Cafe Italia in Coventry

If you're looking for friendly service, this is NOT the place to go. Despite the nice food and warm restaurant decor, the service from the female waiter we received was extremely rude. The waitress was extremely blunt, rushed us to order, and abruptly placed our cutlery down and walked off, despite not having anything else to "rush" off to, and could have provided much better, friendly service. This was not a pleasant date restaurant to go to.

Another lovely meal whilst on a brief trip to Coventry city centre. Great menu choice, large main meal potions and friendly staff. Good all round value for money. One negative (sorry) - outside tables are taken up and appear to be a waiting/meeting hub for Deliveroo/Uber Eats/Just Eat riders plus their bikes/scooters waiting for orders to come through from different local establishments. This is a bit off putting, if it is your first time visiting.

Been in and out of this café lots and lots however my last experience was amazing. We recently discovered my son has allergies and they went out of their way to provide a meal which was safe for my son. I can’t thank the staff enough the cake and coffee is wonderful very good value for money, highly recommend this lovely little cafe.

What a great find! Our first evening in Coventry, we caught the local bus into the city (following the disastrous meal service in our hotel) and decided to call in for a cake and coffee because it was starting to rain. Both coffee and cake were great! So we decided to go back the next two days for meals and we were certainly not disappointed. Menu is varied, the meals we had (pizza and Lasagna) were freshly cooked, hot, large in quantity and absolutely delicious. The staff are friendly, the service is 100% and this place is certainly great value for money. Facilities are spotless. Highly recommended if you are visiting or staying in Coventry.

We’re not local but visited last year for the first time. Back this weekend for a superb breakfast inc tea for £8.95. We’ll be back next year

Visited on a busy Wednesday lunch time. The cafe was busy and buzzing. We managed to grab a table. We ordered Spicy tomato home made soup with slices of ciabatta, it did not disappoint, a very tasty, thick tangy soup. We also had two cappuccinos. The service was quick and the staff were friendly and efficient, this light lunch set us up for our sight seeing walk of the city centre.

I rated Cafe Italia the way I did because the Service and Food was excellent. I had the Turkish breakfast, which came with a pot of tea and was very enjoyable. The staff member who served me was polite and very attentive, and I will definitely visit again when I'm in the area.

Without a doubt the very best cafe in Coventry! The breakfast is a thing of perfection and ridiculously cheap for what you get and the standard!

Went today for brunch and it was lovely, I had the triple decker club sandwich which was awesome, also they always serve a great latte also

A jolly nice busy Italian style bistro with attentive quick service and tasty food . Nice decor and good food that is really quite cheap for the quality and portions . I had a delicious goats cheese salad , my teenager had a very tasty burger . It lives up to the good reviews .

Found comfort in a rainy day. Menu is so big you get lost, opted for a croque madame that was just right. Ordered some sides but could have done without, portions are really big. Only mishap I ordered peas and got beans instead, not a big deal as with the taverna like environment was a pleasant experience.

It is all just microwaved from frozen We had 3 different meal and honest so poor standard Burn our mouth the give away sign fiord arrived so quick almost not got my coat off. It is the worst meal i have had in a restaurant since way before lock down. Nothing is home made all frozen food that makes you feel so i’ll afterwards

To be honest we only ended up here because Spoons over the road was absolutely packed, and I was with my elderly Mum so we didn't want to walk too far. We tried this place as it looked nice and casual but not McDonalds casual, and what a brilliant find. It hit the ground running for me by not only serving breakfast all day (my pet hate is places that can't seem to manage breakfast after midday despite having a lot of the constitutent ingredients in other dishes), but also that they did Eggs Benedict. And it was easily one of the best EB I've had, perfectly poached eggs, crispy bacon and lovely light hollandaise. I wanted to lick the plate when I'd finished. My mum had the crepes with maple syrup and ice cream (or you can have pour cream if you prefer) and she thoroughly enjoyed it. We didn't have any booze as it was slightly too early in the day even for me, but I liked that it's licenced so we could have had a drink if we'd wanted and I'll definitely be going back for a late lunch accompanied by wine very soon. I really liked the mix of the menu too, there's a full breakfast menu (must mention again that it's available all day, major tick!), lots of pizza and pasta dishes, burgers, salads, classics like scampi and chips, baked potatoes etc., as well as crepes and other desserts. I was trying to surreptitiously look at other tables orders to see what they looked like and the first impression was enormous portion sizes, and with the range on the menu it's easy for everyone to have something completely different. Probably why it's popular with families as the kids can have a burger while the parents can have something a bit more grown up, so it was a bit noisy with howling kids at one point, however it was Saturday afternoon so everywhere else would be too. Only slight downside would be the drinks are a bit overpriced, at £2.50 for a small bottle of Coke, but conversely I thought the food was reasonably priced considering the quality and quantity, so it evens out. Will be taking the other half there for that boozy lunch very soon!

