The service is always friendly and the ladies are very attentive. The food is prepared fresh and is delicious. The chef, who I believe is the owner, is very talkative and friendly too. I visit regularly for different purposes, sometimes business meetings over a breakfast or sometimes just for a bite and am never disappointed.

Now , if anyone is in the oxted area and fancys a very posh and filling full english , guys I kid you not,compliments to the chef. Staff very friendly and welcoming will feed you proper im stuffed , left very happy. 5 🌟

The food here is wonderful - generous portions, well sourced, high quality fresh ingredients all prepared in a wholesome, home-cooked style. Hats of to the chef and the lovely attentive staff. The chicken cesar salad is my favourite and my husband loves the steak and ale pie for a truly hearty lunch. The cakes available and the breakfast menu are also excellent. Amazing omlette, with choice of fillings. You won't be disappointed!

I can honestly say this is the best coffee shop we have been to. It's always worth us to make a special journey from South Croydon to have our coffees etc.. at this lovely place, the coffees are really good. The food is excellent quality and plenty of it, especially the breakfasts, it's cooked lovely and fresh by Steve the owner and chef, and it's always cooked to perfection. They also do a lovely selection of cakes. It's comfortable and welcoming, they wait on the table which is lovely and the staff are so nice and friendly, especially Mica, but they are all great. Even during lock down we were able to get our take away coffees and bacon sandwiches from Steve and his staff, they really care about their customers.

Meet my best friend for a catch up, we googled a few places and decided to try Cafe Papillion. We were not disappointed. Food was amazing, staff were friendly and helpful and a good price too. This will definitely be our new middle way meeting place.

We popped into Cafe Papillon as they had homemade soup on the menu - and what a delicious soup it was! Creamy roasted butternut squash. It was silky smooth and so delicious. Served with toasted baguette and butter on the side. Delicious cakes for dessert - we had coffee and walnut and a gluten free coconut and cherry cake (just because it looked good not because we're gluten free!!). Coffee was great too. All round a great find. Will definitely come back here. Staff friendly and efficient and good to be able to see the chef at work.

I used to be a massive fan of your Sausage Rolls. They were literally the best I've ever had and I'm a bit of an expert. I'd recommend them far and wide. However based on my last two experiences I'm guessing they are no longer cooked fresh daily and that is showing in the taste and texture. You obviously don't cut back on indgredients to please don't drop your standards. The people of Oxted love your cafe and your Sausage Rolls but please go back to making them fresh every day.

Fairly bland atmosphere Coffee was good flavour however not too hot Prices were reasonable although when ordering a sandwich i expect more than pre cut sliced bread from a place like this Staff eere fairly friendly Much better places in town however so a once only visit

I was visiting Oxted to go to the charity shops and stopped off at Cafe Papillon to have the full English Breakfast. I was not disappointed.Everything was cooked to perfection including the poached eggs that I requested.You could tell that they were using good quality ingredients. I have been a regular visitor for several years and it is great to see this friendly cafe reopen following lockdown. The staff are very good always polite, attentive and welcoming. Special call out for Steve who is always happy for a quick chat despite being hard at it in the kitchen. The food as always is excellent, prepared to order with individual customer requirements always catered for. The team have taken great care to ensure that in reopening post COVID lockdown, they have made the required changes to ensure the safety of both customers and staff and I felt perfectly safe this morning during my regular visit. Well done and thank you. A special call out for the cakes which make a great takeaway treat. Highly recommended for breakfast lunch and dinner for all the family.

My partner and I had a late Breakfast on A damp Saturday. The 1st day restaurants were allowed to open again with Lockdown easing.As we hadn't eaten out for 4 months we were a little apprehensive about safety measures but needn't have worried at all. It was all carefully done and even though they sanitised regularly it was done subtly and there was no whiff of disinfectant!I had the Mediteranean breakfast (tomato, cucumber, goats cheese, fruit and very fresh bread and partner has smoked salmon, hash browns, scrambled eggs with toast.All very fresh and tasty!BTW my partner admitted he had popped in for coffee and cake before instead of breakfast. Looking at the cake/pastry cabinet I could see how he was tempted!

I feel it’s a bit of a shame. The place could be really good but the service is bad and it’s all a bit old fashioned.You can sit in there when it’s empty and wait five mins or more for someone to approach and see if you want to order.Breakfast lasts till 11am and lunch starts at 12pm so if you go in between those times the offer is limited. Just sausage rolls and cakes.The food is actually good when I have been.I find Toast the other side of the station has a better offering.

My friend and I stopped for coffee and cake at the Papillon during a cycle ride along the North Downs Way. There is seating both inside and outside. The service was friendly and efficient, the coffee and cake excellent, and the price very reasonable. We would highly recommend the Papillon.

My wife and I visit quite often to cafe papillon and are never disappointed! We are always greeted with a smile and happy staff, even when they are busy they make you aware they will be with you shortly. The chef is always happy to help when needed, and makes a delicious cooked breakfast. We've been there when other customers are having a bad day and take it out on the staff which I believe the main girls have been there since the beginning and clearly know what they are doing. Some people have nothing better to do than moan and write things on trip adviser if they aren't happy and don't get what they want. We travel from Reigate to eat here and will definitely be returning. Chin up girls about these bad reviews, see you for breakfast tomorrow!

Visited Oxted a few times and everytime im drawn too this place the food is great!! I highly recommend the steak baguette comes with chips and salad on the side also the staff are very friendly always there too help if needed! Definitely visit if your passing through Oxted!!

We used to enjoy our visits to Cafe Papillon. However on our last two visits on a Saturday they have been serving breakfast all day through to 5.00pm. Apparently this is due to school holidays although it was difficult to understand why that should be an issue, particularly as they had a full complement of staff.

