Mowgli Street Food in Glasgow City

Great place to eat, different food , great staff. It was a bit noisy, so conversation was a bit difficult.

3 large dogs in our area of restaurant. We asked if we’d been given a table in the dog friendly area, to be told dogs are allowed anywhere in the restaurant. With hygiene and allergy concerns, let alone nuisance (dogs will, and did, bark when they see other dogs), none of our party will return here. I don’t recall the dog policy being highlighted sufficiently in the booking process. The food was tasty if a bit lukewarm.

Food wasn't exactly what I'd hoped for although healthy! maybe I'm used to the other Indian region style of food. Had to wait a long time for our dessert to order, to the point we decided to leave it out altogether! Overall mediocre experience..

Beautiful looking restaurant but the food was a total let down , ordered the sharing meal it was definitely reheats that were served cold , didn't get our dessert after waiting more than 30 min , definitely disappointed

Good food let down by the service. Took a while to be seated at all when we first arrived and we were then placed on the tables with swing seats (whose idea were these? Impossible to enjoy a meal when you're obstructed by the ropes and all you can think about is how much your back hurts). We were told we could move tables but miscommunication between staff meant this never happened. Also no check-in from staff throughout our meal. Left feeling a bit disappointed with overall experience.

Don’t go here in the winter. My friends and I were there yesterday and it was freezing. All the customers were wearing their coats. The food was nice but got cold very quickly due to the restaurant temperature. One staff members were making excuses about being a listed building and fire regulations which was nonsense. Shame because the restaurant was nice to look at but we won’t be back.

I'd heard good things about this place, but only just got around to visiting. Glad to say it lived up to the expectations I'd built up. Beautifully balanced flavours and perfectly cooked ingredients. The house lamb was so good. Delicious and tender

Great experience discovering a new way to enjoy Indian cuisine. Very friendly and helpful staff. Our table service was superb by Shaun/Sean who was very helpful advising on both quantity and flavours. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed the food, the portion of food is like a small tiffin box however no compromise on quality of food, quick service, and staff is also good.

Out of all the Mowgli’s I’ve been to, this has got to be the best. The did a fab menu around Xmas which was £25 each and you receive loads of dishes! All delicious! Only thing on the down side for me a little was we were seated on the swing chairs which were a bit uncomfortable for me, but others might prefer them. Apart from that, fab service!

Our Christmas works night out at Mowgli in Glasgow sadly fell far below expectations. The evening started with promise, but things quickly took a turn. The Gunpowder Chicken starter arrived after the main course—a frustrating mix-up. While it was packed with flavour, the timing dulled the experience; it would have been far more enjoyable as a proper starter. The main course, the much-anticipated Office Workers Tiffin, was the biggest letdown. Described as “4 tiers of meat, veg, and carb jeopardy chosen by the chef,” it arrived as only two tiers—one chicken dish and one lentil dish. This was a massive disappointment, especially for a group looking forward to the adventurous variety promised. For those expecting a hearty meat feast, it simply didn’t deliver. Dessert didn’t save the night either. The brownie, while paired with tasty vanilla ice cream, was disappointingly crunchy and lacked the indulgent warmth and gooey texture you’d hope for in a perfect brownie. Overall, while Mowgli has an enticing concept and flavorful dishes, the execution of the evening left much to be desired. Poor timing, unmet expectations, and lacklustre dessert have ensured that, unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

Had to wait for table despite booking. All food brought at same time so was getting cold by time we got towards end of it. Most disgusting coffee I have ever tasted. Really disappointed and won't be back.

Outstanding food. I had the Tamarind treacle chips, ginger chicken and roti. All fantastic. Highly recommended. In for lunch. Faultless. Fabulous unique food in a unique restaurant.

Food was terrible, tasteless and bland. Service was good and the waitress was very attentive and helpful, the restaurant was lovely inside, but the atmosphere wasn't great. Wouldn't rush back, the epitome of style over substance.

