Belgo Noord in Camden

Hadn't been to a Belgo in a good few years so when shopping in Camden I thought I would go in there with my girlfriend who has never been in one.Sadly it is closed down.The premises were derelict and there was a sign outside saying 'To Let'.No mention of it been closed on the Belgo website.I assume they want to keep it as quiet as possible.

Se apoyaba sobre un gran trozo de vidrio que penetraba en el pie. la camarera dijo que venía del interior del piso de concreto (por favor, de verdad, la última vez que miré era mejor que el coeficiente intelectual de un dígito). Las papas fritas eran terribles - recalentado Mccains derivados en el mejor. Esta cadena solía hacer los mejores mejillones y patatas fritas. Great place close by Chalk Farm Underground station. I had a chicken burger and that was really good. They also have a good selection of Belgian beers. Just a place for a beer lover like me.

Estuvimos muy contentos de conseguir una mesa sin reserva - error! Debido a que obtuvimos la última mesa que estábamos en la parte de atrás de la cola y esperamos más de una hora para nuestras comidas, que no valieron la pena ni la espera ni el precio (especialmente cuando nos dimos cuenta demasiado tarde, había un servicio de 12.5%). cargar) . Good quality, great selection of authentic Belgian beers. Came with my sister before seeing a band at the Roundhouse across the road. Strange entrance to the restaurant leads through to a sunken dining hall at the back of the building, unusual vibe - but this was probably only because we had booked really early for dinner and nobody else was there yet!

Belgo is known for its large selection of nice beers and it did not disappoint on this count. Service was friendly, polite and efficient - full marks. The food seems like an afterthought; the moules are ok, the vegan burger is filling but that's about it. The croquettes are fine. Near-empty on Sunday afternoon, atmosphere was non-existent. Hardly worth it even on a Groupon.

We had a lovely dinner here on Saturday, the waitress was really personable and gave great advise on beers. The food was excellent, we had prawns to start and then shared 1/2 chicken and a pot of mussels. We left happy and content! :)

In the area for a gig and fancied something different to the normal eating establishments. This was a really good find, though we were the only people there, it was mid afternoon, the food was cooked fresh and the staff really friendly. By the time we left other customers had started to venture in, this was around 5ish.

We had dinner after been to the movie and the service was excellent and very friendly. The menu and nice and casual, very good serve and good value. The service is very fast and fresh produce.

Walked in at lunch time for a bit of peace and quiet. Great food .... mussels in a pot, fries... and seafood risotto and the white french Chardonnay. The best I have ever had...

Had Sunday lunch here yesterday,pulled duck starter was delicious and freshly made,large portions of chicken for mains,we had a wonderful waitress who nothing was to much trouble.def recommend the chocolate ice cream

Ristorante molto carino con cucina a vista ; staff molto gentile e disponibile. Grande varietà di birra e menu molto vasto. Da provare assolutamente il "pot" di cozze che vengono servite direttamente in pentola con il fondo di cottura...BUONISSIME!!!

Went for lunch with my husband on 28th sept at 1pm, we were the only people in there...we have been to Belgos about 10 times always loved it but this visit has put me off !!! The only waitress was the rudest person I have ever met, tutting at me giving me dirty looks, I was too nervous to ask for another drink or even black pepper for my main. The food was very average, calamari was soggy (not cooked with any attention) it Spoilt a lovely afternoon out. Then the bill came and the service charge of £7.38 was added to our bill, we reluctantly paid it because I didn’t want the confrontation with the rude waitress and we just wanted to get out of there !!! I would like to add we are big tippers and will always tip more than there service charge.... but to be treated like we were an inconvenience was so discusting. Half way through our meal we were rudely told Not to go fir a cigarette break coz the food was on its way, we waited another 15 mins without our food so we got up and went for a cigarette, then on our return also waited further for our main to be served. We love the Belgium beers and like the experience of the bar tender to advise on different tastes but this was not possible with this waitress she was impossible, lazy and so unprofessional.

Been there with tastecard, good starter and moules mains. Desserts to be avoid crepes and waffle cold, hard.. So that's a big no. If you use tastecard be careful at your final bill. Staff a bit opinionated. At the end we got there and we paid the fair amount. General atmosphere not very friendly, maybe cause it was empty and looked a bit not very clean to be honest. I will definitely not going back in this branch, but I will try some other branch when in need of a moules fix.

