Today sitting outside listening to an acoustic set ( part of Covent Garden residence festival) you wouldn't want to be anywhere else. This small cafe style restaurant I understand is part of a chain ; that said you would never guess. The mushroom soup was definitely home made as was the tiramisu. The staff were attentive without crowding you.Excellent options for vegetarians. Two starters two mains one pudding one coffee two beers two waters under 45 pounds In Covent Garden that is excellent value. The food tasted authentic with fresh herbs. When I couldn't managed all of the pudding the waitress checked in with me to see if was ok as it was freshly made that morning ; demonstrating that they were genuinely interested in customer satisfaction. They have daily specials as well as a very good range of options within their main menu.Highly recommended.

This has always been one of favorite little Italian restaurants in London. The name changed in May 2012, but not much else. It is always crowded at dinner when we go there, so reservations are recommended. My wife particularly loves their Pesto Linguini and garlic bread.

Prices look OK but pizza was lots of bread (cheap) and not much topping (expensive stuff). Dessert was very small on a very large plate. Service slow. They seem to be more interested in selling bread and olives and starters that giving good service. Seemed to be recently refurbished so they are trying to maximise profit at the customers expense. Wish we had gone elsewhere.

I ate here twice in the past week. The first time was quite good. Service good. Food enjoyable. Nice wine. The second time was a disappointment. Service slow and curt. Food horrible - had carbonara, the bacon was burned and there was no salt in it. The wine was nice again! Pity.

We found this restaurant last year when in London and had a great meal so made a point of eating there again. We ended up eating there twice. Both times the food was terrific and the service attentive. The food is not terribly imaginative but what they do serve is excellent. I had chicken and my husband had pasta each time which he said was exactly what he wanted and was super. It’s a fairly small place but nice and intimate with windows on 2 sides of the restaurant. Excellent choice and we’ll be back.

After picking up our tickets for Rock of Ages (see my review for this also), we were looking for a place for dinner and found Cafe Pasta. It's very tiny, but with a nice atmosphere. Luckily we got here early enough and got the last table--later people were turned away because there wasn't enough room. The garlic bread was amazing, and the pizza was the best I've had outside of Italy!! We also split a few desserts that were all delicious. I would definitely go back!

Joined a group of 6 for Saturday catchup. 3 of the 6 hot starters were cold - FAIL. Sent them back & went hungry. Mains came out together. Pasta was dry & uninspiring. Food was generally luke warm. FAIL.Decided on 3 deserts, 1 arrived very quickly was good. Waited 30 mins for 2 others (ice-cream & a Waffle). Ice cream was ok, waffle was, no surprise cold and un-edible. By this time 2+ hours there we had already paid and were running out. COMPLETE FAIL.

My wife and I spent last week-end in London, we took in a show on the Tues evening, "Les Mis" (fantastic) and decided to go to the Cafe Pasta in Shaftsbury Avenue on the Friday night as we have many fond memories of using this restaurant when we both lived in London on our way home from work.We were shown to a table directly in front of the door so that everytime the door opened you were subject to a cold blast of wind and Friday night was cold, the restaurant was full so this was accepted. We ordered two starters, olives and warm bread with dipping oil, the wine arrived and with-in one minute so did the main courses we had ordered.WEexplained to the waitress that we had just that minute received the starters and would like time to eat them first, she took both plates away placed them on the counter and walked off. A male waiter then picked them up and returned them to our table, we explained again to him that we had just received our starters and wine and would like to have some time to enjoy them with our wine. The table is approx 27 inches square and with wine, glasses, and three plates with starters I was some what at a loss where they would have put them, he took the two main courses back to the kitchen and approx 15 minutes later one cleared away the starter plates and another reappeared with the mains. Both plates were stone cold as was the pasta's, I informed the male waiter who placed his hand on the plate, agreed and took them both away, before he did I was confident of what was about to happen and using my fork spread some of the sauce on the lip of the plate. Sure enough the plates returned in 5 minutes and the smeared sauce was baked hard, a sign the plate had been in a micro-wave, my wife had had a pasta with fresh rocket this was now cooked, not wilted but cooked. Both pasta's were hot in the centre but cold on the outside. We refused to accept them and asked for the bill, no apology was forth coming in fact the attitude of two of the staff was we were being problematic, during the whole of the time spent in the place we felt as if the aim was get them in and get them out, we need the table. We used to use this restaurant on average once a week some times twice, the service was good the food typical Italian pasta and you were allowed to enjoy your meal at your pace. I would add when we left this restaurant we went to the "Soho Pizza" on Beak Street, the service was excellent, the pizzas were HOT, freshly baked and tasty, we were left to enjoy the food and live jazz in peace. The next time we come to London for a week-end, Cafe Pasta is off the list and Soho Pizza on, it is such a shame as we have fond memories of good nights spent in there.

