Sorry to say that this is a limited cafe and lost its magic from when the Wafflemeister was there. Need to look at the menu and offer a wider range of products. Unappealing to say the least. Assume they were left high and dry when waffle meister pulled out, but surely they can offer similar type products for families. Cost £40 to buy a waffle machine. Even the drinks on offer is such a small collection. Such a waste.

This place was a favourite of ours years ago with great sandwiches and cakes but it's gone right down hill. The position is amazing with wonderful lake views and was alive with small birds visiting the feeders. No feeders now equals very few birds. I think the most depressing aspect is everything is "disposable". Paper plates and cups and wooden utensils aren't pleasant to eat and drink from. Very little choice of food, which was just "ok", nothing special or memorable. Very few customers and I can see why, it was cold and felt sad and soulless. Management need to revert to how it used to be if they want to succeed.

To be told “Pick up your litter“ in abrupt & rude manner when it was cardboard on our table from food purchased here was disgraceful .Wasn’t even busy at the time .Give us a cloth and we’ll wipe down the tables for you as well .Didn’t realise I was in McDonalds . At least the staff are pleasant there .I would advise the man on duty to step out a few yards and witness the service in the gift shop next door .Can’t be faulted .Definitely won’t be visiting this establishment on our next visit to Kielder

We visited here today, having been last year when it was called the Wafflemeister. Sadly, it’s now a very average cafe. Seem to have a lack of staff as tables were vacant but full of the previous occupants debris. Shortage of food (no ham sandwiches, no sausage rolls). The menu is limited….and sadly no waffles, despite being the same owners. It could be so much better.

We assumed the cafe was closed. We walked in and someone was hoovering and it took a while to catch her eye. She said it was open but was hoovering as it was empty. We ordered a coffee and hot chocolate to drink in. They came in paper cups which was a shame. There was a lovely looking carrot cake with a huge amount of frosting on the top so we ordered a slice. We were given the end slice which had no frosting and was extremely dry. We threw it in the bin. The cafe was empty, not far from closing time. Why give your only customers one slice with no frosting when you had a whole cake to choose from? Frustrating and wont return.

So pleased it was open despite the virus! Had nice slice of cake and a coffee served (as usual) by attentive staff.

Popped in for a coffee and a snack. If you don't want ice cream or waffles don't bother. coffee was tepid waffle was half cooked and the man serving used his hygienic blue gloves to open till pick up money etc as well as handle food. Will not be going back.

Went here for brunch on Wednesday. On arrival inside looked lovely. Got told we could sit anywhere, it was empty. We asked for a menu and were directed to the blackboard on the wall; but then were told our options were either a sausage or bacon bap only. The food was satisfactory, but nothing exciting. Wish we had gone somewhere else.

Provided a welcome stop for coffee and cake when cycling round Kielder Reservoir. The selection of cakes was fantastic. Definitely recommend the carrot cake. My partner is a bit of a carrot cake connoisseur and rates it as one of the best he's every had!

Tasty food although not the cheapest, there was no children's menu and they even refused to heat up baby food. The two front of house staff looked like it was the last place they wanted to be, and although not rude they weren't very welcoming. The cafe is nicely decorated and you get good views across the reservoir.

I have visited this café for years and always been pleased with a great choice of meals, sandwiches, drinks etc. I arrived on 6/7/14 to find a very slow moving queue snaking out of the door, when I moved inside I looked around for a menu, nothing on walls, nothing on tables. I asked someone serving behind the counter for a food menu, he pointed to a small handwritten sign for a choice of three sandwichs,i asked about meals, he again pointed to the sign as if I was asking a stupid question and said that's all they do ! . I would of walked out there and then but was starving after a long ride and bought a sandwich and a cup of tea and was charged over £7 ! This used to be a lovely café with great food , don't know what,s happened here but I won,t be returning in a hurry that's for sure !

We visited here for lunch on a stunningly beautiful warm day. The cakes and scones looked delicious, but are openly displayed on the serving counter which can't be very hygienic. We ordered soup, described as garden vegetable but which turned out to be very strongly tomato based and not to my taste. Not really garden vegetable, at all. I then ordered a brown bread tuna and sweet corn sandwich (my husband ate my soup as well) - very dry, quarter stottie filled with tuna and sweet corn with not enough mayonnaise. It was accompanied by a very small portion of salad and one of coleslaw. The salad was almost entirely composed of red onion. It cost £5.95. I found it inedible. We were really disappointed with the quality and the range of food that was available. Having been to Richard Sim's places before, we couldn't quite believe it. I know that it must be hard to manage food turnover in such a remote place, but there must be ways round that, surely. Ditching the inedible stotties would be a start. On the plus side, the staff were lovely. The ice cream was delicious although the freezer is working intermittently and so it was amazingly hard. Luckily the sun was warm and we were able to sit outside in the sun until it melted!

Okay, so the May Day Bank holiday did surprise us all, who thought the weather would be so good on a British Bank Holiday Monday but there really was no excuse for the atrocious organisation.

This cafe in Hexham has a great atmosphere for a supermarket cafe. The staff are friendly and the food is great.
