The First Time for us visiting Cafe Hope , The Staff were pleasant and polite , the Cumberland sausage pinwheel in a brioche was lovely along with the hot chocolate , the bacon in brioche was lovely too with the pot of tea and with stunning views of the mountains

Not great at all. Toasties are advertised on the menu and on the door yet when you ask for one you can’t actually have one. So I had a jacket potato. £10 for a jacket potato! Have we lost leave of our senses in this country?!?! And the ‘salad’ it comes with was nothing more than some lettuce leaves with some dressing! For a tenner I’d have expected much, much better. Paid a fiver for a kids sandwich and chips and they only get one half a sandwich! The fabric seats are grubby and the others and tables still left with crumbs. Next time we visit Keswick, we won’t be back. I feel ripped off!

The tray bakes looked delicious but unfortunately staff were not able to tell me whether any of them were dairy free so I could not purchase one. This is very disappointing as obviously making and serving food, they should be able to clearly state the allergens in each of their food (milk being one of the most common allergens). This is a statutory requirement. Would advise anyone with allergies to avoid.

Very poor experience would not recommend. We went yesterday called in because it was raining. Had to wait ages for our order. Was overpriced for the service and quality. Waitress gave wrong drink over twice. Was not apologetic about the wait was very abrupt claiming it was very busy but tbh if they call that busy then I worry for the service when it’s summer and they are truly busy with more tourists and people out enjoying the sunshine. Hot chocolate was not the best, and was only warm as it had been made and then left before she bothered to bring it over. Scone was dry. Overall a very poor experience I wouldn’t go there again . There’s lots of local cafes around I would suggest others try these instead. Only positive I could find is there is WiFi if you need it. We were ok as have unlimited data but could be useful to others.

Went here for a late lunch. We had 2 kids and 2 dogs. Dylan and the team were lovely, extremely dog friendly. Helpful and food came out well presented and tasted great. The dogs had eggs, which was a great added bonus. Had it been warmer, we would have sat outside in the lovely new garden. However, it was a bit cold on Sunday. Thanks again for a lovely lunch, for humans and pups 🐶.

We called in for lunch, just too late for breakfast, it was 11.30am! So one disappointed husband. We ordered jacket potatoes and drinks. The jacket potatoes were nice and fluffy but the side salad was disappointing, it was just chopped up lettuce leaves! No effort was made at all, so you just as well not put it on the plate at all.

This is normally our favourite place to eat after a regular walk by the Lake and we often recommend it to others, however, today was sadly a complete let down and it has put us off returning. We both chose the full breakfast but it arrived on cold plates and without any egg. The fried eggs were brought out to us some time later but by then we had discovered that all the meat products were hard, cool and pretty inedible - they had clearly been cooked earlier or yesterday and then re-heated or microwaved, certainly not cooked fresh. The black pudding and sausage were almost impossible to cut, the bacon was hard and the hash brown was cold in the middle. We were so surprised and feel uncomfortable complaining but decided to mention it to the girl behind the counter in the hope that it was a one off and that you would find it helpful to get the feedback. Whilst she did say she was sorry, there was no offer of replacement food or a refund so we left extremely disappointed. We hope this feedback helps you move back towards the retention of your normally great reviews.

Beautiful setting . Decided to eat here after seeing they had won an award for best cafe in Cumbria. Unfortunately it didn’t measure up to our expectations in some areas. Drinks were great. Jackets lovely with loads of filling. Sadly the chicken katsu didn’t resemble the description of crispy battered chicken with a sweet katsu sauce with mango sauce. . It was cubed chicken in the sauce. The sauce was very runny which proved difficult to eat in a baguette! Plus there was no mango chutney in sight. We did ask politely about the chicken but was informed it was correct .

Very welcoming, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean …. with lovely staff and a varied menu of excellent food …. also very dog friendly ! I had an enormous stack of fluffy pancakes with crispy unsmoked bacon and lashings of maple syrup! It was absolutely delicious, and cooked perfectly! You can sit outside or inside with your pooch, and the views across the park to the hills are lovely …. I wish I could give this cafe a zero review because the food was disgusting. They did a ham and cheese sandwich but I didn’t want the cheese. My husband asked if this could be done and he was told no it had to have cheese and the woman who served him was very rude about it too. The food was slow to come and when it did it was horrible. The bread on both sandwiches was stale and dry, the ham was nothing special and I took most of the cheese off mine as I didn’t want it. There was some lettuce with an unknown dressing on the side, which was not mentioned on the menu, this too was inedible, a lot of my lettuce was pink around the edges so I couldn’t eat it. Neither of us finished our sandwiches. We felt like we had been ripped off, 2 ham and cheese sandwiches, tea for 2 and a 7up cost us £25!! I know prices have gone up but this seemed very expensive and everyone I’ve spoken to about the price seems to agree with me. Please for the love of god DO NOT eat at this place, don’t waste your money.

Went to this fabulous cafe on Tuesday with a group of friends. I ordered a steak pie and chips, with a flapjack and a chocolate milkshake. All I can say was I would definitely recommend. The steak pie was perfectly cooked with the chips exactly how I have them at home. The flapjack was gorgeous and the milkshake too. The staff were very kind and helpful and I witnessed them taking care of all the pets around I would definitely bring my family pets here. The staff were on point with the order and always there to clear up tables making sure they were cleaned thoroughly and disinfected properly. Fully skilled set of people working here. This is the place to go to and the only cafe I’ll be visiting.

