The staff were great, but the place is filthy. There is dirt and crap in the AC unit and extract fans, and behind the contour is unbelievably dirty.

The coffee machines and surrounding areas were filthy and were swarming with flies. They were only serving coffee in paper cups due to staff shortages. As these were hot and slippy to hold, I requested a regular cup for my elderley Mum to avoid a scalding issue and was told no. Will avoid in future

Very quiet late Friday afternoon, popped in for two coffees. No problem ordering or being served. Where to sit - majority of tables had empty cups, plates, wrappers and unfinished food & drinks. I moved some from one table to another. There was a lad sweeping the floor, passing & under the tables. He then got a filthy smelly mop & followed the pattern. Astonishingly, a customer came in to order coffees and food which the lad served without washing his hands. Came back to sweeping/washing before back behind the counter to serve more coffee, still no hand washing. Tables remained uncleared throughout our 20 mins stay.

Friendly staff and very helpful. Warm and cosy. Problem with my coffee, too strong but the chap changed it no bother. One let down..toilets need scrubbed out! Disgraceful. If I hadn't been on hols I would have done them for them!

Extremely busy but staff still friendly and polite. Gorgeous carrot cake! Very impressed at cleanliness of toilets, given there was only one for customers and there were up to 10 people queueing at any one time!

Popped in to the Cafe Nero in York City Center. The coffee wasn’t as good as is normal for this place and the service lacked any real conviction. Social distancing didn’t seem to be organised very well either. I gave it 3 stars simply because they looked under staffed.

To be fair , the coffee was fine however the whole place looked a shambles , dirty tables , long queues with nowhere to sit when you eventually were served without having to move a mountain of dirty cups first . Would not repeat the experience. I hadn’t banked on feeling the need to have wipes handy before sitting down . Cafe Nero , get some staff in dedicated to clearing the tables !

The cafe was clean and tidy. It is usually busy, however on this visit was plenty of room. Good selection of food. Nice coffee, and cake. Worth a visit.

I tend to avoid the chains and this coffee didn’t do anything to change my mind. If you are visiting a chain then to my taste Costa is better coffee. For those with young kids then I think the babycino was free for a small cup

When visiting any town we always seek out a Cafe Nero, their coffee is consistently good and if you drink decaf like me then you are in for a treat, it is the best you will find anywhere!

We often stop for a coffee here on our visit to the outlet. It never seems to be a miss. I was even served on this occasion by someone who was clearly new but she was very pleasent and it was still spot on. We both had a slice of cake too and this was good quality nice and light.

We are fans of cafe Nero coffee so always make time for a coffee stop, but sometimes it’s not easy to find a seat.

We stopped here for a break while shopping. There was a small queue but the the baristas soon worked their way through so we hardly had to wait. We found a seat and enjoyed the freshly made drinks (and biscuit for my husband). Great outlet and great drinks.

Sat on a very comfortable sofa drinking coffee what’s not to like. I had a skinny latte and my husband a grande cappuccino. Good service from the man serving us. Very busy and tables cleared quickly.

Over £6.00 for two drinks; a coffee and an iced drink. We had to queue, with my pet hate, people grabbing seats before they have ordered, so when you have yours, there's nowhere to sit. I carried our drinks up the narrow, steep stairs and sitting where we could on an old sofa, dirty table, with other people's rubbish on the floor. More narrow stairs down to the toilets where I once again queued for the ladies; shabby and inadequate for the number of customers. In my opinion, the whole building (3 floors) isn't geared up for so many people; 'bums on seats' with all the staff concentrating on 'banging out' as many orders as possible.

The staff seemed bored, with a take it or leave it attitude and although the coffee was OK I was annoyed to be charged 10p extra because I asked for decaf. That was not mentioned anywhere on the price lists on display!

Lovely cafe Nero. Visited on what must have been the busiest time of year, on a rainy Sunday in the school hols, but regardless I enjoyed a lovely salted and caramel pistachio Frappuccino. Would recommend! Thank you for the great service

Popped in for a bite before work and noticed that it was filled with dirty tables which made me want to take away as i went to get my tuna sandwich i noticed a pair of scissors just lying there as i gave it to the guy working he looked completely clueless, once my food was cooked they picked it up with their hands!! and just shoved it in the packaging so when it came to eating it, most of the tuna and cheese was stuck to the top and it was not enjoyable. I wish I went back to complain and get my money back but I just didn't have time by then

Not open 24 hours anymore since COVID, but open from 6am until 12am except Sun. The ATMs outside are available 24/7, and the store is huge, everything you could possibly want

Sadly the staff were bordering on rude , especially the lady who appeared to be in charge . There was a tiny space to wait for a table. As I was on my own , the table which had been cleared for me by one of the other staff was not given to me and I was pit at a table next to a door where children were attending a private party. I wanted to order soup but was told it would be ½ hour. Not sure why that would be as it said soup was available from 12 noon and it was simply a case of putting some in a bowl ! This , coupled with a frosty atmosphere was enough to make me leave. There were 3 staff working in thr seating area yet there were uncleaned tables and lots of people who were clearly waiting to order . Sadly , I decided I wasn't particularly welcome and I decided to leave.

Popped in as I honestly was desperate for the toilet. I noticed they had a cafe so was very happy to purchase something or even grab a cute little gift on my way out. I was immediately bellowed at across the room by a scary looking woman who said ‘we don’t have public toilets, that is what you’re looking for isn’t it?’ I said that I was but I was happy to purchase something too (I totally understand business owners view on this however it is a ladies time of the month, I was desperate and I verbalised that I was willing to purchase something too). She told me that I was a liar and I wouldn’t buy anything and clearly wasn’t going to tell me where the toilet was so I used the disabled quickly (no one else was around). I said that it was disgusting to deny another person the human right to use the bathroom. SHE TOLD ME THAT I WAS DISGUSTING!!! Wow. I used the bathroom and calmly came out saying that I had full intentions of buying something and as I’m from a small historic town myself, I’m more than happy to support local businesses. She proceeded to aggressively tell Me that I wasn’t going to buy anything so feeling intimidated I left. To which she followed me to the door, then started taking photos of our car through the window. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! VILE