Been to this branch twice in July (family) and in August 2018 (big group of friends). The food was very good, fresh and delicious. Good beer and food menu. Both occasions were fun and most enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food arrived at the same time despite large group - a good place for office outings.

Opened in 1992 the interior, the menu, the buzz were something special. The staff wore monks tunics and the beer menu knocked your socks off. The food was okay, wholesome rather than special, but the theatre of the visit made each visit a memorable event.

Came here for a groupon menu having heard a lot about Belgo in the past. Main courses were quite average though starters were nice. Had to pay for drinks on top which is expected but the unexpected service charge added in. The trouble with chains is service should be discretionary and will tip above the odds if feels like a place deserves it. This lacked ambience and charm of other places in Camden vicinity.

There are hundreds of places to eat in this area but this place looked pleasant and offered, beer, moules and frittes. What else is the in life? This is a small bar really selling a selection of Belgian beer and typical food. Had the staple of moules, frittes and Duval. Tasty. Decor nothing special but the music was good (1970s to 1980s!)

Went to this restaurant as we were going to a concert at the roundhouse. Perfectly situated and chose it because we had a voucher. But wow! So pleased we did food was excellent and good value - staff were lovely and the service was very good. Highly recommend

Great menu, staff attentive and on the ball. The beer was good (that is why two stars not one). The food was not good. Dry chicken - can't believe an animal died to be treated like that. Hot sauce was just bland ketchup. Avoid

A great chain of restaurants, first time visit to this one and it did not disappoint me. Staff very attentive.

Haber entregado antes que se suponía destinado por la longitud de la cola del Roundhouse, tener billetes de asiento reservado, decidimos ir a la estación local de sentarse en asientos (en vez de la planta de la cola) hasta la cola era de razonable duración. Que es lo que hicimos y disfrutamos de una bebida fría refrescante con buen servicio.

How things can change! I went to Belgo Noord when it was just Belgos - as it was the only one. Back in 1992. And how the place heaved. Then Belgo Centraal in Covent Garden. I remember queues around the block to get in. Amazing buzz.

A very nice place with good quality food but slow and completely unresponsive service. Any seafood is great.

We ate here on a Friday evening. First thing to note numerous people turned away so would recommend booking a table as we did. Drinks and food order taken quickly . We ordered big boy burgers which was fab a burger cooked to order topped...

Brought my partner (a beer enthusiast) here as part of an epic birthday weekend. The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and the selection of beers was brilliant. We had an absolutely lovely dinner and an all round wonderful time.

We always find staff welcoming and attentive. A great place to eat out with family. Great food and value for money. The staff always make it a pleasure to visit. For those interested in beers you'll find any excellent selection. The mussels and chips are...

Mi novio y yo cenamos allí la noche del lunes. Marta la camarera era excelente y muy atento, pero por desgracia mi carne novios tenían que ser enviadas de vuelta dos veces. Mina fue preparado rara la manera en la que pedimos sino porque su fue enviado significaba que estaban comiendo a horas diferentes, no es lo ideal. Él ordenó su solomillo rara, llegó bien hecho. Enviado de vuelta, un nuevo bistec fue preparado raros, pero por desgracia no descansamos porque era frío como el hielo en el medio. Cada vez que nos enviaron de vuelta pudimos ver el chef riendo. La (SUPONGO) jefe salieron a hablar con Marta y averiguar qué pasó pero no hablaba con nosotros y parecía estar riéndose con el otro chef. Cuando la cuenta vino Marta explicó uno de los filetes se descuentan de la factura. Por desgracia nos habían cobrado 3 filetes por tener que cocinar una nueva carne después de la primera estaba bien hecho, este fue el bistec que se deducía así que no había reducción en el coste. No esperaba un precio reducido cuando entramos en el restaurante, pero también se espera un chef competente. Tampoco teníamos y nadie aparte de la preciosa Marta parecía molestar. Marta dieron golpes cortesía aguardiente como ella era bastante claramente la reducción de vergüenza y esperaba en la factura pero registramos con el gerente, quien dijo que no. Esperábamos esta experiencia había vivido hasta el 80 libras, pero estábamos totalmente decepcionante.

