Amazing Bistro Cafe in Benfleet. Our favourite place at the moment for breakfast. A must try if you're ever in the surrounding area, second to none....Brunch is also truly amazing.

Dear Cafe Max, I hope this message finds you well. I recently visited your establishment and ordered a simple breakfast consisting of an omelette with two sides, toast, two bottles of water, and one black Americano. To my surprise, the total cost amounted to £30. Given the current economic climate and the competitive nature of the hospitality industry, I find this pricing exorbitant and disproportionate to the value of the meal. I appreciate quality dining experiences, but this seems excessively steep for a standard breakfast offering in Benfleet.

Do not go to Cafe Max! The owners are the most obnoxious people. We are unfortunate enough to be neighbours with these people. They have regular parties at their house which are so unbelievably loud and go on until all hours. We have even had this on a Sunday where our children have been unable to sleep because the bass from the music scares them! We used to be regular visitors to the cafe but ever since we realised they were the people causing such disturbance we have refused to go there anymore. Awful, rude people!

We ate here at lunch during a weekend away from home. The food and smoothies were fabulous, staff incredibly friendly and kind, and the decor was also nice. It was an overall very good experience.

The best breakfast in benfleet. The service was amazing, a very relaxing atmosphere and the sausages were top quality! Will definitely be back and highly recommend.

Don't have the German cheesecake it's all for me... Have the scrumptious Biscoti cheesecake instead..😁

A very friendly cafe with a big selection of snacks, meals and drinks. If you're a vegetarian the choice is a bit limited, but the service is very friendly and the food is good.

Arrived as a walk in for Breakfast at a very busy cafe.Seated promptly and ordered 2 Flat Whites immediately 👍🏻 Browsed the menu and ordered the Cafe Max English Breakfast & Sliced Avocado & Tomatoes on Sourdough Toast with Poached Eggs & Cheddar Cheese. Unfortunately for us the Poached Eggs were hard, avocado was black in places and the tomatoes had a very acidic taste as if they were going off. Coffee not the best taste in our opinion. Not sure what has changed as been to this establishment many times before! Spoke to the server/cashier when paying the bill about the situation and she just said ‘ I’ll remember next time you are in’ 🤷‍♀️

We are visiting from Canada and just passed this place and decided to pop in. Wonderful menu and very good service. The owners made us feel at home. Highly recommended. We went back again for a family celebration. Catherine and her team were awesome. The food was perfect. Thank you chefs.

Love coming to Cafe Max especially in the summer when we can sit outside. Always a friendly welcome, staff lovely, good food but your coffee is terrible! Please, please invest in good quality coffee, barista style. It’s almost undrinkable with no depth or actual taste & the milk is not frothed correctly. It would make all the difference….

We visired the cafe today, We had the grilled goats cheese panzanella salad. One word: amazing !! Staff friendly and service was good too. Well worth a visit.

I've eaten there several times now. Staff are always friendly and willing to help. The food I've had has always been as expected and good quality. Nice eating area outback, though closed off in winter.

We visited Cafe Max today (New Year's Eve) and had the most amazing meal as always! Food was exceptional and the service is unlike any other. I feel very privileged to have worked for the Cafe several years back while completing my PhD; it's rare to find an employer that offers so much support to their employees. Both of my children have since worked for Mark and Karin and it has set them up for life in the real world. We've all said that if we could work for them forever, we absolutely would! If more employers were like them, the world would be a better place! They always make sure that the staff get 100% of the tips (a rarity in the hospitality sector nowadays). So, if you're looking to eat fabulous food in a place that truly makes you feel welcome and you know invests in their staff, this is the place to go!

