Ashoka West End in Glasgow City

The food and service here is always excellent and tonight was no exception. Our meals were delicious and we were delighted to be served by Rohan who was very friendly and helpful, giving my son a little tub to take home some haggis pakora he didn’t finish.

We were here on Monday evening. Food and service were first class. Nice and friendly staff and atmosphere. Pricing was also excellent.

My Wife and I just had an amazing Thali lunch here, the food was fantastic and we didn’t have to wait long for it to arrive. The young lady who served us was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Ashoka 😋😋😋

My husband and I had a delicious Thali lunch, booked via an Itison voucher. We had a very warm reception upon arrival by the friendly girl before ordering, and she was very helpful in explaining the various items on the menu (very knowledgeable)! The background music was very nice and at an ideal volume, giving us an authentic atmosphere while still being able to chat. The food was amazing!!! We’ve never had tofu pakora before and definitely want to try it again. We will 100% be coming back.

Husband and I just 'fancied a curry' and knew exactly where we wanted to go. Ashoka -Finnieston. Walked in with no reservation and Sume was a delight. She seated us and gave us enough time to look at the menu. Offering suggestions when we didn't know what to order, and have to say the meal was 'very fresh'. Best curry in town.

1st time visiting and it's the best Indian food I've ever tried, had the Lamb Biryani and the lamb was tender and melted in the mouth, Naan Bread was cooked to perfection and the Chicken Tikka pieces were full of flavour, not to mention the lovely hospitality from the staff when I arrived, 100% recommend!

We were greeted warm and kindly and waited on by Sunita who was very knowledgeable explaining the dishes to order. Her warmth and kindness shone through and helped make our first visit to restaurant and enjoyable experience. We will most certainly plan a return visit.

Vaish and Sunita who were our waiting staff were very attentive and knowledgeable. They certainly added to the atmosphere of the restaurant and our table with their smiley demeanor. The menu was very informative on duetry allergies and catered very well for vegetarians and Vegans

Although not in the direct city centre, this place is well worth a visit. Bus route nearby. Nicely presented restaurant with fine staff and high quality food. I had the Chicken Kathi roll, Lamb Kalia Gosht with Lemon pilau rice. All first class, I will certainly be returning.

Food was great and there was lots of it! We had the chefs special menu which was a set menu. Good choice across the board. We had mango lassi which was so good! We couldnt finish all of it so the staff boxed it so we could take it home. The staff were lovely, Sumi in particular was chatty and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be back.

We came in to get a takeaway, we asked for 2 curries, 2 sides and extra rice. When ordered they charged us £20 over because they added extra items to the menu. Once chain fed we paid in cash and were ask to count our own change which we were under paid. We asked for a receipt to make sure everything was correct since they charged us incorrectly. No receipt was given and 1 hour later our delivery came and we were missing the rice and had the wrong curry. The staff is not trained (they admitted to this themselves) there is no communication between staff, 3 of them ran off their feet asking the same questions without checking with their colleagues. Im typing this in the waiting room with no food I came in at 6:00pm it is now 7:10pm, the food may be good but not worth this.

Got a takeaway for dinner, lamb malaidar is my fav! So tasty especially at medium spice, with a garlic naan, also got paneer curry which was tasty, and a mixed grill starter, plenty of meat and they replaced prawns with extra chicken due to allergies, very accommodating, highly recommended

I was with a party here yesterday it was quite a large group but the staff handled it well. The food was lovely and the staff were very helpful. We had a random really drunk woman come and sit at our table which kind of took the shine from it. This wasn't the restaurants fault as I believe she tagged along with one of the party who then dumped her. Overall a pleasant experience and I would definitely return

Place it self looks tired and dirty. Tables haven't been clean on arrival, served food on stained dishes asked to replace dishes,tables been broken and food stuck in it, Waiter looked tired, ill and had food crumbs on his face. Food itself it was overpriced and very small portion. Also hidden cost for rice.

Easily one of the best Indian restaurants in Glasgow! The food was amazing, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection. The service was just as great—Vaish looked after us on Valentine’s Day and was so lovely and attentive. Can’t recommend this place enough for a relaxed evening out!

So here for a lunch with a xmas voucher, arrived a bit early to find it was a night time voucher, but sumi who served us said it was OK to use, so we had poppadoms and dips, then a starter which was huge, and then our main meal, food was amazing and portions were huge, will defo be returning again.

A cosy and welcoming atmosphere. Amazing, tasty food. Set lunch menu and pre theatre menu's are very good value for money. Service is prompt and servers extremely pleasant and accommodating. Our waitress Vaishnavi was wonderful.

Great little restaurant. Though it's pretty small, and the menu's similarly diminutive, the quality of the food is amazing. Great value for money in a friendly atmosphere, and our waitress, Sumi, could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Would highly recommend.

We used an Itison voucher for our Thali lunch here and it was excellent value at £18 for two people. I ordered from the veg menu and everything was packed with flavour. The staff were friendly and attentive. I’d absolutely return.

Great food and service. Momo accommodates our last minute reservation on a Saturday night. Food was tasty and served quickly, tasted fresh and authentic. Would come again. Paneer butter masala and the pakora are so so good. All wait staff were helpful and friendly.