Brilliant service. Staff really kind especially Giggs. BEST WAITER EVER. He impressed us as usual by remembering our orders. Been going here for ages now. Went for 11th birthday meal and as usual loved it. Not to mention the Birthday surprise...Recommend all food 11/10!!!

We had a birthday dinner here for our 11-year old this weekend. There were five of us, and Giggs looked after us as he regularly does: he always makes us feel so special by impressing us with remembering what we all most often like to eat and drink! But in addition to this, and the usual delicious food and tasty beers, the staff sang a wonderful surprise Happy Birthday complete with clashing saucepan lids for percussion, and presented us with a complimentary extravaganza of a dessert-cake plus an assortment of amazingly flavoured Schnapps to taste. We had a fabulous night out. Highly recommend! Thank you Giggs for keeping us all happy and giving us a memorable celebration!

This was a most wonderful dining experience! The mussels - cultivated in Scotland, were so delicious. We are from Maine in USA so we really know great seafood when we taste it and this was first class plus! Fresh, perfectly steamed with garlic and herbs. The pommes frites and salad were awesome too. Our only regret is that since it is seafood, doggy boxes are not allowed, but since it was so wonderful we sat there and ate every mussel since we could not bare to waste any. Would go back in a heartbeat!

We've been coming here regularly for several years now. The food is exquisite, with lots of delicious mussels dishes to choose from (my favourite is the Green Thai) and all sorts of stews and other dishes for those otherwise inclined. There is an enormous selection of Belgian beers, and their sides and desserts are wonderful.

We came with our friends from Spain.Mussels and lobster soup proved to be the most accurate. Time was a great cause atmosphere and peaceful melodic music🙂

Really enjoyed a delicious meal - both the mussels and the rotisserie chicken were great - worth exploring a different area of Camden for. Fun atmosphere inside, and the manager went out of his way to make sure we had a great meal.

I came here with my daughter before heading off to the Roundhouse. I love this place. It’s a bit quirky. There is an amazing choice of beers - mostly Belgian which are amazing. I had a sampler 3 x 1/3 pint of different beers - superb. We both went for muscles which were excellent. No closed shells in either of our bowls - never had that before. The flavour was wonderful and the frites were crisp and hot. Must come back again.

19:30 por 2 en un viernes. Llegamos 20 minutos temprano y el lugar estaba lleno. Les dijimos que el grupo estaba ahora 4. Esto no fue un problema y nos acomodaron enseguida. Nos dijeron que el personal que nos dirigirnos a la Roundhouse para un concierto así que necesitábamos para estar a las 20:30. Uno de nuestro grupo era gluten. Marta era nuestro servidor. Ella era muy agradable y nos guió con mucha cortesia alrededor del menú cerveza sacando un par de opciones sin gluten. Aplicado a la comida misma explicando que tomaron alergias muy en serio y sería por la zona de limpieza preparación para asegurarse de nuestra comida los huéspedes no fue contaminado. Salimos a tiempo y tuvimos una experiencia agradable.

Llegamos alrededor de las 7 pm a un medio restaurante vacío pero como no habíamos reservado y nos pusieron en una mesa con otras dos personas. Las mesas de vacío alojado vacía para la duración de la visita.

Saturday dinner. Fantastic experience. Lovely food, nice service and amazing cocktails. Definitely will back.

Arrived at 630 to have a meal before a concert. Ordered drinks and food, however 55 minutes later, no food!! We told them we needed to leave and give us the bill but instead the food arrived. The server said we could have for free, but we couldn’t as, by then, we had no time to spare. They kept apologising, but it would have meant something if they had made a gesture, but instead they took ages to get the card reader and they charged us full price for the few drinks we had! Actions speak larger than words. Would have loved to be doing a review based on their food, but alas, this was not possible. Would not recommend.

I love this place. Food is always fresh and tasty. Last week I had the cod and it was divine. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable. One of the waiters (Giggsy) recommended a selection of beers for us to try and now I'm converted to Belgian tipple! Great atmosphere and with industrial decor make it a great place for any occasion.

Was my second time at this belgo. the first time was really good expirience and made me come back. The second time the service was slow, I need to admited that but the stuff was really friendly and the food delicious. Both times the chef made a special request for me and that was really nice of them!

