Mowgli Street Food in Glasgow City

Food was tasty, but very small portions. Service was quick, but once your food is finished they are very quick to get you out, felt like we had to down our drinks and go, when we would have had another few drinks and a dessert , but didn't feel overly welcome to stay a while.

Indian street food toned down to the point of being nearly bland, clearly tailored for western palates. it's a shame, because if it was just given a little boost, it would be amazing as the suggested flavour combinations are intriguing and so promising, and the staff is lovely. I also suspect this may be a result of disregard for the vegan options, treated more as accompaniments to the meat dishes rather than meals capable of holding their own. a little thing that annoyed me was that a starter is listed as bhel puri has no puri. so it's not bhel puri. but I do recognise it's a little thing. at £35 per head, with such a promising menu, I expected flavours to punch me about the face, instead I was just meekly waved at by a fleeting impression of cumin and cardamom. what we ordered : bhel puri, vegan yoghurt chaat, a vegan tiffin with daal, tea chickpeas, potatoes, vegan kheema, rotis rice, and coconut and mango sorbets. I hope I can come back and find improvements.

Wife suggested eating here, having eaten at Mowgli before. The food was superb. Fresh. Tasty. Succulent. Staff had a great sense of customer service and humour. We had the “full table” option with a great selection of dishes. A mock and cocktail each. Would definitely eat at Mowgli again.

Not my first visit to Mowgli, but my first visit to Mowgli Glasgow. As always, a warm welcome to a Mowgli restaurant, booking was easy and straight forward and our table was ready on arrival. Fast, friendly service. Delicious food. Beautiful decor. Make sure you download the Mowgli app to collect loyalty vouchers, to eventually earn a money off voucher. Would definitely return and recommend if you love Indian food!

I don’t recommend the place for authentic Indian cuisine. Lentils were half cooked and it had nearly no taste of Indian spices. It seemed as if I am eating boiled food. Ambience is okay. I paid £50 for 2 people but wasn’t satisfied even 10%. We opted for street food sharer deal.

Food was fabulous but the table wasn't big enough to accommodate and we were pushed to vacate table after 2 hours even though our desert wasn't delivered until 5 minutes before the end of the 2 hour slot. 2 hours isn't long enough.

First time yesterday and it won't be the last. Exceptional.

Great food, service and ambience. It was a lovely evening with what seemed like a modest amount of food. However at the end there was many things leftover. When requesting a takeaway container, I was informed they had none left. Resulting in a significant amount of food wastage. A disappointing way to end an otherwise lovely evening.

Thank you to everyone at Mowgli for a birthday meal I will be telling everyone about. There was 10 of us and we all had a superb meal. The staff were excellent and were happy to accommodate us not sticking to set menu. In fact none of us could find fault in anything. Thank you again. We will definitely be back

As first-time visitors, we opted for the Street Food Sharer, playing it safe while still indulging in a variety of flavors. And what a fantastic choice it turned out to be! The food was beautifully balanced—not overwhelmingly spicy, yet packed with just the right amount of heat and depth. I particularly appreciated how it delivered bold flavors without that all-too-familiar post-meal burn that can come with overly spiced dishes. One of the highlights was the tiffin-style serving and the desi ghee box—a nostalgic touch that instantly transported me back to childhood. It’s small details like these that make dining here more than just a meal; it’s an experience. And let’s talk about the ambiance—absolutely stunning! The space radiates warmth and vibrancy. But the real showstopper? The yogurt chaat bombs—crisp, creamy, and bursting with flavor. I could go on and on about them! Overall, an exceptional dining experience that masterfully blends tradition with modern finesse. A must-visit for any food lover!

We had a wonderful family evening in this restaurant celebrating birthdays- brother and sister ages 18 and 23. The booking office staff were extremely helpful (based in Manchester) confirming birthday information and ensuring it was relayed to the Glasgow restaurant in preparation for our visit. The restaurant itself was Instagram-ready; a totally beautiful environment in a historic building, enjoyed by the mixed aged group in the party . Taylor, the waitress assigned to our table , was attentive, engaging and ensured we were having a wonderful night, without appearing intrusive . She was knowledgeable about the food available and made sensible suggestions around quantities to order etc . The food was beautifully presented , fresh and fragrant . Vegetarian options were not tokenism, having plentiful choice and impressing the 1 vegetarian in our group . After the meal, the birthday cake was presented, and a second desert too, as a surprise for the birthday pair . So a top-notch evening , we will be back, and a special mention (again) to thank Taylor and all the staff for making a family celebration very special .

