Amazing the full meal was a masterpiece every note every flavour was hit 100%. My palette was singing. Hat off to the head chef 🙌🙌

Terrible never go back had a voucher to use they told me they would take it off or bill then said they couldn’t as it was no longer valid . I had called before we went and explained what had happened they told me bring your voucher it was all good so bad

Loved the food and the place was wonderful.

Food was surprisingly bland, as an Indian myself, I can tell. The dishes seemed to have a lot of stuffs but at the end the taste just wasn't there. Chef needs to learn the basics again.

Exceptional food! Visited here to try the set menu and our expectations were blown away with the quality of the food. Every thing was incredibly tasty & the service was excellent. Friendly, helpful staff & amazing food. Highly recommended!

Looking forward to meal bought as gift by our daughter, from the minute we walked through the door the waiter was rude! As we entered and advised we had reservation at 4pm (as customary) met with growling "we're just opening up" this was 4:02pm...if you don't want customers arriving on time then have a gap between opening and accepting customers. We were then vaguely pointed to a table, glaring at my husband whilst putting menus down. We then witnessed same person abrupt behaviour with other customers before coming back to us, explaining we had a voucher perhaps neeed different menu..he checked iPad and snapped no voucher on booking. At this my husband told him to forget it. We had actually emailed the restaurant as per notice on Itison, no reply, after 2 days I called, made the booking and advised then and as per instruction that we had an Itison Voucher...but apparently this is our fault that their staff do not put on system. Safe to say won't be back, and certainly would not trust this dreadful staff member in serving food to us.

I'm *very* confused. I ordered on just-eat and was forced by the site to click on the Cauliflower Dhansac and Paneer Saag twice each. The receipt has two charges for each item but I only received one of each. Tried calling the restaurant 10 times and no response. The food is (as always) delicious but getting charged £19.90 for a single portion of Paneer Saag and £19.90 for a single portion of Cauliflower Dhansac is OUTRAGEOUS.

We are French tourists and the restaurant was recommended to us by our taxi driver. We had a wonderful dinner with our kids. The dishes are truly delicious and the staff is attentive, nice and funny. I never put comments on google but they really deserve it !

The food was great, many different authentic Indian choices, different to the modernized Indian cuisine. All the curries were onion based, the biryani did not taste like a biryani, however, it was really delicious, but I don’t think I’d consider it a biryani. Arguably best naan bread I’ve had at any Indian restaurant, and the best butter Chicken (had a different more traditional name). The staff were helpful with portion and food choice recommendations. The restaurant’s atmosphere was pleasant, there is also more space down stairs.

Authentic delicious Indian food ! We loved the place :) Although my drink has been forgotten, the service is charming and we had a lot of fun. So I will definitely come back :) The menue shows a great variety of vegetarian and vegan food:)

Wow, on a Friday we selected ASAP delivery and it came in about 20 minutes with a very happy and polite driver. Food was amazing too, warm and fresh. Some interesting choices on the menu and we were happy with our curries, naan and chips. Cheers.

Great Indian restaurant! The food is delicious and the staff is very dedicated! The atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant and the location is great. There are only a handful of good Indian restaurants that serve delicious food and this happens to be one of them. Definately recommend. Give it a try!

Food was perfect - we ordered three vegetarian dishes, one with paneer which was perfectly cooked, and another that was a Cauliflower dhansak with a really nice kick. Staff were very friendly and the portions were generous. 5 stars

Didn’t deliver all items paid for. Poppadoms smashed. Delivery 2.5h late. Ignored when complained via phone and email. No refund for missing items. Do not order from here.

If there was less strata I’d give them. Accepting orders and waiting an hour to cancel them knowing full well you weren’t making it and leaving people hungry at 11pm with not much other delivery options is a joke.

Fabulous food delivery driver great

Very poor avoid at all costs. Change of management this week really shows. Staff with dirty clothes, drips down their top and trousers - nice!! They have a dungeon downstairs they put you in and then forget you exist- be aware. Better off ordering from your local. Don’t waste your money. I regret it.

We decided that we wanted a really good curry, so obviously we chose the Ashoka Each dish was fresh, absolutely delicious and plentiful , the garlic naan was soft and so flavourful Usually I have leftovers with a take away but absolutely scoffed the lot last night!! Lol An absolute triumph xxxxx

Was given a delivery time slot of 52 minutes to 71 minutes after ordering…order came 86 minutes after ordering with no prior contact of the delay. The food was all cold and one of the items had spilled in the delivery bag. The food quality was nowhere near as good as it usually is from this restaurant and the paratha wasn’t cooked properly, it was pretty much just a chapati. Disappointing all round really because I have always enjoyed this restaurant in the past and had ordered this as a treat.

