Food was great and customer service really good but the lamb chops seemed to have been soaked in salt as couldn't eat them and was the thing I was most excited about. Also never got the kebab I ordered but the staff ensured me it was in the bag so I gave up complaining. The fish and chips were also ruined as the box created too much condensation so although the fish was nice the chips took a hit and were soggy. Forgot to add salt and vinegar to the comment box but to be honest the lamb chops have taken up my years allowance. Everything else was perfect though so would recommend if you're starving at 2am 🤩

Overall good but here are things I didn't like about it >"European vegetables" = frozen mixed veg > asked them to avoid dairy (lactose intolerant also vegan) and was given pakora sauce which was clearly 80% milk when they could of just given me chilli sauce instead But really overall pretty good and I can't really complain when I'm someone who sleeps all day then wake up at 1am and orders curry for breakfast

Although delivery was quite quick, most of the chips were frozen stiff & dry which meant a lot of them went in the bin. But the WORST part of this order, was the fact I'd actually overpaid and wasn't even offered my change and the delivery guy just walked off. Now, the food may be ok at best but DEFINITELY not worth over a tenner just for chips and a slice of cake (a larger order would be different)!!! The place should make sure with the delivery folk EXACTLY how much each delivery costs to ensure no one is being overcharged! Because of this experience, I doubt I'd recommend or order from here again.

This cosy restaurant on Great Western Road ticks all the boxes if you want informal dining with excellent food at very competitive prices. The bill is somewhat reduced by BYOB with a nearby SPAR offering a wide range of chilled beverages. The staff member was very attentive and entertaining with relaxed Glasgow banter. Whilst we went in the evening with our daughter I would consider going back at lunchtime for their tapas deal.

We visited cafe India tapas on a Sunday evening having heard good reports. When we got our food, 55 minutes after arriving it was delicious. It was a long wait however and this was not made easier by the two customers sitting at the back of the restaraunt downing a bottle of Spirits between them within that time, swearing like troopers and then loudly playing their own music on their phone. I was inclined to intervene but was implored not to by my partner. Disappointingly the staff did not intervene at any stage and infact seemed slightly intimidated by the pair. The food was the highlight but service is slow and ambiance non existent. Very disappointed.

There are an abundance of Indian's in Glasgow so there really is a lot of competition. Café India Tapas is just fine - not particularly excellent but not bad either. It's quite informal. Our server had a lot of personality and she was very funny and added a nice spark to the restaurant. It was particularly quiet for a Friday night. We dined on a good deal of 5 tapas, nan and rice for £25 so the meal was good value. The food was just ok - the lamb was very tough and the fish pakora was served with a tartare sauce instead of pakora sauce which I found a bit strange. The saag paneer was nice. They also had no kulfi when ordering desserts which was disappointing. Overall it will need to up it's game if it wants to compete with the best in Glasgow but it does the job for a good value, informal Indian.

We were up in Glasgow for a few days and noticed this restaurant when walking past. We are so glad we decided to try it. The waitress was so lovely and friendly. We went for the tapas and being veggie were really pleased at the choice on the menu. We had 9 for the three of us, there was no way we could finish it all so the waitress kindly bagged the rest up for us. The saag paneer was the best we have ever had, other favourites were the chana Dahl and the okra and onion. The food was perfectly spiced, so tasty and authentic. Being from Manchester we are disappointed we are not closer as we would eat here regularly if we lived nearby. But, thankfully our daughter starts uni in Glasgow in September so we will be back when we come up for weekend visits! Thank you for a really lovely evening.

I'm struggling to reconcile our experience with the reviews on here - I'm only half joking in the title of this review - we did a double take to make sure we were in the right place. maybe we caught it on a bad night but on this visit it just didn't do it for us.positives first - friendly staff,BYOB and some of the meat dishes were quite good (lamb chops and koftas). But some minus points - several fish dishes overcooked - and a lot of the sauces tasted weirdly sweet and sickly. at best I'd describe as OK - would I go back? probably not to be honest.Given the competition in the west end - and in particular, places like mother india's dining in - we just didn't find this comparable, which is a shame as I really wanted to like it.

