Previously visited several years in a row & fully enjoyed both the food & the service. 2 out of 3 main courses arrived almost an hour after ordering when the restaurant has only 2 tables occupied. Food was cold & lamb well done instead of pink. After complaining to a manager, no interim refreshments were offered & he told us that there was a trainee chef working & there were problems. Waited a further 30 minutes for replacement meals to arrive whilst more recent diners were prioritised with their ordered food. We had been working all day at the Southport Flower show & simply wanted to eat & get to bed. Instead our evening was ruined, my husband having to eat alone & us having to wait an hour & a half to eat. The food was disappointing & had become very mediocre instead of excellent as it had always been. Hugely disappointing. As a consequence of such an awful experience, our bill was negated but we would have rather had the great food we normally enjoyed there. I believe the restaurant was in new hands so perhaps new management was responsible for the huge change of quality & service. We will not return.

Great food and lovely house wine, the table service however left a bit to be desired, our starter plates were not cleared and left till our main course was taken away, the bar service however was good, not over expensive for the quality of food

My wife and I had not used this small chain before. We did not book and came in for an early supper, they had tables and are the sort of place that are buzzing all day. Interesting building and location and the food is excellent with a good choice of drinks. Friendly staff. If we are in Southport or Altringham then we would definitely use them again.

After hearing about this place from friends , I decided it was well placed on Lord Street to arrange for a group travelling to Southport to meet for lunch. The room was very noisy and service was haphazard. There seemed to be a lot of youngsters who were learning the ropes with oneor two overseers. One of the group enjoyed what I believe was braised steak but the rest of us were not impressed. I had a very dry piece of chicken, completely tasteless butI have to say a very generous portion. We ordered a bottle of water when we ordered the meal but had to ask again after food arrived. Sweets were ok but nothing special. I’m glad it is a popular restaurant and always seems crowded when passing but I was glad to get away from the noise and sadly wouldn’t want to revisit. It has easy access for disabled although not much room for equipment, and as Isaid it is in a prime position for access to shoppers, buses and not too far to the train.

What a great place,a taste of France in Southport. The price reflects the quality and is quite reassuring.

The food is hot and tasty, between us we had eggs benedict, a toastie and a crepe. Was pleased to see that real chicken pulled from the bone was used in the toastie - we know this because we found a bone, this didn't bother us. Its a lovely little place but the drinks needs to be looked at... we ordered two latte's both were luke warm and although I expect a decaf to not taste too strong... it was comparable to a glass of milk that had been left out all night in terms of coffee flavour and temperature, the drinks really let this place down I'm afraid

The cafe promises so much with its pretty decor and interesting menu. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite deliver. We went at the start of service on a Saturday lunch time and they weren't serving half the savoury crepe menu, and had run out of ingredients for the nicoise salad. I don't feel the menu is extensive enough to be not serving a chunk of it on your busiest day off the week. When we managed to order something they were serving, portions were disappointingly small and drinks were overpriced. Food was tasty, but we left hungry.

The prices at this Lord St café are reasonable and the food is nice, but the coffee is very disappointing (weak), especially compared with the many other cafes around. This would not be the case in a similar style café in France, where coffee is always of a high quality and strong. The restaurant also advertises its French bread, baked on the premises using flour imported from France. The bread we had for our sandwiches was nice and fresh, but to be honest we could not tell the difference from good quality UK supermarket bread (and we have eaten a lot in France in recent years).

We called in for a quick lunch and found their soup and baguette deal excellent value. The soup was thick and tasty, and the baguette well filled, with accompanying salad & crisps.Service was friendly, and a table in the window, watching life go by on Lord Street made it a really enjoyable lunch.

