4/8/24 i stayed last night the staff were so friendly nice to talk to and the people who were in for a pint and a game of pool were great all together a nice atmosphere .the room was all i needed very clean and comfortable and very quiet when i went to sleep ,very good value for money i would definitely stay again .thank you so much 10/10. i did not have food .

Zeros stars! No food even on Sunday! No dogs allowed in most of the pub! Due to them not being on their rather grubby carpet! As no seats anywhere else we had to leave. The place had 8 people in and were not accommodating! There were 13 of us on holiday there so they lost a good but of business! Not that I think they’d care as website is shambles. Don’t think this place will last. Avoid and go to The Huntsman.

Apparently they don't serve food.... they need to change the bog board outside which says FOOD !

Lovely place to stay, clean and comfortable. Made to feel very welcome but slightly disappointed they no longer do food. However, lovely couple of days.

I think I found the nicest pub in the UK. (Don't tell anyone so as not to spoil it. It does have a problem with evaporation though; no way I drank that pint that quick !!

We stopped for a beer on way back from Manchester,felt a bit unwelcomed there for some reason.If you just fancy a drink,there is better places to go around

Really unhelpful and stroppy landlady, complete rip off

Stayed for one night in a perfectly good single bedroom with ensuite. The greeting on arrival is what let the venue down for me. "Here's your room, this is some basic information, now I'm off back to the bar". If they'd been more welcoming I would've drank and eaten there too spending money with them, money that I took elsewhere to have a hospitable experience. Shame.

I go in there for beer only. Always pleasant staff

Did not like being accused of causing damage on previous visit it took me 2 minutes+to explain it was not me 😞 will not come back ,got a very weak apologie from the woman running the pub . l spent money at the bar

This is a pretty and popular little pub with great service and delicious food. Staff really friendly too!

Za jeden cider a koktejl (kávový točený z pípy co měl asi 1dcl, jestli vůbec) jsme zaplatili přes deset liber, což mi na to že jsme seděli u hlavní silnice přišlo tedy dost. Možná tam je i nějaká vnitřní zahrádka, ale nikdo nám o ní neřekl. Nicméně obsluha milá a pozorná. Zda se zde vaří nevím, k žádnému jídelnímu ani nápojovému lístku jsme se nedostali.

Absolutely stunning place with scenic walks close by, very helpful staff and a lovely host. The breakfast was smashing. We will definitely be returning again.

Stayed two nights in a single room. Cosey, clean and well furnished room with all I needed at a a very agreeable price. Nice atmosphere in the pub and the staff was very helpful.

Lo que puedo decir aparte de esto es un clásico pub del norte. Nada especial, pero está bien, es una pena que solo sirva comida un domingo.

Friendly staff. Stayed midweek so limited dinner menu. Had pie, chips and peas which was reasonably priced and good. Good beer choice. Room clean and comfortable. Good breakfast.

We called at teatime for a quick drink, it clean ,very nice staff . We didn't eat but there is good available. Will call again.

A great atmosphere, made to feel like a local. Warm fire and a great landlord very helpful. A good pint. My group would give seven stars if we could.

Had a Sunday roast lunch in here today and the meal was at very best average. After a poor looking plate arrived with oil filled roast potatoes it was downhill from there. Pestered by flies all through lunch, then when it came to paying the bill we were refused the use of the Go Compare 2-4-1 offer, even though they clearly advertise on it. So if you like flies in your meal, a take it or leave it atmosphere and maybe average food, then this is the place for you.

The meal and service was excellent good value too.

The food is good, shame the land lady is very rude.....I wouldn’t stay in the B&B as all you can hear is a dog barking after 11pm and before 7am Definitely better pubs round the area with nicer land lords:)

Great, reasonably priced B&B with a lovely pub downstairs. The rooms are clean and comfortable and nothing is too much hassle for the staff here. This is the perfect base for anybody doing a training course at Lavender International, 5 minutes down the road in Penistone.

What else can you say really, there was a great selection of food at very reasonable prices. One of our party is Vegan, and they we able to accommodate them very well. The owners were very welcoming and even Buster came over to say hello. We enjoyed the meal that much, that we went back again, later in the week. We will definitely go back if we are in the area.

The Blacksmith's Arms is cosy and catered for all 12 of us just before Christmas. We pre-ordered our lunch, a mixture of sandwiches, hot food and children's meals and the staff were very friendly.

Stumbled across this lovely little traditional pub while doing an internet search for beef wellington, which this place does to pre-order! However, looking at the reviews we decided to take a Sunday lunch there instead. We were not disappointed. Pre booking a table (recommended) we arrived and were greeted very friendly and shown our table. Word of caution-roast pork is not an option but gammon is-which seems a strange choice to me, but we chose a beef and a roast lamb. Both were served pretty quickly and both were excellent! Beautiful hot food, tasty and well presented and plenty of it too. This is not a gastro pub. Its a family pub serving traditional food in a way that reminds you of proper home cooked food. Well done chef!! We're now looking forward to going again, this time to have our beef wellington......watch this space!

I recently saw an advert in the local free paper, stating this pub had recently been taken over by new management. I have passed the pub lots of times over the years and I must admit I have never been tempted to visit until now. I am not surprised at the experience the previous reviewer had and can only add positively to what they said. I am pleased they have not created a soulless gastropub but a proper traditional country local welcoming to any type of customer, be it local drinkers on foot from the village or diners and visitors alike. The modest size keeps the place cosy, welcoming and friendly. The single bar area has a dining area to the right with generously sized tables and an area to the left more akin to a public bar for the locals. The original décor looks to have been largely retained, but given a good clean and redecoration. Things got off to a good start when Tina, the host, served us a couple of pints of well kept Marston's New World real ale. In fact all the staff were cheerful, welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The family have obviously had plenty of experience running pubs elsewhere. We opted for the three-course Sunday lunch deal at only £12.50 excluding drinks. This was excellent value considering the portions and quality offered. No money was asked for in advance for the food, an increasing rarity nowadays and the food came directly from the kitchen (rather than a carvery where food can become lukewarm). It was a good idea that the FRESH vegetables (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and green beans) were served separately in a large tureen so everyone could help themselves. There was a choice of four meats (I had the topside of beef which was delicious) and all the meals came with roast potatoes, parsnips, mash, Yorkshire pudding, gravy and appropriate trimmings and sauces. Everything was tasty and portions were very generous so is excellent value. Tina even asked us if we would like any more vegetables or gravy. The after dinner mints were a nice (free) touch, which we didn't expect at these prices. We all had smoked haddock fishcakes with sweet chilli sauce, lemon wedge and mixed salad for starter, nicely presented and not too large to spoil the main meal. We all ordered fresh trifle for afters. There is a two course version for £10.95 or main course-only for £7.95. I liked the fact that the management were visible. I overheard Tina discussing a future visit with another family regarding a celebration buffet. She is obviously flexible, open to ideas and works with her customers. It is a virtual certainty that customers will return and I will next try the midweek evening menu which looked very tempting. I am sure this place has a great future. The pub even offers four rooms for overnight stays - I do hope they will offer a 'booze and snooze' package.

A group of us (family),travelled quite a long way to meet another family member for a 21st.birthday meal. We'd never been to The Blacksmiths Arms before................Imagine our amazement at the welcome we received from the host, Tina and her staff........nothing was too much trouble for us , and the service was great, then we got our meals,fantastic,and certainly enough for us...... We have since found out that Tina opened the business in June this year, and if this is an example of her service, she will do well in the future. She has rooms too, and myself and my wife, have decided to return for a stay, as the surrounding area is so picturesque................thanks for looking after us.