Great tasting food could be a bit hotter heat wise but was excellent staff very friendly and knowledgeable

We were disappointed with the food - the spices were underdeveloped and the food was a poor approximation of South Asian street food, without the flavour kick, and certainly without the Indian generosity. I was particularly disappointed by the Chai Masala. I ordered one and received a tea bag and tepid water with a tiny sachet of sugar and a dribble of milk! THAT was not a cup of Chai Masala, as any South Asian person would tell you. And the Roti was not Roti, just some cheap pre bought flat bread, so disappointed! Your three stars are for the service and the staff who were all lovely and your decor is fab, what a pity you are serving sub par fast food masquerading as south Asian cuisine. Glasgow has long been home to some of the best Asian cuisine in the UK lovingly made by Scottish Asian families. Your food is nowhere near as good. Please do better. And hire a real Indian Mama to teach your chefs how to make Roti and Chai!

Great building, room was excellent and shower was the best I have had in a hotel.

Went to Mowgli with my husband and friend for the first time and was really disappointed with the food and service. Asked for all the food to be spicy and it was 10/10 bland with no flavour and I just think if I never asked for it to be spicy it would of tasted of absolute nothing. I've certainly had Indian food from takeaways that have had more flavour than the food I got. The decor was lovely but I think if your going to get drunk then any food will taste nice but if you want a really nice authentic Indian restaurant for the food then this is definitely not it. The service wasn't great either forgot two drinks order and because we didn't want to keep the service charge on the guys face was tripping him. Would definitely not be back.

Love pretty much everything .Food quality is very high, neatness and cleanest outstanding, and most of hospitality was excellent. Keep up the great work 👍 👏

Beautiful atmosphere horrible food

One of if not the best meal I have had in Glasgow. Excellent menu food for vegans and meat lovers alike. A really thoughtful menu with all the allergens on the back so no need to ask your server. Gorgous atmosphere where well thought out lighting and cool swing seats. An exciting drinks menu too. The low carbon footprint symbol on the menu is really thoughtful but I do question if some of the meat dishes can really be considered low carbon compared to the plant based ones. (But still really praise that this has been thought about and added to the menu.) The food was delicious and exciting and our group had no complaints. I hope to return for another meal there soon.

Good atmosphere - all twinkly - Indian tapas - I ordered Agra Ginger chicken - friends ordered Bunny Chow, which he recommended and other person ordered Veg - Paneer & Daal - everybody really enjoyed the food & staff were really friendly & helpful. So 5 stars - all round

Had our anniversary lunch today, service and food amazing

We did not enjoy our visit at Mowgli. The food not only tasted bad but it was also poorly cooked. The potato veggie was very sour, we returned it almost full. The portion size was also not good enough and the taste of other food items was also not up to our expectations. Basically, it indeed looked and like street food but not in a good way.

Got my order wrong several times, came back almost 40 minuets late to tell me they ran out of chicken! In the whole restaurant! the waiter apologised and then told me he had a lamb curry he could bring me, I agree and it comes stone cold. Would not recommend this place.

The food was very average. I ordered chat bombs, fries, Temple Dahl, rice and bread and most of the food tasted sweet. And it was expensive for two people's dinner. Service was ok but the ambience was nice.

The service was excellent. Staff were friendly, attentive and professional. We had the sharer menu and the food was lovely. The decor provided a great vibe, though the swing seats weren't for us 😂 I will definitely visit again and highly recommend to anyone.

Went here for a Saturday lunch, as expected was very busy which had a small impact on service. Staff all very nice, it was good to see different menu options from traditional Indian restaurants, enjoyed the tiffin boxes.

Drinks were good, but the food wasn't any different from other places I've eaten.

