Cafe W in Sheffield

Nice Cafe situated in a lovely part of Sheffield. A nice place for some down time, there's a good number of seats and tables available, a couple 2 seater seats outdoors on a balcony overlooking Orchard Square. I ordered a cortado and it was decent, £3 for that and an Americano is about £2.75, I'm not too savvy about what the going rate would be but I don't feel robbed. Would really recommend on a sunny day if you're by yourself or as a couple as there's only one 4 seater with a window view.

Cafe W is truly special. It's situated on the top terrace of Waterstone's in Orchard Square, with pleasant views over the complex. The service was very good and the seats are very comfortable - armchairs that you sink in to. The tea was good. A wide selection of cakes & sandwiches were available, as well as chocolate and toasted teacakes. It's definitely worth a visit.

In Waterstone Bookstore 1st floor, has friendly staff and the space with cosy atmosphere. It's almost fully seated when I stop by at 4:30, weekday.

This is the cafe on the top floor of Waterstones bookshop in Orchard Square. It is a really great place mid-week when it is quiet. They serve the usual stuff that you will find in a Costa including sandwiches and cakes. They can do with more prompt clearing of the tables or allow customers to return the cups and utensils at the end of their visit.

Popped in on spec one weekday morning upon early arrival in Sheffield. Beautiful surroundings, I made some spontaneous book purchases as the choice is wonderful and we're fortunate to have our bookshops still. Cafe fine but what a shame - no decaff option for coffee. Nice seating, lighting just right, ambience on point. Then, hmmmm - the toilets - they need some serious cleaning and attention, the route through is compromised with boxes and it detracts awfully from the front of house offering. Come on local and regional managers - give the loos some love.

Positives - nice environment, nice drinks, convenient. Negatives - can be noisy and crowded. Also they seem to close much earlier now than they used to which is the main reason I rank it as average, as it is problematic enough looking for alternate places to go once you find out this cafe is no longer serving later in the afternoon.

On a recent shopping trip to Sheffield we called into Waterstones cafe and had a scone and coffee. Scone lovely as was the coffee. It is a very relaxing space and the service is always good.

I met a colleague governor for a coffee and chat. Managed to find a couple of very comfortable seats. It was initially quite quiet but by the time we left was filling up. Lovely coffees and very good service. It was a productive discussion in very nice surroundings. Try it!

After some shopping in the sales we went to Waterstones cafe for a cuppa. It was busy but we found a quiet corner. We had teas and shared a cake bar. It really is a relaxing place. We both like it.

We decided to walk into town on Sunday to do some shopping. Pat suggested we go to the Waterstones cafe in Orchard Square for a coffee. Good decision. Nicely set out, comfortable chairs and excellent coffee. Very relaxing.

I visit Waterstones cafe regularly. The staff are super polite and friendly despite the fact they are short staffed (I observed member of staff on their lunch break get up two or three to serve at the till) The coffee always tastes good, the food is very nice, especially the toasted sandwiches. The chairs are comfy and the area is light & spacious. My only bug bearer is the tea, it isn’t strong enough for my taste.

Not cheap, coffee tasted burnt. Save yourself some cash and go next door to Costa! No atmosphere. Will not visit again.

Love going here, lovely environment and lovely staff, go here regularly and have new staff, they are great and friendly and willing to help. Love having the Oat Milk Flat white, great that they have alternative milks. Would love to see the Vegan cakes come back, don't seem to have as many.

El servicio que recibes en este café es malo hasta el punto de que de repente entiendes por qué escuchas a la gente decir "Sabes lo que estás recibiendo en Costa". Las tazas de té son diminutas y la comida quemada es un chef especial. Así que cuando yo y mi pareja comimos aquí y me sirvieron una tostada incinerada, naturalmente me quejé. Sin disculpas, sin reemplazo toastie. Sin embargo, un miembro del personal en particular se tomó en serio mi queja, porque cuando volví a visitarla unas semanas más tarde (solo por una taza de té, no pedí comida, no soy estúpido) ella hizo comentarios sarcásticos sobre tostadas quemadas ! ¡Fawlty Towers ni siquiera lo cubre!

Light, roomy, comfy. Super friendly and accommodating staff. Coffee good, plenty vegan+gluten free food (huge choice of cake!). If you buy refill cup and use stamp card also v good value ;) Wall of tables with plugs for laptop and wifi. Lots of books. Also book clubs meet here if interested. Bit baffled by the 1* reviews as have had no issues with service or cinnamon (?) :s Maybe check closing times as it varies with weekday. ,, c[] cheers :)

So slow, they’re not busy, but just seem incapable. Got offered cinnamon on top of my drink, which I like, but dear god, I didn’t want death by cinnamon. The alarm for my toasted sandwich went off about 5 mins before they served it, and they still served it to me, burnt to a crisp! The staff are useless, just wandering around oblivious to everything.

Decided to close early and refused to serve me despite being in the queue and the customer in front being served.

Been in three times now only to be told they've closed half an hour or even an hour early, with no reason given, despite their times stating they're open until 5.30. Why bother displaying opening times when they just make it up as they go along?

Visité el café en un hermoso día otoñal el lunes por la tarde. Era pacíficamente tranquilo y gloriosamente soleado a través de los ventanales. Sé que esto puede ser un lugar bastante bullicioso el fin de semana. Encontré un asiento tranquilo y cómodo junto a la ventana, el café ofrece una pequeña pero atractiva variedad de artículos para un almuerzo ligero. El personal era amable y capaz de aconsejar sobre las opciones de comida vegana disponibles. La comida era deliciosa y bien de precio.

