Having just relocated to the village the hare and hounds is our little special place for a relaxed drink after work or a bite to eat, always welcomed by Matt’s smiling face and friendly personality

Lovely Sunday lunch - wonderful quick service and delicious food at a cheap price. Plus one point to Matt’s tally please… !!

We had a lovely meal today. Matt was very attentive and even came and gave our dog a treat. Many thanks- we’ll be back .

We were a large extended family party who needed to eat as soon as we arrived with all the small children. We called ahead to order and the staff were so kind and understanding. As soon as we arrived the food was ready and fresh off the grill. Thank you SO much for your kind service. We love eating with you and look forward to eating with you again soon!!

Do not go here if you want to watch any sport. We checked they were showing the rugby before ordering a drink. When we sat down they changed the channel without so much as an apology. Really disappointing service

The pub was cosy, warm and inviting. I chose the lemon pepper chicken sizzle plate with rice. It was delicious. The staff were friendly and always had a smile and the service was great. Would highly recommend 👌

If you think of a soulless chain , this is it , really poor food , badly cooked , small portions , asked for a baked potato , instead of given a choice told flatley no , we don’t do that , Computer says “ no “ attitude , then became argumentative , escalating the situation , ending in being barred from the establishment, ++++ in response, if you look back at my reviews , every one is fair and constructive, fortunately we now live in a society, where google and tripadvisor, give the public an option of recourse , on balance if you look i have given credit where its due , maybe a career in the service industry isn't for you , i don't blame you i blame the corporations running these frankly sterile souless establishments, i grew up in your industry , i have seen socialite entrepreneurs running privately owned tenancies, to the socially inept offering no love or heart to the business .+++

Well what can I say we had the most fabulous christmas day. The pub managed to accommodate 10 us last minute due to the pub we were booked in cancelling due to being sold. We were in at 12pm which suited us fine. The staff were so attentive and friendly and the food was lovely. The turkey and beef were so succulent and we couldn't want for veg. Overall the whole day was just lovely. I'd like to thank all the staff for working on christmas day and actually looking like they wanted to be there 😅 we've been to places before where this has not been the case. Thank you!!

Great experience every time we visit. Staff make it even better they are all Lovely and helpful. We booked a large party for Christmas Eve and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating to us. The chefs (not sure of their names) were so friendly and welcoming to us all. It’s not the first time we have had a large group and lots of meals (and children) here and it’s always the same great standards. Many thanks

Amazing food and excellent service, nothing was too much trouble. A warm, clean and welcoming atmosphere. Chef Amy made the nicest grilled chicken I have ever had, really nice and tinder and great flavour. All the bar staff and especially the landlady Jenny were absolutely wonderful and very attentive. We've been coming to this pub for many years but mainly for drinks. We had an event here recently with the buffet menu and it was fantastic. The food was great, lots of variety, there was loads of it and the price was more than reasonable even with the top package.

A lovely stop on the way back from the peaks, great outdoor and indoor area with a cosy atmosphere. The staff are so friendly and the food is great, definitely hits the spot. I’d recommend the chicken tikka platter! Great value for money, I’ll definitely be back!

Popped in for quick drink for first time in decades. A damp Tuesday evening. Warm welcome, darts on telly, but it felt shabby, neglected, sticky tables. No quiz nights apparently, maybe 6 customers. .

My server, Mathew was a pleasant and funny host for my table my 6 year old recently turned 6 and he said happy birthday 100% would recommend to anyone unsure of where to eat always a first pick for me now 👍

We came in for a meal after a long day of helping my parents move house. I had my week old baby with us who was due a feed when our food came. Matt was lovely and offered to keep my food under the hot lights until I was ready for it. It was so kind and he kept checking on us and making sure I was okay. He's so friendly a fantastic service we will be back again because of his service.

We had a great evening at The Hare & Hounds. Exceptionally good value for four of us. Fantastic service from Matt and the rest of the team.

It has become an annual post holiday last hurrah for our two families as it never disappoints. (We do come more than once a year!!) Staff are friendly and attentive and the food is amazing value and quality. A firm family favourite. Matt and Claire looked after us so well this evening and Aimee managed to get all 9 meals out at the same time. Throughly recommended.

Local pub filled with local people. Didn't eat food, so can't comment. Drinks were quite expensive at £10 for 2 drinks, but still nicely poured. Background music needed!

We called in on spec. The pub was friendly and inviting and busy. We checked out the menu an decided to "double up" for a small additional charg were given double the fish, double the gammon and double the toppings. We were only expecting g more chips! The food was tasty and well cooked and we both enjoyed it. The atmosphere was relaxed a d friendly and we we spoken to by yhrla lord each time he passed a asked if we needed anything. Great service. So glad we stopped and stayed.will definitely go again.

We moved into the area 5 weeks ago and have eaten here 3 times already. The food is delicious, the service outstanding. Our children (10 & 7) are made to feel so welcome here, nothing is too much trouble. Matt is particulalry awesome! So glad this pub is on our door step.

We recently came up to the Hare and Hounds for food, and wow, was the standard delicious!! Talk about refreshing. I had the sweet chilli chicken with rice and it was like something from a thai restaurant - excellent chillis that were flavoursome but not hot were sliced on top just for colour and flare, it had delicious crispy chicken, the rice was perfect and the veg throughout tasty and bursting with flavour. My husband enjoyed a fantastic inch thick steak that came out sizzling with onions and mushrooms - the fries were great too. Two years or so ago we came and it was average at best but it's undergone a change in management and the manager is really good. It was a busy night when we went in, but they cleared a table specifically for us (a nice booth) and were very welcoming and helpful. Big shout out to the chef who that night, was working in hot kitchen on a 28° day. Can't imagine how hot the kitchen must have got. What an impressive chef. Please put in air con for her, she deserves it, only costs £800 lol, I couldn't see any round the back when I left. 🤣

My family and I visited the Hare and Hounds yesterday, the pub was extremely clean and well presented, which is a credit to the cleaning staff. The bar staff were friendly and gave advice in the menu and how long the food would take. The food was wonderful, lots of choices on the menu. Ollie the staff member who served me was a plesent chap. The food was hot and enjoyable.

It's about 20 years since I was last here (I live locally) and was very surprised by our lack luster experience yesterday. The young man behind the bar could hardly be bothered to come and speak to us, when we asked if it was ok to sit anywhere, and later when ordering food I thought he was very unhelpful. The pub was quite empty for the whole time we were there. As my friend had chosen food which was not available, a young woman came over and explained suitable alternatives and she was brilliant, very friendly and very helpful. The young man seemed to snatch empty glasses and plates from our table and certainly did not return our smiles - what a misery ! The other staff members were friendly and this is a convenient place to meet up for lunch and a chat but we will not be rushing back anytime soon.