My girlfriend and I have been to this cafe 4 times now and each time it's been exceptionally good! Being a coeliac, it's not always easy to find places that cater for gluten free food but there is so much choice here and what's more it's really tasty! The fish and chips is fantastic, the batter is better than what I used to eat when I was able to eat gluten as it's really light so doesn't take away the taste of the fish like a lot of batters do! It comes with gluten free bread too and again this is delicious. I've eaten a lot of horrible gluten free bread in the past and choose not to eat it as a result but this bread roll tasted like normal bread and was warm with butter! Perfect! The coffee is excellent and the service is always speedy, there's literally nothing I can think of to fault this cafe, it's exceptionally good value for money and we always leave full and satisfied. We go there every time we visit Southport now, no point going anywhere else as really doubt anywhere can beat this place! They also do a good selection of gluten free waffles and pancakes, which are lovely! It's not just the gluten free food either, my girlfriend isn't coeliac and she loves the food too!10/10 :)

I went to this lovely cafe on the spur of the moment whilst out shopping with my grown up son. The cafe was very well presented and clean. A pleasant and friendly waitress attended to us. We ordered the Eggs Benedict which was superb, I had a latte which was very agreeable and my son had a hot chocolate which he said was delicious. Would we go back? Most definitely, it is a great little find and a nice change from the big coffee chains.

I try to write fair reviews for fellow TA readers and have struggled to find anything positive about this place other than the serving person who was obviously under stress and trying to do her best to keep waiting customers placated – it wasn’t her fault As we live locally we went to Cafe Pierre as part of a hot drink and waffle/crepe Groupon promotion – valid Wed - Sun 11am – 5:30 pmWe arrived at 11:45am seated ourselves and then awaited to be approached which was within a couple of minutes, said we were redeeming the voucher and was told the owner/boss wasn’t in yet and so food couldn’t be served but she was expected in 10-15 mins – it appears that the offer is on from 12 noon (sweet crepes only) – not what was on the voucher as others have discoveredSo we said ok we’ll have the drinks and wait (if only we’d known then) – we had the drinks and at 12:15 the boss/owner arrived and went straight to the back to start prepping food – we had ordered a 1 crepe and 1 waffleMy wife went shopping in the interim and at 12:25 I was told the mixture was being prepared By 12:55 (70 mins after we entered) my wife was feeling very faint (lack of food) so I asked for a couple of biscuits – duly supplied – at 1pm her crepe arrived (very minimal) at 1:05pm my waffle arrived again nothing special – we ate and left vowing never to return What was exceptionally annoying was that people who came in after us – were being served hot food – fish and chips, onion soup etc – The only conclusion I can come to in the light of no other explanation being given in 90 mins of being there (of which 10 mins max to eat, the food items arrived at different times) was that it would appear that Groupon people were being served after full paying customers as apparently there is hardly any profit on the deal – The people on the table next to us even apologised that they received their food before us (but they weren't on the Groupon offer) and couldn't believe how long we were waitingWhilst I appreciate that the Groupon deal may not be the best value nor provide significant profit for the business, it is a unique way of enticing people for future custom. However, what we (and others, by some reviews) experienced, is not the way to treat any customer and the chances of repeat custom are categorically nil – this is the worst example of Groupon voucher redemption service I have ever experienced and have redeemed quite a few

We purchased a Groupon Voucher for coffee and waffle for 2 which is valid from Wed-Sun. We visited the cafe on Thursday 19th March at 1.30pm and the Cafe was CLOSED, the voucher stated that the voucher is valid Wed-Sun, however we decided to return on Saturday 21st March as the voucher was only valid until the 24th March which is a Tuesday so it was our last chance to use it.We visited around 12.30pm on Saturday, we sat down and when the waitress came we explained we had come on Thursday but they were closed, she said , “ I know we had no staff”, we looked at the menu and as my husband prefers savoury to sweet we asked if we could have a savoury waffle and we would happily pay the difference, the sweet ones were £3.50 and the Savoury £4.95, the waitress went away and came back saying no you can only have a sweet one. We added up the cost of 2 sweet desserts and 2 cafe Francoise and it only came to £7.00 for the waffles and £3.80 for the coffees which is £10.80, so we suggested that if we pay the difference of £1.50 they would still be making more than the voucher value. We asked the waitress to put this to the owner, the waitress came back and said if you want a savoury waffle you can pay an extra £4.00, well as they are only £4.95 this seemed ludicrous. She also said the owner only makes £1.00 each on the waffles, well I am sorry but that is not our concern, we have paid for a voucher worth £12.20 and felt that we had been hoodwinked. We asked to see the owner and she refused. We decided to go away and did not use the voucher, the service was disgusting and there was no apology for the fact we had made 2 journeys as they were closed on the Thursday.I have used many Groupon vouchers and this is the first one where I feel the management have let Groupon down.