Went here before going to the Roundhouse. We both ordered Muscles as its there thing, but both the muscles and the sauce were tasteless. Food on other tables looked good. The staff were efficient and friendly.

We visited Belgo in December for a gig at the Roundhouse around Xmas. We waited over an hour to be served. The service was very disorganised, we were frequently trying to catch the waiters eye but were ignored. I’ve been eating at Belgo since they launched in the UK, so was quite surprised by the poor service. We had to eventually leave before finishing as we’d have missed the band.

I have lived in Belgium for several years and having driven past Belgo many times, I was very disappointed when I finally ate there. I expected Belgian fabulous chips and was very disappointed to be served frozen chips. When I questioned the waiter he said they were chilled, not frozen. The waiter was very attentive and helpful but I would not eat there again.

Looking around somewhere in Camden round lunch. This place was a great find, food was delicious and had a great selection of beers. The staff were friendly and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here. Even better that I had a taste card so food was half off.

Food was very good. Served quite quick, warm and tasty.

The food was amazing we had a sharing platter for starters with frites very delicious and a bit too filling therefore I wouldn’t recommend it as a starter as I was so full by the time my main course came. The mussels were well seasoned and fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed them again this is a very big portion and you need to be well starving to manoeuvre it.

We used to love coming here for mussels. But now Belgo seems to have enlarged its menu and gone off the boil. Service was slow and servers kept ignoring us till we went to the bar to order our own drinks. The actual mussels were chewy and pretty insipid

My partner and I went to Belgo last Wednesday before a performance at The Roundhouse. The meal was not bad, but certainly nothing to write home about it.

8 of us went to belgo on our work christmas dinner, we arrived and it took a while to get our food, The food then came and it was freezing cold, one chicken burgar came out and it was really really burnt like charcoal we then sent this back to receive another one that was raw and pink, I was really not impressed with me meal and the survive was very slow

Went here for Christmas dinner. Reasonable prices for Christmas dinner and a good range of dishes, many of which weren't typical Christmas fare. Plenty of space. Lovely manageress and the food came promptly and altogether considering my party were not so! The courses looked small but were actually just filling enough and beautifully presented. Only slight down was the rather shouty waiter but otherwise an excellent restaurant that I would recommend.

The best Christmas party ever!! Food was delicious and on time.We drank a bit more than we planed thanks to our waiter Gigs and manager swan who recommended special beers for us for each course. Impeccable service guys well done and thank you .You made us feel special.

Visited wit 5 friends at 7.45pm and told we we were too drunk after sitting down for 10mins. The restaurant was empty and we were not loud my friends are anything but noisy people. We waited 10 minutes for the manager to tell us our money was not welcome. An absolute disgrace and very embarasing. We left and went next door and spent our well earned cash. I am as ashamed I introduced my friends to that eastablisment. Disgraceful behaviour.

数年ぶりに行くので楽しみにしていました。お店自体が変わったのか、ムール貝で有名なレストランなのに、クリーム系は薄いしガーリック度が高すぎ、タイグリーンカレー味もがっかりな味でした。一緒に行ったフランス人の友達もムール貝にがっかり。スターターのエビはまあまあ、楽しめたのはデザートのバブルです。アイスクリームやトッピングが選べて６ポンドくらい。これは食べ甲斐があって嬉しいです。せっかくムール貝で有名なのだから、もう少し頑張って欲しいです。

Ordered the apparently 35 day aged steak. It tasted like supermarket steak that was overcooked on the grill. Ordered medium rare, came out as well done and burnt which made it extremely bitter. My partner ordered the bad boy burger. That too was burnt and she couldn't eat the bun. Meatballs were cold on the burger too. Overall bad experience, would not recommend going here.

Sarebbe stato di gran lunga più dignitoso se il cameriere mi avesse servito il panino indossando un passamontagna: 15£ per una qualità davvero infima. Carne decisamente troppo cotta e polpette vecchie evidentemente lasciate “decantare” nel frigo per un po’. Lasciato per metà nel piatto assieme a gran parte delle patatine. Mai più.

