Lovely afternoon tea and the first place not to make me feel awkward or difficult for having a nut allergy. Everyone's afternoon tea was the same as mine and they didn't say well here is your afternoon tea but we can't guarantee no nuts like most other places basically saying it's up to me if I eat it, my risk. The food was delicious and tasty

I brought my friend who has a gluten intolerance to Birdhouse because the menu offered many gluten free options. However it's not explicit that the gluten free pancakes are actually waffles, of which are very small and a bit hard. My friend was really disappointed by this, we've been to many places which provide GF options and the waitress did not make it clear the pancakes ordered would actually be waffles. Not only that but my pancakes were very poor, they tasted heavily of baking powder and it wasn't a great experience overall. I think for spending £30 really it was all style but no substance. Not making it clear with your menu that the GF are an alternative choice is pretty poor. Disappointed as so many people had recommended yourselves but it fell short with both service and taste. The cafe was also very cold. I would say to people seek alternatives, there are so many options in Sheffield. Really disappointed.

Loads of Teas and drinks to choose from. To eat I had the Ham Hock, with poached eggs, and a cup of Kelham island tea. A blend of lapsang and Darjeeling. Good atmosphere and attentive staff. Quite busy for a Sunday morning about 10 o'clock. Would recommend if you're looking for Breakfast or Sunday brunch.

I was recommended to go here. The corn fritters and vegan Benedict were lovely, a bit different for vegetarians. The food took a little while to be served to us. The atmosphere was nice although a little noisy due to no soft furnishings. Well worth a visit, I will definitely go again.

Beautiful place with top class service and delicious food! Fantastic vegan options also! We came for breakfast. The non vegan fry ups were also amazing! I had a vegan eggs Benedict.

Had a pleasant brunch session, presentation of food was appealing, very tasty food, mushroom kale combination was superb, will come back for more. Had the raspberry pistachio cake however it was a little bit too dry to our liking.

Wasn't a great experience to be honest went with a party of ten . Which was booked inn. We had to wait 45 minutes for them to sort themselves out . Then had 45 minutes to order and eat . Had the ham hock they don't know what it is I would guess because it definitely wasn't ham hock it was like some funny stuffing. The staff are nice but was great a great experience. Very upsetting for some of the crew been told to sit outside. Very expensive and very unorganised sorry guys wasn't good

Unfortunately, one member of staff was abrupt and I was told they needed the table back while I still had half a cup of coffee -without even a 5 minute warning? Not even spoken to in apologetic way (especially when service had been slow for the drink) -I totally understand having an alloted slot but having not made the booking it was a surprise to be spoken to like! Previously had good customer service and food is lovely - the waitress let the side down really and put me off recommending the cafe!

Had the Eggs Benedict with Bacon and a Matcha Latte, both were great! Very cute vibe and nice layout. Turned up with a group of 6 without any sort of booking and they still managed to fit us in which was really sweet 🥰 All the food looked amazing and the service was great, food was made very fast!

Was treated to breakfast here and I wasn’t disappointed I had the Eggs Royale and they were perfectly cooked Really enjoyed my breakfast which was a treat for my birthday There seems to be plenty of vegan options No photos this time unfortunately as my phone refused to cooperate 🤷‍♀️

We had a fantastic breakfast here - generous portions, great tasting food (smashed avocado toast with a side of halloumi, pancakes and bacon). Located in a sweet little courtyard.

Brilliant "cafe" a little off the beaten track in the University area of Sheffield. Well worth finding for the different types of tea and coffees along with fantastic food options.

Visited today with my friend and my dog and the food was delicious and the service was superb 👌🏻 bought some tea to take home too!

A lovely quiet cafe for good chat from 2ish to 4ish on a Friday afternoon

Have visited twice now and each time has been excellent. Food and drinks are great quality, fresh and tasty. There’s also a great range of sweet treats at the till. Specials seem to change regularly so there’s always something new to try. Lovley cozy atmosphere and outdoor seating. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Dog friendly. Clean toilets. Recommend the potato rostis and maple latte.