Got this on a Groupon deal for two, I had the hot waffle which was huge with fresh strawberries and choice of chocolate, I had white, my husband had a crepe with nutello and banana and maple syrup, both with ice cream, accompanied by hot chocolate with marsh mellows and a caffetiare of freshly ground coffee and hot milk. Menu was a difference, so many meals I want to try. Easy to find on Lord St. Pleasant interior and staff really nice too.

I had purchased a groupon voucher for waffles and coffee, so we used it whilst shopping on a Saturday afternoon. My husband ordered the steak and Stilton pie, he was very happy with it, nice portion size. The waffles are to die for, lovely and fresh, great choice of toppings, this is a bit of a hidden gem, as I didn't even know there was a cafe that made these amazing waffles and crepes so local to me.The only reason for the low star rating is the speed of service, so slow, and it wasn't even busy when we visited. I even saw a couple wait to be seated and they weren't even acknowledged by the staff, they left in the end, this could be due to the kitchen area being right at the back of the cafe, and the staff maybe didn't notice them!I would visit again, but I'll make sure I've got plenty of time left on the parking meter.

After busy shopping on Lord Street in Southport, we decided to find a cafe that had a bit of personality (difficult!) so, we walked around and then found a lifesize statue of a little chef outside a cafe called "Cafe Pierre" - The menu was interesting for all our party, so we went in.We were served by a nice lady called Nina and I asked about the cafe and the menu (I could see the chef in the open kitchen, another plus - a lady called Ursula, I believe). We made our selections and started with a fab coffee (quality beans, I could tell) then...a couple of us ordered French onion soup - WOW! it came with tasty, toasted bread with cheese on..but the soup was not only home made (well I couldn't make it!) but no joke, the best I've ever tasted. One of our party ordered an extra one! The waffles (we ordered a mix of savoury and belgium chocolate ones) were fantastic!!I was so glad we came across this treasure in Southport and now we know where to go every time we visit. I can't recommend it enough - Cafe Pierre is Tres Magnifique!!

Looks pleasant from outside..clean & tidy inside.Ordered honey & cinnamon latte, took quite a while..sweet syrupy warm drink, couldn't taste honey, cinnamon or even coffee!Opted for 3 cheeses warm baguette..2 thin slices of what looked like brie, surprised as brie wasn't listed as the 3..the other 2 cheeses were absent from the baguette. Also chose sundried tomato..substited by 1/2 a cherry tomato in the sparse side salad. At no time were we approached to enquire if all was ok..probs as staff were very busy. One couple left without ordering as they'd waited quite a while to order. Husband paid & we left..disappointed!Will not return.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch today in this small, French styled restaurant. Perfectly placed in the middle of Lord Street for a shopping break. Plenty of choice on the menu from crepes and pastries to homemade soups, baguettes and light bites. The lunchtime "special" meals were excellent value for money. I had fish, chips and mushy peas with a pot of tea for £5:95! It was all beautifully cooked and presented with a good choice of condiments on offer. The speciality coffees looked interesting and competitively priced. The service was quick and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Although the seating area is bijou, the light decor and French styled furniture helped to create an interesting and calm atmosphere. Glad I didn't have my granddaughter with me though....not much space to manoeuvre a pushchair! Definitely worth a second visit and it has free wifi.... Bonus!

We three ladies called for lunch on a shopping trip. The café has a very French ambience, with prints and posters of Paris, bistro tables and cushioned wrought iron chairs, comfortable settees and French café music playing softly enough so that we could carry on a conversation. The menu specialises in home made soup, quiches, hot and cold baguettes, and cakes and pastries - and a huge range of coffees, including various flavoured coffees. We settled for delicious filter coffee served in a cafetiere with large cups, and toasted baguettes with Toulouse sausage(spicy and garlicky) and another with back bacon, which was also very nice. The side salad was very fresh, which is a big plus We did not have room for the lovely cakes, although we did admire (well, drool over)them .Peter (alias Pierre) and the waitress were both very friendly and the service was quick. This was a very pleasant visit, and one we will repeat.