A re visit with friends, who were first timers..Food was good but a bit samey..limited choices from our first visit so menu hasn't changed. ... overall we did enjoy it at the venue is nice , atmosphere is good too...

It's a nice restaurant to be in but the portions are tiny. I appreciate it's small plates but you need a lot to get a good meal and it's not cheap.

I'm a die hard mowgli fan, and I went to this restaurant twice this week. Good food, good portions, good service, good atmosphere. As a celiac I have never been hurt by this restaurant and it's so nice to have places that you know you can relax with, and just enjoy good food. I have introduced folk to this chain many many times, with great success! Both times I went this week the waitresses were lovely, very attentive, very chatty and on the ball. I think I've eaten the entire gluten free menu by now and there's nothing I wouldn't recommend but when I die want to be buried in sticky tamarind sauce. That might be a bit dramatic but it's very tasty.

A most excellent eating place. Fantastic food. Reasonably priced. I especially love sitting on the swings and the square shiney metal plates.

We had a superb lunch at Mowgli yesterday. Mark was our server and he made some excellent recommendations for single and sharing dishes. I had the bunny chow and some chips chick were more like rosties (have a look at the pictures) The inside decor was lovely and it was quiet due to being a Monday lunchtime. I highly recommend a visit as it wasn’t expensive and it was delicious. There’s others around the country and one on Charlotte Street in London.

Great place to eat, different food , great staff. It was a bit noisy, so conversation was a bit difficult.

3 large dogs in our area of restaurant. We asked if we’d been given a table in the dog friendly area, to be told dogs are allowed anywhere in the restaurant. With hygiene and allergy concerns, let alone nuisance (dogs will, and did, bark when they see other dogs), none of our party will return here. I don’t recall the dog policy being highlighted sufficiently in the booking process. The food was tasty if a bit lukewarm.

Food wasn't exactly what I'd hoped for although healthy! maybe I'm used to the other Indian region style of food. Had to wait a long time for our dessert to order, to the point we decided to leave it out altogether! Overall mediocre experience..

Beautiful looking restaurant but the food was a total let down , ordered the sharing meal it was definitely reheats that were served cold , didn't get our dessert after waiting more than 30 min , definitely disappointed

Good food let down by the service. Took a while to be seated at all when we first arrived and we were then placed on the tables with swing seats (whose idea were these? Impossible to enjoy a meal when you're obstructed by the ropes and all you can think about is how much your back hurts). We were told we could move tables but miscommunication between staff meant this never happened. Also no check-in from staff throughout our meal. Left feeling a bit disappointed with overall experience.

Don’t go here in the winter. My friends and I were there yesterday and it was freezing. All the customers were wearing their coats. The food was nice but got cold very quickly due to the restaurant temperature. One staff members were making excuses about being a listed building and fire regulations which was nonsense. Shame because the restaurant was nice to look at but we won’t be back.

I'd heard good things about this place, but only just got around to visiting. Glad to say it lived up to the expectations I'd built up. Beautifully balanced flavours and perfectly cooked ingredients. The house lamb was so good. Delicious and tender

Great experience discovering a new way to enjoy Indian cuisine. Very friendly and helpful staff. Our table service was superb by Shaun/Sean who was very helpful advising on both quantity and flavours. Highly recommended.

Out of all the Mowgli’s I’ve been to, this has got to be the best. The did a fab menu around Xmas which was £25 each and you receive loads of dishes! All delicious! Only thing on the down side for me a little was we were seated on the swing chairs which were a bit uncomfortable for me, but others might prefer them. Apart from that, fab service!

