. We had the full english breakfast & omelette. All was cooked fresh to order and presented really nice and was delicious! Biscoff milkshake and a glass of sauvigion was throughly enjoyable. Lovely outside seating area too, great location. Really relaxed cafe, with lovely background music. Could have stayed all afternoon! We can’t wait to visit again.

The food was well presented by friendly staff and of really good proportions and quality. Well worth a visit, straight outside the Malmaison front door and across the street.

Wanted to go here with a friend for lunch. There was a lady who looked like she was leaving as all other tables were busy. I asked her and she was incredibly rude and didn't even look at me. Muttered I could sit there. There was only one chair and the table needed cleaning. The lady was actually the owner. Unfortunately we didn't stay due to the attitude we received

We stayed with friends, we had a great time. I think whoever served were the owners. The food was really good, as was the coffee. Reasonable prices. We will definitely be back. Keep it up 👍

What an unexpected delight. Only a couple of minutes' walk from the car park at Asda, this friendly cafe offers a broad menu. Our sandwiches were tasty and well-presented, while the service was efficient and attentive.

Went for breakfast, looked busy, breakfast was 2eggs and halloumi on toasted bread sandwich- tasted very nice and good size fulfilling breakfast. Lovely staff. Will definitely return. Note to staff: please attend to the phone calls. No answer when I rung back for missed item.

Update Sep23: Ignored by staff when barely 20% full. You don't expect to get ignored while others get served around you. After 20mins without even being offered a menu, and people who arrived were immediately served, I gave up. Please get the basics right. Very disappointing. I previously reported it was greatly improved over a couple of years ago, so very disappointed to see the basics so wrong. As a fairly regular customer (less than a week since last visit) I'll go elsewhere for now.

Amazing breakfast, food and drinks. The staff are absolutely lovely, very attentive and friendly and welcoming. As a resident in the Marina been here a few times for lunch or a coffee and always made to feel very welcome and the food is 10/10. Recently went with the family for a cooked breakfast and iced coffee. Delicious. Would highly recommend 👌

Why are the first three reviews word for word identical then a bit further down there are three more the same identical word for word, possibly writing own reviews? (or getting friends to give good reviews?) Is this because its not as good as it used to be, we left a glowing review about a year ago but now the food we had was okay (did not get what asked for) the atmosphere is tense as the manager / owner appears to want to do everything and not trust his staff (he was the one that got the order wrong) this causes the tension and it is very obvious the staff are not happy.

Well worth a visit. Food is well presented and tastes amazing. Cannot fault.

Always a wonderful welcome, fantastic family vibe. Food is excellent and really well priced. Coffee is consistently very good. Can get very busy but that's because it's so good 😉 Dogs more than welcome. What more can I say? Love is little gem.

Sadly this experience was pretty bad due mainly to the rudeness and disrespectful staff on duty. The outside tables were not cleared that gave seagulls a field day. I made a friendly suggestion about how the gull problem could be partially solved and this was met with an extraordinary response. As someone that has a chronic neurological illness that is not helped by stress I am unlikely to visit again.

When I arrived, I asked if I could take a menu, and the server inside was very friendly and said yes of course, and assured me someone would be along to take my order shortly. I waited 10 minutes and no one came, so I decided to order inside. The same server was on the bar area, and also seemed disappointed no one had come to serve me! They were very helpful and put my order through for me. I ordered a toasted sandwich with a side salad, but the salad was literally all of three leaves which I thought was a bit stingy. The sandwich was pleasant enough, but the chap who came to deliver the sandwich was very unfriendly, just plopped it down and walked off. Food is fine, but service is hit and miss - I noticed the chap would be very lovely and welcoming to certain other tables, but I felt neglected and forgotten about.

What a great cafe. We were passing through on a sailing trip and needed a breakfast. This was the only decent place open. The staff were welcoming, efficient and professional. Good coffee. I ordered the scrambled egg with smoked salmon. I was not dissapointed. It was cooked to perfection. Presented on a good quality slice of toast with a generous helping of salmon. It was delicious and good value. I would recommend Cafe Zio.

What a great find in the marina! Owner a lovely man who is happy to come and chat with you and a lovely person behind the counter also serving us who knew the job inside out - fantastic service. Had an English breakfast and was served hot with fresh and quality produce. Locals seem to love it, there is a outside seating area and an extensive menu offering all sorts, pastries, cakes, eggs, you name it. Reasonable prices as well.

We were staying at a local hotel but we wanted to eat breakfast at one of the local cafés as we had a dog with us. This café is extremely dog friendly and the food was excellent. Really good quality sausage and bacon and sourdough toast elevated the whole breakfast.staff were very pleasant and it made to a good start to the day!

We visited this pub/restaurant several times just to see what it was like. The service was excellent and the food was good although the portions could be better and on one visit when we placed an order for scampi and chips we were given what looked like the scraps at the bottom of the chip fryer but overall we like the staff and the position of the pub is great as you are by the river adur and for ramblers its great as you have several walks nearby.

Friendly and welcoming with tasty fresh food and great choice. Such a refreshing change from the soulless franchises around it. We will return.

Visited for lunch with a large party, including a dog and 2 babies, and the staff were absolutely fantastic. They rearranged tables for us, made sure we had enough room for buggies and high chairs and were very attentive throughout the meal. The food was lovely and not too expensive either.

We went for breakfast, we didn't know if we had to order at the counter or someone came to the table. When we went to order, we were told they came to the table, which felt odd as there were no menus on the table...

After reading reviews we came one Saturday specifically to Cafe zio for breakfast. We weren't disappointed, great food, great cage great service.

Huge thank you to Caroline, Angela and Ruth - absolute superstars. I booked for a group of us to celebrate my birthday and the birthday of two other friends. There were 10 adults and one 14 month old tot and if these three superstars were rushed or harassed you would never have known. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious, all the drinks were lovely AND the cakes were scrumpy. Nothing was too much trouble and the three girls were amazing. So friendly and knowledgeable and just lovely. Angela's delivery of which cakes were available was fabulous. She knew every single one. I'm definitely coming back and I know my friends will too. Thank you so much xxx

We came across this place whilst looking around The Marina We went on for breakfast and it was great Cooked breakfast of sausage egg bacon mushrooms beans hash browns and tomato all served on a slice of rustic bread Tasty is all I can say...
