I don't usually leave reviews but I had such a good day. The food is out of this world. The service was very good, and all the staff were friendly and efficient. The views were beautiful. I could have stayed all day, the whole family [ ranging from 4 years to 65 years of age] enjoyed the whole experience. I will be going as often as possible. Fully recommend this cafe.

Fort Victoria itself is beautiful. Such a shame the same cannot be said for Cafe Verdi. Staff genuinely do not know what is going on, the ordering process was absolute chaos. The staff just didn’t seem to understand what was on their own menu. Wrong orders delivered, had to chase our crab sandwich down from a nearby table…we even had to remind the staff member we had to pay at the tills. It could have been a very cheap meal indeed if we were not so honest! The staff were pleasant enough and the food was actually ok, although very overpriced for what is really reheated meat. I think a picnic will be brought for our next visit.

Lovely area, wish I could say the same about the coffee... I arrived in the afternoon so maybe that was the reason it tasted burnt and overstewed from sitting in the machine all morning. On my own with my dog, he's only little but it was demanded I leave him outside and not let him in the doorway for the few seconds it took to order. Would have thought it'd be pet friendly as lots of dog walkers here.

Stopped here as our first stop on arrival on the Isle. Wanted a sandwich for lunch and at about 1.30 pm didn't think it would be too busy. Ordered two sandwiches and were told it would be provided shortly - there was one person's order in front of us. The staff seemed too busy to bother with us, and we felt everything seemed like too much trouble. It took nearly 25 minutes to arrive and was fine but later my wife suffered very severe stomach problems from either this meal or a later meal eaten elsewhere. Wouldn't bother to call again which is a pity since it is a beautiful setting on the Solent coastline.

Weather was lovely, views as always were lovely and I saw a cuttlefish swimming around just off the beach in the lovely clean seawater. We had never used the cafe before but certainly will again when we're next on the island. It is a fairly no frills menu and that is just fine because there are few things nicer than simple items done well. Here they are done very well indeed. The staff were lovely and everything we had was very nice. There was a bit of a wait but they are down on staff at the moment (who isn't in the weird modern world?).To be honest, sitting in the sunshine watching the solent boat traffic go by is no hardship.

We most recently visited Café Verdi after completing a circular walk out and back from Fort Victoria via Yarmouth, Golden Hill fort and Colwell Bay. The café is located in one of the old casemates at the former coastal defence ‘Fort Victoria’ and there is much more to see here as well. There is ample (free) parking here for visitors and the public buses also call nearby including the excellent ‘Island Coaster’ service. The café is located inside a brick arched ‘casemate’ and has both inside and outside seating to suit the weather conditions. We usually sit outside on the grassed area overlooking the western Solent where the visitor may enjoy their drinks and snacks and admire the views over the water and across to the mainland. The large grassed area also gives a good place for younger children to play and seems quite popular. We usually stop off for a cup of coffee and a snack here but it is possible to get other more substantial meals here as well. On the day of our visit (early Sunday afternoon), the lady who served here was friendly and passed the time of day with her customers.A convenient café to use if you are passing in the area or are visiting the ‘Fort Victoria’ attractions with a marvellous view.

We enjoyd a tasty breakfast here. The quality of the food was pretty good and it was all cooked nicely. It was not the biggest breakfast I have ever had for around £7.50 but the views are amazing and so it was good value for money for that reason. The home made cakes were truly amazing - real works of art. The pasties were freshly baked and large and crispy as they should be.The service was friendly and prompt and had a very warm family run business feel. There is ways something happening on the narrow stretch of water between the Island and the mainland here - the shortest 'gap' and only around 1 mile wide. So there is ways something to watch - boats large and small fighting against the tides which are very strong for several hours every day as the water from the Solent is forced between this narrow gap.The views are stunning and it's well worth a visit. There is a large grass area for the kids to run around while you sit and watch them. And a small beach ideal for playing and paddling but not ideal for swimming due to the strong current at times. There are also nice woodland walks that start from here. With plenty of free parking, this place is a must visit to relax and watch the world go by on the sea.

What a dirty, dingy cafe. I have to have a gluten, fat and dairy free diet. One of the finest things about the IOW is practically everywhere will cater for my diet with the freshest most delicious recipes. Not so Cafe Verdi. Let’s put aside its lack of cleanliness with bird poop on the outdoor tables and smell of weeks old fat. It’s the ONLY CAFE in Fort Victoria and we needed refreshment. I ordered a tea but there wasn’t any dairy free milk or soya...herbal? No! Still squash? No!. Fresh juice? No! Water will have to do. Gluten free bread? Yes! Marvelous so I ordered a tuna sandwich without butter. In all this I’ve been polite and respectful, I don’t expect anywhere to cater for me...in fact in London it’s practically non existent so I was delighted to be getting some lunch. A woman tromped to my table with the food and practically threw it down. She turned around immediately to tromp off with the parting phrase in the title of this review. What on earth is a cafe doing serving stale bread. Why didn’t they come up to me and say our bread is not the best but it’s all we have, would you like us to toast it? Result...no more bread left...I was left hungry and gave it to the seagulls over the glorious view from the porch. Fort Victoria needs a competitive Cafe. On top of that, it was the most expensive eats on IOW. My friends Earl Grey was weak and tasteless so the cheapest ingredients were used. His prawn and mayo baguette was alright but 1 tea and

