The Colonel Fawcett in Camden

30+ of us booked a corner to celebrate the completion of our play. We booked the section on the left with pre-dinner drinks and a sit-down dinner. A menu was specially designed for us to fit our budget. All food items were great, the pork croquettes, marinated bavette, beetroot focaccia, pork belly, pumpkin risotto and Lincolnshire sausages. The chef also made us a Guinness chocolate cake and prune Victorian cake. The food is definitely way above typical bar food quality. We were pleasantly surprised. Being relatively new to the UK and London, it’s the first time many of us stayed so late in a neighbourhood pub. The crowd was super friendly. And they kept on coming even after midnight. We had a wonderful time drinking and dancing after dinner. Ryan, our server, did a wonderful job. Many didn’t remember what they pre-ordered. Many were not paying much attention when the courses were being served, some were late. We also had a video to be projected. Ryan helped us sort everything out with patience, and a smiley face, and a lot of sweat. Seeing him literally running around reminded us of efficiency and service dedication back in Hong Kong and made us feel at home. Thanks for making our celebration a memorable evening. We will surely come back.

The food was way above average for pub food and the staff very friendly. Very Impressed.

The food was lovely but was really made our experience great was the staff. Everyone was lovely, and Sebastian was particularly thoughtful and anticipated all our requests!

Went to the Friday evening pub quiz with my son Alex as we are dedicated " quizzers". This was a pub quiz like no other !! Great fun and hosted by lively energetic and humorous Ben ! Interesting challenges, spoiler alert - but I won't reveal !! alongside the quiz questions ! Really enjoyed the evening , and good choice of drinks Mick

Amazing Sunday lunch. The menu is small but the selection is very good and the dishes are all well considered and made with care, attention and good quality ingredients. I had the veggie wellington with all the trimmings and a lovely glass of cotes du rhone - it was all very well seasoned (not easy for a veggie wellington), balanced (I particularly liked the beetroot pure) and generously portioned. The sticky toffee pudding was really good too. My standout dish though was the broccoli with cheddar and blue cheese - it was delicious! And the pub is very dog friendly too!

Our party of 8 had a very enjoyable Sunday at the Pub just yeaterday. In particular the head Chef Rob went the extra mile in both securing a shoulder of lamb for us at the last moment and also in cooking it deliciously but also in line with my daughters intolerances.

Was recommended the colonel especially for their roasts. I had the roast chicken which was super tasty and generous portions! Great selection of drinks too. Special mention for the sticky toffee pudding 😍 definitely going back soon.

Had such a fantastic time at the Colonel Fawcett on a Wednesday quiz night. Ben who hosts the quiz is amazing, and it really is the place to be mid-week! It was a fun busy environment and a group of us celebrated a special birthday, which they were very accommodating of. 10/10 thank you!

Well lit, clean, young crowd. On our visit the bar staff seemed rather disorganized 630 pm on a weekday. More expensive than other pubs in the area. Great garden space in back.

I booked the second floor function room for my husband’s birthday party and it was a great success. Pre-ordering food and drinks was easy and at a good price, and on the day the team were great with helping setting up (including lending us a table cloth to cover a painting that was to be revealed at the end of the night). Particular thanks to Courtney, managing front of house, for her patience & for making everything go so smoothly, and to Rob in the kitchen for the delicious food. We would definitely book here again!

The bar staff were welcoming and friendly. It gave the evening a good warm feeling even before the drinking. I would totally recommend the pub - any time of day.

Really nice Pub away from the busier side of Camden. We went for the Friday night quiz and had a good time. Would also recommend the smash burger.

Been coming here for a year and have just realised that it doesn't come up on Google as a vegan-friendly pub?? The vegan food is SO good. The menu is hyper-seasonal and changes often, so there's always something new and interesting to try, while the staples (best chips in London) stay. Photos are of new potatoes and asparagus with pea shoots and vegan hollandaise, gnocchi x2, home made salt and pepper crisps, deep fried celeriac with beetroot and kale crisps, chips with vegan tartar sauce, and a lentil and seared mushroom dish with salsa verde next to a carrot and fennel salad with creamed butter beans. Vegan foodies have to start getting on this place. Innovative, delicious, exciting food. Obviously it does food that isn't vegan but that's not my area of expertise 🫠

The food is amazing, the chef is really good! I have tried beef sunday roast and the cheese burger and they were both tasty, great quality and fresh ingredients. The staff is friendly and so polite. Spot on! Thank you 🤗

A great Sunday roast with an enormous Yorkshire pudding! Friendly service and a great Northern Soul soundtrack playing in the background. 4th Sunday visit this year.