Dining in the evening of a Sunday when the establishment was empty other than for the departing table as we arrived.Warm welcome with pappadum and relish delivered as we took our table on a mezzanine floor.I chose quite well from daal, lamb curry and lamb chops. My fellow diners also chose quite well from the recommended selection of 2/3 dishes per person. I think amongst the three of us, 7 or 8 dishes would have been perfect, missing out an additional daal and a largely uneaten creamy chicken dish ordered.Jug of iced tap water was provided on request and the manager/ waiter was generally helpfull.Delicate sauce with lamb curry was flavoursome and the highlight of the fare. Nan bread was ok but not up to the standard of a full restaurant nan and probably bought in and reheated but no real complaint, just my opinion as it did not seem out of a tandoor.Just like a pick-n-mix suitable for those who like a broad taste of whats on offer.Compliments to the chef on what was an excellent lamb dish more than comparible with a larger dedicated restaurant. Adjacent to the restaurant on the mezzanine floor is the carry-out area where the chef also preares for the restaurant. Manager was proud of his charge and rightly so.Finally I would chose better next time for accompanying dishes which is the joy of such a venue.Bring your own beer or wine is a feature with no corkage charged.

Would I eat there regularly....Again not sure........BUT, I would eat there every month or two, and recommend it wholeheartedyly to my friends and family. The tapas idea worked well...and offered in a tapas style what many already do..whcih is share dishes. The tapas idea meant this was done cheaper and more dishes were savoured. The staples were excellent (for me this measn Rogan Josh and Chicken Tikka Masala). The peripherals (nan bread and prathas) etc were also great. Starters (pakora) too were at a normal standard for Glasgow (like coffee has to be in Melbourne). Service was impeccable and we brought our own booze along......so we had a ball, and were not charged more than what should have been for the meal.

Cafe India Tapas is in a class of its own. It's in a nice part of Glasgow across the road from the famous Kelvingrove Art Gallery and close to the Kelvingrove Park which has great riverside walks.I'm a regular visitor and I like to go early evening, There is no pre-booking so a later visit may involve a wait at the door for a table. The menu changes but you'll never be disappointed with the quality if you have , like me , sampled Indian food across the cities of the UK.The restaurant interior is unpretentious and the service is pretty rapid. Portions are tapas size and I never have more than 3 with some rice and fresh hot nan straight from the Tandoor oven which I always regard as a marker for good indian, So too with lamb, my favourite. Any lamb combination in Cafe India will be tasty and tender.I also enjoy fish so I order fish pakora which is always crisp and warm and fresh, They make various forms of masala fish which are always delicious.price wise, the Cafe India is not extortionate.I will continue to add a visit to Cafe India when I go for a walk in Kelvingrove Park to listen to some music or sit by the river or when I go to visit the Kelvingrove Art Gallery.Cafe India is one of the best.Go!

I followed the reviews and took my family here for a change. This brightly lit and freshly decorated restaurant seems apt for a informal dining experience. The waiter was attentive from the start and patiently guided us through the seemingly limited menu. Our order taken, we grazed on the customary poppadoms for a few minutes until the food arrived. That was where the experience transformed. Each dish was an individual delight; rich butter chicken, daal that warmed the heart, haddock baked in a crispy spice crust, lamb chops... the meal was fabulous. The notion of Indian Tapas seems like a clash of cultures; but of course the serving of smaller portions is perfectly suited to a dining experience that encourages the sharing and tasting of new flavours. In my view, Cafe India Tapas has set the standard for high quality authentic food at a very reasonable price.

All the staff were very well mannered and welcoming. Prices are very reasonable and ideal for students. Also, the bring your own booze aspects makes it even more ideal for students. Would definitely come back.

The food took well over 1 hour to arrive and I actually got mild food poisoning off it. Had huge stomach cramps all night and the food was not that nice anyway. But when I rang to ask about my delivery because it was so late in arriving, the man on the phone was quite nice and helpful, so that's their saving grace in the end...

This is a fantastic place to enjoy some authentic Indian food in the heart of glasgow! Not only is it reasonably priced but the service and food is outstanding. The atmosphere is warm and cozy perfect for relaxing with a bottle of wine which is even better because cafe India tapas is a BYOB ( bring your own bottle) without a corkage fee!!! If you are visiting the west end or just in town you must stop in for a quick or relaxing dinner whichever works you!

