We had the BEST visit ever with our fantastic guide Lindsay. Accompanying a group of French air traffic controllers on a language course, the Spinnaker Tower visit was a highlight of our stay in the UK. Lindsay was the most dynamic and enthusiastic guide I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. She’s a natural, and made us feel like VIPs. If you’re planning a guided tour, INSIST on having Lindsay!

I visited solo on an afternoon. The two gals looking after the place were unfriendly and unhelpful. I left without making a purchase and would not recommend this place.

Thought the whole Spinnaker Tower experience felt a bit tired & shabby, thank goodness the views are good. Had a Virgin Experience voucher (rubbish & would never buy again - but that’s another story) so booked High Tea. Not impressed with how it was organised - had to wait for everyone to assemble on the viewing deck then had to wait for the lift then had to wait to be seated. Presented with our high tea which looked okay. Sandwiches were very mediocre with very unimaginative fillings. If you don’t like mustard on your ham or don’t like cream cheese you’ve had it. The scones were okay. The cake selection was slightly more interesting with some decent macarons and little pastry cups with nice fillings. Cup of tea was nothing to get excited about just two breakfast teabags in a pot. It would have been nice to have had a choice of teas although they did have fruit teas if that’s your thing. The staff were pleasant but it looked like they were struggling to cope. To cap it all the guy in charge of the lift down was not on the ball and we all had a long wait to get back down. All in all the whole thing was a very average experience.

The view may have been a little cloudy but afternoon tea was absolutely delicious. I had vegetarian finger sandwiches and huge scone with clotted cream and jam and at least 6 little delicacies, with unlimited tea/coffee or in my case a little bottle of prosecco. We were looked after so well by a lovely gentleman and a young girl, we even got a box to take what we couldn't eat, and by the time we finished the clouds had lifted and the view was amazing. What a fabulous afternoon well worth the money.

Maybe my expectations were too high as I had been celebrating my 50th birthday all week and this was the last treat. However considering the price of high tea I was expecting more of a special moment. The staff seemed very laxy daisy, they were never rude but just seemed more interested in talking to themselves rather than seeing if we needed anything. My cousin had to go to the counter twice to ask for more tea, extra milk and extra cutlery. The teapot was just refilled with water and not new teabags. The toilets had the most horrendous smell coming from them. The leaflet on the table about the jubilee tea was all sticky. I actually had a hair in my scone but did not want to say anything and upset the day as I had not seen my relatives for 7 months. We enjoyed the views but this would not be something I would recommend. They really need to improve on their customer service as people are coming here to celebrate special occasions and this should be reflected on the service. Very dissapointed.

We booked for tea for both of us. The ticket price of £35 each including the tower part. The tea arrived and the sandwiches were ok, the scone I had I could not twist open neither could I cut open with a knife, it was so hard and stale. More scones had to be asked for. The cream in pots had their lids removed and stacked on top of each other. Why we have no idea, not very hygienic. The cakes ok. The tea pot was half full or if you like half empty, why when we had to tie up staff asking for a fresh pot. We were given a booklet for the tower. We then waited with a party of 6 people in a group in a very small area for the lift for about 15 minutes tho staff had rung several times for the lift. All un masked, lor We took photos from the tower, be warned most will come out with a blue tinge. I walked up 60 steps to view the top viewing floor and see the garden. Oh my just dead plants, are staff really expected to lug up water up 60 steps so hardly surprising. Take the lot out and create a few seats. One can ask for a chair apparently which is really off putting as none are on view. There was a display film at the bottom with seats set against it, backs to the film, only can be viewed sitting down twisting ones back

I suppose you come here for the view. However the tables by the windows tend to be reserved for those who have booked the afternoon tea experience. We just had the ordinary tables, we ordered the cream tea/coffee. It comes with a scone and clotted cream. It is a bit expensive for what you get, I liked my coffee.