Had the pulled ham hock, disappointed as it wasn’t pulled ham hock it was just packeted ham hock chunks that were quite fatty. The bread was nice but a little dry on the edges. Chips were good and drink was nice just a shame about the sandwich. They’ve also taken their bagels off the menu which is a shame as seeing they sold bagels is what made me come.

I found this place on google and saw it was one of the best brunch places in Sheffield. I went at 9am on Thursday, and was hoping to get food and a bakery item as they looked really good on google. There was only one of each bakery item on display which was quite disappointing. I sat upstairs and waited for someone to take my order. When I got up, someone came and said I’d be seen to shortly. I ordered the Raspberry and Pistachio pancakes and Iced Birdhouse Dirty Chai. While having my brunch, the couple next to me also got up to order, then someone came and took their order. The food was yummy. The pancakes were fluffy and hot. The raspberry compote was fresh and tart with whole raspberries in there too. The crushed pistachios added a nice crunch to the dish and the cream tasted freshly whipped. I think it was different to the cream on the chai. That tasted like squirty cream. Still, the chai was tasty. Not as “dirty” as I would have liked. I expected more sweet cinnamon and coffee flavour but it was more of a regular iced coffee with a little cinnamon and sweetness. Not sure if it’s worth £4.50. I paid at the end. I don’t know what others think about that, but I prefer to pay first then eat and leave. Show your student card and you’ll get a student discount. Overall I really liked this place. The presentation was stunning and the place itself had good vibes and lighting. It’s definitely one of the tastiest brunch places I’ve tried so far in Sheffield.

Very impressive tucked away smarter cafe , effectively feeling like a smaller bistro. Very welcoming service, but knocked out at the decent vegan food choice for breakfast and quality. I had a vgn hollandaise / mushroom brekkie and it was amazing. Next time I'm in these parts will return no doubt.

Hands down my favorite cafe in town! The food is always delicious, and the drinks are top-notch. Whether I’m enjoying the cozy indoor setting or relaxing outside in the courtyard on a beautiful day, the atmosphere is always perfect. The staff are friendly, making every visit a delightful experience. It’s the ideal spot for a meeting or a peaceful solo outing. Highly recommend!

We had a great lunch. Some really interesting meals on their menu. And lots of vegetarian options.

Un artículo de almuerzo y una taza de té llegó a más de £ 17 por persona. No hay muchas opciones más baratas tampoco - todo era aproximadamente el mismo precio.

A very cosy cafe with yummy tea options. I love their tea lattes. I had pancakes and a bakewell fog, very sweet combination! Service lovely, staff very friendly.

Food was lovely, only thing that soured the experience was the redhead waitress being quite condescending/rude with respect to a simple menu clarification. Appreciate it was busy but there was no need for that tone. The rest of the staff, notably the gent on the till, were a delight.

Called on Sunday morning for a coffee and Matcha tea. It was already busy with a calm and friendly atmosphere. We sat outside in the courtyard with plenty of seating. The service was fantastic with great customer service. The coffee was delicious and the matcha tea refreshing. There were plenty of GF and Vegan options on the menu and the quality of food looked impressive. We'll definitely be going back next time for brunch and possibly sit inside.

Such a great place to start the day. The team are all delightful, funny and helpful. Food was delicious and filling. AND they love dogs. Highly recommended

Very delicious food and cosy atmosphere.

This place has a nice atmosphere, is busy and is a charming addition to the otherwise pretty quiet road. Waited absolutely ages for our food. We were sat with a view of the kitchen and I could see food lining up to be taken out but not enough staff to take it out on time. Never seen so much pork on a menu... There is bacon or sausages on literally every single dish. You can obviously opt to have it removed but I just don’t understand why it’s on every dish. If you don’t eat pork and don’t want to be eating processed fake vegan meat then you’re really going to struggle here.

Called today looking for a nice lunch. Very unwelcoming woman who couldn’t manage a smile. Sat for 5 minutes and three different staff came out but non acknowledged or took an order. Walked out not worth giving business to such a rude place.

The food is delicious. The space is large and has a sense of design. Will go again with friends.