I live locally and we often visit Fort Victoria to walk the dog and enjoy the scenery. This week on Sunday we wanted an ice cream. There only seemed to be one member of staff serving on the counter, which was bad as it would have been their busiest time for visitors and locals. I waited by the ice cream counter. The woman was serving 4 men having breakfasts, who paid individually. She was extremely slow. After I had waited for several minutes more people came in to join the queue for food. She knew I was there...BUT when the breakfast men had left the counter she served the couple who had just arrived. So I left and we got an ice cream elsewhere. On another occasion when we had tea I wasn't allowed a teaspoon to stir my sugar. I had to use a wooden stick, because it was boss's orders. Wooden sticks don't stir properly. Next time we want something at Fort Victoria we will go to the other cafe.

Despite being busy, we found a clean, empty table and set about deciding on food. As we all like seafood we decided on Prawn Baguettes and Crab Sandwiches. When our waitress delivered them a few minutes later we could see how well filled the Baguettes and Sandwiches were, along with side salad, crisps and lemon wedge and all beautifully presented. Needless to say, the food was delicious, and priced in line line with similar establishments. The staff were helpful and pleasant, so well done to Brenda and her girls. You may find cheaper food on the Island, but I doubt you will find better.

I stopped for Breakfast in what is lovely spot being within the old Fort Victoria Gun Emplacement, and sat out in the Sun with a glorious view over the Solent to Hurst Castle.

The range and quality of food and drink is very good, especially for such a small establishment. My wife rated the Carrot Cake as one of the best she has tasted, and she makes an excellent one herself. However, it was closing at 3pm the time we were there, so get there early.

Lovely lunch here today - our first visit after frequently passing by on the way to Yarmouth. Plenty of choice on the menu, very generous portions - I had Coronation chicken jacket potato, delicious addition of walnuts, & bowl of salad on the side, Hubby had cheese omelette with chips & salad. Short wait as all cooked fresh but worth it. Plenty of seating outside to watch the fishermen, small boats & view over to Yarmouth harbour. Cakes looked good but too stuffed to try them today - will definitely come back for them another day

Well.. it's a cafe. Part of the old lookout post/military history.. so the old brickwork and arches have a charm.. but also make it slightly small or at least feel small.

I know this was a busy bank holiday weekend but the uncleanliness of this cafe came as a shock. Tables were piled high with tray loads of dirty crockery and left over food. There was even a number of trays plied up with left overs on the floor around the entrance to the cafe. Customers had trouble finding a place to sit that was clean. Staff seemed totally unaware of the problem. They were in fact laughing and joking with each other inside the cafe. The cakes and ice cream were nothing special and it is not a place I will visit again in a hurry. Such a shame as the setting was beautiful.

Have visited on several occasions however this time I found the staff rude, we had a 50 min wait for baguettes and ended up with a brown salad which had probably been sat waiting on my plate as long as I had been waiting.

I don't usually bother to leave negative reviews but was really frustrated with this place and didn't want others with young children to experience the same. The cafe doesn't seem overly clean and the highchair for my daughter was slick with grease. We ordered a ploughmans, a cheese melt and fishfingers and smiley faces. The wait was 40mins, which was painful with a two year old. The mustard sachets in the basket we're all out of date. I went to chase the food and found the assistant a bit off. Whe. The food came it was fine, but the whole experience was just frustrating. Such a shame as this place has the most incredible views but is sadly little more than a greasy spoon :-(

Very spacious and interesting pub! Lots of people were queuing at the bar, but it's quicker to find a table and order with the Wetherspoon app. I didn't eat here so I can't comment, but I'm sure it would've been the same good quality that you get at any Spoons.

Big coffee shop with lots of customers but only 2 girls to serve and clear up and one girl out back. All the empty tables were covered in rubbish and dirty cups and plates, and the toilets were horrific as they clearly don't have the staff to keep the place clean or clear tables.

I’d like to think we were just unlucky but we sat in an area with 3 other tables and all were unhappy ranging from over priced, to poor service, to small portions (the man on the next table had 9 chips with his fish and chips at £18). For our experience, we booked for 18.45 and were told they needed the table for 2020 which was fine. We ordered at 1850, drinks arrived 15 mins later followed by the starter nearly 45 mins later. We got our mains an hour after the order in and the vegetables were cold. We were given replacement veg but by this time we had finished our meal. My wife ordered plaice and I would say it was the smallest I have ever seen severed (they should be put back at less than 270mm long) and this one might just have hit the limit. Whilst the manager made some adjustment to the bill to compensate, it was too little too late. In summary, poor service and very poor value for money
