Cafe Nero in Stockton-on-Tees

Staff are very chatty to their friends but rude and bossy to customers. The tables were dirty, and no one was clearing away. The coffee is extremely strong and bitter It will be Costa next time……..

The first time in my life I have left a coffee shop without even ordering. My friend and I walked in and were perusing the cakes when a lady barked at us MOVE ALONG TO HERE WILL YOU. I said no we were looking and her reply was WELL WHAT ARE YOU DRINKING? I said we didn’t know we had just walked in and it was so awful my friend said I really don’t want to have a coffee here so we left I’ve never seen worse customer service can I advise you to go across the road to Costa and watch and learn. Happy to give them my £20 as we got a warm welcome Shocking and having read the reviews it tells me all I need to know

Worst coffe shop i ever been.dirt every were/awfull tables and chair......i think no body clean the floor at all

all i can say is #cafezero. it’s my first week at sixth form and me and my mixed socially acceptable friend group. unfortunately our first of choice of costa was closed so we decided to visit this cafe. what a mistake. me and my friend were ordering food at the counter and we had previously been at cooplands so our other friend were sat at a dirty booth and had got their drinks out on the table to be verbally attacked by a rude member of the staff calling the cafe “too busy” for us and sharp and bluntly telling them to put there drinks away. my friend calmly and politely addressed that we were buying stuff at the counter currently, but she wasn’t having it. she continued to argue with our friends telling us to get out if we are not only eating/ drinking cafe nero products. this was shocking to us as anywhere else we would be able to have the basic rights of any human being. in other words: the service was abysmal. not only that, but the brownie i ordered tasted like plastic and almost broke my brace. it wasn’t fun. safe to say wont be coming back to this socially injusticed ‘cafe’.

Terrible service we were watched the whole time by 2 of the staff members. Honestly the worst service we have ever received. Staff kept shouting at us for having a sprite can on the table when we were clearly buying from the counter. Honestly will not be returning, ruined our day! If u are thinking of going to cafe nero pls go to Costa instead!

My elderly mother and I visited this lovely cafe on the same day Thursday 17th August 2023 as we had visited the expensive Strickland and Holt earlier. This Cafe Nero is in a similar style to their other cafes with old fashioned looking big comfy chairs.Friendly hard working ladies and a nice relaxing atmosphere and we used the meerkat app to save 25% off the bill.Love this cafe!

Great Service, Sat outside today and totally blown over by the staff drinks and food. Plenty of lovely Cafes in Yarm bit this was special. Waited a while for the rice cake but when it arrived Wow it had been warmed and was delicious.

Without doubt, the Caffè Nero in Yarm is the most attractive branch of the chain we have been in - and we have been in rather a lot. The first and main difference is the lovely colour scheme which is much lighter than most other branches. This modern decor is augmented by attractive furniture, an impressive and attractive roof skylight above a pleasant atrium and a delightful courtyard garden. Add nice service and good coffee and this is a top class coffee shop, which it needs to be in Yarm as the High Street is full of good independent competitors.

Inconsistent customer service, sometime Fantastic ( by a few and horrible / disgusting by some ) gives a sense of feeling that Nero employees fear to greet their regular customers and I’m one of them.Or they don’t enjoy their job . Coffee Nero as a place is nice and spacious and isn’t a bad place for a coffee ☕️/ breakfast when they get it right . The cakes 🧁 can be dry and not moist majority of the times.

I ordered drinks & food through Uber Eats as a treat for my daughters. The Uber experience was fine in that I received regular updates etc. However, there were food items missing and the bacon sandwich that was ordered was burned with hardly any bacon in it. When I rang caffe nero to advise that items were missing, the staff member was extremely unhelpful. She just said “yes, there was a bit of a problem with your order”. Said the only way to fix it was to contact the Uber driver. They just hadn’t bothered to put the missing items in my order. I said I’d like a refund and she was again, very dismissive. Told me to get back to Uber & that she couldn’t help me. I’ve now sorted my refund through Uber but what a disappointment. Avoid this place, service is terrible, food isn’t that good, drinks are watery & not at all enjoyable.

I have visit a few times before now and every time the staff have been so rude and unfriendly. At a time when a pleasant greeting or even a smile would make the world of difference to someone you’re left feeling like you’ve been a complete and utter inconvenience that they’ve had to get up from using their mobile phones to serve you a hot drink. I left feeling so upset today! I will never visit Cafe Nero again and would certainly not recommend your shop to others. Sort yourselves out!

Whenever I've visited this local Nero branch (from Monday to Friday) I've always been greeted with fantastic customer service and the member of staff even knows my order. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough. The same can't be said for the staff members who work here on a weekend though, unfortunately. They are rude, impolite and essentially make you feel like you're an inconvenience. I continue to come here but Caffe Nero desperately need to sort out their weekend cover in this branch. They employ the worst, unfriendliest staff during peak times on a weekend! Sort it out!

Just visited Cafe Nero, Yarm. Every table was really dirty. I asked for our table to be cleaned. I was told ‘give us a minute’. My food was brought and I asked for a fork to eat my muffin (that was presented in a plastic bag). My response? ‘I’ve only got one pair of hands!’ NEVER WILL I RETURN TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!! My flat white was pretty dire too!