It was for late mother's day lunch ..not a place I would have chosen..easy place to find parking just a few minutes away..outside eating too. Inside great we went upstairs nice views .food came fairly quickly, not much on menu's for picki eating..ended up having chips... pancakes were huge far too big there was 4 on one plate . enough to feed 3 people..

Doin a drop off for work in sheffield this mornin and parked up outside here, so called in only for a couple of takeaway coffees for me & workmate, the 2 girls on the counter were really welcomin and polite, a lovely clean place and the brews were beltin. Looks a place i would definately recommend.

Been here before and always been really good food, this time though it just felt like mass produced with no care or love put in. It was a real disappointment, though this is possibly due to it being exceptionally busy and a Saturday. Midweek visits have always been significantly better and worthy of 5 stars

Absolutely lovely food! That bakewell tart drink is one of the best I had. It is not too sweet but has the perfect taste. The pancakes were so fluffy and good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this place!

Amazing that they have gluten free dairy free vegan options!!! It was busy so slightly slow but they managed to fit us in outside so no complaints! Love the super inclusive menu 🩷

Wonderful & excellently presented cuisine

Excellent food, we had the pancakes of the week and the birdhouse breakfast and it was spot on. We'll definitely go again and definitely recommend.

Lovely atmosphere, lovely. All the food coming out the kitchen looked inviting. I love the brunches and the teas are, as expected, great. Our order was delayed but this was dealt with well, and the place was very busy. Recommended.

We went there blindly on a Saturday. Unfortunately during lunch time the place got quite packed so we had to sit outside. Would recommend booking a table in advance for anyone planning to go there. The food and drinks were great no complaints there. All in all, lovely place will definitely be coming back.

I cannot believe this place is not 5 stars!! I’m a regular here and absolutely love birdhouse. The food is always an incredible standard, the different options for dietary requirements are some of the best I’ve ever seen. Only gripe I’ve ever had is when it’s super busy at peak times you can wait up to 45 mins for food! But that’s so understandable as you can tell it’s never rushed and always done with care. I love birdhouse. It’s a such a gem of sheffield

Have been a few times to Birdhouse Tea Bar and Kitchen and the food has always been lovely - the menu has a good range of sweet and savory, vegan, veggie and gluten free options alongside an extensive drinks menu with a large selection of their own teas. This time it was particularly delicious- we got the eggs benedict, crispy bacon and cream cheese bagel (with extra smashed avocado) with slaw and skin on fries, and a side of some of the best halloumi fries we've EVER tasted! For drinks we had iced 'vanilla' matcha lattes (as they had ran out of 'coconut' as advertised on menu) but they were still very delicious (highly recommend)! We had great service today but some members of staff are definitely warmer and friendlier than others, but this didn't take away from the experience - delicious, high quality food and drinks, perfect place for lunch and brunch and will definitely be back! Thank you!

A Delightful Brunch Experience! I visited Birdhouse Tea Bar & Kitchen with my wife for brunch today late morning and it was a fantastic experience! The pancakes were a highlight – fluffy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The breakfast options were diverse, catering to various tastes. We tried Birdhouse Full English breakfast, Raspberry Pancakes with hot chocolate and Carmel latte. The coffee was exceptional, complementing the meal perfectly. The ambiance added to the overall enjoyment; a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that made our meal even more enjoyable. The staff was attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience. At front door receiving lady waitress warm welcoming and patience are highly appreciated. Birdhouse Tea Bar & Kitchen is now one of our a favorite spots for brunch and lunch in Sheffield , and we'll definitely be back for more delightful meals. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable brunch spot with delicious food and a great atmosphere! Easy parking 🅿️

The food and service were good. BUT we sat upstairs at the far end, which must be above the kitchen, and afterwards our clothes, particularly coats and sweaters, literally stank of not very nice cooking fat or oil. I shall be careful not to sit there again.

Lovely food and the coffee was great. The cafe however was very humid and full of condensation and smells from the kitchen, which made the experience unpleasant. One of the guests commented that their eyes were stinging!

