I would say that’s the best coffee I’ve ever been. They are doing everything with last touched detail. Highly recommend! Definitely will go again

Actually been to this cafe quite a few times as options in Tadley are limited. I usually just have a breakfast. Cannot fault the way the food is cooked and the good products they use, even though it is a tad over priced. However, on my last visit I decided to get a burger. I asked if it came with chips. And this us the reason for the 3 stars. At nearly £10 for the burger, to find it didn't come with chips meant that it lost value. This is just a cafe, much like Poppins, and the pricing means this is not good value for money even though the food is nice.

We were planning to have breakfast at a local garden centre, but there was a huge queue and by the time we got to the front they'd decided to stop serving breakfasts. Rather than give up, I looked on Google Maps for somewhere else nearby and Café Retreat came up. We were so glad it did! The cafe is clean and modern, with an intimate feel. Despite being extremely busy, which we took as a good sign, we were seated quickly and served by a friendly and efficient team. The menu was very varied, with strong Turkish and Mexican influences. Our food arrived quickly and was fabulous! I particularly enjoyed their sausages, which were the best I've had in a cafe! We actually spent about the same as we would have done in the garden centre, which was very good value as we actually had a two foot one voucher for that - so Cafe Retreat clearly offer exceptional value for money too. We will be back, perhaps to try lunch next time.

the staff are always friendly and quick. food is so nice! best cafe around. i have tried a few different dishes as i go quite regular and they have all been lovely.

I go there often for breakfasts and afternoon tea and cakes. Good selection of breakfasts and cakes.

Visiting family who have moved to Talley and were looking forward to trying out this place for lunch but so disappointed and won’t be back. It was Saturday lunchtime and wasn’t a busy venue. The first items our grandchildren wanted were not available nor were the drinks. The meal we eventually settled for was left uneaten by the child as even he could see it didn’t look appetising. The girl server was friendly but she couldn’t make up for the surly boy server. Such a shame. Next time we’ll get a sandwich and drink from Sainsbury across the road.

We went here for breakfast and we found the whole place was spotlessly clean and the food was excellent we ate every bit, the staff were very polite and friendly we enjoyed our food here. Our only negative is payment by card not accepted cash only. We had to go to a ATM

They didn’t take cards had to go cash machine. Very expensive my mate bought a bacon and cheese toasty on 1 slice of bread !!! £4.80

Came to collect some food and a hot chocolate for a relative in isolation. there are two sizes on the menu for hot chocolate, not that it states what the sizes are, but opted for the one 30p cheaper at £2.50. As I pick it up it feels VERY light, I thought maybe they hadn't added the milk in yet so opened the lid and told them the cup only has a splash of liquid in there. I was told this was the £2.50 size... I was met with hostility and felt embarrassed in front of customers so just accepted it and walked off. I refused to drink any, went home and measured it. A whole 100ml for £2.50... that's more than any luxury cafe I've ever been to! Very disappointed, they also took my cash before giving it to me and didn't feel confident enough to leave it and ask for a refund because one of the men was getting too close to me. They don't take card because I assume they don't want HMRC to know how much money they bring in.

Often visit the kebab shop a couple of doors down who have same owners but fancied a cooked breakfast today and other half can't walk as recovering from an ankle operation. Rang them and asked if any chance of doing a takeaway for a full English - instant yes and I went to collect. Breakfast was delicious and nicely packed with separate toast and little butter and jam packets. Will order again. Thank you for being so helpful.

As i have no kitchen at present at home i have been forced to eat out everyday. Although on my doorstep, i have only just tried Cafe retreat today after 12 weeks of trying alternatives. I wish i had come sooner. Staff have clearly taken onboard previous issues mentioned here on TA. Hand gel was available and chairs and tables were cleaned down after each visit. Staff were friendly and efficient and gladly swapped a couple of items on the breakfast menu without a fuss. The food and coffee when it arrived was piping hot and all breakfasts come with toast, butter and jam. The sausages were decent and not of the `Richmond variety' Quite frankly what is there not to like. This was a far better experience than i had at nearby Rosebourne cafe and Charlies cafe in Basingstoke. I will be returning!