Place is absolute joke took over 2 hours food was stone cold everytime phoned they kept hanging up and also forgot my milkshake curry is like water WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AT ALLL!!!!

I also ordered the galub jamun with ice cream (£5.25), which I was charged for and it didn't come. Refund please

A little background first, this was our go to restaurant back in the late 80's and 90's my daughter used to sit in a high chair eating her fish fingers and nibbling on our chapati, pashwari nan and crispy paratha. This was when it was run by Charan Gill (before he started his empire) his sister and brother. There were queues outside to get seated some days the place was so popular. They had a great chef and the food was always excellent. Back to the present, my daughter had craving for a chicken korma and haggis pakora from Mother India's Cafe, turns out that they don't deliver to our address but Ashoka west end delivered to our area. It's been 20years since I'd last eaten there Nostalgia kicked in and i asked her to order me a chicken patia and a peshwari nan my comfort food from back in the day. Claire ordered told it would be 1 hour 15m, i made coconut rice while we waited, don't like takeaway rice it's always so hard. Got plates ready. Order arrived 1 hour 23m, it was in a dinky little paper carrier bag, no plastic bags anymore, When i looked in the bag and saw the two little white styrofoam burger boxes it didn't bode well for the rest of the meal and so it proved. The nan looked big like it had been in a tandoor but the plastic container with the korma the sauce was sloshing about and when i took out my container the sauce was watery. I knew that this was wrong Patia sauce is always thick sometimes gloopy, claire said that the korma sauce should be creamy but not runny. After she ate the chicken, (the chicken in both meals was good restaurant quality) told me that the sauce was flavourless when i tasted it it tasted like lentils ,no taste of spices or cream, bland. My patia was swimming in a sweet red coloured gravy, I poured most of the gravy away kept the chicken. When i took out the nan to reheat, it was a weird pink colour. they had spread the nan with what i think was a red almond paste and put it in the tandoor, it hadn't risen and it wasn't fluffy and soft. I want my saltanas and coconut back I paid for them. The veg pakora was nice but it tasted more like an onion bahji as the only taste that i got was onlon and at £5.25 for 5 pieces not great value The haggis pakora was 6 pieces for £5.25, I tried one, soft and mushy didn't taste of anything and i like a nice black pudding. Claire says the haggis tastes so much nicer at Mother India's Cafe. The worst takeaway food we've ever had, only the veg pakora was aceptable. This meal cost claire £35. If the owner wishes to tell me what went wrong he can contact me through my email and i will take the reviews down.

Honestly amazing wee place , the staff are fantastic, sukh and his co-workers were amazing , food is 11/10 , service 10/10 , quality 11/10 , P.S old moany Karen’s please respect the workers , it’s not COLD inside and their not mechanics to fix heaters 😂

Order was missing an item but was refused a refund

Placed order at 4.30pm on Sat with requested delivery for 7pm.Advised by Just Eat @7.05pm that order was on the way.It didn’t arrive until 7.50pm.The delivery chap apologised for the delay due to traffic…I mentioned that the restaurant was a 10 minute walk away and the roads where quiet.The food when it arrived was tepid. This restaurant is infamous for late orders at weekends even those where you agree to collect yourself. Food good…. delivery Friday/Sat evening is a nightmare.

They have many reviews but, parts of the order were missing and we called,they said they would send out the missing items with the next driver…waited over an hour and nothing so had to get a refund. Only got parts refunded as some was a meal deal and had no option to select missing items. Overall ruined our meal which wasn’t cheap.

we ordered a korma, it was really liquidy and tasted like tomatoes. None of our group liked it. The naan was fine!

Such delicious food with a big variety and great vegan options! Also very accommodating and friendly staff, would definitely recommend.

Food was great only complaint never got my milkshake

Ordered 2 bhunas food arrived there was so much sauce when I lifted the plate up everything slid of it. Called the restaurant to explain, they sent out 2 fresh bhunas that were a lot better. Even put spiced onions and popadoms in the bag. Super efficient sorting this out, excellent service all round. Will definitely use again.

Order didn't arrive and restaurant phone switched off

we order here all the time and tonight was awful! didn't even receive order 3 hours later!!!! called after 1 hour and half to be told 30 mins. tried to get through for another hour finally got through to be told, order on way but don't know when will be delivered. told them to cancel . Will never order here again!!!

Very late, over an hour, despite saying it was on its way and no answer from the restaurant when trying to phone them.

