Cafe Italia in Coventry

This is my go to place to eat whenever I pop into town and every time the food and service is excellent. I have never had a bad meal here and even my children insist we go whenever we can. Yesterday we had ribs and calzone and each dish was delicious.

We had an issue with part of our home delivery but the manager sorted it & re-delivered the whole order again himself with additional cake! Excellent customer service, he really went over and above.

It’s a great place for breaks. Very nice coffee and hot chocolate. They have got delicious foods. They have got extreme good breakfast for affordable prices.

I paid a visit to this restaurant yesterday and I left hugely disappointed: I bought a take away pasta al pomodoro, at first I was charged £. 7.50, but after a while, the assistant asked for some extra money, no price list was available, and I did not argue. Later on, I checked the take away menu I put in my bag before leaving, and I realised I was charged for a pasta all'arrabbiata (this is the correct spelling...) instead... I was a huge fan of this restaurant and can understand mistakes can occur, but I felt it was not a mistake, just a way to make some extra cash...

I went to Coventry for a meeting and when I was passing this place I decided to get in for a coffee. The decor is simple and maybe a bit dated but somehow went very well with the building so I didn't mind. The service was absolutely spotless, I was served by three waitresses and they were all friendly, with a smile and happy to chat and ask how my day was going. I had a look at the menu and thought to have something small to eat so I ordered Croque Madame. The portion was huge with well seasoned side salad and crisps. Have a look at the pictures to appreciate the size and also very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend Cafe Italia for its great food and service.

They have simple, affordable breakfast options. The food is tasty. Nothing much to complain. Convenient location in city centre.

A lovely authentic feel to this busy restaurant with a good view of Trinity street. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient and there is a good selection of food to choose from which is all reasonably priced. The tuna, mayo, sweetcorn and red onion panini was served with a salad and crisps. The Halloumi burger came with a salad and chips - both meals were well presented, freshly prepared and tasty. My first visit but it will not be my last.

Speedy service with a smile, good, basic, plain and plentiful cooking, huge, filling breakfasts. But cramped though.

Quiet Sunday afternoon for lunch. Many free tables and waitress came straight away. Lasagne with salad and chips. It was tasteless, and a bit more spice and taste of tomato will do, but size of portion was fine. Come back? Maybe, since there must be more on the huge menu which is worth a try

Very good food at very reasonable prices in this bustling eatery. A welcome change from the various chains.You can get a filling Full English or go for one of the very tasty Italian dishes. Really good pizzas. Good service.We like to eat here and then go across the road to Wetherspoons for some real ale.

This café serves good food at a reasonable price. The coffee was delicious and they have the very best Redbush Tea (Tick Tock).The service was OK, but we had to go over to the counter and ask for more coffee when there was no waiter in the dining area ( it was towards the end of the opening time and the café was quiet).The worst thing of all is they only seem to have a single (unisex) toilet. It was not well appointed and needs a rebuild (in my opinion). If it is the only toilet (the café was quiet so I didn't need to look for another) then it could get awkward when the café gets busy.

This café serves good food at a reasonable price. The coffee was delicious and they have the very best Redbush Tea (Tick Tock).

This is a very popular place in Coventry, where Italian food really tastes Italian. I have been eating here many times and never been disappointed, staff is friendly and helpful, and food is really tasty as it should be. Lovely restaurant in the heart of Coventry, close to the main bus stops, two minutes away from Pool Meadow bus station, a must for lovers of real food, made with proper ingredients.

I’ve been there plenty of time with my friends and family. It was perfect. However when I went last week one of the staff member was rude and I ordered the lasagna which was served cold in the middle. I ask to heat it up the staff member said no. Online it’s say on there menu that the lasagna is for £6.50 however when in the cafe the lasagna was for £8.95.

I'm always in here food is delicious. Had an Hawaiian pizza with mushrooms and anchovies. Lol don't knock it till you've tried it. Prices average Staff are very nice

Went to this place a day ago for breakfast , and it was better than expected. Me and my partner had the Turkish breakfast which was really good. Portion are large, and prices are very decent. Also, the service is really quick. Presentation was also great. Definitely going again sometime!

Food is always freshly cooked with excellent choice on the menu. The staff are efficient and polite and are quick to clear tables so whenever you walk in any tables have always been cleared ready for next customer

We stopped off hear for a bite to eat before a concert I Han the home made Lamb Curry and the wife hade The Carbonara both were hot and tasty.The staff were very friendly

One of the best places to have lunch in Coventry is Cafe Italia. It's near the bus station and the shops, it has lots of tables, the staff are very efficient and pleasant and the food is lovely!