We arrived at the cafe to a bit off queue off people waiting to go for tables. Every where in Keswick was heaving so it’s only to be expected. We were shortly at the front of the queue and greeted by the manger who explained that it wouldn’t be long till a table became available she also explained that there was a 1/2 hour wait on food we really appreciated the honestly about the situation other places would have not said anything and just had to deal with complaints. All the staff were very smart and fully in PPE. As we were taken to our table we saw the waitress spay our table and chairs then wipe everything down this was very reassuring. Our order was taken quickly by a friendly young girl who even though it was very busy she made the time to have a chat with us about our holiday. Our drinks arrived 1st and we had real loose leaf tea in a pot very nice and a milkshake that was full of flavour and made with real ice cream delicious. We only waited 20 mins for our food which I thought was remarkable considering how busy it was. The food was all well presented and hot we had toasties with chips. I would like to say we saw lots of people using the cafe toilets which I thought was unusual that a cafe in Keswick would allow this, but when I went to go myself I saw signs asking for a small donation which I thought is fair enough and to be honest it’s very nice off them to let people use the toilets when there are none near by. All in all this visit was a huge success and we will definitely return. There are lots off novel quotes and signs about the cafe so they obviously have a good sense off humour as well as high standards.

After a lovely walk around Keswick, me, my partner and dog decided to have a bite of lunch here today. We where met by a pleasant lady at the door, she took my sir name and contact telephone number then showed us to a empty table. There was an awful lot of staff, most looking lost and not really sure what to do, apart from trying too look busy. All staff wore face visors which looked very covid safe and professional, until you looked at them, you could see how dirty these where.A lady came over with 2 menus she explained they are doing the help out to eat out scheme. Which was great as we had forgotten all about it. Within 1 minute of the menus arriving another lady came to take our order I asked if we could have another minute to decide. As soon as she left the table, another lady came to take our order again I asked for another minute. We hadn’t been sat down with a menu any longer than 3 minutes and the 3rd lady came to take our order. We gave up and just ordered a glass of wine, a peroni and a frozen yoghurt for the dog to drink and a steak pie and halloumi with sweet chilli open pita bread. When the drinks where delivered to the table with the card machine to take payment, my wine glass was visually dirty I asked the lady to change my glass. With current disinfection procedures in place I believe a dirty glass is far from acceptable. But the same lady brought the same glass back she had just dried it, not cleaned or replaced it. With a fear of covid in the air and other dinners able to hear me ask again, I didn’t feel it right to ask her for a clean glass again and make a fuss. I cleaned my own glass with my own sanitiser and cardigan. Our food came within 15 minutes the steak pie wasn’t warm and had been bought in. I find in tourist places like Keswick it’s a lack of care to buy in such simple menu food items in. My dog enjoyed the warmed up soggy pastry. My halloumi, red pepper and sweet Chili open flat bread/pita was a mess, flat bread pita was not open but cut in half. The side nibbles of 6 crisps curried pasta and salad swimming in balsamic was enjoyed by the dog. The halloumi was certainly not fresh or even cooked today, but also drowning in a bought in acidic like sweet Chili sauce. Not one waitress came to ask if everything was ok, never mind came anywhere near for me to explain our issues. I’m glad the food was half price.

Visited during 50% off time. Very busy cafe with a good menu. Staff very pleasant. Disappointed they ran out of scones and qs only 2pm. Panninis and toasties were nice but expensive if full price. Milkshake were not as good as expected considering £3.80ea. Cheese scone was hot with melted brie and husband really enjoyed.

My friend and I called in here whilst in Wigton and had a bacon buttie and a barista butties both of which were delicious and cooked perfectly. I had a latte which was lovely and my friendcsaid her cappuccino was one if the vest she'd had. The staff were so helpful and friendly and we will definitely return.

Sad to say that our trip there was a a big disappointment when it come to the food. We all had beef, it was dry and chewy. When we talked to the waiter, we have been told that is the way the chef does it. It is a shame that they only sell well done cuts of meat...

We stayed here for 2 nights and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The rooms are large, bright with some spectacular views and those special touches such as little toiletries for your use. The bath in our room was so opulent I could have stayed in there all evening. The dining area is quite niche you can have quiet discreet corners for a romantic evening or more open. The food is excellent- if I had 1 thing to say that was negative, it would be that I wouldn’t have a starter so I could have a dessert, I found each time I did I just didn’t have room to have one! The main thing for me was the staff. The staff quite simply made it for me. NOTHING was too much trouble, they were friendly, welcoming and went above and beyond , yet at the same time let us be. If you want somewhere, where you can be comfortable, away from it all and have excellent accommodation and food this is the place.

My wife and I went for a trip to Lowther Castle and Gardens with the in-laws, and after such awful weather we decided to travel to Cockermouth to treat ourselves to the excellent Fredricks which we've visited many times before. We started with the seafood platter / selection with a portion of chips for the young one. It's a great selection of items for fish lovers! After, we ordered some lovely main dishes, enough for 3 adults and 2 kids (1 kids meal of pizza and chips!) Lovely meal to end of evening. Will be back when next in the area.
