Came for breakfast, we were cutting it tight getting there at 11:15, got to the front of the queue at 11:20 to be told breakfast had ended (website says 11:30 so this was disappointing). We were told we could use the ‘light lunch’ menu as lunch wasn’t on yet and breakfast had ended. The prices were steep (£9.95 for a beef roll and £10.90 for a jacket potato with cheese and beans) but we were hungry so thought we’d order still. The food was very poor quality - we were expecting a fairly nice quality roll with beef and got what appeared to be a multi-pack supermarket hot dog roll with a tiny portion of packet roast beef and a sprinkling of salad on the plate. The jacket potato was ok, nothing great, not bad, fairly average but pretty steep price for what it was. We ate our food and had to chase for the bill. When we got it we were asked how it was, and we were fairly honest and said not great given the price, to which we were told bluntly we knew the prices as they were on the menu when we were ordered. We weren’t complaining, just answering the question we were asked. Also, yes we knew the prices but we did not know it was going to be such poor quality given the prices. Wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend, we regretted eating there and not just buying a sausage roll at the deli counter inside the garden centre.

Went for a quick bite to eat. Waited for a table and were studiously ignored by staff. Sarah then directed us to a table, that had not been cleared. After asking for it to be cleared and reviewing the menu we waited at least 15 minutes to be served, after attracting attention of the staff. Food was poor and over priced for what it is.

My 98 year-old guest and myself had a delicious afternoon tea today. The food was fresh, tasty and imaginative, and the service excellent. A good selection of crustless sandwiches, homemade fruit scones with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam and eight lovely little cakes. We were so full we had to take the cakes home with us which meant we enjoyed it for even longer - and the cakes were truly yummy! Everyone was so caring and attentive especially Jess and Sarah T. We will definitely return for another afternoon tea. Highly recommended for an excellent celebratory gift.

The third star is for the attractive surroundings and the friendly member of staff who showed me to my table. Otherwise disappointing. Turkey and bacon roll ... somehow I was expecting a roll, with a slice of turkey and a rasher (or even half a rasher) of bacon in it. I got a soggy - and I MEAN soggy - baguette with a filling of low grade supermarket sandwich filler, and not much of it. Not recognisable as either turkey or bacon. Not worth £3, let alone the £8.95 charged. I was asked whether I wanted a brown or white roll, and said brown ... I got white. But I'd already waited 20 minutes and hadn't the time to spare to wait another 20, so I didn't say anything at the time. Coffee was good. Really surprised, as I've been to many Blue Diamond cafes, and never had a bad meal or snack before.

Sitting with my wife enjoying a Turkey Roast dinner at Blue Diamond Home and Garden. We were escorted to a clean table and our order was taken by very pleasant Servers, the meal arrived in next to no time. The Roast dinner was excellent and plenty of it.

I’ve just ordered a cook breakfast that was served toast without butter had to visit the till to then be told they had ran out of sachets - so past 3 hard chunks of frozen butter in a small pot. Got to the black pudding served raw and semi frozen 🤢 The young guy behind the counter very polite and friendly but the other staff could learn to smile more. Sadly, I won’t be returning came in today after awful surgery and first day out since my operations.

The Martin's Arms re-opened on 27 November 2024 under the new management (Professional MasterChef winner Laurence Henry). We went on the second night it was open. We liked the refurbishment - different but still traditional and cosy. The pub was busy with drinkers with some people choosing, as we did, to eat in the bar. (There's also a dining room). The menu is a mixture of pub classics (fish and chips, burger, steak etc.) with some more 'restaurant' dishes, including game which I was very pleased to see on a menu. We enjoyed our food - it was well cooked and presented. The service was friendly, timely and accurate. I really hope it's a success.

Fantastic service here! Heidi held the door open for my relative, showed us to our table and served us our drinks! Food is really delicious and very good value! Highly recommend!