This is a small restaurant with excellent food actually staffed by Italians, the service has always been efficient and pleasant, the food is well priced we have used it often and have never been disappointed. Recently we had to wait for a table to become available but sat outside having a beer and were served promptly when one became available within 8 to 10 minutes, but with views into Monmouth street and Shaftsbury Avenue watching the world pass by was no real problem.

Bustling Italian restaurant on edge of Theatreland serving tasty food. Good value lunchtime and early evening menus.Despite being very busy, we were served promptly and efficiently and really enjoyed our meals. The street level section of the restaurant looks out onto Shaftesbury Avenue on one side and Monmouth Street on the other, giving plenty of people watching opportunities. There's also a large basement dining area, which wasn't in use on the evening we visited.Staff told us the restaurant was due to close in November 2011 but would be reopening under a different name, also offering Italian meals.

We choose Cafe&Pasta due to the discount of the London Pass. First from the outside it looked closed but downstairs the restaurant is nice and stylish. The service was ok but not great. Now to the meals. There was no flavour in my “Shredded chicken Penne“. The “Mixed leaves“ was a very little portion. The Lasagne of my gilfriend was good but nothing special. With the discount of the London pass it was a nice try but without the discount too expensive for the provided meals and service.

Five of us ate at this resteaurant each having different dishes. All of the food was of very good quality served at a very reasonable price for the location. They also accept the Gourmant card so our food was discounted. early of the staff were plesat, polite ad eager to serve accept one female member of staff who was abrupt, made no eye contact and was ufriendly in her manner. It was a shame this one member of staff put a cloud over our visit, I did mention to the manager how this girl needs to smile and be respectful to customers. I would definitely visit this resteraunt again.

Firstly I have to say that we got 50% off food with a tastelondon card which made this restaurant great value for money, but even without that I'd have still probably rated it the same. The food was really nice, great flavours. Only think was my pasta portion was a little on the small side. Had a gorgeous cheesecake for dessert too! Would definitely recommend, especially before going to the theatre as we did as it's close to Covent Garden/Leicester Square.

My partner and I were in London last weekend staying at The Covent Garden Hotel, and had tickets to see the musical Hairspray (fabulous show, go see it !!). However we wanted to find somewhere very close to both hotel and theatre, and a place we could eat fairly early since the show started at 7.30 pm. Café Pasta fitted the billed perfectly. About 1 minute away from our hotel (it has entrances from Shaftesbury Avenue and Monmouth Street), Café Pasta is a little jewel of a restaurant. Crucial word here is ‘little’ because it is a very small restaurant (I believe there are tables downstairs but we never saw those), however it didn’t feel crowded – just intimate. Food was traditional Italian, top class, delicious and big servings – I wanted to sample the Baked Waffle dessert but, being too stuffed from main course, had to settle for a sublime Sicilian Lemon sorbet ! Price was quite reasonable for London - £78 for two including wine and coffee. Our only negative comment was that since our table was very close to one of the doors (and it was a very cold night), everytime someone opened the door we were both subjected to a terrific icy blast. Since place is so small and busy, a reservation (can be done online) is a very good idea. Must mention our waiter (unfortunately didn’t get his name) – young Italian, drop dead gorgeous guy who really made the evening a lovely and memorable experience.

We chose this restaurant as it was close to our hotel and looked busy. It is only a small place, but has a very cozy feel to it - nice for a meal for 2. The food was simple, homely, italian range and everything we had was beautifully fresh and piping hot. Don't miss the baked waffle dessert! We paid approx £50 for 3 courses and a drink each - Fantastic value for money in London.

At first i was sceptical about this place, but gave it a try and didnt dissapoint a single bit. One of the best customer service in London, staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. I will come back here the next time i stay in London for sure, fully recommend at least trying it out.

From the minute we entered the restaurant to a totally lacklustre welcome we could tell it wasn’t going to be the special night out we had envisaged. The waitress really made us feel like we were a total inconvenience. She didn’t smile once during our visit. Without being personal one other member of staff was a very strange individual and very hard to understand. One main course was really disappointing and tasteless but we were afraid to say anything. If it wasn’t for the fact we were using a voucher that was near the expiry we would have left. Sadly we don’t get to meet up very often and left feeling really deflated. Safe to say we won’t be returning.

Visited as part of a day wandering around London and after a matinee show in the area. Had a Groupon voucher for set meal costing £35. Several of dishes not available from what was already a small choice menu. Appears long-standing issue of "no chips" was again a problem. By the time you add on a £30 bottle of house wine, supplement on the steak and then service charge you done get much change out of £100. Marked as average only and certainly not somewhere I would return. Nice air con restaurant with music which we liked but fairly empty and soulless.

I came here for lunch with my mother and daughter, the service was exceptionally good, we had a super friendly and attentive host. We ordered the risotto which was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. I ordered a glass of the pinot noir which was also reasonably priced for the size and fresh. I would definitely return and recommend. It seems the more negative reviews are around busy periods so maybe that's a staffing issue, but my experience was exemplary.