Booked a 60th Birthday Afternoon Tea. 10:00 a.m on the morning of the visit, received a phone call. Lifts out of action. Maintenance work had overrun, so we could not have Afternoon Tea in 'Clouds'. This call could have, and should have been made before the close of play the day before. We were offered a refund or a re-schedule (but this would have meant my partner had taken the half day off work for nothing). We asked if there was an alternative on the day. We were then told we could have Afternoon Tea, but in the basic, ground floor cafe. We had paid £60 for the experience of sitting in the Clouds Cafe, with entrance to the Tower included, so we asked what reduction would be offered, were we to accept this suggestion. We were told that NO reduction would be given, 'because you'll still have had the Afternoon Tea'. Totally unfair. The ground floor cafe is 'ordinary'; there are no views like the ones from Clouds Cafe; being school hoilday time, it would have been packed with families - very noisy. Hardly the special experience we had paid for. The official then informed us that we could still have entrance to the Tower ... provided that we were happy to accept that 'today is a stair day' and that we climbed the Tower using the stairs. I have severe osteoarthritis in both knees, so we declined this 'offer' and asked for our money back. Everyone accepts that hitches happen now and again. What ISN'T acceptable is to then offer an inferior experience for the same price. Very poor.

Visited for afternoon tea. All of the food and drink was good. I’d prefer to choose between a fruit or plain scone - fruit was provided. It was a warm day and so it was very hot but the waiting staff struggled to find glasses and jugs to be able to provide water for the table. Great view with some lovely food - worth a visit.

Sometimes, being a solo traveller means that a place can squeeze you win even if it’s booked up. Coming to Clouds Cafe wasn’t part of my plan of going to the Spinnaker Tower but I’m so glad I stumbled across it. The views from the café overlooking Portsmouth are incredible, especially on such a beautiful day. I ordered a chicken, mozzarella and pesto roll with a Diet Coke. There was quite a delay in the roll coming, not that I minded too much because of the views. However, I was really pleasantly surprised when I was given a complimentary bag of crisps because of the delay which I thought was a really nice touch. The staff were extremely friendly and appeared to be very enthusiastic about the job. Definitely taking my husband for afternoon tea there

We received the afternoon tea experience as a gift and on arrival we were able to pick which of the reserved tables we sat at - all of those by the window had been reserved for afternoon tea guests which we thought was great. I’m not normally one for wearing sunglasses inside but do bring some because if you’re lucky enough to get a sunny day you’ll really want them and the view really is lovely! The staff were very pleasant however we advised at the point of booking that neither of us ate any kind of fish/sea food. Unfortunately we were still served smoked salmon sandwiches which seemed to take rather a long time to replace and we were just sat looking at the food not wanting to start until it was complete. Unfortunately the sandwiches were very plain – literally just one ingredient, a “just cheese” sandwich, and a “just ham” – then an egg mayo. Some cucumber/tomato/pickle etc. would have helped. However the bread was so dry we didn’t eat the sandwiches anyway. The second tier was probably okay for most but just not to our liking – macrons, Battenberg, tiny Victoria Sponge (these were lovely) and then four cheapie chocolates. The main event though was absolutely the scones! These were incredible – huge and soft and we were able to request extra cream and jam at no extra cost. It was also possible to order a mocha instead of tea, and a green tea instead of standard tea so they were reasonably flexible; but overall I wouldn’t waste money on the first two tiers.

Pub real, gente estupenda, gran personal, mucha diversión. Reglas simples durante Covid, firmar en la puerta con el número de la mafia, lavarse las manos, ordenar, sentarse, ¡la cerveza llega en segundos! Incluso fuera de un gran pub.

Visited this pub and stayed about 2 years ago, lovely rooms, great pub, cosy & inviting, great atmosphere and food. Visited pub this Easter weekend, well I was shocked! I assume changed hands as now run down and empty considering 8.30pm on Saturday evening. Not sure what it's meant to be but certainly didn't feel like a pub, more like a cross between a village hall and an Indian restaurant when you look at furniture. Place full of tables set for diners with mismatch metal chairs garden furniture and high back chairs from a restaurant, no comfortable sitting at all. Felt awkward sitting there for the 1 drink we had and they were already clearing bar to close for the night. Cold and clinical lighting and I won't mention the toilets! Disappointed visit and sad that the pub has lost its charm. Won't be visiting again plenty of other lovely pubs just a few 100 yards away.