The efiiciency of this place is amazing. Your order is quickly taken, and ten minutes later the wonderful food arrives. A great place to watch the world go by. I would come to Coventry just to eat lunch here

We dropped into the cafe on Saturday whilst our kids were at the wave, what a find!! The atmosphere was nice and relaxing. The food was amazing, we had the goats cheese and Caesar salad’s and they were massive and amazing. So tasty!!! The service was good and the staff were helpful. We don’t come from the area however we are keen to go back.

This café is cosy, welcoming and even better if you get a window seat where you can watch the world go by. We enjoyed full English breakfasts and they most certainly kept us well nourished for the full day ahead. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and good value for money. This place has a busy and 'active' vibe. Tables are quite close to one another. It is clearly popular and was pretty full when we visited a weekday lunchtime. Service was adequate: not particularly welcoming and our order was not delivered accurately. Food did arrive...

I paid a visit to this restaurant yesterday and I left hugely disappointed: I bought a take away pasta al pomodoro, at first I was charged £. 7.50, but after a while, the assistant asked for some extra money, no price list was available, and I did not argue. Later on, I checked the take away menu I put in my bag before leaving, and I realised I was charged for a pasta all'arrabbiata (this is the correct spelling...) instead... Very good food at very reasonable prices in this bustling eatery. A welcome change from the various chains.You can get a filling Full English or go for one of the very tasty Italian dishes. Really good pizzas. Good service.We like to eat here and then go across the road to Wetherspoons for some real ale.

This café serves good food at a reasonable price. The coffee was delicious and they have the very best Redbush Tea (Tick Tock).The service was OK, but we had to go over to the counter and ask for more coffee when there was no waiter in the dining area ( it was towards the end of the opening time and the café was quiet).The worst thing of all is they only seem to have a single (unisex) toilet. It was not well appointed and needs a rebuild (in my opinion). If it is the only toilet (the café was quiet so I didn't need to look for another) then it could get awkward when the café gets busy.

This is a very popular place in Coventry, where Italian food really tastes Italian. I have been eating here many times and never been disappointed, staff is friendly and helpful, and food is really tasty as it should be. Lovely restaurant in the heart of Coventry, close to the main bus stops, two minutes away from Pool Meadow bus station, a must for lovers of real food, made with proper ingredients.

I’ve been there plenty of time with my friends and family. It was perfect. However when I went last week one of the staff member was rude and I ordered the lasagna which was served cold in the middle. I ask to heat it up the staff member said no. Online it’s say on there menu that the lasagna is for £6.50 however when in the cafe the lasagna was for £8.95.

I'm always in here food is delicious. Had an Hawaiian pizza with mushrooms and anchovies. Lol don't knock it till you've tried it. Prices average Staff are very nice

Went to this place a day ago for breakfast , and it was better than expected. Me and my partner had the Turkish breakfast which was really good. Portion are large, and prices are very decent. Also, the service is really quick. Presentation was also great. Definitely going again sometime!

Food is always freshly cooked with excellent choice on the menu. The staff are efficient and polite and are quick to clear tables so whenever you walk in any tables have always been cleared ready for next customer

One of the best places to have lunch in Coventry is Cafe Italia. It's near the bus station and the shops, it has lots of tables, the staff are very efficient and pleasant and the food is lovely!

I've walked past this place probably hundreds of times but at a friends suggestion we visited. The lunch menu is huge but, of course, this is provided using frozen items. Hence the mussels, whilst tasting okay, contained many broken shells. The chicken was preformed 'manufactured' fillets. Not what you'd expect at all. Food was tasty enough and at a good price. If we eat there again it will be based on understanding how they manage their menu: there are plenty of items available which would be fine

Four of us went in here Sunday for meals, we ordered Lasagna, Mushroom Risotto, Beefburger, and Scampi and chips. all our meals were very good. we had coffee after.

Monday was my first visit to this lovely little place in Coventry. We fancied a little stop off for a coffee and remembered we'd not tried Cafe Italia yet. Once we were in we looked at the menu and ended up ordering breakfast as the menu was too tempting!

We stopped off in Coventry at lunchtime and saw the cafe so decided to try it out. We weren’t disappointed. I had a Full English which was very good quality and value, especially as an excellent americano came with it. My wife had a tuna nicoise salad which was also great quality and value. Service was excellent and we look forward to stopping off there again some time

I was recommended this place when I was asking for places that serve breakfast in the afternoon. I must say I was not disappointed, the breakfast was a good price, good size and came promptly. I cannot fault the place as they catered to my preferences for wanting brown bread and sweeteners with my tea. Very happy with the service

Looking for Lunch while visiting the West Midlands, we came upon Cafe Italia in Coventry town center, it looked nicer and more inviting than a few other establishments we had glanced at locally.

Went here for brunch. Service was amazing. Fast and friendly. Food was awesome. Would definitely recommend.

It was a cold day and I'd walked round Coventry in a fruitless search for a present for my Granddaughter. I was about to give up looking for somewhere other than that US chain with the clown when I noticed Care Italia.

This is a nice friendly and warm restaurant where you can enjoy hot and cold food. I have always enjoyed their hot chocolate with cream absolutely gorgeous. The food is presented well and tastes great. Although the food seems pricey it is worth it.

