Cafe Nero in Mendip

Only had one lady in front of me and after she was served I stood and waited for well over 5 mins with two staff members ( chatting ) who didn’t even acknowledge me or ask me what I would like … they even looked at me and it was like they blanked me . After another few minutes of nothing happening, not even sorry we’ll be with you in a minute. I decided to walk out and had a coffee elsewhere. Terrible service .I’d leave zero stars if I could .

Filthy!!! Dogs allowed on seats...theyre never cleaned. Dogs drinking water from customers drinking glasses....!, not stopped. Everything you seeis grubby so worry about cleanliness of kitchen etc. Do staff even have food hygiene certificates???if so why isnt this improved?

We sat upstairs which was dirty. We sat by a bay window which looked out across the shops which was nice but the bay window had bits of food which had clearly been there for days, the walls were filthy and paint peeling on the windows. Disappointing as I expected more from a Cafe Nero 😕

Not a very exceptional menu at all for a person with dietary issues which that is gluten intolerance which has coeliac they don't have any thing glutenfree there are a lot people who are coeliac and they should expand and cater for gluten intolerance people with coeliac disease

Love this Nero. Manager is great and Coffee always good. We stop here every dog walk and we are never disappointed.

So lovely to find a dog friendly cafe in Tunbridge Wells. Unfortunately the toilet (there was only 1 and it was the disabled one) was filthy, broken soap dispenser, no soap, loo roll all over the floor and dirty sink. Disappointing for Tunbridge Wells.

Really good service , the 2 ladies behind the counter were obviously busy and stressed, but I felt very pleased with how I was treated. We have a small dog, and that was welcomed. Sadly for Costa a few doors away they didn’t allow dogs in, so Cafe Nero had our money. Thanks for the bowl of water! Nice and relaxing place to have a drink and savoury snacks. Good value, great staff. Well done!

The two female staff members were welcoming and very helpful. The coffee (flat white) was excellent and so was the focaccia. Plenty of seats to choose from on my early visit and the gentle music playing in the background was very relaxing.

I was visiting towards April, 2022. They were the only coffee shop to open early on a Sunday. Had a lovely Americano, in a lovely coffee shop. The chap serving was very polite and helpful. Nice to hear some classical music playing gently in the background. So tired of all the pop that is often jarring. Nice to see the dogs are allowed in. Man's been living and eating with his dogs for thousands of years - it's how it should be. Dog called Mildred was lovely and well behaved.

Have visited this cafe for several years without a problem but on our last Saturday visit things weren't good. My wife's Hot Chocolate was luke warm and my Cappuccino, well was it? A quarter cup, if that, of Espresso and the rest was milk froth. Indeed, I'm sure I glimpsed the server apparently spooning the froth to top up the cup, there was clearly little or no milk added. Am annoyed now that I didn't complain at the time. However, will now hesitate to visit again.

Staying in nearby Glastonbury for a weekend, I came to Wells a few times to visit Wells Cathedral, The Bishops Palace and Vicars' Close. Caffe Nero was my choice for coffee breaks. Staff are quick and nice to talk too. Mocha was great every time.

Will only accept contactless payment, how many bank staff have caught any infection from handling cash?

We popped in for a drink during a visit to Wells - my ice cold frappe was absolutely delicious, and Chris said his hot chocolate with cream was the best he'd ever had in a cafe. Very friendly service, a one-way system in-store, and comfortable seating - perfect!

A large Caffé Nero's ideally situated in the very historical City of Wells that has plenty of indoor seating, that sell a good range of hot & cold beverages, as well as hot & cold savories plus delicious cakes, I ordered a flat white from the very friendly server which was made to perfection. Unfortunately it does get extremely busy most of the time due to its location, but there always seems to be plenty of staff to serve you as quickly as they possibly can, plus clear the tables regularly.

Called in for morning coffee. The staff were really friendly and helpful. There is a water station too, so you can refill a reusable bottle or take water with your coffee.

Popped in today, very busy in Wells, got served quickly by excellent staff, coffee was great, and so was the cake! Will go back again :)

Stopped here on a rainy day for a break in the morning and afternoon when visiting the Cathedral. Comfortable arm chairs and a relaxed environment. Friendly prompt service and nice pastries and toasted sandwiches.

Sunday afternoon coffee and cake after lovely walk around Wells. The front, near the door, is so cold with the door open I frequently so we moved to the back which is ok but a little tired. Maybe better places around??

Prices were reasonable, two chocolate mochas with a lemon curd muffin and a peacan pastry costing a little over a tenner. Service was helpful and fairly quick and we had a bit of help from the staff member on what to choose. Nice surroundings help although it became extremely busy later on. Visited 27th January 2019.

Nero's in Wells is ideally situated in the high street and at times can be quite busy so you need to time your visit well. Staff very professional and quick to serve.

A bit claustrophobic. Service curiously slow though not very busy. There used to be a really nice server here but she has gone. Might try again if and when Cafe Nero start to pay their taxes properly

We went here twice and I thought the service was excellent on both occasions. Dog friendly too. Their coffee is superior to other chains in my view

Coffee great, food very good with a good selection, service and helpful staff, has quite a lot of seating but can get busy at certain times.