Food was fine but absolutely not worth £9.50 for a tiny portion of curry. This does not include rice but for the price you'd think so. We were sat in swinging chairs for dinner? Sure, it's something different, but who wants to sit there for an hour at least eating dinner? We asked to move. Go to Chakoo. Much nicer lol

We have been to the Edinburgh Mowgli so couldn't wait to be back and try the Glasgow one. We were lucky enough to get on the swing seats (first come firat served) which were really cool. The decor is beautiful and the food is incredible. Highly recommend the Bhel Puri and the monkey wrap. We will be back! Thanks again

The best way in life is to hold no expectations… but after visiting Mowgli in Edinburgh, I couldn’t help but naturally feel excited holding the same expectation for visiting Mowgli in Glasgow! 🐒 Recommended this place to my Sister for dining in Glasgow, and she was on board for visiting with me… it was her first time visiting Mowgli, and absolutely delighted it was just as exceptional as my visit to the Edinburgh restaurant. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted by a friendly member of staff. I admired the swings, and they asked if we would like to be seated there… I said yes as remember seeing these online and they looked ace! They were fun for 5 minutes 😂 then I had regrets after doing kettle bells earlier that day. Haha! The restaurants are so beautiful, the colours/decor/atmosphere created is absolutely magic. The food is out of this world… appreciating every bite for the awesome flavours. So happy to have repeated the same experience in another location. Highly recommend Mowgli in Edinburgh & Glasgow. Forever craving the treacle tamarind fries. Look forward to visiting again in the near future… such a treat, thank you 🐒🫶💜✨

First time here and will certainly let be back. Chat bombs, puri and and house lamb were a gorgeous assault on the taste buds.. Yum!

The chickpea curry was great.. but everything else was ok. Quite a lot of waiting..

We visited tonight and are regulars wherever we go, as always the food was fabulous but, as always we over orderd to have a take out with the extra.... only to be told there were no take out boxes as we were told someone had forgotten to order them!!! The poor waitress was very apologetic and clearly embarrassed and fed up with the situation, we are extremely disappointed and were not happy to be wasting our food😔😔😔 would not recommend this restaurant to family and friends as a result.

I ate here with friends yesterday and we had the sharing menu which arrived pretty quickly after we ordered. Service staff were lovely and explained each dish we had ordered. I personally had never eaten here before but my friends had and I must say the food was fantastic, incredibly tasty and with beautiful flavours. I would highly recommend this restaurant and the whole experience.

100% incredible food, my friend and I had 7 small plates and although every single one was delicious my favourites were the Mowgli Sticky Chicken and the Picnic Potatoes. Absolute bargain too at less than £40 each with wine! I won't need to be eating for a couple of days now 🤣

We had one of the best Indian food experiences of our lives here (and we've had a LOT of Indian food). Prices were very reasonable considering how gorgeous the place was, and how absolutely delectable the food and drinks were. Staff were also extremely helpful and courteous, especially when helping you decide if you've maybeeeee over/underestimated how much you should order. We had the street food selection which came with a tonne of dishes. Highly recommended. Bring your family, mates or dates here for sure!

Went here last night. Table booked for 19:15 arrived just after 7pm. Stood waiting to be served for 5mins even though all staff seen us. Girl behind the bar looked us up and down then looked away. Eventually a staff member came over. With an attitude she told us to go away and come back for 19:15! Let’s just say the shocking ambience and service we did not go back. Walked across the road to penangs where we had great service and food. I do not recommend mowglis in Glasgow. Rude staff and a terrible atmosphere. Sad thing is it was booked as a special occasion!

Considering that I have many problems with food, because I have many allergies, the staff was able to find a suitable solution for me and my needs, to be able to enjoy and taste the food, obviously also thanks to the people who work in the kitchen who were attentive to everything, I recommend going there, both for the food and for the truly welcoming environment, on 2 floors, tables for two with swings as seats, really suitable for the name, I think there are also tables for 4 people with the same seats but on the upper floor, the bathrooms are one floor even higher, really beautiful. Very impressed by Mowgli - I hope you open one in Newcastle! The food is amazing and they accommodate for allergens, which is more than ideal. They even do a bunny chow, which is a rare find in the UK - fantastic!

Went to try it out, staff were attentive, but as it got a little busier then service dropped significantly, table at the end of the main meal needed a wide down, which we did ourselves. Food was good, but our food could have been warmer, as it was luke warm half way through. Small plates approach generally, which does give you a chance to try a few things. Pricey for what it is, but had to give it a try.