Sunday roast was delicious, favorite place we ate on this 5 day trip. Staff was super helpful in making and adjusting reservations as our plans changed. Great place to watch a football match.

A group of us went for lunch and sat in the pub garden on a glorious summer day. The service and food were both excellent! Particularly enjoyed the frozen daiquiris and small plates - perfect for the hot day. A friendly welcome and lovely vibe - all in all, a really lovely afternoon. Would definitely recommend this Camden gem and will definitely be returning!

We had our wedding party here, can't recommend enough. Joel was really helpful in the run up with sorting out everything we wanted, answering our questions and helping us plan. The team were really accommodating with what we wanted - we brought an extra speaker for the dancefloor, lights and decorations. Pass Time kitchen sorted out extra food choices for us, and all the food on the night was delicious, nothing was left behind! Ryan the barman and Courtney the manager were really helpful, friendly with all our guests and very patient with us at the end of the night! Thank you so much for making it all so easy and stress free - we had such a good night!

Had my birthday party at the Colonel Fawcett. Joel and the team were absolutely professional and helpful throughout and made the experience totally easy and seamless; the food was excellent and abundant, function room was great, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Would highly recommend as a place to have your event.

Lovely roast beef dinner, friendly staff, couldn't fault it!

Held my husband’s birthday at the private venue upstairs which has the ideal set up with a private bar, pool table, darts, screen for slide shows and a DJ desk with good sound system. Loved the buffet, the quality of food was fantastic. But the most important thing is that the staff members were truly fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable and extremely accommodating. There was always someone at the bar, never had to wait to order our drinks. Special thanks to Joel whom I have been liaising with from the start, he took the pressure off me and made sure everything went smoothly. All our friends absolutely loved the night. Highly recommend, just can’t wait to be back!!

I had my 30th birthday with the colonel Fawcett in their private room upstairs and they were so kind and attentive and accommodating - great value, super communicative and a superstar team, whole heartedly recommend!!

£27 (including service charge) for a beef sunday roast is way too much. I understand rents, taxes on labour and energy prices are out of the chart but the value for money is just not there.

Joel made organising our hen party so easy and was extremely helpful on the day. The food was also excellent and there was a nice selection of beers.

Rented the semi-private space as part of a hen party. Staff were really helpful and attentive, making this section of the hen party a real highlight for the bride - specifically want to say a big thank you to Joel! Food was delicious and the atmosphere is really friendly and relaxed - would definitely recommend!

Great atmosphere. Highly recommend the pub quiz (the Friday one is very fun, a mesh of a quiz and a game show. Ben is a great host and even remembers everyone's name!) I'd recommend booking though because it's popular. 3 pounds per person entry. Food is tasty. Drinks aren't cheap but standard London prices. They also have interactive dart games upstairs which is a fun addition (also book).

Went to play interactive darts. Really easy to book online. We went for an hours slot which was £5 per person, so an absolute bargain! We were introduced to the games and how to use them. Really fun! Good beers too.

I hired the space upstairs for a 50th birthday party and had an amazing time. The venue was absolutely perfect for a party of 75 people with plenty of space to mingle and chat and a separate raised area for dancing, which we were able to do until 1am with no noise restrictions. Joel and the team were so fantastic in the lead up to the party and on the night itself, and couldn’t have been more helpful. I would highly recommend the pub and particularly the space upstairs if you want a lovely private party in a gorgeous setting. Thanks for making it a great night for me.

Great night last week at the best pub in Camden (possibly even London) ! Decently priced drinks, good vibes and great service (big thanks to Freddie in particular), will be coming back!

We booked a private space downstairs for a multi generational event and it couldn’t have been more successful from our perspective. The staff at the Colonel Fawcett were lovely and accommodating. They provided high chairs, and crockery and cutlery for the cake we’d brought in, and helped us rearrange the furniture. I didn’t sample lots of their food but the chips we had were great and the drinks selection excellent. Lovely pub and slightly off the beaten track, definitely recommend.

You will not be disappointed!!!!! Must visit to complete your Camden visit and any pub crawl has failed without this hidden gem in your itinerary start hear and you will not be disappointed . Really you couldn’t get a better all rounder For atmosphere Really food and drink quality and prices, which is rare. The cocktails and pub started are reasonably priced and have a diverse range with a few classic finally A menu to appreciate Absolutely hits the mark. It’s a little off the beaten track which makes vibe a nice welcome with the same life and music camden is known for. This last part is just naught it one of the only place you will find a pool table darts and a piano. Hosting different events from time to time. Show you thanks to Freddy for a good night when leaving. The food was great hence the lack of it in some photos ☺️

Rude bar tender. When I asked for a Moretti gave me a half full pint. When asked for him to fill it up to the top he said “I’m sorry that’s just how we serve it.” Then when asked one more time explaining that there was too much froth he said ‘yeah but you see where it says ‘pint’ on the glass that’s where the beer should come to. Unnecessary.