We love Belgo Noord! The food here is simply fantastic. The moules mariniere are perfect, the beef carbonnade to die for and the Belgian waffle... well I simply don't have the words! There is an incredible selection of beer with the Delerium Tremens a must if you like Belgian beer. Most of all the service is impeccable. Nothing was too much trouble for the manager Giggs who not only gave us possibly the best service we have experienced in a London restaurant but also spent time chatting with us, giving us very good, knowledgeable advice on which beer to choose but mostly for making us feel very comfortable. We recommend Belgo Noord 100% and undoubtedly be definitely be visiting again.

I can understand items missing from the menu say on a Monday, but surely by Tuesday there should be supplies? We got there really early before a Roundhouse concert, having booked, second table taken that evening. I wanted the carbonade, but it was off as were a lot of other things, ordered steak instead. Waited and waited, others arrived and got served. The steak eventually arrived and although it looked pink, there was no juice to it. I think it had been sliced the wrong way. Got it taken off the bill. We asked how long it would take to get a dessert. The waiter then proceeded to take the order from somebody who had only just arrived before asking the kitchen. By that time there was no time left. Second arrivals, there for almost 2 hours, only had time for a very poor steak, there was a chef in the kitchen all the time, but he didn't seem to be doing much. Thank goodness for a Chimay.

My partner and I ate here last night and really regretted our choice. The beer was good and so were the 'traditional' moules. However the red tractor chicken and the frites were a disgrace. The chicken was obviously re-heated, judging by its soggy skin and odd taste. The frites were also soggy and well past their best. We were in a hurry to go to a show but I complained to the waiter when paying. To my surprise he almost commiserated! Obviously we were not the first to complain over very poor food. I will not be repeating my mistake.

Belgo was selected for its proximity to the Roundhouse. We booked a table for that very reason and it was very busy even though its cavernous. Belgo is a reliable chain and we ordered the legendary moules (garlic, celery, white wine) frites. There is a choice of other styles. We ordered bread separately. The moules were served lovely and hot with no empty or broken shells and with crispy chips - mayo as standard and tomato sauce on request. We really enjoyed the mussels. Service was friendly and efficient and we went off towards the gig only to be stopped by the massive queue so we stopped off at the little Belgo bar along the way.....we weren't the only ones. Great barman!

We came here on a Thursday night, terrible experience. It took over 45 minutes for the starter to come, which was just awful (FYI never try the ‘Dirty Grazer’ unless you want to have the taste of undercooked and rubbery average bar food in your mouth for the evening). Two mains were not better, I had chicken which tasted like it had been left for 15 years before being served. My partner had waffles which looked as if they’d been mushed up for someone without teeth to eat. Service was terrible, food was terrible, leaving was the highlight. Avoid at all costs.

I went to Belgo on Saturday with a group of friends just for a few drinks at the bar and we stayed all night. We decided to have dinner in the restaurant afterwards. The food was awesome. We had mussels and they were probably the best I have ever tasted, washed down with Belgium beer recommended by our Polish manager, who looked after us brilliantly and made our evening truly memorable. Everyone was so nice to us and I want to say thank you to all the staff at Belgo. We will definitely come back again and I have already recommended Belgo to my friends.

i had the most nauseatingly disgusting rancid smelling muscles ever. i ate 2 of them and sent the rest back. The restaurant is a dingy basement, smelly and awful. DO NOT DINE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The food, when it finally came, was nice. The service throughout the evening as appalling. The restaurant was only about half fool but the wait was way way too long. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes from the time we came in till when our mains arrived. No one was clearing the tables after other customers left, so all the free tables were covered in empty dishes and glasses. This just looks sloppy and wrong. It took our waiter quite some time to take our order. Than we waited for a while for the wine to arrive, I could see our wine sitting on the bar, for ages. Our starters came some time later. We finished the starters and waited and waited and waited. Then our waiter came over to ask if we got our starters yet. This is quite worrying considering we have been there for over an hour and the restaurant was less than half fool. It was the first time ever I did not pay the service charge as I felt the service was way too bad for it. It is a shame as the food was quite nice.

We ordered 2 things: surf and turf burger and seafood platter.Positives:- Our first waiter was perfect. Really nice and friendly.Negatives:- The burger was cold. The lobster was okay but not as good quality as expected for the price (not entirely sure it was fresh as I had food poisoning later that evening. - The seafood platter was overpriced (Rick Stein's cheaper and better)- A waiter asked to take away my plate before I had finished eating because they wanted the wooden board for another table Overall, we may have just been unlucky but we wouldn't recommend it knowing that this sort of service is a possibility.

