The savouries seems fine, but the cakes are another story. Today I saw little black flies hovering over the cakes and some crawling on them, especially around the chocolate cakes. Forget the fact they are so expensive, this is not hygeinic and made me feel quite unwell. Luckily as they do cost so much I doubt many people will buy them, but it's just grim.

I have no issue with the savoury items, the price seems OK, but the cakes seem too expensive. The building used to be a bakery with really big and quite cheap cakes, but the cakes in this cafe are really expensive for their modest sizes ie. £2.50 for something that should realistically be priced at £1.50. I don't know how many cakes they sell, but there are always lots there late in the day and I think that if they were cheaper they would sell a lot more as they look tasty, but I can't justify forking out 2.50 for a small looking cake and I'm sure other's must feel the same. If this was in cental Brighton or a posh part of Hove then maybe they would sell at those prices, but not in this location.

Great little local cafe with lots of choice to eat in or takeaway. I regularly pop in for a coffee and a snack or a lunch (they can have cabinets of ready to eat food but also a menu they'll make up on-demand). Strongly recommend popping in if you're in Hangleton. It's been a lovely addition to the area since it opened last year.

We booked for Sunday lunch and travelled down from Surrey. The restaurant was virtually empty which made for a rather atmosphere less vibe. It didn’t help that there was a member of staff cleaning the mirror and table legs as we were eating our lunch. The Sunday lunch per se was ok, nothing impressive.

Not been to the Carvary for sometime, i met my Niece last week for a catch up we both really enjoyed the food, they even had gluten free gravy! Toilets were clean too.

Unfortunately, even though there were many things right I'll be avoiding this place. The service was impeccable, good beer, perfect lighting and lovely music. So what was wrong? A coven of aggressive women believing they ran the place because they'd booked a table. At their request the music, that I'd been enjoying, was turned off so they could conduct their meeting whilst sipping peppermint tea. I'd suggest a pub isn't an ideal place for this sort of thing. Especially if you're hell-bent on spoiling the atmosphere for everyone else. Sadly, they're regulars.
