Cafe Nero in Taunton Deane

Lovely cafe, beautiful drinks and lady with the dark blonde hair was very friendly . Don’t get that much in coffee shops anymore

I have been having coffee in this shop almost daily for 5 years. In the last year it has gone downhill and I have noticed that many regulars have gone elsewhere. The queues are long and slow. The staff turnover is frequent and many are lazy and gossip. I also think that it could be cleaner. What a shame, the ambiance has changed.! ☹️

The place is dirty in all aspects the front display and all coffee areas look a mess and the floor behind the till looks filthy. Basic stuff that should be done daily. It’s not being done monthly by the look of it

Very very slow service and only take away cups available. But the worst thing was watching the older woman of the two litrally kick a metal jug into the kitchen, twice. It was quite awkward tbh.

Visited today and queued for service, after what felt like 20 minutes gave up and went elsewhere. We were not the only ones, lots of people were entering and leaving. Tables were piled high in cups etc and the whole place was unclean. Cafe Nero...you need to do something about this place now!

What a terrible Nero. We usually frequent Nero wherever we go feeling it is always of a standard however this was awful. Had to ask for the flat white to be remade but the second one was just as bad and we overheard another customer saying their flat white tasted like an ash tray. For such a beautiful building what a shame it feels so uncared for.

Don’t get me wrong I do like the Cafe Nero in Taunton, it has great coffee and beautiful surroundings to sit in, but today I must say that the man serving me was more interested in his phone that getting me a coffee, sorry but I put customer service to be about the customer, don’t let this put you off coming here, I am just giving my opinion on the visit here today.

During our trip to cafe Nero today. We were very disheartened by the service of which we indured. The woman who was serving our beverages simply could not crack a smile. TOUGH CROWD. When asking the difference between two coffees upon their set menu they were unable to answer. There appeared to be a language Barrier to which myself and my dear friend were unable to understand what it was we had ordered. To our horror we were given our drinks after a considerable wait. These looked something similar to a bush trucker trail. The drinking task that is. The coffee was bitty and tasted rather sour. Not pleasant at all considering the price paid. Unfortunately we would have presented our concerns in person however we did not have a pen. We also we not offered a napkin and had to get one ourselves. This came in great use later on! Talking about this load of crap the toilets were undesirable. Stinky and filthy. No paper and the hand dryer was not in service. I do hope the people making the coffees are able to wash their hands effectively. I am normally a rather big supporter of cafe Nero however me and my dear friend will not be coming again.

I have been visiting this Nero for years and it had just been going down hill the last year or so. Today was horrendous. The drink was its usual good self. Staff seemed pleasant enough. Every table had at least one full dirty tray and mugs. The tables all needed clearing. The toilets hadn’t been checked and cleaned for over 6 hours according to their own sign off system and you could tell they needed cleaning.

Beautiful almost 500 year old historic merchants house. Friendly welcoming staff. The best cafe Nero I've been in. A must if visiting Taunton. Shame they'd ran out of non dairy milk on my visit. Thanks Keiron for being so helpful.

Ordered a plant based sausage bap and iced coffee through Uber eats to be delivered to home, however a bacon roll was put in instead, if not noticed and the person had eaten this, they could have been very ill. Didn’t much fancy the iced latte afterwards, as had requested a milk substitute, but couldn’t be sure dairy wasn’t used. Was only offered a partial refund. Not the first time we’ve had issues with this branch and wrong orders.

This building is one of the most stunning in the town centre, so much so that's it's a shame that's it's now just a Nero, and a pretty average Nero at that. Inside it wasn't particularly welcoming, clean and it lacked atmosphere. The space could be so much better used as a nice restaurant or coal-fired power station.

I visited Café Nero in Taunton this morning. About 10 am, whilst waiting to be served I noticed a milk delivery sitting on the floor at the end of the counter & protruding by 7 x 4 pint containers (end on) into the customer area - a trip hazard. The elderly gentleman in front of me noticed just in time to avoid falling over them. The milk delivery was still on the floor when I left. The girl serving was very pleasant & trying hard but I think fairly new to the job. The only other person I saw working there was a man who appeared with his mobile, served a couple of customers & left ignoring the milk on the floor. Sadly I have no choice but to give Café Nero in Taunton a 2 whereas on a good day it would rate a 4.

In my opinion the best coffee in Taunton. Also the best apricot criossants anywhere, but you have to be quick as they are all gone very early. Could do with a facelift inside and the toilets upstairs are a nightmare for the disabled.

Generally dirty, surrounding tiles and doors grubby needs a good clean with flash. I appreciate it is an old building but that’s no excuse for poor hygiene!

- premises only allows a queue of 5 people before it’s out the door - from working through the door, was 20 minutes before being given my drinks. Not a time I’ve experienced before in any coffee shop. - Poor customer service, virtually no interaction with customers. No “sorry for the wait/will be with you in just a moment” nothing other than what can I get you and that 6.75 please. Expected more given nearly everyone in the queue was clearly feeling the same frustration.

Service so slow the queue was coming out the door, tables not cleared at all, very unhygienic and not one member of the three members of staff behind the counter was wearing a mask which did at least make it easier to hear their voluminous critiques of the online orders coming in (they weren’t big fans of any special requests). It also made it easier for them to have long chats with favoured customers who’d reached the front of the queue. To the irritation of everyone still waiting. Not somewhere I’d want to go to again even though the coffee itself (when you finally get it) is actually very good.

The worst place I’ve been to date ! Most tables full of debris not one cleared while we were there in fact I had to clear my own . Drinks put in paper cups despite eating in ? Cake in a paper box ? The lady in charge was on her mobile more than concentrating on her actual job . Service so slow the queue was out the door . Lesson learned here won’t be going back .

This place probably has the best atmosphere for a coffee shop in Taunton, the cakes and sandwiches are somewhat overpriced but the coffee is above average. However I have decided not to visit here again as they have a policy of not accepting cash payments...

Nice place for a hot drink and a chat with friends. The building itself is an older building unusual for Taunton which makes it unique. I like how in the summer there is outside seating as well.

Caffe Nero is set in a very old beamed building and has a very welcoming atmosphere. It is always busy which is a good indication of its popularity. Service can be a bit slow but it is worth the wait.

I'm not a big tea or coffee lover, but Nero do the best hot chocolate! (So much better than Costa or Starbucks). The staff are so nice and efficient considering how busy they always are.
