Fantastic service great atmosphere and lovely food. We had an exceptional welcome from Syed front of house friendly helpful very organised fantastic beard and mustache and then excellent table service from Vela, friendly, efficient and fast. Can't fault this restaurant good vegan options too!!

We’re staying at the hotel so we were a sort of captive audience. The other restaurants were very busy or too fancy. We had a pizza, salad, and a chicken dish. The food was pretty good. The server was friendly and helpful. I would have rated it with 4 stars but I had to subtract a 12.5% service charge.

Samim our waiter was fantastic , my wife is a celiac and he personally checked with the chef to make sure All the ingredients were going to be fine . She had the Thai red curry and it was fantastic , the flavours and spices were great . samim came over once it had been delivered to make sure we were happy , a very nice waiter and nothing was to much trouble .

The food was good but the service from Lara was excellent and made our dinner even more enjoyable. Everything she suggested from food, wine to desserts was all spot on and delicious. Thank you Lara for your service. Keep up the good work! We will be back again.

Weird restaurant. Carbonara was drenched in oil and made me feel physically sick - baring in my it was £20 and a Michelin star restaurant wouldnt charge that much!. No flavour in it apart from the salty pancetta. Didn’t offer me another meal when I said i was unhappy with the food -only offered a dessert. Didn't take the carbonara off the bill. My partners starter was calamari which tasted revolting.

Service was very slow. We stood for longer than expected to be seated, no one greeted us despite multiple staff members walking past. Our orders were taken and drinks were very slow. We did not enjoy our meals at all. The fish was okay but it came with fries. There was nothing special about it and was not worth the money. The meat pizza was tastless; the tomato base topping had no flavour, it came with chicken cubes which were formed, cheap and nasty. The pizza seemed to have been frozen and the base was hard. The menu online is completely different to the menu at the resturant and the prices are significantly more expensive (£14.95 vs £21 for the fish and chips). The tables were all crammed in and close together. We asked for the 10% service charge to be removed from the bill due to the quality of the food. The waiter made a noise at us and did not offer any kind of apology. It felt like she was used to people being dissapointed and she wasn't shocked herself. You'd be better off eating at the Premier Inn next door as there was nothing classy about this resturant either.

The service in the restaurant was very good and friendly We had a good meal here, which we enjoyed, as part of our stay at the Sofitel. If you have got the meal as part of a package with your booking, make sure you get a voucher for the meal when you check in as we had to go back to reception to get ours. Drinks are expensive. Because of the nature of the hotel we expected to pay over the odds but got a bit of a shock when the bill came and 12.5% service charge had been added. This meant that a large Pinot Grigio cost over £12!

Eat here before flying out and on return while staying at The Sofitel. We just had a one bowl dish but it was tasty and suficient and not unreasonably priced given we were given a 10% discount as I understood it because we were staying in a superior room. The glasses of wine were a tad expensive but they were very good.

Worst food i have ever eaten, raw uncooked and cold. My Partner had the steak it came out well not medium like he asked, so we sent it back, when it came out again it was ok, not very standard this place shouldn't be in a hotel as upmarket as this. I had salmon i didnt realize till i got to the middle of the salmon it was Raw, the rice was cold and the chips were soggy. The staff are moody and dont even smile, then they made us the service charge on the bill, I thought you had didnt have to pay service charge if the meal was poor. The staff here need to go on a holiday or something and learn about customer service. I will be emailing this place to get a refund no one even said sorry for the poor meals and bad service, this place is a dive

What a pleasurable dining experience with Alessia as my waitress. She was such a delight and so kind. The food was very good and the location is perfect to enjoy a lunch, quick drink or dinner while waiting for a flight or staying in the Sofitel. Thank you Alessia!

We had to eat here, not out of choice but we couldn't get a table in the restaurants. The menu is very limited and we would have had better quality food and service in Wetherspoons!

We ate here because it wasn't as formal as the other restaurants and going on a cruise we didn't want a huge meal, it was very good and just what we wanted!

Very poor tasting food considering the price and location pizza was an unusual non pizza tasting pizza and the mussels were I'm sure just served in Heinz tomato soup

We ate as a couple whilst staying at the Sofitel Service was good, attentive and fast I ordered the Thai Green curry which was really nice and was a large portion, lots of chicken. My wife had Carbonara which she also enjoyed They had a good selection of bottled real ales They do add on 12.5% service charge but it was pretty good service I would recommend this restaurant

We’d eaten here a couple of times before while staying at the Sofitel. This time we had a deal with our overnight stay and parking for the week which basically paid for a couple of courses from the menu of the day for the two of us or could be used towards overall cost of our bill. Waited a while for a table as it was a busy Friday evening but had a beer in the bar while waiting. Service was quick enough and pretty friendly and efficient. Food was good and there’s a decent choice of draught and bottled beers to be had. Overall enjoyed our meal and wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again.