We had a dinner there yesterday. There is a large choice of mussels, Belgian speciality, and of course lots of Belgian beer. I was not very happy with my meal, me and my partner both had a burger which was not very tasty and you could clearly see it was made in a rush. That's excusable as this place specializes in other kind of food (I didn't have mussels as I am vegetarian). Waiters were friendly but not very quick. One thing that left me very frustrated - when we were leaving just near the entrance one of the waiters was putting fries into the bowls, and few fries were lying on the floor... good first impression for those who enter the restaurant to see food lying like this on the floor...If Belgo sorts out this problem with cleanliness and food hygiene, it could be a very nice place to have a drink.

Came here a few days ago for a friend's birthday meal as the place we originally booked lost our reservation. The manager (Giggsy!) was so helpful and kind, found us a great table and looked after us - his recommendation and knowledge of beers was excellent! We will definitely come back. Great food too.

We came to belgo on wednesday night for my friend son birthday.Even that place was busy manager took time to find us big enough table for all aof us.Our waitress took our order suggesting different beers for us to try and we realy enjoy them.Food came and it was plentiful and tasy. One of us ordered crab from special menu that was suggested by our waitress and it was delicious and we all feel sorry for not ordering more from that menu.Service was great and staff made us feel welcome and special.They made birthday cake for us and gave us round of belgium liqueurs on the house .Thank you belgo noord we will come back to visit you again

Can't beat the speciality of the house - moules and frites. Beer menu is exceptional too. Great food experience and service!

Very nice atmosphere and lovely staff. I especially recommend the bar, where you can enjoy the view of Camden's streets with a nice Belgian beer in your hand, listening to good music.

Since 4 years, I often came to eat at Belgo Noord, but after the disappointing experience I had on 25th of May, I decided to not go anymore, until a few weeks ago I was convinced by some of my friends to give another chance.We came on 28th of June at around 7pm, straight after our arrival we been welcomed bye Marta which gave us a table on the bar side.Seeing a full restaurant, we were starting to thing that could take a while before to get our food ordering, but fortunately in few minutes we managed to order and we got the first round of drinks.But I was still worried because my insecurity in coming back to Belgo was not for the service, but was for the quality of food which I had on my previous visit.With my friends we ordered a crispy pork belly, a waterzooi fish stew, surf 'n' turf burger and a belgo burger. Despite the busy kitchen (cause of one big group of people behind our table) we received our food on time and everything was amazing and delicious. We also got nice waffles for desserts with a nice white chocolate sauce. After I asked to one of the staff the name of the chef which he cooked for us, I went personally to the kitchen to thanks him to letting me change my idea regarding Belgo and with a very nice italian accent he thanks me to give them another chance. I can ensure that was the best food I ever had in this restaurant.Thank you again Andrea

Everything was really good, Majiec and Sandra were really nice and made us spend a great evening :)The starter was excellent also with the hot bread and our mains as well.

Enjoyed a tasty mussels dinner with friends and couples with the excellent service I found it great value for money! Will come back.

That was my second visit in Belgo Noord. Delicious food and fantastic range of Belgium beers.Thank you so much for amazing service.Definitely recommend.

After our walk along the regents canal from our home in Islington to Camden lock we knew there was only one place we could go Belgo's!! We love belgos and have been to the Camden one before but a while ago. The bar area was empty. To be fair it had only opened half an hour before had. The manager and waiter were brilliant and friendly. The bar area is smaller than the other belgos but had good music playing and comfy chair to enjoy the delicious Belgium beers on offer. We also had the meat platter which is gorgeous the pate is to die for. The waiter was chatty and made sure we had everything we needed.

Never been to this restaurant before, food very good, staff run off there feet, and if you want to hear your companions conversation forget it. Would not go again purely on the fact of the noise levels. Also they are known for there beers and if you go on the website it is very informative, When you look at the menu in the restaurant they don't give any description, and because the staff are so busy and it is so noisy, we did not ask any questions, why not have the description of beers in the paper menu!