I am a big fan of indian cuisine and I'm always looking to try new places and then I stumbled across this restaurant. I've been a few times to cafe india tapas mainly because they have a huge variety on their menus and the food, to put it bluntly, is so damn good. So the first time I came it was with a few friends and we decided we'd go for burgers, as it was around lunchtime. They gave us complementary spiced onions with papadums. For the main course I went for the classic beef burger and it's safe to say that, was the juiciest beef burger I've ever tasted! The burger was just oozing with so much flavour, I honestly enjoyed each bite. It came with a choice of chips or wedges, I obviously went for wedges and it also came with salad at the side. Very impressed with that meal.I returned not too long after and brought along my family, as me and my family are all indian food lovers. We went for curries this time. This was served in a tapas type style so we ordered four curries which was a good amount for our family and also let us try a variety of different curries at the same time. We went for the: lamb korai, chicken saag, daal and prawn curry. It came with a choice of either naan or rice. All the curries were delicious and they all exceeded our expectations! Take my word for it, you probably won't try a curry as mouth watering as that in any other restaurant, especially the lamb korai, that probably was my favourite.Final comments I'd like to make is that the prices of the food are very affordable and reasonable which is an added bonus, alongside the great service I received each time I went there.Cafe india tapas...definitely one of my favourites!

We had a lovely meal here - food was great and excellent value. Two plates each plus sides was more than enough and byob meant we could spend more on food! Will definitely be coming back. (Also garlic naan is amazing, do order)

While a huge factor in returning to Cafe India Tapas is the fact that we can select some fantastic wines of our own without paying through the nose , the real star here is the food.We 1st tried this place in August last year and were delighted by the selection of food available and by the knowledge of our waiter with regards to food and recommendations. While the selfish bit in me hopes that word about here doesnt spread to widely (so we can always get a table !) I would hate for it not to stand the test of time. I can see Cafe India Tapas being the type of place that will throught time be full of regular diners , helped in no part to the BYOB ! We are going to ensure that we will part of that club. For such a quaint place it is brimming with atmosphere at the weekends with diners brimming at the opportunity to supply your own beer and wine in the City Centre. Please don't change :-)Already booked for our next vist.

We booked 8 people for a work Christmas, ordered the lamb karahi and chicken karahi that feed 4-5 each and take 35min to prepare. The staff figured out what we needed for starters and sides, making hosting easy. The free corkage policy is ace, and we had a great time.

Waited over an hour for delivery before I phoned the restaurant to ask where it was was then told I need to place an order online if I wanted to have food delivered and the phone promptly went dead. A good while later the food finally arrived absolutely stone cold. Awful experience. Will definitely not be ordering from here again.

I went here on a Saturday night for my work night out. I hadn't really heard much about it before going, but we were looking for a bring your own bottle restaurant and this place had good reviews so we decided to book it. We had a fantastic evening here, and couldn't believe how good value everything was. For a mere £15 a head we were given starter platters with pakoras, bhajis etc, then picked 6 curries off the menu of which large servings were given to share, as well as all-we-could-eat pilau rice and assorted naan breads. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough, especially for a large group. Will definitely be returning!

Considered eating here a few times and finally picked up some wine and beers and headed there last night. We started by sharing fish and chicken pakora; and then had 4 dishes plus rice and naan between three people. Everything was brilliant, the pakora took a little while but we were given some extra poppadoms to make up for it. Rather than causing annoyance we were delighted with the opportunity to take our time over dinner rather than feeling rushed as with some Indian restaurants nearby. We will certainly be back.

A little place with a mezzanine floor awaits you as you enter into this small fronted unit. I had never noticed it before , until I was drawn to the board outside proclaiming lunch for a fiver. Decided , what the hell , give it a bash.'Indian Tapa's' is the Menu's war cry. In my speak that just means small portions :-)The decor is clean and fresh , service is attentive but the food is fantastic. I had lamb on the bone with spinach and then chicken on the bone. Both served with rice and nan. The meat fell off the bone and needless to say nothing as left except the bones ! Until now I didn't know this little restaraunt existed and given that it excelled at lunchtime and is Bring Your Own Bottle !!! I will return in the evening on mass with wine in tow :-)A pleasant surprise , when lunch wasn't really on the menu !