We hadn’t been into the Wells Nero since the new manager took over eighteen months or so ago so we thought we would give it a go. We weren’t disappointed, the coffee was served lovely and hot by a very polite member of staff and the cake was delicious. There are a lot of coffee shops in Wells, a lot don’t open until ten and are aimed at the tourists, but Nero offers the same prices and service to all whatever the season. Well worth a visit.

Nice selection of cakes and savouries, good coffee. Can get very busy at lunchtimes, but otherwise, a comfy place to rest and enjoy good coffee.

Cafe Nero Wells what can I say but you are welcoming warm and make good coffee. Get your card stamped and have a freebie ! Dogs are welcome. Clean and comfortable. Service with a smile. The two lads that work here are lovely. I come every week usually and have not had a bad experience yes its a change but this is a nice place to enjoy a coffee..Well Done ! My usual is Latte and Pain au raisin which is yummy. Free Wifi

Wanting to experience all of Bath we could ~ we chose Cafe Nero over Starbucks and we were not disappointed. The bakery items were delicious and the lattes were different, but very tasty. Very warm and personable staff. Highly recommended.

Even in all the snow they were open, warm and really friendly..... Even with out large soggy dog. Will definitely be our new spot to pop in for a drink!

Nice place for a coffee and snacks. Right in the middle of the high street makes it an ideal place to stop and have a snack.

Thete are a lot of coffee shops in Wells but cafe Nero puts all the rest to shame.

I takeout hot chocolate Milano twice in one week as they are just soooo good! Always enjoy to drink them especially in the cold weather!

Friendly service, lovely atmosphere and decor with a generous amount of seating available! The salted caramel cake is delicious and the coffee and hot chocolate just as good! We will be back!

Visit there with my friends yesterday for some coffee n snacks. It’s a nice place coffee lover should definitely visit there easy access available almost everywhere.

Delicious drinks, tasty food; but it’s a chain, they’re all good. But in the one in Wells, Amy did our large and confusing order quickly and efficiently. Will be back.

This cafe is a bit scruffy, the coffee pretty terrible and the single serve all loo a disgrace, avoid.

Los estándares de Cafe Nero han caído mal en el pasado año o dos y la tienda de Wells es un buen ejemplo de eso. El lugar está bastante deteriorada y sucia con migas por todas partes, incluso en las sillas y alrededor de la planta. La decoración, incluyendo los asientos, está muy cansado. La tienda de la calle tiene el mismo problema. El café y la comida estaba bien, caliente y fresco por el personal es muy amable, pero si lo permite las normas Cafe Nero para dejar más que no nos molestó especialmente en Wells, porque hay muchos otros sitios disponibles.

Gran cadena de cafetería, gran variedad de comida y bebida. Uso de tarjeta de fidelidad; elección difícil sobre Café Nero o costa. . . .

Servicio rápido y excelente café. Bollos y crema de leche eran deliciosos. Sillones cómodos con vistas al grandes.

The last thing that the unique and tiny city of Wells needs is "multiples" like this dragging it down to uniformity with every other town and city. Please don't encourage this homogenisation of our country by patronising it.

This is a slightly grubby coffee shop with cramped and slightly smelly toilets. The hand driers couldn't be placed in more ridiculous locations if they tried.The staff will sell you coffee even if there are no seats left. Bonus point - the coffee is not bad.

This Nero is really attentive and looks after people's needs. Good meet and greet culture! Always excellent coffee!

Popped in here for coffee meeting rather than going to Coffee 1 - haven't been in a Costa for a long while. The coffees has virtually no flavour - very very milky drinks. I would say that Costa coffee is for children, beginners or people who don't really appreciate the actual quality of the beans, roast, flavours etc. Caffe Nero is bitter/burnt and has Robusta type flavours/bite - lots of flavours of the wrong kind, while Costa has the opposite i.e lacks in all decent coffee flavours. I think that I'll give it another 3 years before I try a Costa again.

Although a chain it has a very warm and friendly atmosphere. The cappuccino is actually coffee and not the diluted milk you normally get. Great staff and George has always time for a quick chat. Will keep coming

I have visited several cafés over the years, and Nero never fails to disappoint me. Service is quick, even when busy, prices are reasonable, the coffee is strong and the staff are polite and helpful - when I threw my coffee over the counter through my own clumsiness, I received a replacement free of charge. It is this sort of service to customers which puts an establishment in my good books. I cannot complain about Nero in Wells, and I highly recommend it to anybody looking for a coffee in Wells.

Lovely lunch. Ordered goats cheese and red pepper pannis for my daughter and myself and hubby had Brie and bacon panni. The food was lovely and drinks were up to the Cafe Nero standard.Staff were friendly too.