We booked this restaurant due to the vast variety of beer they had and we were not disappointed. We had a star deal which was 3 courses & a drink for £19.50 which is amazing value. Neither of us could fault any of the dishes and the beer was great. The service was lovely too and overall had a great night and would definitely recommend it.

this place was the once Uber, but that was 15 years ago and it hasn't changed a bit since then apart from the fact that waiters are no longer dressed as Trappist monks! Belgo is still good fun, great value, has a good vibe and attentive service. Starters: chicken liver pâté and lobster bisque were superb, main course moules mariniere was a bit dried out but the waterzooi was excellent. waffles highly recommended for dessert (if you still have space - generous portions!)

Very nice lunch, good prices for the amount of food, I do recommend the mussels. But the waitresses were so in a rush to take off our almost finish plates.

It's been years since I keep coming back to Belgo. Why? The food is delicious, they ever growing mussels sauces options are genius, always fresh, but the real secret is the service. Outstanding atmosphere, you get that feeling of being looked after but without interruptions. Food is served timely and in good manner, they really know what they're doing, and it shows. The one and only place in London for lobster or mussels (without breaking your wallet too). Simply wicked.

Whether you want a chilled lunch with your partner over a beer or a friends night out this place is great! The beer is wonderful and so are the beer cocktails! The food is great and fresh and the service is one of the best I have had in london. We usually come once every couple of months and it is never disappointing :)

First time to Belgo and totally loved this place.Great staff, food, atmosphere and drinks selection. Sat here for hours just catching up. Very relaxing and cool place to eat or just have a few drinks.

We love going to Belgos. And last night the mussels we had were lovely. But we ordered two sides of bread and fries. The mussels arrived with no sides. We asked for them and the fries arrived after a while and hey were cold. It took a while to grab another waiter (they were very busy) and he said absolutely new fries would come. And they did... eventually but still no bread. But that arrived a little more eventually. And when we were finished it was obvious I had been given a short portion. Photo attached. Do they need more staff at busy times? And since when is the automatic service charge is 12.5%? I thought it was 10%. A bit cheeky considering.

I went for a table of 1, absolutely would do it again here! They had a very friendly atmosphere, all waiters/waitresses smiled at me when I arrived, and amazing food as well! I unfortunately left my bag of shopping there, they handled fuss-free. I got it back in no time and am a very happy customer and would recommend to all!!!

It's nearly 9 months since my last visit to Belgo, when my review was not totally favourable. However this time I was really impressed. I booked the table for 8 of my Foodie Group about 3 weeks ago, so called today to make sure they were still expecting us....and was surprised to be greeted by my name! The fact that the Manager remembered my name without having to consult his diary made me feel a valued customer.I gave a lift to one of the group who has a disability and she had difficulty in negotiating the steep stairs. However, the Maitre d' came over to me and assured me that they would open up their private side door to allow us egress without having to negotiate the stairs...which they did. He also said that for future visits we should remind him and he would open the door on our arrival.There is an excellent choice of dishes, but I decided to try the Waterzooi Fish Stew, which was delicious and came with artisan bread for mopping up the beer and cream sauce. The stew was packed with mussels, cod, prawns and other delicacies and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Other members of my group ordered sole, mussels, steak, salad, etc. etc. and all were delighted with their choices. Several of them also ordered starters and desserts....all of which looked superb and, I'm assured, tasted every bit as good as they looked!Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely waiters,who contrived to make our evening extremely enjoyable. Oh yes....and they also take Tastecard, giving us a 50% discount on the food element.The had also arranged an oval table for us and were not put out in the slightest when two extra guests turned up unannounced halfway through our meal and immediately set two extra places at each end of the table.Certainly a place to return....and soon!

The usual nice moules and beer but ... like Camden itself all a bit down at heel now. The restaurant felt a little untidy - not exactly dirty but it could definitely blood with a good old Spring clean. Nice staff.Just needs jazzing up a bit

We went to Belgo to celebrate a birthday and it was a really good idea. The mussels were fresh and nice and the stuff find for us a table in a super busy Friday. Special thanks to "magic" Maciej for his help choosing the beers and his outstanding service.