Don’t quite know what was going on with the poached eggs, the avocado looked like road kill, when I gave the staff feedback on the meal the member of staff replied there was nothing he could do as he was just a worker

Visited lunch time today same dirty old menu’s bottles of condiments no individual sachets tables not required distance apart staff did wear masks and very polite feel they could do better food fantastic as always

We visit Cafe Retreat regularly for takeaway sandwiches & cake. The food is amazing, cakes to die for, and friendly staff who are happy to go "off menu" if you have an unusual request. Will continue to visit, often!

Very friendly service. Most of the staff are foreign and is sometimes difficult to communicate with but always friendly and polite. Last visit was with a group of friends for breakfast, 5 of us. The Cafe was packed out but they quickly sorted out a table for us. 5 Full English breakfasts, hot and freshly cooked. Good sausages and bacon.

I'm poor so I don't ever go for frills; I just get the 'big breakfast'; 'B5' at £7.20 (no drink). It's served that quick sometimes I wonder how they do it but it's always perfect. It's good quality chow served in a beautifully clean environment and when it's quiet, you get to read a news paper as well. The only downside is the occasonal presence of kids but you choose your times. I admit, I was a little suspicious of a 'greasy-spoon' without any formica in sight and a range of b****y ice-cream behind the counter but it's all good.

My two sisters, my Mum and I had lunch here on Saturday 23rd March. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Two of us had panini's and two had salads. The food was really good and arrived promptly. My sister said the coffee was very good. I have previously had the breakfasts here which are also very good. Will be going back and hope to try the milk shakes as we were watching the staff make them and they look delicious!

Ignore the moany reviews on here. This is a great cafe. We’ve had a couple of cooked brunches and cake and it’s lovely. The service is very efficient, friendly and helpful. The place was packed out today which is a testament to how good it is. Will return. The only drawback is it’s cash only.

This is a very dodgy restaurant, and i got a bad stomach after eating there. They don’t take cards, only cash, which is a bit suspicious too. Why don’t they want their payments traced? Cafe retreat is connected to Ali Babas, which is also dodgy and sells terrible food.

I have been several times and have been impressed by the lattes and cappucino coffee, good depth of flavour not just froth. It is more of a cafe than a coffee house though as menus are promptly thrust on the table upon arrival. I have habitually ordered the breakfasts however the burgers look freshly made. Service is friendly. Get a table well away from door in winter as blast of cold air from the frequently opened door comes regularly! That becomes a strength though as this place seems to be much frequented by the locals and there is a good athmosphere

Great baguettes, very good value and a lovely pot of tea! I asked for crispy bacon and runny egg in my baguette and I got exactly that. Perfect. Worth stopping by and enjoying the cafe.

Nice cheap food and great service, only drawback they need to start taking card payments otherwise it will put people off using them.

I would rate this "Cafe Retreat" - Poor. There are couple of things that contributed to my decision. One of them is the bad interior ( really uncomfortable chairs ) .The food was okay but kind of pricey. This old barista who did not have working clothes (staff uniform) on kept staring at us weirdly.

Great chocolate and cakes, what else can you ask for? People are nice, toilets are clean, and it is a great option when The Vyne is closing down leaving you without cream tea.

Ordered the B5 breakfast with extra black pudding for me and the B3 for my wife along with two cappuccinos. All on our table within 10 minutes. Food was excellent and so was the coffee. Well worth the £19:40. Definitely worth a revisit

We live in Tadley and so the Cafe Retreat is a great place to go for breakfast when we feel like it. The quality of the food is good, the coffee is top rate and the service is exceptional.

