I always buy the southern fried wrap. But was so shocked & disappointed with what i received that day. Service was not as good as usual either

Enjoyed a pint and fish and chips all under £10 a bargin I reckon.

So busy it's difficult for the staff to tidy up. Staff have electronic communications and some wear cameras so they must have trouble sometimes. Cheap prices and nice food.

It's a spoons. What more could ya want?

Good spoons in a location not too far away from the main attractions in York. The served one of the best Wetherspoon breakfasts I had in a long time.

It's a wetherspoon albeit one of the nicer ones and you get what you pay for.

We had been to various JD Wetherspoon we loved in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, and then this pathetic one in York. British female staff was rude to my wife and myself. They had time to talk and laugh about everything possible but ignored multiple requests (hand raised) despite being near our table - why you ask? Talking and laughing was more important than attending customers. Clearly, they were racist! Such a shame!

Quite a large place which was very busy. Usual tap beers and a few real ales available. Staff were friendly and polite. Beer was good. Enjoyed my visit.

Good cheap local and world wide ales n beers, food is simple and usually nice for the price. *update new menu is really nice*

This place was absolutely packed out. Ordered lasagna, which was served cold.

Tables were very dirty place needs a good clean.

Wetherspoons with plenty of room

This is a nice Wetherspoons, it’s modern inside and comfortable and clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful, they have a tables outside by the canal this is definitely a nice place to sit when the sun is out.

Sat in a booth. Ordered from the table and received our drinks in 3 minutes and our food in 10 minutes. The venue was clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was a good standard and reasonably priced. All in all a pleasant experience. Very glad we chose to eat here, after abandoning the Slug and Lettuce in York city centre that was a "free for all" in regards to folk shouting and screaming that could be heard in all three dining areas! 🤫🥴🚫 Well done 👏

A classic Wetherspoons pub with a large amount of seating. This can be a very lively place for food and drinks, unfortunately on a Saturday afternoon they had a large amount of options out of stock on the menu.

A large Wetherspoons. Food and drink were bought out promptly after ordering. It was busy, but plenty of space and easy to get a table.

Such a great location, we came to visit Cliffords Tower and stopped in Wether spoon for something to eat. Like Wetherspoon it did not disappoint. The staff are really friendly and the service was excellent. Plus you can sit right by the river to have a drink, note you can only have drinks near the river and it's bar service only for the river seats too. The rest is normal order at your table service.

Nice big “spoons”. Maximised drinking in every corner. Very, very cheap. Some fantastic beers on tap and bottle. Food looked standard fare for this type of place. Pleasant atmosphere.

Great Spoonies. Clean loos, fast service, crispy chips and not too loud.

Had a strawberry daiquiris the weren't nice told the staff he said it was from a can and he can't change them seemed very uninterested.

Ordered the mixed grill this evening at 21:00 sharp, food came within fifteen minutes. Despite the dubiously quick arrival, the food arrived in perfect condition, hot and cooked to perfection. The steak was medium rare, not a piece of cardboard like I was expecting. I am blown away. Cheers

Perfect crowded but very sociable

Went on Saturday, really busy but Dan who served out food and drink was absolutely amazing. We had a nice chat and he told me about good ales to try.

Visited today food was cold we was sat opposite the kitchen and was looking at our food sat waiting to be delivered to our table for about 10 minutes

We passed this while on the city sightseeing bus and decided to try it. Food and drinks choices are just your normal wetherspoons, but a few nice ales available. We sat outside, ,looking onto the main busy road, but only realised afterwards, there was a lovely terrace overlooking the river, which would have been nicer..

Called in for breakfast about 9am on a Thursday morning, we both ordered the 'traditional' breakfast, it was pretty quiet and was served quite quickly. Unfortunately when the breakfasts came they were almost cold. The fried egg was completely cold. I told a member of staff and they took them away and brought us fresh ones, however even though they were warmer the eggs were solid and the bacon crisped, which I suppose was better than cold ! I know they are only £5.99 but you expect them to be at least hot.

Really nice bar/pub with good choice of beers and friendly staff. Well worth calling in for a pint and food looked nice.

As expected for spoons, good all round service and great value. The meals do seems to be pared down from a few years ago - I guess it's to keep the cost down but it's getting to the point where it's not much better than a ready made meal from a discount supermarket.

The pub itself is well situated, it is very large. It's pretty typical of a spoons pub, so you kind of know what you're going to get. The place gets absolutely heaving on weekends, so consider your visiting times. Overall food and service pretty good and generally excellent value.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit for breakfast. The food was beyond our expectation, and one of the highlights of our visit.

Lovely modern pub in central York. Lots of lovely prints on the wall describing local history, attentive and friendly staff. Brianne was knowledgeable and efficient. Food was lovely. Was very busy but staff managing very well!

This is my local Wetherspoons. It gets very busy and the kitchen seems to have regular meltdowns. However things are better after the refurb and staff are helpful and friendly. It just gets rather overloaded with inadequate numbers of staff to cope at busy times.