This Camden branch I think was Belgo's first, and it's 25 years old this year. Thankfully they have dropped the rather corny trappist monks' cloaks the waiters had to wear. The restaurant decor is a little tired retro style, but light and airy at the back with large roof windows that flood the place with natural light. Tables and chairs more functional than comfortable. Their Covent Garden branch I remember as being in the basement, so no natural light. They've maintained their 'moules, frites, biers' mainstay menu, with some new twists (a Thai version, my partner said was delicious) but as I don't eat mussels myself, it's always dependent on what else they can offer. I had their whole lobster, with frites. Very good, though pricey at £29. One son had moules again, and the other fish (beer batter) and chips, which was excellent. There's also burgers, chicken and a couple of vegetarian options.They'll happily discuss and recommend the Belgian beer range. With a handful of nibbles and starters, 4 mains including an as-expected expensive (and slightly overpriced) lobster, total bill £113 incl service, so about £28 a head.Belgo's has around 4 or 5 branches in total in London, and they have managed to maintain a nicely novel niche if you like moules, with wider choices of other food and of good enough quality to recommend a visit.

With Belgo, you always know what you're getting: the best fries of any restaurant chain (seriously, they are just too yummy!) and nice, big portions. A major plus is that I have a tastecard, so with 50% off, the value is unbeatable. I come here often for a drink and bite to eat with friends, the atmosphere is nice and social. It's always relatively busy at least. Would recommend!

Belgo is such an amazing place to taste a lot of different dishes. From cheesy starters to delicious steaks.Belgo in Chalk Farm Rd, London is the one I always visit with my friends when I get a weekend off from work.Awesome food + very kind staff = 5 stars.

I took my mum here for here birthday and we had a great time. The manager Giggs and the staff were very friendly and attentive, and the food and beer were spot on.It's very likely that we'll be back next year!

Enjoyed the lunch time special with a friend; a pot of moules and fries with a choice of sauces for just £7.50 per portion. For London this represents good value and was suffice with a bottle of Belgium beer to keep us going till early evening.The establishment is large and very stark and needs a lot of people to create an atmosphere. At lunch time this was not the case. Belgo Noord is very close to the Roundhouse and I would imagine to be very popular in the evenings. The staff are pleasant and courteous.

Was recommended to us and didn't disappoint. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. The cheesy beer croquettes were a great starter and the muscles were perfect - not a single closed or empty shell.

We came here to celebrate my son's birthday. Being midweek, the restaurant was very quiet so we thought service would be attentive and quick. At the time of booking I asked if they could do something to mark the birthday and they said they would be able to bring out a desert with a candle and sing. Perfect.Sadly our evening was not quite as I'd imagined. We arrived starving and ordered a platter to share and moules for everyone. A lot of time was spent by one waiter going through the beer menu and recommending bottles rather than draft beer. After ordering we were pretty much ignored for 40 minutes. My son was so hungry he couldn't wait any more so when I went to ask, I was told the moules would just be coming. (After 45 mins!!) They had forgotten the starter platter completely.A rather austere and not particularly apologetic man, who I assume was the manager, sorted out the problem and we enjoyed the food.We then ordered desert quickly as it was a school night and everything had taken so long. My son's desert was put in his place - again, they had completely forgotten about doing anything for his birthday (even though I had reminded them in arrival!) I had to ask the waiter to take it away quickly before my son (who had left his seat and hadn't seen the arrival of desert) spotted it and got upset that I was sending it back (or figured out what I was up to!)Again, it was sorted out (again without an apology or much friendliness or care) and the starter was comped, but it the feel of the evening was spoiled a bit and it was a much later night than we had planned.Verdict: food is delicious, but there is zero customer attention or care, so definitely wouldn't recommend for a special occasion or if you care about the service you get. Such a shame as this is my local branch.

We tried to book at short notice but no one answered the phone so we decided to take a chance. When we arrived the restaurant was busy and it seemed full. We were approached by the manager who looked around quickly and said they are full in a rude manner, when we asked why don't they answer the phone he said they are too busy to answer. He didn't suggest for us to wait until a table is free and seemed to care less. I think he wanted to turn people away because he was too tired and wanted some rest. Even if the place is busy there no excuse for such a poor attitude.

I have always enjoyed Belgian and my recent visit was no exception. Despite there being fifteen of us there were no issues with our orders or the service. Delicious beers and spot on food as always. I tried the duck croquettes for the first time on this visit and would highly recommend them!