You know what yiu get at Cafe Nero, but this is a cut above. Great service from friendly team. Comfy armchairs when youre tired from walking about

As far a coffee chains go this is a good one! Opening before all others in CityStaff are efficient and coffee is made quickly and they listen to any special requests you haveThe food is mass produced but I would expect this however their pastries are good and freshI take away as on way to work but inside looks clean and tidyStaff member Alex (?) Tried this high St coffee shop & like many others, no real difference in any uniqueness at all.Coffee nice hot strong and good array of cakes and biscuits.Staff seemed to be accommodating but no one going that little extra in the helpful department, very average .

So pleased to have discovered cafe Nero. It is more spacious than it looks from outside, as it goes back quite a long way. The staff are always friendly & helpful. It has free Wifi, great coffee. Down side, limited choice of decaf drinks, esp teas. Small choice of snacks. They only have one gluten & dairy free snack, which gets boring after a while. A larger choice would be very welcome.

I often have lunch here which is mostly pleasant. However hot drinks are sometimes cold and it is expensive.

Lovely location to rest for a coffee in the bustling High Street of Wells. Nice friendly family run business.

The advantage of a chain is that generally the standard is the same which ever branch you visit. Cafe Nero Wells is an example of this

Well run coffee house situated in the centre of the High St, just 200 yards from the Medieval cathedral. As you would expect from this chain the range of coffees and teas is impressive, and combined with snacks / small meals is rather good. A comfortable friendly place for coffee, just right to meet up with friends.

I stop on here almost daily during my working dayI am impressed with all staff members and speed of service also the coffee they use here is wonderful not bitter and with an underlying note of chocolate I enjoy the music and the atmosphere also I must say very clean loos!!

My favourite drop by place for soya cappuccino and my partners apricot croissant. Always delivers but can get busy and the tables at the back are really tiny for two!

This is our local and service is always good. A window seat is a bonus . I just love the apricot pastries and the sunshine coming in the windows

Although I generally love Cafe Nero, on this occasion we were served by a Trainee Barista which I suppose everyone has to learn but he was all alone behind the counter, the Manager was sitting at a table filling out some paperwork. Granted the place was empty but in all the branches of Cafe Nero I have visited I have never waited so long for coffee. I do stress though that he was clearly training but I would have thought the Manager should have paid more attention to the length of time it was taking as we were standing right next to him.

First time I have ever rated a Cafe Nero less than 4 or 5. However to sell bacon sandwiches at nearly a fiver each and to have no brown or even tomato sauce available is simply lax management. Having mobile access throughout the cafeteria is a basic accommodation these days. Sorry guys coffee still great you just have to buck up especially with several rival firms a few paces away.

After being turned away from Costa up the road the manager here allowed us to bring out pet dog ( a cavallier king charles spaniel ) in for coffee. The service was amazing and manager very courteous.Will definately be back.

I did feel a bit guilty entering a chain coffee house in somewhere as unique as Wells but we did have a pleasant experience. The staff were super-friendly, for example, greeting us on entry and saying goodbye when we left. As it was Christmastime I had a amaretto coffee, which was lovely, and my husband enjoyed his caramel latte.

Love all Cafe Nero outlets but the staff here were so lovely and I could see most people were regulars, they were even willing to carry the tray to the table for one older lady which I thought was super sweet. Great coffee and good choice of sandwiches and cakes. One member of staff walked in and even before he had started his shift was happy to chat to us, smile x

Best coffee on the high street and the staff in here are very good. They don't rush you or pressure sell and for the most part really personable. Comfy seating and calm atmosphere.

We don't usually care for corporate coffee houses, and would never darken the door of a Starbucks establishment even if in serious caffeine deficiency, but wherever we are we ALWAYS seek out a Cafe Nero outlet for our caffeine 'fix'. Always comfortable, and always guaranteed a great cup of real coffee!

I went into today for a coffee before I met my friend for lunch. I always found café nero always busy, which us a good thing. The guy who works there is always friendly, keep up the good work!!!

Much the same as any Nero's apart from the skilled speedy preparation of the Barista, he was amazing, quick and charming in equal measure - they need to clone him quickly and send them off to all the other Nero's

As a serial Nero visitor and having visited most in the uk this is one of the better ones. Great space, new furniture and big tables to read your newspaper. Plenty of plug sockets too ;)

What can you say about yet another coffee house in Wells? It was Starbucks and now it's Cafe Nero but you would hardly notice the difference - same selection of coffees, sticky buns and panninis but one thing was special - the chap behind the counter was just amazingly good at his job. There was a queue but he was living proof that men can also multi-task. He worked the queue like a master barista. He remembered everyone's order and his left hand seemed to work independently of his right - it was like watching a juggler. Customers that wanted something different were not treated as a pain - he was completely in control and totally polite. I don't know what he is paid, but whatever it is, it isn't enough. What a pro!

I couldn't find anything particularly noteworthy about this cafe one way or the other. The panini I had was not especially fresh, I did come in late in the day. The coffee was fine as was the lemon drizzle cake and the prices were typical of these types of establishments. The staff were friendly and attentive and the cafe itself was clean and tidy. Overall quality, price, location and service were satisfactory nothing more in my opinion which isn't to say I wouldn't visit again if I were in the area although I would be more likely to try elsewhere first.
