We used to visit the restraunt before mother indias cafe opened and we decided we enjoyed the tapas there. Which are amazing. We returned here after receiving a voucher. I cant state how much we enjoyed it. The food is amazing. We had the smoked haddock starter with poppodoms and dips. The chicken tikka which comes with rice and curry sauce. The lamb dehli was melt in the mouth with the potatoes and veg side. Had a naan bread which was hot and fluffy. We love our indian food and have been to loads of restraunts. This is by far the best we have ever had. Its proper indian food which is spiced and flavoured perfectly. The food is piping hot. The service is great also. A little bit pricey but definately worth it for the quality and experience. We will definately be returning.

Having read most of the recent reviews, I can not agree at all with the ones stated as average or below. The first thing to say is that it gets very busy, so booking seems essential. It was packed when we visited, and that was mid week. I cannot see it being disabled friendly in any way! It is a climb up a narrow, poorly lit staircase to a dining room where access between tables is limited. It is beautifully decorated and appeared clean and well looked after. The staff, while not being outstanding , were polite, attentive, well presented and friendly. The service was a little slow, but being a party of 12 along with a packed dining room, I would expect this. While as others have said the menu is limited for an Indian restaurant, the food was very good indeed. It was hot, nicely spiced, well presented and tasty. The portions were more than adequate, in fact we asked for some not we had not eaten to be taken out. There is an extensive wine and drinks list. I have had better a couple of times, but have had far far worse. Not bad value for money, coming in at around £350 for a party of 12, having starters, mains, sides and drinks. Overall a great visit to a really nice restaurant. We would quite happily go back.

Booked Table Tuesday night for me and my wife, looking forward to a good Indian. Arrived early given my table and quickly starters arrived at our table , lovely. We then waited 45 minutes before the server noticed we still had no main. 55 minutes waiting for our main, I called time and paid my starters. Then I was asked to wait and meet the manager again 10 mins no appearance so I left. Horrible experience. Service shocking

Very disappointing, this used to be my favourite restaurant, I ordered the spicy keema dosa which was soggy and definitely not spicy basically tasteless. Then ordered a lamb karahi which was very disappointing, the sauce was bland an the lamb was tough. When I gave feedback to the waitress she apologised and agreed and also told us that other customers had also complained about the lamb. So obviously either management didn't get the feedback or they don't about customer complaints. As I said, this used to be my favourite restaurant but after that meal I won't be rushing back.

This was a very disappointing evening. Despite booking in advance, there was a long wait to get a table and we were then seated at a table which had been squashed in very near the toilets. It was almost as though we had been put there out of the way as we sat unnoticed while tables around us were served. The food, when it arrived, seemed to be of poor quality, but it may just have seemed that way due to the horrible feeling of being made to feel insignificant. Great restaurants have great food , great ambience and, most of all, a great welcome. Given Mother India’s reputation over many decades, I was really sad to find none of those on our visit.

Heard a lot about this restaurant but it doesn't live up to the hype. It's split across three floors and it's got very dark decor, so dark the waiter had to use the flashlight on his phone so we could read the menu. There seem to be a lot of staff but wasn't clear what all of them were doing. Compared to other restaurants of this type the food was expensive and not particularly well prepared. Waiting staff were really great upstairs and the food was delicious but no one told us on booking that we'd need to give the table back after 2 hours, or that the restaurant would be cold. At the the 2 hour mark, as we had already ordered deserts, which hadn't yet arrived, we agreed to an offer to move down to ground floor, which was equally cold - that is until the door was repeatedly left open by customers and staff - then it was much much colder. For context, it was literally freezing 0°C outside at the time. When the bill arrived, no one asked how everything was, we had spent £40+ per head. Given our party had to move during our dinner, I thought perhaps even a couple of coffees, might have been covered by the house... A service charge was applied without being pointed out - not on imo and I was presented with payment options on the card machine with automatic tipping choices offered. There was also a no tip option. Which I was fine with given the ~£25 service charge. Must have been here 15 -20 times over the years. First time it's made me think maybe not in future - and if I simply must have their butter chicken perhaps it's only take out from here on in. Please fix the drafts at the windows and doors. No matter how good the food is, and it is really good, a restaurant is there for a dining experience. Used to be much much better. Poor show folks.

I hadn't been to mother India in about 15 years or longer I'd say and we were really looking forward to it. I must admit the food was delicious and I've given 5 stars for the food part but overall the service was exceptionally dire which took away a lot from the overall experience. One of the main people, we assume to be the manager perhaps, or a supervisor was a bit grumpy, not sure why. His general demeanour was a bit short. We had to order drink three times before someone finally got them. There was a half hour wait after our mains and then someone just came and gave us the bill. This was still about 6.30pm. So there wasn't a rush to be closing. We asked if we were ok to have dessert and sure enough they apologised and got the menu. But that was very rushed and uncomfortable. The food itself was amazing. I got the lamb ran which was stunning, the chicken tikka and other dishes were sensational and the quantities were brilliant. The naans and paratha were also very very tasty. Also the starter I had was a potato cake which was superb with all the sauces. All in all the food was great, service not so much.

At last I don’t mind pay 4 sets lunch meal but I asked the staff give us back one set lunch it’s over charged, the staff said NO.(We ate 3 sets lunch but we have to paid 4 sets lunch money) what is the charged £20pp per person? It is to force every one to have their set meal in restaurant ? Not to sharing the mean? What great authority? If you POSTED in the entrance of your Restaurant “Guest dine in can’t share the meal” we wouldn’t dine in ! We insisted get back one set lunch, because we already paid the bill. The end the staff refund the money back to my card.

We had to come here after seeing the place on Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown. The food was delicious and the service excellent. The poppadoms and dip are delicious as is the the lamb curry. Enjoy!

We were staying on the right side of Glasgow and managed to get a booking so very happy to get a table. We came here on recommendation so we're looking forward to what it had to offer. We were shown to a table downstairs, it's quite a small area with dark wood panelling and beautiful windows The menu is different to your average Indian restaurant so be prepared to try something a little different to the norm We had the curry, pilau rice and a chicken Tikka, poppadoms to start and a Peshwari naan. The food was really good, so tasty and excellent portion size.... The naan bread was like a pillow, soft, squishy and absolutely gorgeous... I was so full but couldn't stop eating it!! I realised they had an upstairs so popped up to take a look.... A completely different feel up there... Buzzing, loud, busy a contrast to downstairs The building itself is beautiful as well.... Staff very attentive and loved chatting to the owner who is clearly passionate about what he does... We had the best night x

Ein Spitzen-Inder zu akzeptablen Preisen. Unbedingt hingehen - schon um zu erleben, wie groß der Unterschied zu den 08/15 Restaurants in Deutschland ist.

Great food and service - We asked for recommendations on what to eat and they helped us pair awesome whiskies with our dinner. Naman did not steer us wrong! The dosa, tikka and naan were all delicious. Definitely would go back.

Top notch food and service. Servings were huge, doggie bags mean breakfast at home will be good too. It was difficult to chat though, because of the noise in the room. An acoustic issue I expect.

Dobre miejsce na elegancki oboad lub kolację. Bardzo smaczne jedzenie, porcje tak duże, że nie daliśmy rady przejeść. Mają też duży wybór ginów.

We bought a voucher for 2 courses for 2 on the Indian menu through itison. This included the BYO corkage charge. It was a very good deal and the food was good. I am surprised at some of the reviews on