Watery hot chocolate. Even after we returned and got a new one it was still watery. Pancakes didn’t come with syrup on the side, instead absolutely swimming in syrup and soggy :(. Also had watercress on top of bacon pancakes? Doesn’t seem like there is much attention to detail. matcha late was okay service wasn’t great either, forgot things and brought alternatives without checking.

Had a lovely brunch on a Sunday Morning here with friends. It wasn’t too busy and food was served fast. Presentation was beautiful and food was delicious. I had lotus biscuit banana pancakes and would highly recommend them. The full breakfast also looked very delicious.

I might be being a little harsh here with the stars because the food and the service were both excellent, but when we left, our clothes, skin and hair, baby's pram, everything, stank of cooking, as though we'd been in a chip shop or greasy spoon café all afternoon. It's such a shame because the place is lovely, and we really enjoyed the food, but put off going back after having to wash and air everything out afterwards. A shame, because technically, deserves more stars.

While visiting Sheffield for my girlfriend's sister's birthday I was told we had to try Birdhouse as last time they went there the vegan pancakes were unforgettable. We had booked a table for brunch and once we arrived we were seated straight away. However that was the last of the great service after waiting 20 minutes and not even being asked if we would like drinks I had to pull someone over and ask if they were going to serve us. If it was busy I could understand but the staff were just stood there chatting to each other. The drinks then arrived with some of them being wrong which we were told was because the girl taking the order was new. Next the food came out. This is where this place shines! The food was delicious! I got the garlic mushrooms on toast with halloumi and crispy kale. The mushrooms were covered in garlic and the kale was crisped perfectly. It was one of the best garlic mushroom dishes I have had. We all agreed the service wasn't great, which they informed me it was like this last time they went as well, however the food well made up for it and I would still recommend trying this place... Unless you're limited on time.

The food was pretty good, but the service is really bad. After we were seated upstairs, we waited ages for someone to take our order. After we realised no one was coming, we tried to get the attention of the passing staff, which in itself was tough as the place was quite busy. We weren't sure how to pay so had the same struggle to ask someone that question. We were directed downstairs to pay, but the staff down there struggled to find our bill, as there are no table numbers to quote when paying. After an awkward loiter by two counters, I couldn't wait to pay up and leave. The food was nice but it's not worth being made to feel like you're invisible.

Birdhouse is lovely but the only problem is that I wanted to pay buy cash & I was told it’s cashless for that reason I won’t be returning. I wasn’t told it was cashless.. so when I went to the till I tried to pay with cash. I was told no. So it was a good job I brought a card with me. I will always avoid places that only take cards. So you’ve lost my custom.. my friends & family won’t be going. BRING BACK CASH!!! And give customers the option.. make a sign outside on the door coming in so we know we have an option. Cash or card. DISAPPOINTING PLACE.

A charming place that we’ve been to multiple times over the past few years. Lovely vegan options & friendly staff. But have noticed a drop in service quality unfortunately. I assume as the word has spread positively, the experience is suffering. To begin with staff were so lovely and smiley but last few visits we have felt like a burden even being there, a few mildy rude communications, it’s become insanely loud inside with poorly spaced tables, and often if you’re sat in the wrong place you’ll be blinded by the sun (I understand loudness and the sun is not Birdhouses fault). I think unfortunately, they are struggling to cater to the customers when it’s busy, up to 45 minutes wait time for food is more frequent. It is a lovely place and the food quality is a solid 8/10. But a mixture of different things have really dropped Birdhouse down. I hope it goes back to how it was before!

Ordered the English breakfast, it's a shame there's only one sausage, but that's okay because there's quite a bit of everything else. The eggs were unfortunately not runny, and tasted a bit sour like vinegar. The hash browns were nice though. They should consider hiring a few more people to improve the service. Especially with the layout of the building, having to go up and down stairs. There was queue to pay as well as a queue to wait to be seated, and two queues were all gathered at the entrance, making it harder for the servers to get behind the till to take payment, or get to the drinks to serve the customers. There should be a better system, or have a member of staff available downstairs telling people where to wait.

We had a bit of a wait for a table but it was well worth it. Really great vegetarian options. Two of us had the Vegan Benedict and it was absolutely stunning. Definitely will be back again!

