Anniesland Mansions Cafe in Glasgow City

We bought a voucher for 2 courses for 2 on the Indian menu through itison. This included the BYO corkage charge. It was a very good deal and the food was good. I am surprised at some of the reviews on here that criticise the food, its a shame, as we were a bit hesitant about what to expect. The starters and spicy onions (home made) with the poppadoms were especially good. We shared a cake afterwards which was huge, more than enough to share, and only cost £3.95. It was nice to be able to bring our own wine, obviously it made it cheaper too, which is always a bonus, and we got to choose a wine we knew liked. We would recommend this place. Staff were nice too.

We pass this place all the time and found it was time to try it out. We stepped into an empty restaurant when it should be busy at that time of night for food and drinks. Red flag right away, we both looked at each other and decided to try it anyway, we ordered the Veg pakora as a starter it was a large portion and was fresh but there was no taste at all with the pakora luckily the sauce saved the day. My side kick ordered the burger while I ordered the chicken Tikka, my first impression was that looks good and I’ll look past the dirty cutlery and try the curry. Curry had no flavour or seasoning never mind any spice the Weatherspoons up the road has a spicer curry to be honest. The side kick had a burger and that was just as bad with no flavour. The girl that served us was lovely but obviously had no training but that’s not her fault. Save your hard earned money and go elsewhere.

Read the reviews, they were not very good. A little hesitant to go. But, The Food Was Great. Indian starters all fabulous, Indian mains and sides. All great. Very tasty, good portion size. Fish n chips, plenty and delicious. BYOB, Great, Didn’t have to wait to long for each course, And the cakes to buy on the wsy out. 👍 I think we will definitely be back.

Terrible experience.Couldn't get parked to start with,took nearly half an hour.Fish and chips small portion,cold and soggy.Was given the salt with none in it and they had no vinegar.Burgers cheap and nasty.Service shocking!👎😬

Amazingly our family’s first visit, given that we’ve been living in Anniesland for over ten months now. As Breakfast’s go it was pretty average, based on a number of factors. I opted for the Full Breakfast - fairly satisfied to be honest. A good amount of Toast, Bacon cooked well and runny Eggs. However, a big part of any Breakfast (for me anyway) is the quality of the Link Sausages - these were poor (tiny and just tasted funny). The Coffee somewhat made up for this - one of the better ones I’ve had in a café. My wife chose the Egg’s Benedict, which she said was great. My son had the Scrambled Eggs on Toast - it looked good but he’s three, so I can’t comment too much on his verdict. Would normally give a 4/5 based on the above however, we waited around 40 minutes from the point we ordered. The café had guests at just two other tables. Our son got grouchy because he was hungry. For me, just not good enough and we were all but five minutes from walking out. The food on reflection was actually decent, minus those Sausages of course, but the turnaround time had a massive negative impact.

Visited last Saturday with family group. High chair provided for the baby with us and great food and service all round! We all ate from the Indian menu - lots of pakora, popadoms, aubergine fritters and haddock to start. I had the butter chicken for mains, other dishes chosen were vegetable chasni, lamb karahi, ginger and lime fish, chicken tikka and king prawn arachi. All very fresh and delicious. We almost managed to finish everything - but not quite! The remnants were packaged up for us to take home. BYOB is great - ice buckets provided for white wine. All round great dining experience - will visit again!

This was a very bad experience, first I get served chicken instead of prawns, then I receive a dish very spicy with no Spinach in it. I ordered Prawns with Spinach, Garlic and Ginger, My husbands spaghetti were too salty, it's a shame as we used to love it here.

Stopped here for lunch as our preferred lunch place was closed... Wish we hadn't... 2 guys standing outside smoking/vaping or whatever, turned out they were the chefs/cooks, what ever they want to call themselves... There is a varied, very strange menu, British, Scottish, Indian & Part italian? i opted for the chicken kebab & my nephew ordered BBQ Chicken pizza.. we had poppadoms & spice onions for starters, the onions, i must admit were ok, the poppadoms were soaked in oil, which incidently you could smell in the place, ( can still smell it now on my clothes as i write this review) .. The BBQ Pizza, OMG, it was like, toasted cheese ,except on pizza bread with a few pieces of chicken, who uses cheddar cheese to make a BBQ Pizza, very bizarre! my chicken kebab arrived on a brick hard pitta bread, few pieces of chicken, which were solid, came with chips, which clearly wernt cooked properly & a small side dish of some sort of spicy sauce! whilst sitting in there we noticed a take-away across the road " LUNCH"| WISH TO HELL WE HAD SEEN THAT 1ST... We certainly wont be back to anniesland Mansions thats for sure! ohh and the table beside us, 1 diner had her meal forgotten about altogether, altho she had already reminded them... Just a total weird dining experience.... AND NOW 3 HOURS AFTER WARDS I HAVE THE MOST HORRNDOUS UPSET TUMMY & BEEN SICK TWICE!!!!!

Lovely lunch. Service was very good. I have been here many times and always very nice. Went for a friend's birthday a few weeks and the staff could not have been more helpful. Food was lovely Price was very good also.

Absolutely fantastic selection of quality dishes at very reasonable prices. The spiced haddock wassublime. Choice of dessert combinations limitless. Excellent, friendly service. Only wish I lived closer.

Worst food I've ever eaten. It was tasteless. Staff had no idea what they were serving. Had to keep going to ask. Manager was very arrogant when questioned about the food. Said they don't use much salt. It's all well being aware of salt intake but when the food is tasteless due to it. I don't even think the food had much spice either. You'd never know it was supposed to be Indian food. The naan wasn't cooked properly. Far too doughy and the wrong texture. Never again.

Myself and three friends went for a birthday celebration to the tapas night on 30/09/22. The staff are brilliant, food was delicious and live music was great. I would highly recommend and will definitely be back, great night all round