We had supper at the Urban Cafe this evening and while the food was good, the service was really poor and slow. The staff seemed to favouring the airline crew over ‘normal’ customers taking care of them first even though they sat down after us. It took 25 minutes for our drink order to be taken even though staff members promised to see us next.

Always use this for dinner,when we arrive at the Sofitel. The staff are always pleasant and professional and their burgers are delicious. This time, we had fish and chips, which was lovely.

We had a meal in this cafe, really good choice and the food quality is excellent, it's on cheap when you think they call it a cafe, but you have to remember where you are and in comparison to other gatwick hotel food places, a joy

Lovely evening meal before early flight tomorrow. Menu has good selection of meals. Varied drink list as well as food menu.

We were staying at the hotel before an early flight the next morning and ate here. Food was okay but poor value for money and the service just terrible. Took ages to have our plates cleared and then after two or more attempts at asking the bill took 20-25 minutes to arrive.

We came down to dinner at 9:20pm and the host told us there were no seats available even though we saw about 4 tables empty. We were directed to the terrace to have a drink while we waited.

We had a family meal at the Urban Cafe the night before our flight to Orlando, service was good and the food was good quality

Food is good,but the service is bad, the waitress service me who is never smile. Looks she really doesn’t want to work in the hotel, when you see her,you feel freezing,because she is iceberg, lol, I am not exaggerate,but the dish is good, the salad is delicious, grilled chicken inside is very nice.

We stopped off here for a quick bite, having arrived at the hotel just a few minutes before. Food was freshly cooked and well presented. Waitress was lovely. Very friendly. Took a while to pay - because she was attending to a lady who had fallen nearby - we didn't mind!

As said in last review, we have stayed in this hotel over 20 times as we have rarely had any problems with it. The Urban Cafe is really nice. The food is perfect especially after a flight and a day of travelling. It is basic food and tastes amazing. My only complaint is that you have to have an adults meal if you’re over 13 or 14. My daughter is 14 and would never manage a adults meal and a child’s meal is perfect however she was not allowed a child’s menu due to her age. The adults menu is a bit posh and she wouldn’t eat much off it. I think that anybody under the age of 16 should be allowed the children’s menu. The restaurant is almost always full and so service is slow when it’s busy however that is understandable due to it being the most popular restaurant. Overall I think that it is a really good restaurant and the food is of the highest of quality. 100% recommend.

Nice food, great service - although shocked to see a hefty twelve and a half percent service charge added to our table of seven people (four of whom were kids). OK, so you can ask them to take off the service charge, but who wants to start their holiday or end their meal on a sour note? I would happily tip the standard ten percent but don't like being forced to give a tip - especially not two and a half percent above the standard.

The quality of the food is very good but the service is really poor. Even if with few people and plenty of waiters you have to wait ages to order and to get food or drinks. The funny thing is that they charge you automatically 12% service on the bill. Sorry but it’s not fair.

For our final night we all had the fish and chips, the food was lovely, it was cooked very well, the restaurant is small and when it get busy you may have to wait. The only thing I will say is that this restaurant needs more staff when it gets busy, it took a while to get the bill and that automatically added the service charge of 12%, we did ask them to remove this as it was too expensive for the wait.

We came there on Saturday straight after our flight ! It was the new menu launch too so we were excited to try some of the new creations my girlfriend had the ramen noodles which was packed with alot of flavour and I had the buttermilk chicken which was amazing couldn't fault it at all ! The kitchen team has to take all the credit creating such amazing dishes !

My husband and I had the haddock in breadcrumbs and chips, he had a 330ml bottle of Peroni and I had a 250ml glass of Zinfandel, I knew it was going to be extortionate but we were tired and hungry from our flight and were willing to pay it £54.79 however because we fly from Gatwick every year to go on holiday we remember the meal being of much better quality than the meal we had tonight so if I were you I’d try the food in the airport because we will from now on. The staff are fine though

My husband and I ordered a pasta and pizza here and it was really below average- very bland and seemed cooked from frozen.

Light snack of chicken club sandwich looked enormous but actually was just right portion. Very friendly and helpful waitress and staff and quick and efficient service.