Had an early dinner on a Saturday after an afternoon of shopping. It was great to relax with a cold Moretti beer followed by mixed olives, pizza and grilled halloumi salad. Finished with a Turkish coffee. Great food, staff very friendly and helpful, lovely decor and atmosphere.

Like a cross between a cafe and a restaurant which means excellent coffee, great sandwiches, breakfasts and snacks as well as good quality pizza, all at a damn good price!What other cafe do you know of where you can order a lovely posh tiramisu for £3?Beautiful design inside, homely and arty.You'll also find, apart from the people coming in for the evening wine and pizza, people just having a cup of tea and reading the paper after work. It's a really comfy feel in there.Try the turkish coffee which is served traditionally and is great :)

Having never been before (and not knowing it even existed) my Mum took me here for lunch and I was really surprised. It was popular but still plenty of tables available, even though a large group of about 20 were in for a Birthday. The waitress came to our table quickly and the menu was varied and very reasonably pricedI opted for tuna wrap and my mum had smoked salmon and scrambled egg. The drinks came quickly and the food not too long after. Portions were generous and food hot and really tasty, with salad and crisps to garnish.With drinks (one of them wine) the total was £14, a great price too - we will definitely be going back (often!) :-)

Visited many times and have always had friendly staff and efficient service.Perfect for a light bite , a lunch or evening meal or just for their amazing desserts!Great quality food and homemade. Large variety available from Paninis and jacket potatoes to pizza , chips and chicken wings. A particular favourite of ours is the coffee , waffles and Tiramisu.100% recommend and handy if you want to visit the Transport museum.

Came here initially because it was the nearest decent place to the gym, but that turned out to be providential. All the dishes we have sampled at top-notch, damn fine.Try the Seafood Tagliatelle if you come and you'll see what I mean. Currently my favourite eatery.

Coventry is Fanta city for food and drink lovers and city centre is the hub of variety. I found Cafe Italia on a casual walk around the streets. I instantly found the seat by the wall and within two minutes a smiling face greet me and asked me what would I like to have? Since I'm a fan of panini and eat halal meat so the halal on menu grabbed my attention. I ordered chicken panini with fresh orange juice. Juice came in about three minutes fresh and chilled followed by hot and crisp panini in another four minutes. Panini was served with salad and their own made crisp. My overall experience of that place was amazing and it's my definite place to eat on next shopping trip.

This cafe is located not far from Coventry's central shopping area. There is table service. It serves a full English breakfast which seems to be very popular. I just called in for coffee and enjoyed the break from shopping. Although it is a cafe it does have a drinks license.

I arrived after my friends has started so I went up to the counter and ordered, The staff were so obliging I had hardly sat down at my drink came and then my meal - so we all managed to eat together, Perfect service and staff lovely.

A friendly welcome, fast service and a good lunch. I picked penne pasta in pesto sauce. The sauce was thick and creamy, the chicken plentiful. Very reasonably priced too. Wooden decor - some tables more rustic than others. One wall covered in Italian-themed photographs, another of bare brick but with various antique-looking kitchen implements hanging on it. Large windows look out on to Trinity St and there are tables outside, though not a good idea for January. It probably is not a place for a big night out but just fine for a lunchtime stop.

I have been frequenting this establishment for quite some time and I have to say each visit has left me more dissatisfied.On my last visit I wasn't asked what type of bread I wanted for my club sandwich and when it arrived with plain white I asked for brown to which I was told they can supply me with the additional brown bread but I will have to swap the club sandwich over myself. Can u imagine the mess that made with all its ingredientsVery disappointed.

This is a excellent café come restaurant , service always fast no matter how full they are and the food is very good Italian grub and large potions. When ever I visit Coventry I always make this my lunch stop, you can see into the kitchen and all looks clean as well as busy, also easy to find as it's opposite the weatherspoons which is a big Black and White pub, and just down to the left. Staff are friendly and welcoming,looking forward to my next visit, very reasonable priced food and drink..

Lovely non-English ladies waiting staff, sharp and quick chef, beautiful restaurant with Italian interior decor, many dining table available with each got it's personal Italian touch and most importantly the food. We had Full Turkish Breakfast for just £6.10 which consist of Turkish coffee, Well done halal beef sausages, two sunny side up eggs, Turkish cheese cubes, cucumber slices, 4 piece of toasts and tomatoes. Made my day.

Walking past with lots of shopping bags and popped in for a coffee. Had a fruit scone, and we were impressed with the quick service, tasty milky coffee, and lovely warm soft scones. Came again for a Sunday breakfast, and very well cooked, reasonably priced, tasty meats. (Had the 1/2 brekkie with drink included) lovely staff again. Very relaxed atmosphere, interesting decor, extensive menu, good location near cathedral and bus station. When I am in Coventry shopping with my mum this is the place we think of to come. Give it a go :)

This is the 3rd time we have eaten in this restaurant. Its good food at great prices. We had a wrap this time and it was so filling i couldn't manage the crisps that come with it. I want to try a dessert but i'm always too full up. The menu has lots on it from club sandwiches to lasagne.The service is good. Not particularly that friendly but polite and efficient.We would definatly return as each time the food has been good.