Don’t bother. Staff are really slow. Sit behind the counter rather than coming to serve you. I sat there for over five minutes and no one served me, spoke to me, or cared when I walked out. Try Toast the other side of the high street. V good.

Partly as a counterbalance to a recent negative review, but mainly to express our thoughts: we wanted to try somewhere other than the pretentious other cafe outlet in Oxted, and were persuaded by the many positive reviews.

Gave it a try on Saturday 2nd as our preferred place for late brekky in the town was full.

Been twice in the last couple weeks having ignored Cafe Papillon previously as it is on the quiet side of Oxted Station. Our loss. Had a fabulous full English, and the other half Eggs Florentine which was very good too. Service was prompt cheerful and informed. Coffee which we are both keen on was easily the best we have had in Oxted way better than the "Chains" and Lifestyle coffee shops in the town. It was full on both occasions we have been in I now now way. If you can get past the basic decor you will be in for a pleasant surprise.

Lovely friendly atmosphere with lots of delicious cakes available and a very good latte. They do not do a Chai Latte which would have given them a full mark but not everyone knows about this coffee.

I had the steak baguette and chips for lunch Fri 21st Dec and I have to say that it was absolutely delicious!!! The steak was seasoned to perfection and melted in your mouth... the chips were nice and crispy and were also nicely seasoned. Incredibly tasty... you’ll be pushed hard to find a better steak baguette IMO!! Compliments to the chef!

I visited Cafe Papillon earlier today it was very busy and the food and service was fantastic thankyou to the lovely waitresses that served me and my family I will defiantly be back the chicken bacon avocado salad was amazing well presented and to be honest to much to eat so may go for the bacon and Brie salad next time the soup my mum had I want to learn to make defiantly worth checking out five star

went in on a monday kitchen looked dirty needed a good clean,no extraxtor fan working which meant absolutly stunk letuce pre cut browni g edges burger had a very odd taste it was for my kids but returned it again looked abd tasted old thought it would be fresh chicken but precooked and air burnt around edges few bad habits from the chef and wIt staff if you have an open kitchen make sure you wash hands before handli g food waiting to be collected in front of customers photos of celebreties from 2012 certainly not now , i would avoid altogether

I’ve been in a few times for coffee, breakfast, lunch. Not only is the service from the waitresses impeccable, the food is cooked to absolute perfection. You can see your food being prepared, always good! Also, the prices and portions are exceptionally good. Would recommend!

Have to say I thought the traditional breakfast was as good as it gets . Visited here on two occasions and found it to be spotlessly clean and the service tip top . Even on our Saturday visit when the place was constantly full we were well looked after . Excellent value and would highly recommend .n

Once again we had a great family breakfast on Fathers Day, despite being extremely busy service and quality of food was excellent.

Went in for an early breakfast, the deluxe full english is great value for money and very tasty and filling. I saw many other of the breakfast meals being served as well and they all looked very good, especially the eggs benedict. Will definitely be back to try out the lunch menu!

OK food but worst service in Oxted. Living nearby, Papillon always seems very convenient. But in the several tines I have been I have either been ignored for so long that I ultimateky went elsewhere or the waitress was in the middle of taking my order and then was ordered by the chef to dk skmething else, then ignored me. It is also extremely impractical for prams, wheelchairs etc. I have finally learnt my lesson and will nkt be going again. Seems like they do not want people's business

We went here for Fathers Day breakfast. My daughter has just got out of hospital after 6 months. She had leukaemia and has had a transplant. The chemo has affected her taste buds so finding foods that taste ok is hard. She is also on high dose steroids which gives her cravings. She ordered chips at 12.30 and we ordered our breakfasts. Our food came out but no chips. I asked where they were and the waitress was very apologetic and said that she was sorry that they were part of the lunch menu. Ok, but it was 12.30. Apparently chips are available everyday except Sunday! It wasn’t her fault but it wasn’t great because we then sat and ate whilst my daughter ate nothing. When paying, I complained that it wasn’t really ok. The guy that cooks who I have no idea if he was management or not was completely missing my point. He apologised and gave me the money for the chips and said he didn’t know what else I expected him to do. He kept talking over me. I was merely trying to say that it needed to be clearer that chips weren’t part of the menu on a Sunday. If we’d known we would have gone elsewhere. He tried saying they had been really really busy but that is really not my problem. We just wanted a family breakfast for fathers day. Days like today are very special for the reasons stated above and I’m also five months pregnant and the whole thing has really upset me. The saying might be don’t cry over spilt milk..... in this case it’s chips! I absolutely will not ever go back. Waitress lovely, the management suck!

I love this place, especially for breakfast. Lovely spot outside when the sun is out in the summer..I sometimes go after the school run too, but can only grab a coffee at that time as they stop selling food at a certain time...

The people are SO friendly, kind and helpful, and the service is excellent. Match that with great food and drink, and you have brilliant place to go with friends or on your own.

I use this café every week to order food for our work. They are guaranteed business every week, yet, they always sound so annoyed at our orders. It is like it is a pain for them to cook for us. We are always polite, turn up when it should be ready and never complain when they get our orders wrong. I wouldn't normally bother writing a review but I hope they read this and have a little think about the way they talk to their customers. Just this morning I called and made an order, the man on the phone couldn't wait to hang up the phone (didn't even say goodbye or let me know when to collect the order). I think the price we pay for a sandwich is too much but the options available for breakfast in Oxted are limited. If there was another café opened I wouldn't hesitate about never ordering from here again. Be a bit more grateful of the business coming to you before you lose the business you currently get.