We hired out The Upstairs Room at The Colonel Fawcett for a private work event, the team were super helpful and communicated really well beforehand and they even slightly adapted their menu to suit our tastes which was great! On the night itself we were really well looked after by the staff, the drinks were flowing and our team had loads of fun playing both pool and darts, the background music adds a nice vibe too. The buffet was delicious, all clearly labelled, tasted really fresh, and in no way was it "regular pub grub" and we had so many great comments from our guests about it too. It's a 5 star review from Southgrove, we won't hesitate to return and recommend - thanks guys, until the next time!

I hired the function room for a birthday party. The pub and the function room are great: spacious, nicely decorated, well equipped, with a strong selection of drinks. The staff were very accommodating and provided excellent service on the night. Look forward to going back again!

Seemingly every beer I tried to order was unavailable much to the embarrassment of the really lovely staff. Seriously there were more than 8 beers listed on the menu which were unavailable. Same story for the food. Many dishes unavailable. And then to the Risotto. £16.50 for this tiny and appalling looking plate of gruel? Lovely staff. Management demonstrating total incompetence.

Had the upstairs social room for ourselves with a group (minimum spend arrangement). The social darts is nice, service is good and kind and the food was on par.

We hired the room upstairs for a birthday party and the whole experience was great from making the booking, planning it and the actual night itself. I totally recommend it and we were really pleased ! The staff are amazing !

Fantastic pub with great staff, made our event so special! I hosted a large pub quiz fundraiser in the private room upstairs and the space was perfect. Joel and the team made it all so easy and the venue is perfect for getting a large group together for a party and celebrating. Would highly recommend!

Excellent food, atmosphere and service, everything was great until it was time to pay. They add a 12.5% service charge onto the bill which is fine although most restaurants include this in the listed prices instead of adding it on top of the total. But then when paying by card, you are also prompted to add a tip. It needs to be made clear by the server that you have already tipped 12.5% via the added service charge and that anything you want to add is over and above the tip they've already added. Because this is unusual in the UK as most restaurants include the service already and don't prompt for extra, you're suddenly no longer sure what the tipping situation is and it feels so awkward to ask. Some clarity by the staff at the time of paying would have solved this. I would have loved to give this place 5 stars except that this lack of clarity and prompt for additional money when tipping was confusing as this is not standard in restaurants and pubs here. I would have loved to go back again and would have recommended this place otherwise so it's a shame about this.

Charming gastro pub! Delightful outdoor space, perfect for sunny days. Good food, but not something standout unfortunately. The added pool and darts add a fun touch to the experience. Was really quiet on a Tuesday.

A nice quieter area than the main drag of Camden Town. We stopped in for an early dinner, the food here is amazing. It is good to find a pub that serves proper food. Our starters were generous in size and delicious. I had the Monkfish Scampi and my other half chose the venison chipolata sausages. Sadly there was only one portion of the sea bass left, so hubby gallantly took the sausage and mash option. We both enjoyed our meals and our visit to The Colonel Fawcett. The staff were welcoming and attentive. We will certainly come back again when we are next in Camden.

My favourite pub in Camden for a good meal, and quality time with friends. Great location, yet very local feel, away from the hoards of tourists.

Beautiful pub with a nice garden at the back as well as outside seating at the front. Had the padron peppers and the scotch egg, both really delicious. The young lady at the bar was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

poor service, waited over 15 minutes for drinks until I had to go into the bar and ask for them ! had no condiments on the table . ordered 2 beef roast dinners and 2 cokes £61 extreme overpriced was average roast dinner .over all would not recommend there is much better places in camden and much cheaper .

So we had lunch and it was spectacular. The sausages are made by the cousin of the brother-in-law of one of the Chefs. This in itself isn't relevant to anything except this is a family worth marrying in to if sausages are your thing. As for the rest of the meal it's the fiddly bits that make the difference. The sauces are nuanced with hints and echoes of flavours that demonstrate the kinds of tricks that earn you a Michelin star.

Just when you thought these guys had it nailed they come out with a Collab with the guys at Pass Time. A true meeting of minds and methods, the carefully cultivated beer and wine selection compliments the small plates beautifully. Just a light grazing for us in the sun today so didn't get to explore any of the wine list or larger plates but that's what we're coming back for soon. Top marks all round for a job well done!

Went here to try the pub quiz which was a lot of fun and the host made sure it was personalised and very enjoyable - highly recommend!! Prices were a little high but they had a great deal on 2for1 double gins! With great seating indoors and out! ✨ staff were lovely