Booked as part of a package, prepaid. We had a long wait for a table and then for our food and were not impressed by the price or the menu choices. It was a dissapointing start to our holiday.

Service was fast and server very pleasant. Food was good and the best value for money when staying in the Sofitel. Chocolate mousse was lovely. As most people are heading away on holidays the dress is very casual.

Had a very nice evening meal on our stay here was freshly cooked and came quite quick as they was quite busy will use it again if we travel from Gatwick again in the future

Our group of six ate here before our skiing holiday. Food was good and service was very acceptable. All in very good value for money especially including parking. Would definitely do again. Special shout out to our waiter Marius who was very attentive.

Having booked this as part of a deal with park and stay I probably wouldn’t do this again . Gluten free meal I ordered was nice but the starter described as salad wasn’t what I expected a few slices of tomato with 5 balls of cheese on was a bit stingy. 2 drinks at £14 was a bit pricey overall I’d say average at best

We stayed overnight at LGW Sofitel and had pre-booked the meal deal along with the room which gave us £25 per head to spend and able to choose from the set or other menu.

Ok if you are staying at the hotel. There's plenty of choice to eat at the hotel - this is the cheapest by far, and still not cheap!.

We stayed at the Sofitel Gatwick in the lead up to Christmas 2018. We turned up to eat at the Urban restaurant early and got seated quickly. It is a bit of a production line there. They are quick to take the order slow to bring the food The food wasn't of a good standard , the Chicken dish my husband ate was very dry as though it had been reheated!! What you do need to watch is the hidden (and not very well mentioned 22% service charge) added to the bill, which, unless you scrutinise the bill you will end up paying without realising it. This should be mentioned on the menu CLEARLY given you the option to query it.

Afternoon snack. Slow service, food when it came was not hot enough and add massive service charge to the bill. Shame because this hotel should be so much better as part of the Accor hotels group.

Read other reviews and panicked about being busy so went down at 5pm and there was no wait for a table. Park and fly dinner package was outstanding food, 2 course meal. Service was perfectly timed. By far one of the nicest meals I have ever enjoyed.

For a menu that is below par for a pub the service is very slow and food mediocre. Pitty that options for the North Terminal are so limited.

The Urban Café in the Sofitel London Gatwick caught our eye with its slightly different and interesting looking menu. The food was particularly tasty and well presented and the price was mid range.

Lovely meal, quite sort of basic fayre but good and wholesome and the service was excellent (My wife had scratched her hand - the waitress noticed and went to the trouble of going to find a plaster for her)

Chose here as it was a little more casual with 2 children in tow. The 7 of us were seen to promptly and we had a wonderful waiter called Marius. Food was really good, even my dad loved it and he normally complains a lot . Thank you Urban for a great evening with fabulous service.

Waited 45 minutes to be seated using a buzzer system. This was acceptable as we hadn’t booked. Once in, food and drinks were lovely. Shame about the service. Long wait for our order to be taken. We had to ask for the dessert menu; if we hadn’t we might still be waiting. Those around us received even worse service - seems insufficient staff and/or poor communication let the place down! Could do better.

Not able to book but wait time was short and we didn't get a chance to order drinks in the bar. Food OK and plentiful and staff friendly and helpful. Somewhat noisy though. Prices are top end(ish) so be prepared.

You cant book for a table here so its first come first served but if they're busy they provide you with a pager whilst you go and have a drink in the bar. Once a table becomes available for you, your pager buzzes to let you know so you can make your way down.

Just had Dinner here, I fully understand the Drink pricing in Airport Hotels. BUT this one really pushes the limit ! Service very slow, staff not motivated, food eventually arrived.

No worries here, we had a very friendly waiter who took our order and delivered sandwiches and drinks to our table in a very short time. The ham sandwich comes highly recommended.

Three of us ate here, the service was good, we had a young trainee waitress who was polite and friendly (Alia) i think her name was. We had pizza, Salad and Creme Brulee, which was lovely.

Lovely food (green curry and Jamaican beef were delicious!) and very attentive service from Istvan, Jagan and Alia. Couldn't have had a better start to the holiday!