Great place with small plates to share. Excellent. Will be back without the car next time 😉

Not busy on a Thursday afternoon, very efficient service, staff polite and friendly and never seemed to stop doing whatever needed doing. Workers Tiffin appeared within minutes, a substantial and satisfying lunch for £20. Beautiful, light on interior, well layer out with nooks for two and larger tables for groups. Top class.

We had a cracking meal here. We hadn't been before and the waitress explained that it is small plates and 2 to 3 plates each was the suggested order. One of our party was gluten free and the waitress handed us a seperate gluten free menu with plenty of options. The decor was nice and the seats were comfortable. The place was very busy so booking in advance is recommended. The food was lovely. I had Mowgli chicken which was mild with depth of flavour. The rice and puri were perfectly cooked. My daughters dishes were very tasty too. Highly recommend.

Poor service. Food was very below average and I’ve had better microwave food. Wine and food was literally thrown on the table by the inattentive waitress. Waste of money and time. Anywhere can put fairly lights up and that’s all this place has going for it

The prices are very expensive, the food is less than normal, and the quantities are very small and are samples for tasting. Restaurant by reservation. There are two tables at the entrance to the restaurant, in front of the door, and we sat at them. The psychology of the staff in the restaurant is bad, as if they have usurped you. An experience that will never be repeated.

Lovely quirky restaurant and loved the swing seats! Food was very tasty, generous portions and lots of options. Negatives were the overuse of Tamarind which dominated a few dishes and the general lack of spice which was needed. Drinks were pretty outrageous with a bottle of beer retailing at £1 in the supermarket being sold for £5.50. .. bear in mind that there are tips on all of this! My thoughts were a great restaurant with some unique dishes, but a little over powering and over priced drinks would make me reconsider going back

Dreadful, boring, bland food. Who cares if it's a family recipe if it tastes terrible. Go to Taste of Chennai on Sauchiehall Street, the food there is authentic and mind-blowing.

Incredibly slow service. Food really not worth the hype. Don't mind small portions but flavours were below average and bread certainly not fresh. Staff friendly but not enough of them.

Booking made for 3 people No draught beer was available. Ordered from menu then 3 minutes later was informed there was no lamb available. I asked for the bill and we left . Disappointing service avoid .

Loved this meal out, food was truly excellent and with really great flavours. Ideal size sharing dishes. Atmosphere really good if a little loud due to high ceilings and service tram never missed a beat...super!

Great overall but a few things need attention. Been looking forward to this for ages and have tried to book or chance it for a year. Booked this time 3 weeks in advance. Great choice of food. A little expensive but I was happy to pay. Great to try different things. One thing wasn't quite right, service. Took a while to take and get our drink order for 4 people. All food came out at same time which they said might not happen so not much space on table. But major point was it took ages to clear the tables. The staff were more intent on cleaning tables for incoming guests and not looking at what was needing done. I tried to catch their attention but they didn't look over.

Love the deco fab the place is stunning 😍 and huge 😍 food was great loads of choice and very very tasty 😋 and the cocktails yum 😋 definitely recommend for couples , family's or friends whatever go and try you won't be disappointed 😋 😀

Really average. Food was pretty samey tasting with the chickpea dish and the dhal. Lamb chops at £12 for two small chops wasn’t great. Not a bad meal but very average. Stick to Mother India Cafe for Indian tapas

Loved the restaurant! It was a novelty to be sat on yhe seing seats but we felt more suited to younger people than us! Food was great and staff terrific!

The food was way below average and no way any nearer to the authentic Indian street food what they claim... We really went excitedly because one of my aunt's visiting followed the owner on TV and was really inspired by her but the restaurant itself was a real sad experience.

Lovely surroundings in the restaurant and interesting menu. High points for me were the bhel puri and sticky chicken, others in our party enjoyed the house lamb curry and gunpowder chicken. Food overall was quite lukewarm on arrival. If I were to return I'd opt for more signature street food dishes. Really enjoyed the cocktails and overall it was a positive experience.