Good shop in orchard square very nice coffee really clean and tidy place.Four tables outside which are great on a sunny day a real sun trap.

Si te gusta libros, lo más probable es que estaremos visitando Waterstones en algún momento. Pero el de arriba cafe resulta ser digno de una visita por derecho propio! La ubicación es estupenda, tienen asientos cómodos en la esquina, el café y el Té son buenas y tienen una muy buena selección de pasteles y pastas locales, muchas de las cuales son también vegetariana o sin gluten!

The selections of sweet treats, the expertly crafted coffee, the hand made sandwiches and tasty frappes find themselves at home in this lovely place. Grab a book, sit down and chill. Love being here.

Buena ubicación y buen ambiente. Sin embargo, el servicio es lento y enredado. El tipo que no podía soportar mi orden de dos cafés, una tarta y un tostado pastel. Muy plana pequeño blanco que, a pesar de pedirlo para garantizar que estaba caliente, era sólo tibia. Realmente no me gustó ser llamado también 'my queridos" en cada oportunidad por el mismo tipo.

The first time I visited this place I wasn't impressed - service seemed slow and the staff disorganised. I thought I'd give them another chance, and I've been back twice now. OK, it's not the fastest, but it's a much nice experience than Costa. They offer you some salad with your sandwich, and it's really good value.

¡Una experiencia horrible. Pedí un frappe como anuncian en varios encerados, sólo para varios miembros de personal a la trampilla alrededor preguntándose cómo lo hacen. Después de ser ignorado por unos 5 minutos nos sugirió que trajeran. Les dije que sentarse fuera. Después de 15 minutos aún no beber, así que regresé para encontrar sentada en un estante. Me dijeron que no sabían donde estaba como los asientos al aire libre no era suyo! Cuando me preguntó por qué no había señalado esto para mí, o venir a encontrarme, la chica era extremadamente rebaño! Mi bebida era terrible y tibia! Horrible servicio al cliente, siendo claramente dirigido por un grupo de adolescentes que no tienen ni idea de lo que está haciendo.

Para mí que combina café y libros es "el paraíso", y este "paraíso" no te decepcionará! El servicio era amable y atento. El café y el té está siempre en'. Siempre es un placer llamar aquí cuando estoy en Sheffield, el ambiente le permite estar relajado o 'optimista' como le gusta.

went as a group of 5, plenty of tables even though it was Remembrance Sunday. Did take a while to get served, but it did when it was Costa and it didn't seem any slower than that. Nice selection of cakes, some gluten free. Coffee was nice and tasty, and a decent size. My 5 year old enjoyed the books on the central column, there is a sign encouraging you to take them to your table and read. Excellent idea for entertaining the kids. Overall, a good effort. Not 5 stars as we had to wait for the drinks (but I've never given any of the big brands 5 stars for the same reason). Well worth a visit though.

This cafe is in a prime location and surely can try harder to provide service and standards in line with that, the staffing is such that no one seems to really know what they are doing, the panini and sandwich fridge is always empty when I go, even if it's only early afternoon. The problem is you end up looking for alternatives which in that area are the big chains! To have a decent,Well staffed independent cafe that can work to the pace and standards that this location demands would be great! Pull your socks up!!

We eagerly awaited the opening of this cafe as we used to go when it was Costa Coffee and enjoyed itWe had a 50% off leaflet so it made it even more excitingWe were truly disappointedThe queue was long and people in it looked fed up and irritated.We joined the end of the queue and soon discovered why.There were 3 people behind a small counter with barely enough room for them to move.Every customer who got to be served -eventually they apologised to.It took ages,my husband took a seat and waited and waited...............for eternity.The service was so slow and painfully so.We were finally served and they had a pitiful selection of cakes,I chose a large cappuccino(that was not large),a cup of tea and a slice of non dairy lemon cake and a piece of Victoria sponge cake.Honestly I think there must have been a competition to see who could cut the thinnest slice of cake!It was laughable.The cakes were both disappointing,lacking in size,flavour and just tasted of pure sugar-horrible.When it came to paying it was a shock to say the least.I paid £2.60 for a large(small) Cappuccino,£1.80 for a pot of tea,and £2.50 for each sliver of cake!!With the 50% discount it came to £4.70 but the full price should have been £9.40!! Atrocious!!It wasn't worth the £4.70.When I got the tray,sorry trays to the table(The trays were too small to hold my order so I needed two!!)my husband thought I was having a laugh,the cake portions were so small!!Also the Victoria sponge was all butter cream and no cake.He left that on the plate and tried the tea,he said it was the worst tea he had ever had,tasteless,,weak and disgusting.My Cappuccino was uninspiring,too strong,not frothy and boring.We left pretty quickly,faster than it had taken us to be served.We left very disappointed,we had high expectations for this cafe experience.The decor is plain,all wood and works canteen looking,there used to be leather seating and more comfortable chairs.The ambiance was non existent and depressing. Waterstones,it was better as Costa coffee and you have a lot to do to make this a vibrant,exciting place to visit.As well as the decor you want to look at the quality of the drinks you have on offer and the quality of the cakes and the embarrassingly small portion sizes for £2.50 a sliver!!We will not be back