Member of staff made an error and she made no effort to correct it. Mistakes happen, that’s not an issue, but I was beyond disappointed with her response when she essentially shifted the blame onto us and didn’t attempt to rectify the issue. Overly officious would be an understatement. I’ve had a lot of good experiences in Nero and the staff are normally lovely, but this individual was awful; Yarm Caffé Nero need to sort out their customer service.

Visited today and waited at least 10 minutes for a seat. Arrived and multiple tables sat nursing empty coffee cups and reading papers and despite waiting for 10 minutes not one person offered to leave. One elderly couple got up twice so go the loo and brushed past us and sat back down and opened up the paper again, blatantly avoiding eye contact. If the cafe is busy and the cups are empty the staff should at least clear away and try to get people waiting, seats. Also coats on chairs that weren’t being used. Staff could have re arranged and created some Extra seating. Clearly not interested in looking after customers. Shoddy at best or just rude. Not impressed

Just wanted a bite to eat and was shocked to see how little there was on the shelf, one member was pleasant and helpful and could tell she was new but trying whereas some of the older members of staff looked miserable. Didn't appreciate certain staff members banging chairs around or stomping from one side to the other, toilets were disgusting and had no paper and the thing that surprised is most was you have to pay for butter? Never heard of that all the times going to different neros.

Had some nice drinks and cakes in here all delicious and usual standard from here,fab service and friendly atmosphere,managed to get a seat as was getting very busy as last Saturday before xmas,clean toilets and good menu and prices.

Cafe Nero chain is a reputable group and there is a good standard that I would not expect is not routinely met. Staff are friendly and helpful in Yarm.

This cafe is a shabby chic cosy place to have a coffee and cake. I wouldn't recommend to lunch there, we chose two paninis which were pre made and heated up, to my surprise my bacon and Brie one was almost empty, one half had no bacon the second had a piece of streaky bacon which was 90 percent fat! Brie, well I couldn't see or taste any. Very disappointed.

Obviously not happy with dog being with us unlike other Yarm cafes. The yard in the back is quite dirty with lots of temptations for dogs to pick up dirty bits. Some pleasant young members of staff though.

Good coffe, good food, welcoming staff. Go there most days for a coffee and to sit and read my newspaper. Good ambiance, many people turn up during the day and the cafe is well furnished and comfortable.They have an area outside for those occasional days when weather is good.Worth a visit and will look out for you

Staff are wonderful, especially the Manager, Karen. Always manage to find a seat. Nice cosy atmosphere. We go every weekend!

A really nice place to sit and have a coffe. Papers provided, comfortable seats, good ambiance and extremely good service. I go here at least 2 to 3 times a week

Nice coffee and you know what you’re getting at least. Wasps are an issue during late summer and early autumn but it’s good all the same

We popped into Cafe Nero at the end of a visit to Yarm. We had sampled the delights of local business and thought we would see what big business was doing to compete.We found a pleasant coffee shop that was clean and efficient.I had a large cappuccino and my other half had an Americano. They were made to our liking and the lady serving explained the double shot policy and we can request less, which type of milk and if we wanted syrups. she managed to sell me a chocolate fudge cake with cream which I enjoyed immensely.

Friendly welcome as always - nice breakfast if latte & teacake brought to my table while I chilled for 10 minutes with a newspaper!

Excellent coffee and good staff The sandwiches were nice The rude mothers with babies that blocked the way through with pushchairs and over loud chat spoilt the atmosphere But the cafe Nero cortado is our favourite coffee

We stopped here for a coffee and pastry this morning. It was lovely and warm and a welcome break from the cold! The coffee was fine and the pastry light and fluffy.

Friendly and quick service and a nicely decorated and airey/bright venue with a small courtyard to the rear. Can be very busy which can at times put a little pressure on only having a single loo

Nipped in for a warming coffee. Staff friendly coffee and cake great. A lovely half hour was spent before i battled the shopping again

Had a nice relaxing hot chocolate here. Staff friendly and service quick. Great ambience but only one toilet.

I've visited this coffee shop around a dozen times this year. The other reviewer who had issue with a customer eating chips is unduly harsh. This coffee shop is bright, clean, spacious and has large windows which let in lots of natural light. The coffee is lovely, cakes etc appear fresh. Staff are polite & courteous and clean all tables a lot quicker than some other franchises. There's already some lovely coffee shops in Yarm but Cafe Nero is still a welcome addition to Yarm High Street.

Well situated and light, Cafe Nero in Yarm has a pleasant aspect on entry. Once in though staff are tardy in clearing away and cleaning table tops. Soup ordered, to be followed by a coffee. However I was dumbfounded when a young lad walked in with a portion of chips and sat at a table, with no attempt at ordering anything to munch his lunch. A guest of one of the staff with whom he talked freely. Now I have no great issue other than had I wanted to soak up the atmospherics of a chip shop I would have gone to the chip shop rather than cafe Nero.