Just been announced on the news that owners are not allowed to keep tips!!! Which is the case in this cafe, my daughter worked here since she was only 16 for 3 years, to be told she would never mount to nothing!!!! She is now training as a dental nurse.. Karen & the husband always kept the tips, my daughter was paid her wages out of the tips!!! So as the food is overpriced do not leave a tip because you will only line the owners pockets!! To the customers they come across as lovely people but are bullies!!, that reduces my daughter to tears daily!!! Also her boyfriend was threatened for standing outside on the pavement waiting for her to finish her shift.. If this treatment was against your son or daughter you would feel the same as me.. The owners are not nice people to work for unless your giving them money for their overpriced food.

We had a fantastic brunch this afternoon! The food was delicious and the drinks were lovely too. Our waitress Catherine was so attentive and friendly it made the experience really enjoyable. We will definitely be back!

Upon arrival we was told we needed to book but they managed to find a small table for two by the window. Once sat we was left by ourselves for 20 mins waiting for our order to be taken. A long stare at the kitchen prompted staff to come over and take our order. Once the food had finally arrived after waiting 40 mins, it wasn’t warm, the plate was hotter than the food. It seemed to be very poncey for what it actually is. Portions was small. Very over priced. Staff was not helpful, didn’t take pride in working for the business

We went for a bottomless brunch and it was excellent the food was delicious and came out in cages the Prosecco flowed and they even bought out a cake for our friends birthday the only thing I would have liked a little bit more food.

We have visited Cafe Max a couple of times for breakfast and have always been really pleased with the food and service. On our most recent visit we found all COVID rules were being followed but the visit wasn’t too ‘stuffy’ with rules. We will definitely return for the eggs florentine and Italian breakfast!

Visited Cafe Max with wife having been on many occasions previously. Karin , Mark and staff we very welcoming as usual and there was an excellent choice of menu. The cafe has a great atmosphere and the food is always tasty and fresh , the service is attentive without being pushy and we love it there .

My first visit and loved it. Great garden at the rear! Lovely selection of food. Will be back soon!

I went for a walk with my friend and by chance we ended up at Cafe Max. We ate in the garden area. The food was absolutely amazing. Fresh sandwiches with masses of tasty filling and fresh salad garnish with crisps. My coffee was so good that I intend to ask which make they use and buy some for home. Thank you Cafe Max. We will be back soon.

Wonderful food and fabulous people . Just a joy to sit out in the garden area with canopys sheltering the seating areas. The staff cannot do enough for you and are so kind and considerate.

Great to see that despite the present restrictions, Cafe Max is still serving the local community. To celebrate the easing of lockdown, we ordered delivery of afternoon tea for 4. Delivery was prompt and friendly and the food delicious, with a wide selection of finger sandwiches, lovely scones and selection of cakes. It really lifted everyone’s mood. Great to be able to support a local business in these difficult times.

Somewhat surprised today to find the takeway coffee reduced to 8 fluid ounce cups, and priced the same as the larger cups we have had over the last three months. Shouldn't the price be reduced to reflect the difference?

Ordered the Fish Finger Sandwich with Chips and a Thai Green Curry (which they made from scratch). The food was really good and the ladies who served us were just as lovely. We would definitely use this cafe again. 😋

Not impressed with the afternoon tea, whilst it was fresh, found it expensive at £26.00 for 2 people but just enough for 1 based on other venues. Also asking for granary bread as this is what we eat.... no granary bread! 2 slices of cue was one sandwich, nothing else in it, processed turkey slice and very thin cheese with pickle. 2 slices of cake and 2 mouthfalls of choc brownie, I think. The scones were nice and fresh with 2 pots jam, 1 clotted cream.

Just popped in to show our support to Cafe Max on Benfleet High Road. Tasty Sausage and Onion sandwiches and the very best German Cheesecake ever, home made by the Manager. Excellent tasty food takeaways and wonderful smiles from the great staff. Keep up the good work Cafe Max, we are with you all the way.

Had a very nice breakfast with family here on Christmas Eve this morning. Very quick service and food was delicious, really good coffee as well.

Excellent food, vegan option which is great, great service, clean and nice atmosphere. Only downside was they charged 50p for a glass of tap water which was bad. Otherwise would be 5 stars.