The food was nice, the portions huge and a good variety of choice. Quite busy in the morning but the service was quite fast ad well. Prices affordable

Went here for the first time with my wife and 2 other friends one of whom uses it quite often, I can now see why, it is comfortable, very clean, and has a nice atmosphere, the food is excellent, the service is very good they are very attentive without being annoying

I've walked past this place probably hundreds of times but at a friends suggestion we visited. The lunch menu is huge but, of course, this is provided using frozen items. Hence the mussels, whilst tasting okay, contained many broken shells. The chicken was preformed 'manufactured' fillets. Not what you'd expect at all. Food was tasty enough and at a good price. If we eat there again it will be based on understanding how they manage their menu: there are plenty of items available which would be fine

Four of us went in here Sunday for meals, we ordered Lasagna, Mushroom Risotto, Beefburger, and Scampi and chips. all our meals were very good. we had coffee after.

Monday was my first visit to this lovely little place in Coventry. We fancied a little stop off for a coffee and remembered we'd not tried Cafe Italia yet. Once we were in we looked at the menu and ended up ordering breakfast as the menu was too tempting!

We stopped off in Coventry at lunchtime and saw the cafe so decided to try it out. We weren’t disappointed. I had a Full English which was very good quality and value, especially as an excellent americano came with it. My wife had a tuna nicoise salad which was also great quality and value. Service was excellent and we look forward to stopping off there again some time

I was recommended this place when I was asking for places that serve breakfast in the afternoon. I must say I was not disappointed, the breakfast was a good price, good size and came promptly. I cannot fault the place as they catered to my preferences for wanting brown bread and sweeteners with my tea. Very happy with the service

Looking for Lunch while visiting the West Midlands, we came upon Cafe Italia in Coventry town center, it looked nicer and more inviting than a few other establishments we had glanced at locally.

Went here for brunch. Service was amazing. Fast and friendly. Food was awesome. Would definitely recommend.

Decided to have a quick lunch and know the service and food is always good and the burgers we ordered were excellent and witb the chips an salad made a filling enjoyable meal. Will be back.

We were looking for somewhere to have breakfast but don't like the corporate type places. we prefer independents.

It was a cold day and I'd walked round Coventry in a fruitless search for a present for my Granddaughter. I was about to give up looking for somewhere other than that US chain with the clown when I noticed Care Italia.

This is a nice friendly and warm restaurant where you can enjoy hot and cold food. I have always enjoyed their hot chocolate with cream absolutely gorgeous. The food is presented well and tastes great. Although the food seems pricey it is worth it.

I love going to this place when we come shopping to coventry very good choice on the menu the waitress always work hard and the food is always served very quickly and exceptionally good quality.

Had an early dinner on a Saturday after an afternoon of shopping. It was great to relax with a cold Moretti beer followed by mixed olives, pizza and grilled halloumi salad. Finished with a Turkish coffee. Great food, staff very friendly and helpful, lovely decor and atmosphere.

Had a lovely lunch with friends staff were very friendly. Not a massive menu which is a good thing. Has a very nice atmosphere and there was no rush for us to get of the table once we had finished

Love this place, when I come home to visit Coventry from Australia. I always come here for the full English breakfast. It's amazing, the best I've had. Service is great, food is yummy and pricing is very good.

Ordered the full English and were not disappointed. Absolutely delicious, there's quite a few lacklustre breakfasts around Cov but this isn't one of them! Waitress was lovely, decor is great. Will definitely come again.

Like a cross between a cafe and a restaurant which means excellent coffee, great sandwiches, breakfasts and snacks as well as good quality pizza, all at a damn good price!What other cafe do you know of where you can order a lovely posh tiramisu for £3?Beautiful design inside, homely and arty.You'll also find, apart from the people coming in for the evening wine and pizza, people just having a cup of tea and reading the paper after work. It's a really comfy feel in there.Try the turkish coffee which is served traditionally and is great :)

Having never been before (and not knowing it even existed) my Mum took me here for lunch and I was really surprised. It was popular but still plenty of tables available, even though a large group of about 20 were in for a Birthday. The waitress came to our table quickly and the menu was varied and very reasonably pricedI opted for tuna wrap and my mum had smoked salmon and scrambled egg. The drinks came quickly and the food not too long after. Portions were generous and food hot and really tasty, with salad and crisps to garnish.With drinks (one of them wine) the total was £14, a great price too - we will definitely be going back (often!) :-)

Visited many times and have always had friendly staff and efficient service.Perfect for a light bite , a lunch or evening meal or just for their amazing desserts!Great quality food and homemade. Large variety available from Paninis and jacket potatoes to pizza , chips and chicken wings. A particular favourite of ours is the coffee , waffles and Tiramisu.100% recommend and handy if you want to visit the Transport museum.