Our Christmas works night out at Mowgli in Glasgow sadly fell far below expectations. The evening started with promise, but things quickly took a turn. The Gunpowder Chicken starter arrived after the main course—a frustrating mix-up. While it was packed with flavour, the timing dulled the experience; it would have been far more enjoyable as a proper starter. The main course, the much-anticipated Office Workers Tiffin, was the biggest letdown. Described as “4 tiers of meat, veg, and carb jeopardy chosen by the chef,” it arrived as only two tiers—one chicken dish and one lentil dish. This was a massive disappointment, especially for a group looking forward to the adventurous variety promised. For those expecting a hearty meat feast, it simply didn’t deliver. Dessert didn’t save the night either. The brownie, while paired with tasty vanilla ice cream, was disappointingly crunchy and lacked the indulgent warmth and gooey texture you’d hope for in a perfect brownie. Overall, while Mowgli has an enticing concept and flavorful dishes, the execution of the evening left much to be desired. Poor timing, unmet expectations, and lacklustre dessert have ensured that, unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

Had to wait for table despite booking. All food brought at same time so was getting cold by time we got towards end of it. Most disgusting coffee I have ever tasted. Really disappointed and won't be back.

Outstanding food. I had the Tamarind treacle chips, ginger chicken and roti. All fantastic. Highly recommended. In for lunch. Faultless. Fabulous unique food in a unique restaurant.

Food was terrible, tasteless and bland. Service was good and the waitress was very attentive and helpful, the restaurant was lovely inside, but the atmosphere wasn't great. Wouldn't rush back, the epitome of style over substance.

We were disappointed with the food - the spices were underdeveloped and the food was a poor approximation of South Asian street food, without the flavour kick, and certainly without the Indian generosity. I was particularly disappointed by the Chai Masala. I ordered one and received a tea bag and tepid water with a tiny sachet of sugar and a dribble of milk! THAT was not a cup of Chai Masala, as any South Asian person would tell you. And the Roti was not Roti, just some cheap pre bought flat bread, so disappointed! Your three stars are for the service and the staff who were all lovely and your decor is fab, what a pity you are serving sub par fast food masquerading as south Asian cuisine. Glasgow has long been home to some of the best Asian cuisine in the UK lovingly made by Scottish Asian families. Your food is nowhere near as good. Please do better. And hire a real Indian Mama to teach your chefs how to make Roti and Chai!

Great building, room was excellent and shower was the best I have had in a hotel.

Went to Mowgli with my husband and friend for the first time and was really disappointed with the food and service. Asked for all the food to be spicy and it was 10/10 bland with no flavour and I just think if I never asked for it to be spicy it would of tasted of absolute nothing. I've certainly had Indian food from takeaways that have had more flavour than the food I got. The decor was lovely but I think if your going to get drunk then any food will taste nice but if you want a really nice authentic Indian restaurant for the food then this is definitely not it. The service wasn't great either forgot two drinks order and because we didn't want to keep the service charge on the guys face was tripping him. Would definitely not be back.

Love pretty much everything .Food quality is very high, neatness and cleanest outstanding, and most of hospitality was excellent. Keep up the great work 👍 👏

Beautiful atmosphere horrible food

One of if not the best meal I have had in Glasgow. Excellent menu food for vegans and meat lovers alike. A really thoughtful menu with all the allergens on the back so no need to ask your server. Gorgous atmosphere where well thought out lighting and cool swing seats. An exciting drinks menu too. The low carbon footprint symbol on the menu is really thoughtful but I do question if some of the meat dishes can really be considered low carbon compared to the plant based ones. (But still really praise that this has been thought about and added to the menu.) The food was delicious and exciting and our group had no complaints. I hope to return for another meal there soon.

Good atmosphere - all twinkly - Indian tapas - I ordered Agra Ginger chicken - friends ordered Bunny Chow, which he recommended and other person ordered Veg - Paneer & Daal - everybody really enjoyed the food & staff were really friendly & helpful. So 5 stars - all round

A great experience and the food was first class.

We did not enjoy our visit at Mowgli. The food not only tasted bad but it was also poorly cooked. The potato veggie was very sour, we returned it almost full. The portion size was also not good enough and the taste of other food items was also not up to our expectations. Basically, it indeed looked and like street food but not in a good way.

Had our anniversary lunch today, service and food amazing

Got my order wrong several times, came back almost 40 minuets late to tell me they ran out of chicken! In the whole restaurant! the waiter apologised and then told me he had a lamb curry he could bring me, I agree and it comes stone cold. Would not recommend this place.

The food was very average. I ordered chat bombs, fries, Temple Dahl, rice and bread and most of the food tasted sweet. And it was expensive for two people's dinner. Service was ok but the ambience was nice.