Absolutamente la peor comida que realmente es. Carne de ensalada de pollo como ensalada de goma. Curry también era terrible. Chapatis crudos de Soggy naan. Absolutamente experiencia de mierda evitar la comida no es barato sabe terrible. Los desayunos son pobres también. Decidió revisar después de varios viajes aquí. Filetes finos de carne dura la tierra de microondas e ingredientes baratos. Emplean personal en la cocina que no tiene cuidado o comprensión, supongo que es difícil con el control de porciones e ingredientes de porquería. Curiosamente la sucursal de Scarborough no es una mala experiencia mejor comida. Claro. AVOID

Lovely modern Wetherspoon in York. Purpose built with light and airy feel and lots of glass and steel. Usual good food and value prices. Enjoyed it, although it's a bit of a walk from the city centre.

Traditional Breakfast was ok, a bit tasteless, but later in the day I had the Fish and chips, that was very nice

This curly haired man told us we couldn’t be served. We had just walked in!!! We had 2 drinks at home I don’t even know why he was say thing that’s when we got served everywhere else.

MACKHAM CHEESE FROM THE MACROW AYVE?

Rude staff, they will take your drinks, whilst you go for a smoke. And then tell you they won't serve you after you complain. Joke of a place and run by little kids.

We are sat in The postern gate York And the team here are excellent They all work very well together It's very busy today and sadly a lot of grumpy customers about but they handle it brilliantly Well done you should be proud of yourselves PS we are not grumpy customers 👏

Old man at the back bought me my drinks all night and all I had to do was show him the ladies for nine seconds 10/10, salad were rock solid but can't beat it for £2.39 👍👍

Had breakfast at this Wetherspoons but it wasn't hot enough

A newer Wetherspoon combined with a hotel. Slightly out of the way but still in a good location. The service is worth highlighting here, the tables are cleared and, above all, wiped down more often than in many other Wetherspoons. Prices are also lower than in London.

Went for a meal with my grandson. Unfortunately, the app wasn't working, and as we were in a hurry, we just had a quick drink and left.

Food is nice, got that traditional whetherspoons vibe going for it. Gets extremely busy on a Friday and Saturday night so just be mindful when choosing this place. Service has been quite fast for me, found the steak hard to eat as it was quite chewy, but all the other food I've had has been great.

A solid weatherspoons, enjoyed their fish and chips, the fish was excellent.

People cooking and plating up the food wear no gloves fingering the food throwing on the plate touching there nose wiping hands on clothes throwing food at each other really need to learn the basics of food hygiene

Me and my friend visited yesterday, even though the viking festival was on, and the place was busy, we managed to find a table straight away. We ordered our food and drink by the weatherspoons app, and that came within 10 minutes. The food was hot and freshly cooked, the only set back was the garlic bread that I ordered was really greasy and I couldn't eat any of it. When I was biting into the garlic bread, it was like eating dough, it was covered in that much grease. But everything else was fine.

Great place to stay part off the travel lodge it's witherspoons don't expect luxury but on budget price great £3 pint food was good for the price burger chips came with a pint about £12 a especially breakfast less then £8 great location 5mins from barbican recommend 👍

Another Spoons like the Punch bowl. It's newer bigger but equally as good. Coffee really good. Food looked good too.

Had the most lovely experience with a bartender called Ailsa. She was so welcoming and kind, it really made our evening. Will definitely come here again and hopefully be served by her :)

Ordered large mixed grill, which came to me luke warm at best. Went to food station where they took it from me to be replaced. A few mins later my mix grill returned warmer (just) but with out the bloody onion rings which I only noticed after my missus showed me a pic of our original dishes... Wouldn't of bothered with leaving a review if it wasn't for that..

Very busy pub bur staff friendly and helpful service Very good as usual wetherspoons prices are absolutely brilliant in the centre of York we paid over£16 for 2 drinks and here we paid less than £4 for 2 pints of Bud light talk about ripped off in the centre of York

Stopped off for a quick tea to catch up with an old friend and wasn't impressed at all. The atmosphere seemed off, even by Spoons standards. Service was ok, but nothing special. The cups we were given were dirty (sticky in my case) and the tea/coffee areas were a mess with stuff all over. They looked like they hadn't been cleaned since opening time (this was early evening). The tables were sticky and were mostly unemptied from previous customers. While we were sat we observed a couple who were having no end of trouble with their food order and almost had to resort to shouting to get what they ordered! Not somewhere I'd head for again.

Can get very busy and noisy in the evening on weekends.

It's a Spoons! A good selection of ales at great prices. Great staff too. Food is fairly standard and cheap so it was very busy. A bit soulless but a reasonable stopping point.

Cheap food,cheap beer,quick service

We were staying in the travelodge next door and found it very good for breakfast and dinner it gets busy in the evening but breakfast was really good. We has porridge and fruit with yogurt very good. While having breakfast we saw some really great characters two gentlemen who were talking about the law we thought they could be having breakfast prior to working in the adjacent courts.

Only went for in for coffee & got a cup of hot milky brown drink. Tasted horrible . Out of 3 coffee machines in the pub only 1 was giving out proper measures all the others had flashing lights & warnings on screen . Mentioned about them to a staff member but nothing was done didn't even go over & have a look .1 working coffee machine in a pub that size is unacceptable.

Eas in here today and ordered steak. Was so fatty and hard to cut, said something to the waiter and just took it away, no appology.