My husband suggested visiting this morning for breakfast, as a no effort (on our part) option on a hot Sunday morning. We were greeted at the door, and chose a table by the window, near an A/C unit - temperatures were already quickly soaring! I was very pleasantly surprised to find that Cafe Retreat is set out in a very similar way to some major coffee cafes, and was also spotless. My husband has visited before and already knew his choices, I just followed suit and ordered a B5 breakfast (basically the large option for just over £7). Our breakfasts quickly arrived and we weren't disappointed, everything was beautifully cooked and delicious. The waiters were all very polite, and our empty plates were cleared away promptly, but without making us feel rushed in any way.

Not somewhere to out your way to go to but it's lovely. The owners clearly take pride as it's impeccably clean, they even greet every single customer and open the doors as you approach. The food is quite reasonable and the coffee is excellent.

To be honest, I don’t think I would usually have come into a place that looks like this from the outside. Even since the refresh, I drive past regularly and didn’t think it would be worth stopping in. Boy was I wrong.

Coming to this cafe cause of TripAdvisor reviews, unfortunately had one of my worst experiences having breakfast. Average service, awful food, cheap coffee.

Despite living in Tadley for years, this was our first visit and we will be back. The cafe was clean and bright, though the ambience was a bit mixed. Service was friendly and attentive and the menu had plenty to whet the appetite. We had various breakfast dishes all of which were tasty enough. The only exception was the coffee, which was not that great. The only significant downside was that it is cash only. Fortunately we had enough with us.

I've lived in this area nearly 40 years and never heard of Cafe Retreat in Tadley. Excellent and warm welcome, excellent coffee/tea and food. I would award 5 stars but with a wind and snow the front door let in a freezing breeze - my advice is don't sit near the door! Otherwise an excellent visit. Next time we will try the breakfast which is highly recommended by other visitors and if you've fixed the door ......!

I regularly visit cafe retreat. Looks great since recent refurb with much improved toilet facilities (including baby changing area). Food is always good and service brilliant. Very friendly staff who always open the door for me, very hand when using pushchair. Great to have somewhere to go in town and for a reasonable price too.

Went for breakfast with visiting family & enjoyed a full breakfast on a Sunday morning. First visit since renovation which looked spacious and modern. Same great service and good food. Slightly expensive but like the fact there is somewhere nice to go in the town.

Recently tried out the new menu and I have to say I absolutely loved it! The chicken quesadilla served with fresh guacamole was delicious and I would definitely recommend. I also tried the waffles and they were so light, fluffy and amazing. I will be regularly visiting for lunch now!

Very pleased to find an all day breakfast on the menu although other food and cake also sounded good. Service was very nice, offered to swap out items I didn't want. Service very quick and food of a good quality and hot. Will def be returning!

Not sure how to eloquently describe my disbelief when ordering a croissant for breakfast at £1.30 to find myself face to face with not a normal size croissant one might expect at this price but some miniature version so overheated that it was barely edible even though I didn't ask for it hot nor did they offer me a preference.

Good 'full English' and when asked to cook something that wasn't on the menu they were more than obliging. Plenty of room inside with a few tables outside. Staff very helpful and would definitely recommend.

A gentle friendly place. Home made cakes tasty and slightly different, had June's Blackcurrant sponge with walnuts. The friend I went with raves over their breakfast, especially the biggest one. Mixed age range customers and the working tradesmen having slightly different lunches. The staff went out of their way to make you welcome.

We pop in to this cafe from time to time because it is always welcoming and friendly. The owner always makes himself known and smiles when we arrive and bids is farewell when we leave. He even got coffee syrups in for us because we asked!

Not even worth one star, have used this place a couple of times in the past and thought would pop in after its recent refit. Never again, asked for a latte with skimmed milk, told no skimmed or semi skimmed and a shrug of the shoulders and then got served a black coffee with a jug of milk on the side, the barrista clearly is not and needs training. Avoid.