Came here initially because it was the nearest decent place to the gym, but that turned out to be providential. All the dishes we have sampled at top-notch, damn fine.Try the Seafood Tagliatelle if you come and you'll see what I mean. Currently my favourite eatery.

Coventry is Fanta city for food and drink lovers and city centre is the hub of variety. I found Cafe Italia on a casual walk around the streets. I instantly found the seat by the wall and within two minutes a smiling face greet me and asked me what would I like to have? Since I'm a fan of panini and eat halal meat so the halal on menu grabbed my attention. I ordered chicken panini with fresh orange juice. Juice came in about three minutes fresh and chilled followed by hot and crisp panini in another four minutes. Panini was served with salad and their own made crisp. My overall experience of that place was amazing and it's my definite place to eat on next shopping trip.

This cafe is located not far from Coventry's central shopping area. There is table service. It serves a full English breakfast which seems to be very popular. I just called in for coffee and enjoyed the break from shopping. Although it is a cafe it does have a drinks license.

I arrived after my friends has started so I went up to the counter and ordered, The staff were so obliging I had hardly sat down at my drink came and then my meal - so we all managed to eat together, Perfect service and staff lovely.

A friendly welcome, fast service and a good lunch. I picked penne pasta in pesto sauce. The sauce was thick and creamy, the chicken plentiful. Very reasonably priced too. Wooden decor - some tables more rustic than others. One wall covered in Italian-themed photographs, another of bare brick but with various antique-looking kitchen implements hanging on it. Large windows look out on to Trinity St and there are tables outside, though not a good idea for January. It probably is not a place for a big night out but just fine for a lunchtime stop.

Quality food, tastes amazing and service was great. The atmosphere was lovely, and the decor was very authentic and rustic. Was a great experience and I will be returning.

I have been frequenting this establishment for quite some time and I have to say each visit has left me more dissatisfied.On my last visit I wasn't asked what type of bread I wanted for my club sandwich and when it arrived with plain white I asked for brown to which I was told they can supply me with the additional brown bread but I will have to swap the club sandwich over myself. Can u imagine the mess that made with all its ingredientsVery disappointed.

This is a excellent café come restaurant , service always fast no matter how full they are and the food is very good Italian grub and large potions. When ever I visit Coventry I always make this my lunch stop, you can see into the kitchen and all looks clean as well as busy, also easy to find as it's opposite the weatherspoons which is a big Black and White pub, and just down to the left. Staff are friendly and welcoming,looking forward to my next visit, very reasonable priced food and drink..

Lovely non-English ladies waiting staff, sharp and quick chef, beautiful restaurant with Italian interior decor, many dining table available with each got it's personal Italian touch and most importantly the food. We had Full Turkish Breakfast for just £6.10 which consist of Turkish coffee, Well done halal beef sausages, two sunny side up eggs, Turkish cheese cubes, cucumber slices, 4 piece of toasts and tomatoes. Made my day.

Walking past with lots of shopping bags and popped in for a coffee. Had a fruit scone, and we were impressed with the quick service, tasty milky coffee, and lovely warm soft scones. Came again for a Sunday breakfast, and very well cooked, reasonably priced, tasty meats. (Had the 1/2 brekkie with drink included) lovely staff again. Very relaxed atmosphere, interesting decor, extensive menu, good location near cathedral and bus station. When I am in Coventry shopping with my mum this is the place we think of to come. Give it a go :)

This is the 3rd time we have eaten in this restaurant. Its good food at great prices. We had a wrap this time and it was so filling i couldn't manage the crisps that come with it. I want to try a dessert but i'm always too full up. The menu has lots on it from club sandwiches to lasagne.The service is good. Not particularly that friendly but polite and efficient.We would definatly return as each time the food has been good.

Situated by the church in Coventry not far from the cathedral. We had a lovely meal. I had the burger and all the meals were reasonably priced. Staff were very good and we didn't have to wait long. Would recommend.