Took a 2 hours to get the food. Was cold when it arrived, what I could eat was OK. Restaurant was useless when I called.

Have been having takeaways since march last year and they have never let me down. Hands down the best one in town with their authentic flavour and dishes that never seem to get boring.

Lovely small restaurant with fresh meals and produce. Lots of staff about in a small area so can feel like you are being watched but they are all so nice.

2 and half hours from order to delivery. Have ordered from here many times before and food quality had always been good. 2 orders in past 6 weeks have been delayed >2hrs and food cold. Very disappointing.

Delivery estimate was 1820-1840. Only received text from the restaurant at 1920, and food arrived at 1940. I had attempted to contact the restaurant in the meantime but was unable to get through either getting a busy tone or ringing out each time I called over the 40 minutes. Milkshake was left out of the order and again I was not able to get in touch with the restaurant to resolve this. Food arrived lukewarm and soggy as though it had been sitting out for a while.

Very friendly welcome... Very nice jaipuri chicken. Pakora starters great but the Momos were pretty poor. Everything else good though.

Order came and was absolutely freezing! Chips and Nan bread were soggy. Did give the opportunity for manager to return call and discuss however I am still waiting for the call. Not impressed no customer service and certainly won’t be back

Staff were nice, but can’t say the same for the food, I had prawns for starter and they fell apart, which indicates they were not fresh. I also ordered a Kashmiri korma , which was spicy & tasted as if it had been done with tomatoes, very unusual… the restaurant seemed under pressure from the moment I arrived. At one point the waiter came to check we had had our starter, after we had eaten them. Then arrived back at the table to check what we ordered for our mains. I think this was because there was a member of the kitchen cooking staff running out the food with blue kitchen gloves on. It’s a shame about the experience as this is a local restaurant to us. We paid and left but will not be back.

Need more honesty in delivery estimates. Still said 40-55mins for a new order when i waited 2 hrs.

Our food was delivered 30 mins late, was stone cold and the restaurant didn't answer any of my calls. Also, for £4.50, the portion of pakora was very small (7 small, slightly charred pieces). Very disappointed and expect to be contacted ASAP to offer some sort of refund. This is highly unusual for Ashöka and I am left unlikely to reorder from this branch.

Small, friendly restaurant with lovely food.

I've had takeaway from here a few times. The service is fast service and the food is really nice but I'm dropping a star because they use those horrible hard plastic tupperwear tubs that are impossible to recycle. Balbirs just along the road from here use lovely recyclable paper boxes for their takeaway, much preferable!

Food arrived cold and didn’t get the popadoms, when I phoned to ask for a refund on the £10 I spent on the popadoms I was told they could refund and they would send more immediately still waiting meal finished. Poor service.

First time ordering takeaway delivery as it was for a special occasion.called at 4pm and ordered for 630 as friends coming at 7 After about 6 calls finally arrived at almost 7.15 pm Food nothing great all lukewarm and naan bread a disaster, not ideal for £63 Couldn’t recommend, disappointed

Delicious Indian meal served by friendly and attentive staff. Portions were very generous, with lots of paneer and chicken in the mains. Poppadoms came with large pots of spicy onions, but would have benefited from some other dips. Good drink selection and some good-looking desserts - if only we had room!

Very disappointed with carry out meal. Loved this restaurant and food in the past but tonight’s meal was hugely disappointing Chicken patia was like soup! Veg pakora was cold! Had I been eating in the restaurant I’m afraid I would have sent it back to the kitchen. Husband bhuna was ok (his words). Sadly I don’t think we’ll be using this restaurant again.

Rice was off smelling really bad like it was cooked 3/4 days ago. Shahi paneer was rotten. When i asked for refund they said thats our own recipe made with diffrent style. Really teaching an indian how indian food was made absolutely rip off. Waste of money. Serve old cooked food reheated.

Brilliant service excellent and friendly welcoming staff food is amazing

We have ordered from here previously and the food was always very good however our order last night arrived cold, the whole order and not just one item and the rice had clumps in it and the naan bread was cold and hard. Unfortunately this has put me off ordering again.

Terrible customer service, waited an hour and a half for a single main course, had to leave and asked if the remainder of our food could be boxed up and instead it was thrown out. Terrible dining experience

Probably the worst customer service (if you could call it that) I’ve had to deal with in a long time. Order came missing a curry, phoned the restaurant 14 times in the space of an hour on a Saturday night and haven’t had anyone pick up the phone. I’ve still not heard a peep from them. Dreadful from the restaurant and it’s a shame as the food that came was tremendous.