Visited for a breakfast family brunch. We have been regulars for many years and have always been impressed with the quality of food and service. With the recently refurbishment they now have more space and much improved decor. They have expanded their menu and created new high quality menus (maybe in response to a previous comment about paper menus). The new breakfast waffle is a must with maple syrup and bacon. Perfect for breakfast and lunch and top notch and friendly service.

we thought we would have a look to see what they had done, I knew that there was more space out back, but never went to the dark side, but now it is open and spacious.The menu hasn't changed from before, they may have added the odd 5p here and there (penned on the menu), but the food was up to its usual high standards, and the staff are warm and welcoming.I think there was wifi, but didn't use it so not sure, and if I were to make a suggestion, that would be to have the menu on-line somewhere, but that requires support effort to keep it up to date, hosting costs money, would rather have lower prices than a fancy web site that you can't eat.

My mum and I visited here yesterday for a coffee and a sandwich and were certainly not disappointed! Both were lovely. We had the added bonus of the owner making us a waffle to share 'on the house' which was a very nice touch. They were light and delicious! The staff were very friendly and polite! We will definitely be back.

Visited today on recommendation of my son. The quality of the food was very good, using what appeared to be locally sourced produce, sausages, bacon etc. My daughter in law uses this restaurant on a regular basis to meet up with local mum's & toddlers. Well worth a visit. We made a special trip.

Had a breakfast here, nice refurbishment And breakfast was nice.There are a few things that could be improved for example: the menus are paper, not very hygienic, this could be because they are waiting for them to be printed. I had a large cup of tea with the Tea bag left in, a pot of tea would be more professional. My wife asked for brown toast, to be told they don't have any( there's a Sainsbury's across the road)And when I went to pay, I was expecting to use contactless but was surprised when I was told they only took cash (to avoid the tax man I guess)The food was nice, and that is the main thing, I will go back and give it another go.

We've been keen to try and get back to Cafe Retreat since the makeover and oh boy, what a treat.Not only is the restaurant three times the size, it's like sitting in a New York deli but with better food *and* you get to meet Nicholas Cage! (I kid, he's just the spitting image of the famous actor.)The food:We started with a shared waffle - so light and delicious will definitely have again.Then we had the B3 and the B5 - all beautifully cooked and with lashings of proper toast (not warm bread waved in front of a toaster) and softened butter (no foil wrapped bricks here).The sausages deserve a special mention - the owner sources them from a local butcher and you can tell - they're chock full of pork and utterly delicious.The ladies toilets are spotlessly clean.And the price? Two full cooked breakfasts, a pot of tea and a large latte came to just over £18. Fab. Given its nearness to Sainsburys, the library and the Princess Alice Hospice shop (opposite), we'll be regulars from now on.

We often stop off here on bike rides. The coffee is excellent and they do a huge range of belly busting meals. Now very smartly refurbished and enlarged, it deserves to attract a wider audience.

Food isn't bad, fairly standard fry up and at a reasonable price. Parking around the back is far easier than the front. They serve descent coffee which I freshly ground and nicely presented. Best option for a breakfast in the area

It's a small cafe, serves coffee and delicious breakfast, nice decor throughout, you can sit outside as well if you like smoking with your coffee, free parking available, staff are kind and friendly. Good price

We were not disappointed, being local although not frequent visitors, we received a warm welcome. Coffee excellent, as for the breakfast, if I use too many superlatives it would sound unbelievable. In essence, it was as breakfasts should be, nicely filling a hole, and the bonus was the good flavours, long may it provide us with breakfasts when we feel like a treat.

This is our local cafe and we come here for breakfast more than any where else. Breakfast is cheap and fast. Just what we need!!

I quite often come here for breakfast on a weekend, I've always had good service and good food, the only bad thing is you do come out smelling of food.

Only live a couple of minutes down the road, but sometimes come here when I can't be bothered to cook breakfast. It's run by some Turkish guys, though there's little Turkish food served (shame). Terrific value and so welcoming, far better than the supermarket across the road! Only criticism is that they don't publish opening times, but it always seems to be open during working hours.
