This cafe is a lovely independent cafe with very attentive service from the owner and the waitresses. It is long time since I’ve been in a cafe and felt the personal touch that this lovely cafe gave us. We arrived quite late on a Saturday and were advised that some of the hot food couldn’t be served but could still do jacket potatoes and recommended the pulled pork to my husband - which was devine with a very genius serving of meat. I had a cheese jacket potato with salad which was very tasty. Nothing was too much trouble. The cakes all looked amazing and my husband had a freshly baked black cherry Bakewell covered in almonds which was delicious. I couldn’t resist the chocolate fudge cake and was heavenly. We were not rushed and it was lovely to chat with the owner. It was way better than any experience in any of the chain cafes. We will definitely return and recommend it to our friends and family. The prices were really good at about £5.95 for a jacket potato. 2 meals, 2 deserts and 2 drinks for less than £30. This cafe is ideal for couples, families and singles

We stumbled upon this cafe while we were wandering around Ripon and are so pleased that we did. The staff, especially the owner, were extremely friendly, polite and helpful. The tables and cutlery were spotlessly clean, the food was delicious and fresh, I also enjoyed the coffee. The cakes were also excellent, freshly baked on site. Pricing was very reasonable too. Overall we really enjoyed our visit and will definitely return when we’re back in the area. Highly recommended.

Went to Ripon on a day trip. Found this lovely & friendly cafe. Plenty of choice & good value. We had a good chat with all the staff and because there was five of us put a chair at the end of a table for us all to sit together. Would definitely recommend another visit.

The staff were wonderful and went above and beyond to get my little girl the cooked breakfast she had set her heart on. When it arrived it was perfect. They also had the best gluten free bread I’ve tried! We will definitely be back for another meal.

Looking for a quick light lunch we headed into this little cafe - what a find. My husband had a beautifully light Victoria sponge, plenty of jam and butter cream filling, and a good portion. I ordered a ham sandwich and couldn't help but burst out laughing when it arrived; it was enormous, generous to a fault, lovely bread and beautiful ham with no stinting on the quantity of ham, or the quality. Really good value, but do not expect delicate little sandwiches with the crusts cut off - this isn't that sort of venue!! Sadly my photo doesn't do justice to the sandwich...

On a rainy day in the Easter week we found this lovely cafe, right on the market square near Ripon’s fabulous cathedral. There’s a bit of choice in this location but we had good advice from locals while paying for parking just outside in the Square. Very friendly staff, excellent coffee, and a surprisingly fresh choice of food at very reasonable prices. For lunch my husband enjoyed a BLT sandwich, and I had a brilliant smoked salmon and mozzarella quiche made by the chef. Beautifully presented! Highly recommended.

We were in Ripon whilst caravanning in the area and wanted some lunch. There are loads of places in the square but we like to support the local businesses where we can, and the Cafe on the Square had a good rating from the local council. We were in about 12:15 and managed to get seated in the window. A pleasant young lady came to clean the table and brought us menus. We both had Paninis and a pot of tea, ordering and paying at the counter. When the food came, it was well presented, and tasted as good as it looked. The pot of tea was spectacular …….. a proper pot of decent tea, we must have had 6 cups from it, and we were asked if we wanted more hot water. All in all a great local Cafe with good service, tasty food and a cracking cup of tea.

I will always try and support small businesses and that's why my friends and me chose to go here. You get what you pay for. Nothing wrong with the food, though not impressed with the service.

The staff are great. They accommodated our new baby and made sure we had room for the pram. The food is the best quality whenever we come. Every time we come it makes me think why we didn't eat there before this year!.

Stumbled on this little eatery while visiting Knaresborough on a Sunday lunch time. We went in to get maybe a sandwich and thought it wasn’t going to be great to be honest but ended up having a cooked lunch and it was so good! The place was busy and you could tell they were locals as they were chatting across to each other. We looked at the menu and decided to have have a cooked meal. I ordered pie chips and peas and my husband a burger with chips salad and coleslaw and a pot of tea. You could actually get a 3 course Sunday lunch for £14.50! When mine came there were no peas but another bowl soon arrived full of fresh vegetables and a big jug of gravy. Food was really good the staff were lovely. The lady said that as she had been cooking Sunday lunches she gave me some of the veg. We were thoroughly impressed and wouldn’t hesitate to visit again. Great food and great value for money! Definitely worth trying!

Recently stayed for 3 nights whilst at a conference. All of the staff were incredibly welcoming and chatty, room (no.4) was clean, comfortable, spacious and homely. The Full Yorkshire Breakfast was the absolute star of the show, best I've had in years, and the location spot on for the town centre shops and bars and conference centre. Highly recommend staying here

Popped in whilst looking for a quick lunch. Very unusual setting for a tea room but works well with about 10 tables set up between the pews & the altar. The pews act as an overflow area if all tables are taken but we arrived as one was being vacated. Very friendly staff, a relaxing atmosphere and excellent value for money. Menu is limited to a choice of rolls, soup and a tempting range of homemade cakes & scones. Rolls could have improved if pickle, mustard or mayonnaise had been offered but the cakes & scones made up for this as they were very nice. The church itself is a delightful building and worth a visit in it’s own right. An interesting alternative lunch option.