I had my first curry here when I was 3. I have been a customer through my whole life, as have my family. I took some family out and food was great as ever. However was disappointed when, 1 minute after paying the bill (we had no alcohol and were not rowdy), the music was switched off and the light turned on… as we sat ordering the taxi. It was 22:20, so not yet hitting closing time, and felt unnecessary. Not used to that service in here, which is normally top class, I hope that it was a blip, and things back to normal next time. If so I will amend the review.

We ordered a bottle of white wine which came at room temperature with 2 glasses with lipstick round them, told the waitress the wine was warm and we had to ask for ice to put n the wine to chill it, the wine was meant to be 12% vol but we received 10%, ceylonese korma had a spicy kick to it instead of creamy mild, not a great experience overall

Last Wednesday we had a family meal at the Ashoka Finnieston. The food was delicious, and the portions were plentiful. The staff were friendly and attentive, which added to the whole experience. The staff provided " a doggy bag" for the untouched items from the shared platters. We ordered too much, considering the portions. We highly recommend trying their curries.

Small Indian restaurant on two levels (ground floor and basement. The lower room is much more comfortably furnished. A good 20 minute walk from the Scottish Exhibition Center. Friendly service - thank you Momina for the warm welcome. Very good and authentic Indian dishes, large ones Selection (we really enjoyed the curries and the dal was also excellent). We would be happy to return on our next visit to Glasgow.

It's very good authentic tasting food. Varied selection of starters. Although the dips are often understated, they were delicious and plentiful, particularly the mango chutney and spiced onions. Poppadoms as they should be. Main courses were equally delightful and flavourful. Mushroom rice for something a bit different. Nan bread light and fluffy were a slight char. Friendly service.

We popped on their,food was nice but cooled quickly £70 for three people with one alcoholic half pint abd a soft drink,portions where small soup bowl size did not reflect on the price,we had a lovely girl serving us,and it was not very warm inside if you have a disability toilets downstairs and a step up going into the ashoka with no hand rail and it is dark at night so you eould have to be aware when entering and leaving..

We had the Pre Theatre menu on 23/10/2024, , as 2nd option due to a technical hitch with my itison voucher , the Supervisor was very helpful as we were confused re.the complication, The 2 course meal with fabulous Naan bread was the best we.ve had in Any restaurant, we had visited the restaurant a few years ago , But don.t recall the food being as brilliant as Yesterday "

I don't think I ever eaten such a disgusting curry in my entire life. Ordered the butter chicken and the chasing with garlic naan and chapatti. Both curry were literally drowning in thr exact same sauce, the flavour was sour, texture was gritty and chicken was rock hard. Garlic naan smelled like rotten fish and the chapati was dry as boot. Incredibly disappointing meal, a complete waste of £32. Took a chance as an Asian to order Asian food, definitely won't be making that mistake again. Utterly inedible.

First time visit in a long time and boy was it worth the wait. I had the lamb chops to start. What a feast. Amazing starter. King prawn pardesi was always a favourite and it didn’t disappoint. The new chilli garlic fried rice was awesome. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the Bombay cycle IPA was delicious. Highly recommended.

On Saturday, we ordered from Ashoka directly, as we know that Uber and Deliveroo can charge participating restaurants a lot. Well, I'm never doing that again, and I surely won't be back at Ashoka. Our delivery was supposed to reach us within 60 minutes (although it said 15-35 on Uber Eats). It took 1h35, and three phone calls. The traffic was light (12-minute drive showing on Google Maps at the time). First, we were told the driver had just pick up the order. Then we were told the traffic is horrendous (it was not). Then we were told that heavy rain was causing the deliveries to be slow. There was no rain, and even if the weather was different in Finnieston and Gorbals (which is unlikely), it's impossible for that area to be experiencing Biblical rain that made it hard to drive through when 3-miles down the road there was no rain. The person on the phone kept asking me if I'd ordered via Uber Eats, which makes me think that Ashoka is fully focused on deliveries from that service and ignores their customers who order directly. When I said I'd be complaining and that I'd like my money back, I was told I could email them. Three emails later (it's been 5 days now) I received no response, not even an acknowledgement or an apology. Any other restaurant would refund the money or at least offer a voucher. Not Ashoka. If you don’t wanna wait around for your food for ages, be ignored or taken for an idiot, stay clear.

Had passed numerous times but decided to try out . Well what a delight I’ve been missing , as soon as we arrived our party were attended to hand in foot . A young well presented waiter catered to our every whim , He was well knowledgeable about the dietary requirements as my fiend is lactose n gluten intolerant .He was able to steer us in the right direction both food and drinks . Very well spoken and well heeled waiter Kamal who made the night a reason to remember for service , quality and price . I’m angry at not visiting at an earlier instance as now it’ll be a regular haunt before the city centre that’ll be first port of call Rarely have I’ve been treated like a family member never mind a paying customer , all my foodie friends have been made aware of this hidden gem , thanks to the great night fantastic service and all round enjoyable evening .

Ashoka is a lovely restaurant located right on Ashton Lane. The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful and the staff made us feel welcome right away. They have a wide array of dishes which makes it easy for people of different tastes to find something including those with allergies or dietary restrictions. The waiters were beyond accommodating and even helped us choose the best dish based on our preferences. Most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious! Would definitely recommend and will go again soon. If you want to go on the weekend I’d recommend making a reservation as it can get very busy.

Chaitali served us a great dinner! The service was attentive, prices not high and wine is good. I loved the cooking and the atmosphere. It’s nice to share a large entree and a couple starters. Chaitali was really good at explaining the dishes if you don’t know everything on the menu!