The service was excellent. Staff were friendly, attentive and professional. We had the sharer menu and the food was lovely. The decor provided a great vibe, though the swing seats weren't for us 😂 I will definitely visit again and highly recommend to anyone.

Went here for a Saturday lunch, as expected was very busy which had a small impact on service. Staff all very nice, it was good to see different menu options from traditional Indian restaurants, enjoyed the tiffin boxes.

Drinks were good, but the food wasn't any different from other places I've eaten.

Food was fine but absolutely not worth £9.50 for a tiny portion of curry. This does not include rice but for the price you'd think so. We were sat in swinging chairs for dinner? Sure, it's something different, but who wants to sit there for an hour at least eating dinner? We asked to move. Go to Chakoo. Much nicer lol

We have been to the Edinburgh Mowgli so couldn't wait to be back and try the Glasgow one. We were lucky enough to get on the swing seats (first come firat served) which were really cool. The decor is beautiful and the food is incredible. Highly recommend the Bhel Puri and the monkey wrap. We will be back! Thanks again

The best way in life is to hold no expectations… but after visiting Mowgli in Edinburgh, I couldn’t help but naturally feel excited holding the same expectation for visiting Mowgli in Glasgow! 🐒 Recommended this place to my Sister for dining in Glasgow, and she was on board for visiting with me… it was her first time visiting Mowgli, and absolutely delighted it was just as exceptional as my visit to the Edinburgh restaurant. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted by a friendly member of staff. I admired the swings, and they asked if we would like to be seated there… I said yes as remember seeing these online and they looked ace! They were fun for 5 minutes 😂 then I had regrets after doing kettle bells earlier that day. Haha! The restaurants are so beautiful, the colours/decor/atmosphere created is absolutely magic. The food is out of this world… appreciating every bite for the awesome flavours. So happy to have repeated the same experience in another location. Highly recommend Mowgli in Edinburgh & Glasgow. Forever craving the treacle tamarind fries. Look forward to visiting again in the near future… such a treat, thank you 🐒🫶💜✨

The chickpea curry was great.. but everything else was ok. Quite a lot of waiting..

We visited tonight and are regulars wherever we go, as always the food was fabulous but, as always we over orderd to have a take out with the extra.... only to be told there were no take out boxes as we were told someone had forgotten to order them!!! The poor waitress was very apologetic and clearly embarrassed and fed up with the situation, we are extremely disappointed and were not happy to be wasting our food😔😔😔 would not recommend this restaurant to family and friends as a result.

I ate here with friends yesterday and we had the sharing menu which arrived pretty quickly after we ordered. Service staff were lovely and explained each dish we had ordered. I personally had never eaten here before but my friends had and I must say the food was fantastic, incredibly tasty and with beautiful flavours. I would highly recommend this restaurant and the whole experience.

100% incredible food, my friend and I had 7 small plates and although every single one was delicious my favourites were the Mowgli Sticky Chicken and the Picnic Potatoes. Absolute bargain too at less than £40 each with wine! I won't need to be eating for a couple of days now 🤣

We had one of the best Indian food experiences of our lives here (and we've had a LOT of Indian food). Prices were very reasonable considering how gorgeous the place was, and how absolutely delectable the food and drinks were. Staff were also extremely helpful and courteous, especially when helping you decide if you've maybeeeee over/underestimated how much you should order. We had the street food selection which came with a tonne of dishes. Highly recommended. Bring your family, mates or dates here for sure!

Went here last night. Table booked for 19:15 arrived just after 7pm. Stood waiting to be served for 5mins even though all staff seen us. Girl behind the bar looked us up and down then looked away. Eventually a staff member came over. With an attitude she told us to go away and come back for 19:15! Let’s just say the shocking ambience and service we did not go back. Walked across the road to penangs where we had great service and food. I do not recommend mowglis in Glasgow. Rude staff and a terrible atmosphere. Sad thing is it was booked as a special occasion!

Considering that I have many problems with food, because I have many allergies, the staff was able to find a suitable solution for me and my needs, to be able to enjoy and taste the food, obviously also thanks to the people who work in the kitchen who were attentive to everything, I recommend going there, both for the food and for the truly welcoming environment, on 2 floors, tables for two with swings as seats, really suitable for the name, I think there are also tables for 4 people with the same seats but on the upper floor, the bathrooms are one floor even higher, really beautiful.