Over the last couple of years this particular restaurant is my favorite for good quality food, great value for money, friendly staff, continental dishes, pizza, pasta, sandwiches and cooked breakfast menu; I love the Croque Monsieur (Ham, Toast, Cheese Sauce + Salad Garnish & Crisps). Always good!

What a gem of a place! Needed a drink and quick bite to eat at lunchtime. Ordered pot of tea which came with hot water top up - don't see that very often! Goats cheese & caramalised onion Panini was delicious, and came with a fab salad and crisps. Service was efficient and friendly; atmosphere was warm, friendly and authentic; menu comprehensive. If I lived in Coventry I would call in all the time. VERY highly recommended.

Tried to eat here some time ago, they pleaded ignorance on understanding my dietary condition(gluten free), so left. Decided to try and get some lunch again yesterday, thinking as the new allergen law is firmly in place, they would be more accommodating, how wrong could I be. A male member of staff, a chef I beleive, totally refused to discuss the menu with me, informing me I could only have a salad!. On the menu, vegetarian is clearly marked. As far as I could see, there were no signs advising of allergens in their food. I would like to know how they are getting away with treating customers with an illness like this. Coeliac Disease is an illness not a FAD!!!!!!!!! If you are visiting Coventry and have a food allergy, I suggest you steer clear of this establishment! !!!!

We visited this restaurant twice on our trip to coventry and both times enjoyed the food. Theres plenty of variety on the menu from pasta to paninis. The portions are generous and prices reasonable.The cafe has a rustic setting and the staff were friendly and efficient.

There is always a clue when no one asks if your meal is OK either whist you are eating or at the end. I had a baked potato that was large but it wasn't very hot and it contained so many black eyes that there must be no quality control in the kitchen. The other meal we had was even poorer. Will only return in sheer desperation.

I came in as I had an hour to kill in Coventry waiting to meet someone and I had a raging hangover so naturally I fancied a burger and chips, came across this place and I am a bit fussy when it comes to choosing somewhere to eat, but it looked nice from the outside so I popped in, amazing table service, really nice waitresses unfortunately I didn't catch their names, food was an absolute delight burger chips and coffee exactly what the doctor ordered, walked out the door humming the pleasant music with absolute smile on my face and change in my pocket

This is a great place for brunch on a Saturday, the coffee is good, the staff are friendly, it's not expensive and the service is brisk. Grab a speedy Croque Madame or go for the Turkish breakfast if you have a bit more time.Tip generously, these guys work hard.

Locale carino , è possibile posteggiare l'auto nel vicinissimo centro commerciale e raggiungerlo in pochi minuti a piedi . Cibo di qualità e porzioni abbondanti . Abbiamo preso una caesar salade , dei club sandwich e costolette di maiale . Ambiente tranquillo e buon servizio , prezzi accettabilissimi. Servizi igienici sottodimensionati ( bagno unico per uomini e donne ! )

There is everything for everyone. We ordered English breakfast, lasagna, calzone, and burger. There are also nice salads and curry. Good portion of food and fast services. Crepe is also delicious!

Visiting Coventry for the day we arrived at the bus station walking along Trinity Street we called into Cafe Italia a sign on the door was a trip advisor award for excellence for 2014. We were served quickly by a waitress. The coffee was very good the service was good. Well worth a visit.

Visited here for a quick lunch with friends. Really promptly seated and served for drinks and then meals arrived again quickly and were fantastic. I had the Calzone which I've had at another restaurant of significant high street chain status, and this one was ten times better packed with filling to the top!! When I went to pay was staggered at how reasonable it was. Nice to have something like this in Coventry, so many chain restaurants. I don't visit Coventry much anymore unfortunately but I'll now know where to return too. Thank you.

Lovely food. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Very quirky decor. The place is always full whenever we go - but the service has always been fantastic and we have always received our food quite quickly.

A great little cafe-we went for breakfast. Hubby had a full English and LOVED it. I had scrambled aggs and salmon, super food and great service, all at a very reasonable price. If you want a cooked breakfast on a Sunday morning (not much else open in Cov) GO HERE! Great range of food too.

Quite confused on the decor however was nice and quirky.Service pretty poor as our order came out wrong and was then told we couldn't share a pot of tea as there wouldn't be enough tea. However we managed 4 cups ???No greeting or thank you when we left.

Went here with a friend for dinner and ordered the lasagna. Food was delicious and was brought out quickly. Attentive server was smiley and friendly. The decor is great and the place has a great atmosphere. Would go again!