My friend and I ate at La Terrasse Bar and Lounge. I ordered the linguine cacciatore and she ordered chips and salad. My linguine came with tomatoes, basil, and artichokes. The tomatoes were okay - small cherry tomatoes. The artichokes tasted of the tinned cans they must have come in. The basil had little flavor. The pasta itself was almost overcooked. Even with parmesan added it had little flavor. So after eating *just enough* to dull my hunger, I pushed it aside. It really was that bad. My friend found the salad acceptable but with little flavor and the chips uninteresting. On the NIH scale, where 5 is average, 1 is best, and 9 is worst, she gave it a 7. I think I agree, but my evaluation is perhaps even closer to an 8. The service was slow, too, even though the waitress was perfectly pleasant.

Staff are simply appalling uncaring, unable to explain their practices. No opportunity to book a table and no information about busy hours, makes things extremely difficult to plan evening. Unclear guidance about waiting time is simply unacceptable.

We were staying at The Premier Inn as part of a stay and park package, and thought the restaurants within The Sofitel would be of a higher standard.

I Think Urban Cafe is located in the Sofitel Gatwick.Its inside but feels outside.my son had Mussels and he liked it.my wife had spicy chicken and it could be better.I had pasta de fungi and it was ok.The wine i had taste good and my wife red wine aswell.We har Good service by Jagan who took Good care of us

Beim Stopover im Sofitel am Mittag für was kleines vorbei geschaut. Ambiente und Karte ok, Qualität leider nicht. Ramen bestand quasi aus Wasser und nicht viel mehr. Das Huhn das eine ganze Brust sein sollte (extra vor dem bestellen noch mal nachgefragt) war ein vor gebratenes mini Schnitzel das aufgewärmt wurde. Auf Nachfrage haben wir zwar Sojasauce bekommen, Chilly oder sonnst was scharfes gab es in der Küche leider nicht.

Stayed for 1 night in the Sofitel and this Restaurant was given as an option with our package. Location was ground floor of the Hotel, open plan and very light and airy but the food was average. An abridge menuoffered under the package - but you could add on. The soup was very peppery and even though I complained and asked for more bread to take the taste away I was not offered an alternative (left mor than half of the soup). Service was a little slow. Probably would eat in the North Terminal in future

Had to wait about 35 mins for a table, but had a drink in the bar and they give you one of those electric notifications things that let you know when the table is ready. Food was OK, pretty average fare.

Wonderful bar/cafe/Restaurant in sofitel hotel that has a very open feel to it and with lots of seating and space. Really good place to come and wait for your flight or to relax.

Decided to eat here whilst staying at the hotel. Some nice choices on the menu. My duck was beautifully cooked and presented. Service was good but a little slow, but I wasn’t in any hurry. Average prices for a hotel restaurant. Less busy than the podium level. Really pleasant.

Good food, good price and excellent staff, especially the Spanish Rebeca helping with good recommendations and always smiling. That is the reason why we spent the evenings there.

This is a very good hotel cafe/restaurant there is an interesting and varied selection of food on offer, the confit duck leg was delicious and the creme brulee was basic but one of the best I have had. Drinks are overpriced, the food is a little pricey, but the good service and decent food is well worth paying for as there is not much else on offer before security. I was staying at the Hampton and it was only a short walk across to the Sofitel

There is a good choice on the menu from a snack to something more substantial.Klaus is always very efficient and helpful. On my visit today he was assisted by Barbara who was also brilliant.

We had a one night stay over at the Soffitel Hotel. My wife and I checked in and that was also a seamless experience. We then went down to have some dinner. Eva greeted us and was also our server. She was fantastic and funny. After many days in Italy she capped our trip off wonderfully. The food was also good and served promptly. This cafe is situated in the atrium of the Sofitel, although you sit higher than the atrium itself, still retain the view of the whole atrium area, which is generally busy. I find the staff extremely helpful and a credit to the hotel. The food is a cafe type easy dining which suits me for that time of day and of a quality I like, I recommend.

We visit this cafe normally twice a year and it has always been efficient. It was a bit slow as they could not find a specific menu that is used by people that have purchased a meal deal on holiday extras. Overall the burger was o.k. the strogonoff beef was a bit dry which was offset by the sauce. Perhaps this was just a bad evening. Otherwise the standard was not as good ad it used to be.

We booked a two course meal with our hotel booking via Holiday Extras. First views of the Urban Cafe wasn't that impressive. There was a set menu we could order from or if we wanted to order from the a la carte we could pay the extra. Hubby and I both ordered the beef stroganoff. Kids had pizza and salmon. All the main courses were fantastic. I also ordered the crime brûlée after seeing good reviews on here. Fantastic. Kids had kids ice lolly. Staff were wonderful and apologetic when my sons meal was late out. But of celebrity spotting took place too!