Came on a quiet Monday morning for breakfast and was not disappointed. Friendly service and really delicious food and drink. Would definitely come back next time I’m in Sheffield to try the hot chocolate. They also have a shop with lots of teas and food products for sale which was very tempting!

The service was quite cold and the wait for food and drink was a little excessive taking 50min for drinks to arrive and over an hour for food. We weren't sure what the problem was concerning the wait as there was no check back or updates until things started to arrive.. The food however ended up being pretty good, unfortunately though it was not quite special enough to make up for the other issues. All in, this was a shame and I assume prehaps the problems must have been due to some sort of absence in the kitchen or simply a bad service as this place had been recommended highly to us .

ambience was great however service was a bit slow.

Overpriced, poor quality. Had sweetcorn fritters. Overfried so hard n dry. Barely a smear of avocado, 8 black beens placed under fritter. Salsa was ok but insufficient quantity to moisturise the fritters. Save your pennies. And inadequate loos.

The vegetarian breakfast was good but I would say it could have done with an extra sausage. The pancakes were some of the best pancakes I have ever tried and I wish I ordered them for myself! I highly recommend the pancakes - they were very fluffy. The iced coffee also came with cream which I thought was a bit odd as it wasn’t mentioned on the menu and I wasn’t asked if I wanted it either so it tasted a bit odd to me. I would definitely come back.

I've been buying Birdhouse tea for the past 3 or 4 years and I genuinely don't think it can be beaten on flavour or interesting blends! I've never had a dud out of all the varieties I've tried (even the fruit teas, which can often be weak and underwhelming from other brands). The Christmas flavours especially are a tradition in our house now. The cafe is also fabulous, and somewhere I always try to take visiting friends. Great veggie/vegan options, really reasonably priced, and often interesting flavours you won't get elsewhere - the pancakes are especially good!

Visited here as was looking for somewhere dog friendly. We didn't have a table booked so couldn't be seated inside but manged to get a bench outside. The benches had parasols to keep you nice and dry as it was a bit drizzly. Service was excellent, staff were lovely and lots of fluffy friends! Only negative was the poached eggs tasted slightly vinegar-y (possibly how they were cooked). Would definitely come back!

The best birthday brunch ever! We picked here due to them having plenty of options for both vegan/meat-eaters. Everything was perfect. The vegan options were unique, flavours spot on. The tea is wonderful, staff lovely! We had a fab time

Delicious food and nice service. A little on the more expensive side, but worth it. Update on my review, food is always on point and the coffee is fab. The outdoor seating is a lovely option for people who want to sit out in the open air.

Absolute gem, beautiful place, fab. interior and terrace. that catches the sun. Food, lovely mix of flavours, good size. The girls serving...mmm..depends who, I've gone several times and had all sorts. Pity, service, is not why I keep returning or reason to recommend it.

Settings - If you want a quiet place then I suggest you sit outside (average 95 decibles whilst sat inside) Food - don't expect fast food...Every chef should how to cook a pouched egg for eggs benedic.. unfortunately the chef did not & the eggs where over cooked with very little hollandaise sauce.. Overall disappointed

Love the food vibe and staff no complaints . Been here twice . Saddly I won’t be returning because they don’t accept cash Cashless society is very dangerous - taking away our last bit of freedom Every-time you pay by card a percentage is given to the bank E.g £20 card 2% charge that 2p goes to then banker the cafe gets £19.98 then he’s buys something with card again charged 2% again the shop keeps £19.58 then he buys something and the money devalues more and more while the banker gets richer . There money never comes back to us unless it’s in the form of control and wars! You spend £20 the cash stays the same for cafe , then you get a car wash £20 the car wash guy keeps the money he gets a hair cut £20 the money is always £20 and circulates between us! Cash is king sorry but all business must e aware. I understand they think they are making life easier and quicker and it’s the way of the future yes a fascist future!

This is the first time that my mum and I have been to the Birdhouse Tea Company. OMG, the food is amazing, and the service was excellent. I'll definitely be coming back and highly recommend.
